Addition of Sawdust and Polystyrene in the Elaboration of Adobe Blocks for Single-Family Homes and its Effect on Temperature Variation and Acoustic Conditioning in Ambato, Tungurahua
This experiment evaluates the use of sawdust and expanded polystyrene (EPS) in the elaboration of adobe blocks as thermal and acoustic constructive elements with low environmental impact. To begin with, a soil selection and analysis process were carried out based on E-080 standard, then traditional adobe blocks with a percentage of 5%, 10% and 15% of sawdust and EPS were added in each mix. A suitable chamber was built to carry out the tests, based on specific standards, the chamber was divided into two rooms by a wall of the abode block with the addition of sawdust and expanded polystyrene using a 5mm layer of mortar to correct joint errors, this was considered appropriate for making temperature and sound measurements with the SPARK LXi Data logger (PS-3600A). Based on the Ecuadorian Construction Standard, comfortable reference values were determined for the measurements. After 28-day elaboration, the blocks were tested under compression. This test showed that all the analyzed samples exceeded the minimum resistance of 1MPa established in the E-080 standard. It was the highest compressive strength obtained in blocks with 5% of sawdust and EPS with a maximum resistance of 2.66 MPa. In addition, it was obtained that the wall made of 10% and 15% of adobe sawdust and EPS present the best performance to thermal variation and acoustic conditioning based on the standards NCh 352, NCh 851 - NCh 849 and NCh 2865
Information Extraction of Compound-Protein Interaction from Scientific Paper using Machine Learning
Drug Target Interaction (DTI) is an important process in drug discovery that aims to identify useful compounds in treatment. DTI research is mostly found in databases and literature or papers. To obtain DTI information, another method such as information extraction is required to retrieve information related to DTI interactions. The information in the abstract of the research paper contains many compound sentences. This study performs regular expressions to identify compound sentences, text mining for information extraction, and classification using Bernoulli Naive Bayes. The research uses a collection of abstract documents, where 3.000 abstract documents will be arranged into 29.363 sentences. Sentences that the regular expression has parsed are matched using pattern matching and conducted by text pre-processing. Sentences resulting from text pre-processing stages are used as training datasets. We use 10- fold cross-validation to evaluate the model. This research obtained the best average accuracy value of 0.72 for using naive Bayes without regular expression for compound sentences and 0.76 accuracies for naive Bayes with a regular expression for single sentences. Furthermore, by applying the feature selection process for compound sentence data, we obtained an accuracy of 0.731 for the model without regular expressions and an accuracy of 0.7644 for the model with feature selection using regular expressions
Grid Search CV Implementation in Random Forest Algorithm to Improve Accuracy of Breast Cancer Data
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women and is the second leading cause of global death. Disease diagnosis plays an important role in determining treatment strategies related to patient safety. Therefore, we need machine learning to predict disease. This paper aims to determine the best parameter values in breast cancer data using the Grid Search CV method and classify breast cancer data using the random forest algorithm. In addition, the paper aims to compare the accuracy values generated using the Grid Search CV and without the Grid Search CV. The method used to analyze breast cancer data in researchers is the Random Forest (RF) classification algorithm. In addition to using the Random Forest algorithm, this study also uses the Grid Search CV method. Grid Search CV is a method used to determine the optimal model parameters so that the classifier can predict the test data reliably. This study indicates that the highest accuracy value is obtained in the random forest algorithm using the grid search method of 0.9545. In contrast, the accuracy of the random forest algorithm without using the grid search method is 0.9480. For further research, it is suggested to develop a breast cancer dataset using the grid search cv method with other algorithms, such as Logistic Regression, Xgboost, and SVM. We can also use the same algorithm with different datasets to prove that the grid search cv method can increase accuracy
Quality of Sardine (Sardinella sp.) Peda during Storage as Affected by Salting Pre-Treatment Process and Chitosan
Peda is an Indonesian fermented whole fish prepared by adding salt before the fermentation and drying process. The storage of fermented fish products will lead to a change in the quality due to microorganism growth. This research aimed to determine the chemical, microbial and sensory qualities of peda sardines during four months of storage as affected by the salting pre-treatment process and the use of chitosan. The treatment consisted of P0K1=fish added 20% salt for 6 hours then washed + no chitosan added; P0K2=fish added 20% salt for 6 hours then washed + 2% chitosan; P1K1=fish soaked in freshwater for 6 hours + no chitosan; P1K2=fish soaked in fresh water for 6 hours + 2% chitosan; P2K1=fish left at ambient temperature for 6 hours + no chitosan; P2K2=fish left at ambient temperature for 6 hours + 2% chitosan. The peda salt content were 10.52-12.54% after fermentation (0 months) and increased significantly (P < 0.05) to 14.11-18.51% after four months, lactic acid bacteria count were 10.47–11.37 log cfu/g (0 month) and increased significantly (P < 0.05) to 13.15–14.26 log cfu/g (4 months). The treatment of P1K2 was able to preserve a strong peda aroma until 4 months. A total of 10 volatile components in peda with the highest peak were identified and grouped as alcohol, ketone, alkane, and carboxylic acid. Undecanone was the most prominent aroma compound in sardines peda, with a total area of 6.23%. The treatment of P1K2 resulted in the overall best quality of peda
The Implementation of Information Security for the Inventory System in a Municipality of Lima-Perú
In recent years, digital transformation has played an important role in all companies investing in technology. This investment greatly contributes to the daily tasks that companies carry out and can mean notable business growth. Also, it brings vulnerabilities that can be exploited by malicious people who, for any reason, seek to damage or appropriate the company's resources, thus directly or indirectly affecting business operations, which is why it is necessary to prevent these acts of vulnerability with the realization of information security. That is why the materials used to implement information security are explained in this work. The purpose of the research work is to identify, analyze, and evaluate to deal with the risks, thus better controlling the risks. This allowed us to land it in the conclusions made based on the objective and methodology used. It allowed us to have a sequence divided into three stages: initiation, planning, and execution. This helps us identify the infrastructure, times, risks, controls, policies, and information assets, in addition to evaluating and treating each risk identified in the District Municipality of Jesás MarÃa. This study showed that the implementation of information security has a positive impact since it helps make decisions for the protection of information assets
A Predictive Model for an Assistant System to identify Diabetes Mellitus
Given the high incidence in Mexico of Diabetes Mellitus (DM), it seems impossible for all patients to be monitored by a specialist. Therefore, preventive action and primary care contact services are an urgent need for early detection of this disease. This paper aims at proposing a model to calculate the risk factor from the information provided by the participant without requiring clinical studies. Firstly, the principal causes of DM are identified via an initial state-of-art analysis about DM pre-screening, screening, diagnosis, and treatment. Then, a digital survey was applied to a sample of fifty participants, all of whom were asked about their knowledge of DM’s causes. Afterward, an in-depth qualitative analysis of the answers was made. Results showed that only 36% of the interviewed subjects identified the main symptoms of DM, but 66% would be willing to consult with a doctor if they could identify the symptoms. The proposed digital system measures the perception of the user and provides quick information about the disease, considering DM Type 1 statistics. The system is based on conditional probability and clinic guides for prevention by identifying risk factors and pondering. Further extensive use of this assistance could raise awareness about the risk factor and provided a percentage of the probability of having DM Type 1, and the result could help detect DM in the early stages
A Simple and Cost-Effective Physical Distancing Violation Detector Using a Rotating Time of Flight Lidar
In this work, a simple and cost-effective physical distancing violation detector using a commercial lidar has been developed. Our system comprises time of flight (ToF) lidar, mounted a stepper motor to rotate ToF Lidar and range an object on the top. We control a rotation of the stepper motor, record the distance between the object and the ToF Lidar by using a microcontroller, and analyze the measuring data using a computer program. This system can also indirectly estimate the distance between two objects by applying a simple vector operation. This paper successfully detects and evaluates the distance between two dummy objects placed with various configurations. We obtained the estimated distances using our proposed method nearly equal to the actual distances measured manually. In addition, our system has been tested to measure the physical distances among people with three volunteers who stood 200 cm and 80 cm distances in an indoor environment. The experiment results show that the distance between volunteer 1 and volunteer 2 is 186.5 cm and the distance between volunteer 2 and volunteer 3 is 73.0 cm. These indicate our system could provide information whether a safe distance or a risk distance. This research work can help the authorities provide an instrument for reducing contagious diseases, especially COVID-19 pandemic outbreaks, by installing at a fixed location or in portable instrument services
Dynamic System for Silvofishery Pond Feasibility in North Sumatera, Indonesia
Silvofishery is the planting of mangroves in pond area. The commodities selected for silvofishery ponds include tiger shrimp, milkfish, and mangrove crab. The purpose of this research was to find the best silvofishery system based on the average net present value (NPV) using a dynamic model simulation and provide information about the effect of price changes or production of selected commodities on silvofishery. The results of this research showed that tiger shrimp and mud crab are the best and most feasible combinations for silvofishery, having an average NPV of 332.28/ha/year, and the silvofishery combination of milkfish and tiger shrimp has an average NPV of $-216.45/ha/year. The effect of price increases the variable cost price by 63.3%, which indicates that the silvofishery combination of tiger shrimp and mud crab is still feasible to run. The decline in the selling price of the commodities of tiger shrimps and mud crab by 70% and 50%, respectively, makes this combination still feasible to operate. On the other hand, the surrounding community’s level of consumption greatly affects the level of sale of the silvofishery commodity. Environmental management must also be practiced as best as possible to maintain the functioning of the environment around the ponds to avoid major losses, and periodic maintenance must be done by managers to achieve the production targets. The present study suggested that pond farmers must be wise in making decisions to implement the appropriate combination of silvofishery
Degradation of Imidacloprid Residue in Cabbage (Brassica oleracea) Using Advanced Oxidation Processes and Its Analyzing by Spectrophotometer and HPLC
Imidacloprid is a synthetic pesticide used to kill and control insects by cabbage farmers. Consuming cabbage contaminated with imidacloprid can cause health problems such as chronic kidney, reproductive disorders and cancer. The parameters for degradation of imidacloprid residue in cabbage were processing time (5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 min), water volume (50, 100, 150, and 200 mL), and sample mass (25, 50, 75, and 100 g). Degradation of imidacloprid residue in cabbage using Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOPs) methods such as ozonolysis, sonolysis, and sonozolysis were compared. Methods of ozonolysis, sonolysis, and sonozolysis have performed using an ozonicator (ozone dose: 400 mg h-1), sonicator (35 kHz), and a combination of both. Using spectrophotometers UV-Vis and High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) measurements showed a decrease in imidacloprid concentration after degradation. The degradation percentage of the imidacloprid residue with ozonolysis was higher than that of sonolysis and sonozolysis. The percentage of imidacloprid degradation by ozonolysis in 50 g cabbage at 100 mL of water increased to 82.53% for 15 min. The HPLC chromatogram showed no new peaks that formed after degradation. The imidacloprid residue’s degradation kinetics were then investigated. For all AOPs methods, the kinetic analysis demonstrated that imidacloprid degradation fit within a first-order kinetic model. The kinetic data showed that ozonolysis degraded imidacloprid with a half-life (t1/2) of 15.22 min, shorter than sonolysis and sonozolysis
Information Technology Literacy Impact on Research Results Publication
Information technology literacy highpoints the individual reputation in adaptation to searching and accessing information effectively. A lecturer needs to find the required information, evaluate and use information literacy wisely. This research applied a case study using online questionnaire. The main instrument in this study was based on the Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL) standard entails that research subjects are expected to find out more than just how to obtain information. Research subjects also understand the limitations of data usage, and they know how to organize the information. This study explores the impact of lecturers' literacy on information technology and research results in the International Journal. The lecturers’ literacy on information technology was described and interpreted by finding out the highest frequency linked with the publication of research results conducted through previous literature studies. Lecturers’ literacy on information technology in this study is concluded as good. Informants can determine the nature and scope of the information needed. Research subjects have sufficient skills in accessing the required information effectively and efficiently. Research subjects understand the importance of critically evaluating information and its sources and incorporating selected information into a knowledge base and value system. Individually or as members of a group, informants can use information effectively to fulfill certain objectives. The researchers recommend that senior lecturers investigate and build stronger information literacy skills in order to improve the amount and quality of research results published
