    This research aims to determine the role of the community in preserving the existence of mangrove forest sand the relationship of individual factors with public participation in mangrove forest conservation in the village of Batu Gajah. The samples are taken 75KK of 267KK. Data processing is using ChiSquare test. Research shows that community participation was medium because of them just want to get incentives from conservation activitiesandany divergence views on planting location. The individual factors such as age, income, and long lived perception has no real relation. While education and knowledge factors showed an association with public participation in mangrove forest conservation in the village of BatuGajah.     The benefits of Aquilaria malaccensis cause many people do the illegal activities to collect Aquilaria. Illegal logging causes Aquilaria in the endangered category species so that the export trade of this plant is limited. The problem of propagation of aquilaria can be solve with tissue culture techniques. The research objective is to determine the influencce of Naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) and Benzyl amino purine (BAP) on the development of subcultures best aloes. The research was conducted at the Laboratory of Silviculture Faculty of Forestry University Tanjungpura, observations made during six weeks. The method used in this study is factorial completely randomized design (CRD) in this study is factorial completely randomized design (CRD) with, Data were analyzed with analysis of variance and followed HSD test. such as ; NAA and BAP as factors with three concentration level and six replicant, as follows NAA (A) : 0.1 mg/l ; 0.15 mg/l ; 0.2 mg/l and BAP (B) : 2.5 mg/l ; 3.0 mg/l ; 3.5 mg/l). The results showed that the interaction between NAA and BAP concentrations has significantly influence to the development of Aquilaria subculture. In this study the best concentration is A1B1 (0.1 mg/l NAA and 2,5 mg/l BAP) where the number of shoots produced as many as 12 buds.     The society around the forest generally depends on the forest to extract their daily needs by taking the result of forest like timber and non-timber products for sale. However, since 2006 the illegal logging activity has been curbed and gave an impact to the communities livelihoods around the forest which caused the decline in their income. The objective of the research is to find out the alternative livelihoods after the controlling of the illegal logging, to determine the size of the income of the people before and after the controlling of illegal logging is executed, and to see the factors that is expectedly has an influence on the people's income. This research was conducted using a descriptive survey method with interview techniques. The result of the research showed that the occupations of the people before the controlling of illegal logging are tree feller/penebang, rafting agen/pengengkut, and log collector agent/pengepul. After the controlling, their changes their occupation as rice farmers,rubber farmers, fisherman, traders and rattan collectors. The peoples income before the controlling of illegal logging are; as much as 7 respondents have the lowest-income, that is less then Rp. 11.912.661, as much as 51 respondents have middle-income between Rp. 11.912.661-Rp. 21.284.645, and as much as 2 respondents have the higher-income, that is more than Rp. 21.284.645. While the incomes of the former of illegal loggers are as many as 9 respondents has high-income, > Rp. 26,337,189, -/year. And as many as 45 respondents have middle-income between Rp. 7.488.064, - Rp. 26.337.189, -/year. Then as many as six respondents have the lowes-income, that is below Rp. 7488064, -/year. Based on Chi-Square statisticsThere was no relationship between the level of income with the attitudes, people perceptions about the illegal logging activities.     This research is aimed to know the effect of material composition and concentration of adhesives to physical and mechanical properties particle board. The factors were used includes material composition and content of adhesives urea formaldehyde (UF) on particleboard. Factors material composition consist of three treatment those were 450 g, 540 g, 630 g and content of adhesives factor consist of three treatments is 12%, 14%, and 16%. Particleboard made measuring 30 cm x 30 cm x 1 cm, with compression heat at a temperature 140 C with a the pressure 27 kgf/cm2 for 10 minutes. The mean results of testing the physical and mechanical properties obtained moisture content (9.33% - 12.77%), density (0.44 g/cm3 - 0.54 g/cm3), development of a thick (27.83% - 47 , 95%), water absorption (118.20% - 211.89%), MOE (68.54 kg/cm2 - 539.19 kg/cm2), MOR (13.33 kg/cm2 - 28.35 kg / cm2), internal bonding strength (0.19 kg/cm2 - 0.35 kg/cm2) and a strong hold screws (6.40 kg - 12.02 kg). Results of the study stated particleboard the produced was affected by the amount of material composition and content of the adhesive used.The results of all test physical and mechanical properties that do not comply JIS A 5908 - 2003 except for water content and density of board the produced .     Preservation of natural resources such as rattan currently experiencing problems due to the difficulty and away in the forest by collecting rattan entered. This is due to natural forests in tumbuhi rattan pressed by the presence of, among others, land clearing, shifting cultivation and for other purposes so that the potential of rattan is reduced. The research was conducted in Limited Production Forest (HPT) forest group Tenungun Rivers Nanga Two District Bunut Hulu Kapuas Hulu in West Kalimantan. The method used for sampling is a method with a sample unit is not disconnected transects (Continuous strip sampling) research plot area is 16 acres, a square with a size of 400 mx 400 m. Furthermore, in the plot lines of the observation made ??by 40 lines Based on the results of the study found as many as 10 species of rattan. As for the types of rattan found in the study plots that petit rattan (Calamus spectobilis), Ilam rattan (Karthalsia momboides), Jerenang rattan (Daemonorops drancellus), shrimp rattan (Karthalsia schenomerathus), Jelapang rattan (Calamus momboides), Single rattan (Calamus mucromathus), Sega rattan (Calamus caesius), Lowa rattan (Plectocomiopsis geminiflorus Becc), wicker rattan (Korthalsia flagellaris Miq), and Marau rattan (Calamus mattenensis Becc).     The research aimed to know gall myte diseased characteristic on plant Shorea leprosula at pruning yard. of PT. Sari Bumi Kusuma at Serawai district, sintang regency. Research desaign used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) and sample plant is placed at random in observing slot and data analysis used Khi square ( Chi Square ) with 3 treatments and 6 replications. First plant normal or untrimmed (A0), second treatment is trimmed (A1) and third treatment is trimmed plan and given by vaseline at sectioned plant which is trimmed (A2). Total plant that is utilized were 18 plants. Result of the research showed that 33% plants S. leprosula was attack by gall myte, disease for all treatment. Result tests of Chi Square pointing out that the treatment given is not significant. Disease gall myte can be seen on branch tip part plant, leaf armpit and autotrof. Initially just as bruise with circumference gall myte + 1cm and long + 0,5cm and green chromatic. Time range of appearance gall myte until ranging break tumor were 93 115 days.     SIFAT FISIK DAN MEKANIK KAYU BENUANG (Octomeles sumatrana Miq) YANG DIDENSIFIKASI BERDASARKAN SUHU DAN WAKTU KEMPA

    Benuang (Octomeles sumatrana Miq) wood less attractive to industrial carpentry, because of Benuang wood has a low at strength level (strength class IV - V). Densification of wood is one solution, which is the timber compaction process that aims to improve the strength and durability of the wood. There are two factors for treatment in this study that include temperature factors felts (1700C, 1800C and 1900C) and Time Felts (50 minutes and 60 minutes). Samples made ??of from Benuang with wood measuring 30 cm (L) x 8 cm (W) x 4 cm (H), then steamed in an autoclave and hot pressed (hot press) with a target thickness of 30% and the pressure felt by 60 kg/cm2. Then created a test sample for testing. The parameters measured are physical properties (color and touch wood impression, moisture content, density and dimensional changes) and mechanical properties (static bending persistence / Modulus of Elasticity, strength of bending fracture / Modulus of Rupture, and firmness press parallel fiber / Cruishing Maximum Strength). The design that used in this study is a 3x2 factorial experimental design in a completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 replications. Results showed that the densification process on wood Benuang generally not been able to increase the strength of the timber, that is still in the same class with the timber control (strenght class IV-V). But partially strength there is still best value that on the showed densification timber with temperature 1800C with clamp time for 60 minutes, with decrease in water content of 43.12%, increase in value density of 27,22%, dimensional change impairment of 7,57%, MOE impairment of 71,61%, MOR values ??decrease by 61,93% and MCS impairment of 18,41%.     This research was conducted in IUPHHK-HA PT. Kalimantan Satya Kencana, it aims to have the percentation of the damaged residual stands after the harvesting, and it also aims to determine the relationship between the (LBDS) of harvesting trees. This research is done an 9 plots with the 100 x 100 m2 size, and its place with the methods called line plot sampling with random start. The damage of the resudual stand of seedling is 26.39%, sapling 27.98% ,pole 26.34%, and tree 20.77%. The damage level of the residual stand is catagorized in heavy (70.63%, 37.07%), medium (17.81%, 38.23), and low (11.56%; 24.70 ). The relationship between the harvested trees LBDS and the damaged residual trees shows a highly significant and positively correlated. More larger of the trees LBDS then the damage will be higher.     Global warming is one of the important environmental issues that currently concern to various parties. Related to the phenomenon, environmentalists begin to worry what conditions of earth will be if global warming continues. Forests has important roles through three ways;the first is as a carbon pool, the second is as a source of CO2 and the third is as carbon sink. If the forest is properly managed, it will be able to overcome the excessive amount of carbon in the atmosphere by storing carbon in the form of biomass which is either above or below the ground surface. One forest stands whose carbon can be assessed is the forest plantation of red meranti (Shorea leprosula Miq). This study aimed to estimate the amount of biomass carbon of litter and soil organic carbon in the forest plantation of red meranti (Shorea leprosula Miq). This study used proposive system with composite of litter and soil sampling in the field by making a diagonal plot size is 100 100 meters, then make a plot of 1 1 meter as a plot for litter and soil sampling which is the depth of 20 cm below the stands of red Meranti plantation. Based on the results of the research, total biomass ranged between 31.72 and 61.14 ton / ha. The better an ecosystem of an in area is, the more fertilezed that area will be and, indirectly the higher the litter carbon will be produced.. Based on the results of litter carbon conten which ranged from 11 to 23.5%. a year growing plant gained 11%, while a 7 year growing plant gained 23.5%. The longer the age of the is, the greater carbon will be produced. Based on the studys finding, the level of soil organic is low ranged from 1.08 to 1.96%. The level of soil organic carbon shows that the longer the age of the plant is, the greater the level of content of soil organic carbon.
