Namun sejak terpecah menjadi dua provinsi, masing-masing mengejar PAD, yang kemudian terkesan menelantarkan potensi sumber daya budaya tersebut. Besarnya potensi sumberdaya budaya dan arkeologi itu sesungguhnya dapat dikembangkan menjadi obyek industry pariwisata. Namun hal ini perlu dilakukan melalui perencanaan yang matang yang diawali dengan menjaring aspirasi dari bawah (bottom up). Hal ini untuk memperoleh dukungan kolektif public, sebagai salah satu syarat agar industri pariwisata dapat berkembang. Bagaimanapun masyarakat sangat berhak, mengingat sumberdaya arkeologi justru banyak dijumpai diwilayah pemukiman masyarakat setempat.
