    The chemical properties of wood flowering (Lithocarpus elegans) and lime leather (Memecylon garcinioides) based on wood species, the chemical properties of wood for the extractive content of alcohol soluble benzene lime leather is higher than that of the flower wood with a mean rate of 2, 7111%; 2.5343%. While the lignin level of wood flower kecing is higher than the lime leather with the average value of 16.6030%; 16,4189% and leather holocellulose content of leaf wood was higher compared to wood flower with average value of 86,8927%; 83.4929%. Based on the height of the stem for the extractive substance of alcohol-soluble benzene, the highest average was in the center of 2.9812%, and the lowest at the end of 2.3525%. For lignin content the highest average value is at the tip of 17,5200%, and the lowest at the center of 15.8084%.     Proboscis monkey (Nasalis larvatus Wurmb) is a primate that included in the family of Cercopithecidae. Proboscis monkeys are rare and endemic animals of Borneo, they are protected species and classified in Appendix I of CITES with the conservation status are endangered by the IUCN. The area of IUPHHK-HT PT. Bina Silva Nusa and its surroundings are the habitat of the proboscis with the mean mangrove forests and peat bogs. The purposes of this research are to obtain data and information of the habitat of proboscis monkeys in the area of IUPHHK-HT in the form of tree species, feed trees, sleeping trees, water, temperature and humidity. The data collecting was limited on the location that discovers the groups of proboscis monkeys and the sleeping place of proboscis. The research method was using terraced path to investigate the species of trees and undergrowth as the habitat and the potential feed source tree and the tree of sleep. The Habitat of proboscis monkeys on the three type of forest relatively had good vegetation structure. There are 21 species of trees and undergrowth was found as a food source and also used as a sleeping tree. The preferred tree species are the white mangrove (rhizophora apiculata), dungun (Heritiera globosa), ubah (Syzygium spp), ketiau (Ganua motleyana) and undergrowth piai lasa (Acrostichum speciosum). Water was known the salinity average of 15,5 o/oo - 22,5 o/oo with mean of  pH of 3,75 – 5,5. Results of research on air temperature of habitat of proboscis monkey ranged between 25,8 ° C to 33 °C and the humidity ranged from 71,67% to 81, 33%.     Bornean orangutan (Pongo pygmaeus) is one of primate in Indonesia, the only species of great ape that could be found in Asia. Orangutan included in the IUCN list of endangered species category. The decreasing orangutan population is caused by various factors, however, the organization of International Animal Rescue Foundation Indonesia (YIARI) Ketapang gave much concerned and active to jointly maintain and conserve orangutans to avoid extinction. This study aims to determine feeding behavior and the food type for orangutan (Pongo pygmaeus) in the International Animal Rescue Foundation of Indonesia, Ketapang. Methods: Observations were made using the Focal Animal Sampling method. Based on the results and discussion, adult orangutans Joni, Pino and adolescents Gembar are more dominant in terms of mastery of the feed that is provided above the platform, while the child orangutan Vijai and Lisa are not too dominant. There are 15 kinds on food that is provided, and watermelon was the most favorite and also 17 kinds of food that the could get from the nature as the Ficus sp. was the most favorite. The most dominant orangutan feeding behavior is sitting, meal times ranging from 6:20 to 18:30 o'clock pm on the platform as the most dominant position.Keywords: Feeding behavior, Orangutans, West Borne

    The purpose of this study is to determine diversity of Bamboo (Bambusodae) and level of dominance. Determination of observation using purposive sampling method with plot size of 10 x 10 m. Based on identification result of research in the area of waterfall forest Riam Odong there are 3 types of Bamboo, among other Bamboo Poring (Dendrocalamus asper (Schultes f.) Backer ex heyne), Bamboo Munti (Schizostachyum sp), and Bamboo Buru (Schizostachyum zollingeri Stuedel). The most important index is Schizostachyum sp with value (INP=149,07%), followed by Schizostachyum zollingeri Stuedel with (INP=31,64%), lowest type is Dendrocalamus asper (Schultes f.) Backer ex heyne with value (INP=19,29%). The dominant species is Schizostachyum sp with highest dominance value (C=0,5555), while lowest is Dendrocalamus asper (Schultes f.) Backer ex heyne with value (C=0093). The highest diversity index Dendrocalamus asper (Schultes f.) Backer ex heyne nemely (H’= 0,9949) and type of Schizostachyum zollingeri Stuedel (H’=0,9817) while lowest diversity index for the types of Schizostachyum sp (H’=0,3779). The value of highest evennes of Bamboo was Dendrocalamus asper (Schultes f.) Backer ex heyne with an evennes of types of 0,3673 and lowest evennes found in Schizostachyum sp kind of 0,0743.Keywords: Bamboo, Diversity, Riam Odong Waterfall Fores

    Morphometrics is a way to see the form, structure, and measurement of body parts, the outer forms of certain body parts that are relied upon to compare. This research aimed to know the diurnal bird’s morphometry in protected forest of sekendal village in Air Besar Sub-District. The methods used in this research was the capture-recapture method by using mist nets, and mixed method on the Transect and the Point Count method on the observations made with a length of 1000 M with a radius of 50 M at any points, the distance between points was 200M. Based on the result of observation, there were 44 bird species caught in a mist net, then the result of observation there were 52 types of birds and a number of birds caught in the mist net were 22 species. Based on observations, it can be described that the protected forest of Sekendal village in Air Besar sub-district is one of the habitats for wildlife, especially wildlife of birds, but the condition of the habitat needs to be noticed in order to maintain the existence of wildlife of birds. There were some disruptions on the location of the research which are can threaten the existence of this wildlife such as forest fires and the hunting activity.     PENGGUNAAN PUPUK NPK MUTIARA UNTUK PENINGKATAN PERTUMBUHAN TANAMAN GAHARU Aquilaria spp PADA LAHAN TERBUKA DI TANAH ULTISOL

    Gaharu plants (Aquilaria spp.) can only be grown under shade in the first stage of the plant because this plant has a semi-tolerance silvens. This condition of gaharu make difficult to grow under the open, so it’s needed the applying of Mutiara NPK fertilizer. This study aims to determine the effect of NPK Mutiara fertilizer on the growth of gaharu in open field. The research was conducted at Trial Garden of Tanjungpura University in Pak Laheng Village, Toho Sub-District, Mempawah District until the plants are12 weeks old. Research Methods used Completely Randomized Design (RAL). Treatment of the research consisted of: without NPK Mutiara fertilizer;NPK Mutiara 50 gram/plant; and NPK Mutiara 100 gram/plant, with six replications/handling. The results showed that at the age of 12 weeks, Mutiara NPK fertilizer can accelerate the growth of height, diameter and number of leaves.     Condition of mangrove seeds attacked by pest insect and their level of destruction at PUP PT. BIOS are inidetified until now. The purpose of this study was to identify the spesies of insect that attacked mangrove seeds and to investigate their level of destruction at PT. BIOS West Kalimantan. This study was conducted for 4 weeks at PT. BIOS, Batu Ampar sub-district, Kubu raya regency. Survey method was applied for collecting data of research, specifically employing direct observation in research setting toward: 1) destruction level of mangrove seeds attackedby pest insect, 2) signs on plant, and 3) types of pest insect that attacked mangrove seeds. The collected data was analyzed by calculating the percentage on plant attacked by pest insect at each PUP, level of destruction at each PUP, level of destruction at all PUP, and frequency of pest insect attacked at each PUP. The findings indicate that 4 types of pest insect has attacked the mangrove (Rhizophora apiculata) seeds at PT. BIOS, Batu Ampar sub-district, Kubu raya regency and they consisted of 3 ordo and 4 families, distinctively Polistes sp, Sexsava sp, Orgyia postica, and Dasychira inclusa. They study revealed that the level of destruction on mangrove (Rhizophora apiculata) seeds at PT.     Sengon (Paraserianthes falcataria Linn) wood is widely used as a particular furniture and craft materials due to many supply and low cost. But Sengon wood has a color that tends to be white and has a low-grade durable IV-V. Mean while the bark of Rhizophora apiculata Blume mangrove was unutilized and made a huge waste, so its need optimal handling. Staining of sengon wood from mangrove bark extract is expected to provide new innovations in increasing the value of environmentally friendly wood decorative and can increase the value of wood sengon timber. Natural dye extract of mangrove bark waste using concentration of 2.5%, 5%, 7%, and 10% dye solution applied on Sengon wood. The results showed that the color endurance at concentrations of 2.5% to 5% was quite good compared to the concentrations of 7.5% and 10%. This is proved by evidence of the value color change before the test with the color of wood after testing using hot and cold water. The highest termite mortality value occurred at a concentration of 10% and the lowest weight loss of the colored test sample was found at a concentration of 10%. At concentration 5% has shown the optimal result in increasing the durability value of Sengon wood which initially with class durable IV-V become class durable II. Dye extract of mangrove bark waste Rhizophora apiculata Blume can be used as dye and increased the durability value of Sengon wood with optimum concentration for the purpose of staining and durability of wood is at concentration 5%.Keywords: C. curvignathus, Concentration, Natural Dye, Sengon, Waste Mangrove Bar

    PEMANFAATAN HASIL HUTAN BUKAN KAYU OLEH MASYARAKAT DI DESA LABIAN IRA’ANG DAN DESA DATAH DIAAN DI KABUPATEN KAPUAS HULU

    Non-timber forest product has big values for community around the forest. People used non- timber forest product for food, traditional medicine, and other uses. The purposes of research are to describe the non-timber forest products used by community in Labian Ira’ang village at Batang Lupar district and Datah Diaan village at Putussibau Utara district in Kapuas Hulu Regency. The methods used in the research were in-depth interview with local people and survey to the forest near the village. Total respondents was 68 peoples; consist of 38 people from Labian Ira’ang village and 30 people from Datah Diaan village. The research was conducted on Juli-August 2016. Result of the research showed that there are three categories of non-timber forest products used by the community. First non-timber forest products as food consist of honey, Sago, Salam Leaf, Enau Fruit, Durian Fruit and Tengkawang Fruit. Second non-timber forest products as handicraft consist of Buloh Betung, Uwe Mataso, Uwe Welaan, Uwe Saga, Limpaso, Akar Bingkai, Daun Paripuk, Daun Kulan, Daun Kernis, Akar Doh Balok, Daun Karipuk, Daun Lutu, Resam, Bangrow, Uwe Saga, Uwe Jalebla, Bulu’ Semeling, Bulu’ Lan, Bulu’ Betung, Bulu’ Bale, Bulu’ Muti, Bulu’ Pesah and Karuing Latex. Third non-timber forest products as medicinal plant consist of Bararan Kunus, Urat Lalamas, Daun Papa, and Kulit Rambean. The product of handicraft was made by the community daily, such as Bubu, Hat and Bidai. These products mostly sell to the market as second income. The community was depending on non-timber forest product and need guidance from the government to conservation the plant.     PEMBERIAN ROOTONE F TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN STEK BATANG PURI (Mitragyna speciosa Korth)

    Puri (Mitragyna speciosa Korth) is one of the plant that has a high economic value, especially in Kapuas Hulu which has been used extensively by the community by taking the leaf of the plant that grows naturally in the forest. This research aims to determine the dose of Rootone F on the growth of stem cuttings of puri. This research was conducted for 2 month. The method used was Completely Random Design, which consisted of 4 treatments with 8 repetitions. Each treatment wash given with concentration Rootone F of 0 ppm, 50 ppm, 100 ppm and 150 ppm. The variables measured were percentage of growing, number of shoots and number of roots. The results showed that adding Rootone F on stem cuttings of puri at 100 ppm had a significant effect on the growth parameter of the number of shoots and a very significant effect on the parameter of the number of roots.
