    Tembawang forest has a very large role for the life of the local community and society which are located around the forest area. Utilizing thorns pandan (Pandanus tectorius) is a forest conservation efforts in order to be able to enjoy the benefits of forests to the future. The method used is descriptive whereas for data collection used a structured interview using a questionnaire. The number of respondents in this study were 100 respondents. The results reveal that the level of utilization of pandanus thorns by society tends to be high. A total of 62 respondents (62%) had a utilization rate of thorns pandan in high tembawang woods, as many as 30 respondents (30%) had a utilization rate of thorns pandan tembawang forests are and as much as 8 resonden (8% ) has a utilization rate of thorns pandan in low tembawang forest.     Variance in water contains and weight of wood are influenced by several factors including the drying temperature and the type of wood. This study was conducted to determine the effect of drying temperature and the type of wood on the dimensionstability. Design factorial in completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 2 factors which are the temperature drying of wood (500C, 700C, 900C, 1100C) and the type of wood (Lagerstroemia speciosa Pers and Dracontomelon mangiferum BI). The results showed that the drying temperature and the type of wood give significant effect and highly significan on the dimensional stability of wood. All treatment drying temperature on the wood Lagerstroemia speciosa Persshowed good dimensional stability values ​​with the ratio of T / R is greater than 1, wherein the drying temperature of 1100C showed the ratio of T / R from the bottom at 1,02.After air dry, then the stability of the value dimensions is catagorized to in good category with the lowest ratio of T / R from Lagerstroemia speciosa Pers wood and Dracontomelon mangiferum BIwood arround temperature 1100C with a value of 1,11. Lagerstroemia speciosa Pers wood moisture content in the tangential area with drying temperature 1100C the lowest, value is 3,5529 %. But in general all treatment for drying temperature has shown the value of water content below 17 % which is at equilibrium moisture content between 12 % - 20%. The highest Wood density values ​​for Lagerstroemia speciosa Persis 0,6925 gr/cm3,while for Dracontomelon mangiferum BI timber the highest value is 0,7101 gr/cm3.     Indigenous forests have a very large role in the lives of local people of Menyabo and communities around indigenous forest, the forest conservation effort in order to be able to benefits for future. In utilizing forest communities have the local wisdom in managing forests with its rules or norms that have been applied over the years and is complied with and adhered to by community members, the norms are so called customary norms. The method that used in this research is descriptive whereas for data collection used structured interviews using questionnaires. The number of respondents in this research study are 81 respondents. The research results revealed that the communities participation of forest in conserving indigenous forests as a buffer zone water resources tends to be high ie there are 62 respondents (76.55%) who have high participation, there were 8 respondents (9.87%) which had medium participation, and 11 respondents (13.58%) who had low participation.   Keyword : participation, community, Indigenous forest, Source of Water

    Bark laban in the Village Lape used by Dayak Pangkodan since the first generation to generation as a drink tea. This researches aims to determine the type laban that utilized by local people Dayak Pangkodan in the village Lape and to identify utilization bark laban. This research is also to determine the physic-chemical properties of young bark laban and old bark laban which are water content, extract content , viscosity, pH, saponins, flavonoids and tannins. The results of this research indicate that the type of species laban that used are Vitex pubescens Vahl. Ethnobotany study by the respondents who is the Dayak Pangkodan in the village Lape use bark laban as a drink tea generally at the time of farming activities, tea of bark laban more widely known use by parents, bark laban than as a nutritious drink tea for stomach ache. The results of physic-chemical indicate that the water content of the wet weight of old bark laban and young bark laban have differences, content old bark laban 21.18 % and 16.36 % for young bark laban. Level of young bark extract laban have a higher value than the old bark laban , old bark laban 0.48% and for young bark laban 0.58 % laban young . The viscosity of the old bark laban (2.04 Cps) and for young bark laban (2 Cps) showed no significant. The results of pH old bark laban 5.2 and young bark laban 5.4.     Bornean Gibbon (Hylobates muelleri) is one primate species protected under wildlife protection laws Number 266 of 1931 and Forestry Minesterial Decree Number 5/Kpts-II/1991 dated 10 June 1991 and law number 5 of 1990. Baka hill is protected areas in West Borneo within the territory of the National Park Bukit Baka Bukit Raya the habitat of bornean gibbon. This study aims to determine the number of individuals and individuals density of bornean gibbon in lines interpretation baka hill in the region Bukit Baka Bukit Raya National Park Melawi District. Number of individuals were found at the time of the study with 6 lanes and 3 replication by 99 individuals with a mean number of individuals bornean gibbon at 33,0001 individuals. Results of data analysis on a 95% confidence interval bornean gibbon individuals density lies between 0,4377 individuals/Ha to 0,6621 individuals/Ha. Whereas the 99% confidence interval bornean gibbon individual density lies between 0,3625 individuals/Ha to 0,7373 individuals/Ha. To the number of individuals per hectare with 95% confidence interval obtained by the number of individuals throughtout the area ranged from 5 to 6 tails.     Seeds scraped nature is one seed source alternative to breed the type of agarwood (Aquilaria malaccensis Lamk). To support of its growth is very essential role of growth hormone in particular is auxin. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of auxin on the growth of seedlings of natural chum aloes (A. malaccensis Lamk). Treatment of hormone auxin concentration and immersion time gives a good 1effect on the percentage of the speed of life and sprout, for the parameters of leaves just long immersion treatment which gives a good effect. Of all the treatments, the concentration of auxin treatment and a good long soaking the seeds for the growth of natural chum aloes (A. malaccensis Lamk) is a treatment A2B2 (5 gr/200 ml of auxin concentration and soaking time 5 minutes).     Herpetofauna is fauna group consisting of reptiles and amphibians. This study aims to determine the diversity of herpetofauna at Lekawai Resort in Area Bukit Baka Bukit Raya National Park West Kalimantan . The method of data collection was done by using Visual Encounter Survey (VES) combining with of tracking systems. Herpetofauna found as many as 35 species which are divided into 24 kinds of amphibians and 11 species of reptiles. Air humidity ranged between 81 % - 85 %, air temperature 270C - 290C, water temperature 220C - 240C and pH of water 6. Highest species diversity index in aquatic habitats by H'= 0.996 and the lowest in terrestrial habitats that H'= 0.957. The highest evenness index in aquatic habitats that are e= 0.765 and lowest in terrestrial habitats is e= 0.724. However, the similarity index value types (S) between the two habitats is obtained with a value of 0.3. The highest abundance of amphibians in class Limnonectes kuhlii ie by 18 % . Relative abundance of reptiles found in the type of class Eutropis rudis of 5.4 %. The largest Chance encounter was belonged types Limnonectes kuhlii of 0.643 individuals / hour.     Peat swamp forest has a valuable natural richness in the form of plants. This study aimed to find out the composition and dominance of species, species diversity, and stand structure in secondary peat swamp forest and thicket swamp. The vegetation analysis in secondary peat swamp forest and thicket swamp is done by using combination method. Mentibu (Daetylocladus stenostachys Oliver) is dominant in secondary peat swamp forest of tree growth level, and mempening (Quercus conocarpa OUD) is dominant in pole, sapling, and seedling of growth level (INP = 34,74%, 32,57%, 28,96%, respectively). In thicket swamp, prepat (Combretocarpus rotundatus Danser) is a dominant for the whole of growth level (INP = 261.89%, 126,12%, 98.96%, 64.99%, respectively). The diversity index of Shannon-Wienner (H’) in secondary peat swamp forest is abundant (H’ > 1) and low in thicket swamp (H’ < 1). The secondary peat swamp forest have a normal stand structure according to de Liocourt’s law. In thicket swamp, the forest had been fire, but the vegetation development now has led to a succession of normal vertical forest structure and almost reach climax.     The research aims to know the diversity types of stands compilers Tembawang, and research carried out on the Tembawang in the Village King, subdistrict of Ngabang Regency landak. The method used is a combination method is a modification of the method line by line method terraced and placed in a purposive sampling. Results of the analysis of the date shows that the stands are found as many as 34 types for all levels of growth. Of the 34 types of stands are included: Acids, Bandong, Cempedak, Durian, Empirical, Ensubal, Entepong, Jambu bol, Jambu hutan, Kandis, Kandaria, Rubber, Kelitak, Kepayang landak, Coffee, Langsat, Mangosteen, Leban, Medang, Mentawak, Meramun, Pangsik, Peluntan, Pengan, Petai, Pulai pipit, Rambai, Rambutan, Rembawan, Rengas, Tengkawang, Terap and Tuba. The result showed that the level of INP all types have the greatest number on Tembawang I and Tembawang II, namely Cempedak (Artocarpus champeden) the family Moraceae, while in the Tembawang III and IV Tembawang the family of Euphorbiaceae, namely Rubber (Hevea braziliensis). Overall dominance index value (C) at all locations of research including low, because it has not yet reached the dominance of the highest index value (C = 1). The results of data analysis index values diversity in all kinds of Tembawang on the level low (< H 1). At the level of the stake and the pillar, Tembawang I have a kind of low diversity values and on Tembawang II to Tembawang IV diversity of its kind is abundant (1 ? H ? 3). At the level of the tree, Tembawang I and Tembawang IV has a value type of diversity is low (< 1 H), whereas in Tembawang II and Tembawang III has a value of the type being abundant (1 ? H ? 3).     This research aims to utilize waste from bark of durian fruit that accumulate most of the year in Pontianak city. Durian bark made ​​into a particleboard as materials for furniture. Durian bark was made into particle with size pass of 8 mesh and retain on 20 mesh. The adhesive used was urea formaldehyde with a concentration of 12%, 14% and 16% with catalyst additives and paraffin. Particle board is made with size 30 cm x 30 cm x 1 cm with density of 0.6 g/cm3 at a pressure of 25 kg/cm2 and hotpress temperature of 140oC for 10 minutes. Evaluation the physical properties (density, moisture content and thickness swelling) and mechanical properties (modulus of elasticity, modulus of rupture, and internal bonding) was conducted according to standard JIS A 5908-2003. The results of research showed the average value of particleboard that meets the standards JIS A 5908-2003 is the density, moisture content, and internal bonding with concentration of adhesives was 14% and 16%, and the modulus of elasticity at a concentration of 16%. Meanwhile the value of the modulus of rupture not meets the standards JIS A 5908-2003. Keywords: Durian bark fruit, particleboard, mechanical properties
