Optimasi Paket Pupuk Tunggal pada Tanaman Kelapa Sawit Belum Menghasilkan Umur Satu Tahun
ABSTRACTEffective and efficient fertilization is affected by fertilizer dose, and therefore information on the appropriate dose of a single fertilizer for oil palm will be beneficial to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of fertilization in oil palm plantations. The objectives of this research were to study the response patterns and to determine optimum rate of single fertilizer package related to the growth of one year old oil palm trees. The experiment was conducted from March 2013 to February 2014 at IPB-Cargill Teaching and Research Farm of Oil Palm, Jonggol Bogor. The experiment was arranged in randomized block design with one factor and replicated three times. The treatments were four single fertilizer package as followed: control, 300 g urea + 375 g SP-36 + 350 g KCl + 25 g boric acid + 25 g CuSO4.5H2O, 600 g urea + 750 g SP-36 + 700 g KCl + 25 g boric acid + 25 g CuSO4.5H2O, 900 g urea + 1125 g SP-36 + 1050 g KCl + 25 g boric acid + 25 g CuSO4.5H2O per plant. The result showed that application of single fertilizer package significantly increased the growth of young oil palm linearly as shown by plant height, stem girth, leaf area of frond number 9, chlorophyll and P content of the leaves and quadratically on leaf number at the last observation. The optimum rate of single fertilizer for one year old oil palm trees had not been attained at this research because the plant growth response to fertilization was still linear.Keywords: inorganic, leaf frond number 9, optimum rate, growth response, stem girt
Peran Pupuk Organik dalam Peningkatan Efisiensi Pupuk Anorganik pada Padi Sawah (Oryza sativa L.)
ABSTRACTApplication of organic fertilizer into the soil is designated as a source of macro, micro nutrients and organic acids; it also acts as soil ameliorant that improve physical, chemical and biological properties of soil. Application of high rates organic fertilizer has a constraint namely the availability and ease of application. Therefore, it is necessary to learn the use of organic fertilizer with low rates to improve the efficiency of chemical fertilizers. This research was aimed to study the effect of organic and inorganic fertilizers on growth and yield of paddy rice, as well as the efficiency of N, P, K inorganic fertilizer. Field experiment was conducted at Sawah Baru Research Station, University Farm IPB, Bogor, West Java from September to December 2013. The experiment used Randomized Block Design consisted of two factors: rates of organic fertilizer (0, 250, 500, 750, and 1,000 kg ha-1), and rates of inorganic fertilizer (0, 100, 200, 300, and 400 kg ha-1). The results suggested that the application of 1,000 kg organic fertilizer ha-1 + 400 kg inorganic fertilizer ha-1 did not show significant interaction. Application of organic fertilizer alone up to 1,000 kg ha-1 resulted in low growth and yield. Increasing rates of application up to 400 kg inorganic fertilizer ha-1 increased the growth and yield of paddy rice. The highest N efficiency was 89.19% at a rate of 500 kg organic fertilizer ha-1 + 200 kg inorganic fertilizer ha-1, whereas the highest efficiency of P and K, respectively were 69.55% and 92.52% at a rate of 750 kg organic fertilizer ha-1 + 300 kg inorganic fertilizer ha-1.Keywords: NPK, organic fertilizer, paddy ric
Penampilan Agronomi dan Uji Toleransi Naungan Galur Dihaploid Padi Gogo Hasil Kultur Antera
ABSTRACTShifting of upland rice cultivation to marginal land faces drought stress, while planting under young plantation faces shading stress. There should be lines or varieties with good agronomic character and tolerant to the shading stress. Lines used in this experiment were obtained from anther culture, i.e., III3-4-6-1, I5-10-1-1, WI-44, GI-7, O18-b-1, IW-67, IG-19, IG-38, IW-56, B13-2-e. Two experiments were conducted, i.e., agronomic performance experiment and shading tolerance experiment with a quick test method at seedling phase. Batutegi and Way Rarem were used as check varieties in the agronomic experiment. In shading tolerance experiment, Kalimutu was used as sensitive check and Jatiluhur was tolerant check varieties. The results of experiment indicated that B13-2-e (4.64 ton ha-1) and WI-44 line (4.05 ton ha-1) dihaploid lines showed high grain yield and comparable to Way Rarem (4.95 ton ha-1). B13-2-e and WI-44 lines were tolerant to shading. Another tolerant lines to shading, i.e., I5-10-1-1, O18-b-1, and IW-56. B13-2-e and WI-44 lines were recommended to advanced verification on multiple cropping system.Keywords: dry land, multiple croppin
Hasil Biji dan Kadar Minyak Jarak Kepyar Lokal Beaq Amor (Ricinus communis L.) pada Berbagai Umur Pemangkasan Batang Utama
ABSTRACTSuccessful castor (Ricinus communis L.) cropping depends on the reliability of production technique. Branching is a useful agronomic trait because infloresence developed at each branch’s terminal. Pruning is considered as an important technique for branching stimulation. This study attempted to elucidate the effect of main stem pruning on the yield of Beaq Amor local variety of castor (Ricinus communis L.) with short cultivation system. The experiment was conducted on dry land area of Amor-Amor, North Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara during February-July 2011 and was arranged in a single-factor randomized complete block design with three replications. The treatments were four types of pruning (i.e. no pruning, main stem pruning at 30 days after planting, 45 days after planting, and 60 days after planting). The results showed that the effect of pruning was significant on dry seed yield and was not significant on kernel oil content. Pruning at 30 days old and 45 days old plant yielded in the highest dry seed weight (374.9-387.8 g tree-1 or 943.0-974.3 kg ha-1) with oil content of 62.2%.Keywords: branching, canopy, dry seed, Ricinus communis L
Interaksi Genotipe x Lingkungan Hasil dan Komponen Hasil 14 Genotipe Tomat di Empat Lingkungan Dataran Rendah
Genotype x environment interaction (GxE) information is needed by plant breeders to assist the identification of superior genotype. Stability analysis can be done if there is a GxE interaction, to show the stability of a genotype when planted in different environments. This study aimed to estimate the effects of genotype x environment interaction on yield and yield components of fruit weight per plant as well as to look at the stability of 14 tomato genotypes at four lowland locations. The study was conducted at four locations, namely Purwakarta, Lombok, Tajur and Leuwikopo. Experiments at each location was arranged in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Stability analysis was performed using the AMMI model. Fruit weight, fruit diameter, number of fruits per plant and total fruit weight per plant characters showed highly significant genotype x environment interactions. Variability due to the effect of GxE interaction based on a AMMI2 contributed by 88.50%. IPBT3, IPBT33, IPBT34, IPBT60 and Intan were stable genotypes under AMMI model.Keywords: AMMI, multilocation trial
Optimasi Dosis Pupuk Kalsium dan Magnesium pada Bibit Kelapa Sawit (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) di Pembibitan Utama
Oil palm is one of the important plantation crops in the plantation sector. Increased oil palm plantation area causes the need for the availability of oil palm seedlings in large quantities. Good quality oil palm seedlings were obtained through intensive maintenance especially fertilization. Fertilizers needed for the growth of oil palm seedlings include calcium and magnesium fertilizers. The objective of this experiment was to determine the optimum rates of calcium and magnesium fertilizer for oil palm seedling (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.). This experiment was conducted at Cikabayan Experimental Station, IPB Darmaga, Bogor, from December 2011 to November 2012. The experimental design used was factorial randomized block design with three replications. The first factor was Ca fertilizer rates i.e., 0, 5, 10, and 20 g CaCO3 plant-1. The second factor was Mg fertilizer rates, i.e., 0, 24, 48, and 96 g MgSO4 plant-1. The results showed that calcium affected stomatal density, whereas magnesium fertilizer affected morphological and physiological variables (stomatal density and chlorophyll content) of oil palm seedling. Based on the plant height and stem diameter, the recommended rate of magnesium fertilizer for 8 months oil palm seedlings in the main nursery was 58 g plant-1. This total rate should be applied at different amount every month from 1-8 month, at 2.0, 2.0, 8.0, 9.3, 8.8, 9.3, 9.4 and 9.3 g MgSO4 plants-1, respectively. Karakter Morfofisiologi dan Fisikokimia Beras dengan Berbagai Dosis Pemupukan Organik dan Hayati pada Budidaya Padi Organik
ABSTRACTThe awareness of the negative impacts of conventional agriculture has been encouraging people to switch from conventional farming to the organic farming, using organic and biological fertilizers. This farming system changes will influence the character of the plant and the yield. The objective of the research was to investigate the morphophysiology and physicochemical characters of rice with various rates of organic and biological fertilizer. The experiment was conducted at rice field in Karawang and Bogor, West Java, from May to September 2012. The experiment used a single factor randomized block design consisted of three replications with 12 treatments. The first 6 treatments were 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 ton organic fertilizer ha-1, and the other 6 treatments were 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 ton organic fertilizer ha-1 combined with 2 l biological fertilizer ha-1. As control treatment was application of anorganic fertilizer with the rate of 400 kg NPK (30-6-8) ha-1. Plot size was 15 m x 10 m, with a double row spacing (legowo 2:1) (25 cm x 15 cm x 50). The results showed that organic fertilizer either without or with biological fertilizers increased the weight of 1,000 grains and decreased amylose content of rice. The score of leaf color in plants with inorganic fertilizer was higher than those with organic fertilizer.Keywords: amylose, gelatinization temperature, leaf color, water uptake ratio, 1,000 grain weigh
Peran Pupuk Organik dalam Meningkatkan Efektivitas Pupuk NPK pada Bibit Kelapa Sawit di Pembibitan Utama
Main nursery is the first step affecting oil palm’s age and productivity. Good plant growth will produce high quality and yield of oil palm. The demand of oil palm seedlings for extensification and replantation increases continuously, and therefore this need to be supported by precise fertilization programs. The objectives of this experiment were to investigate the role of organic fertilizer and to obtain the best organic-NPK fertilizer combination in increasing the effectiveness of the use of NPK fertilizer for the growth of oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) seedling in the main nursery. The experiment was conducted from December 2011 to September 2012 at IPB Teaching Farm Dramaga Bogor. The treatment was arranged in a factorial randomized block design with three replications. The first factor was amount of organic fertilizer consisted of 0:6, 1:6, 2:6, and 3:6 of the soil volume (6 kg). The second factor was NPK fertilizer rates, i.e., 0.0, 127.5, 255, and 382.5 g NPK per plant. The results showed that application of organic fertilizer increased the effectiveness of NPK fertilizer and could be a substitute for NPK fertilizer in oil palm seedlings. The best combination treatment was 2:6 (organic fertilizer:top soil) and 382.5 NPK g per plant with effectiveness of 158.9, 209.1 and 170.1 % for plant height, leaf number and stem diameter, respectively. The efficiency of N, P, and K application were 56.2, 11.1, and 29.0% for the same variables, respectively. Based on morphological variables, recommended rate of an NPK compound fertilizer 15-15-15 was in the range of 396.05 g per seedling for eight months. Recommended NPK were 7.00, 12.59, 37.58, 56.41, 36.74, 87.00, 86.60, and 72.97 g per seedling for first to eighth months, respectively.Keywords: chlorophyll, fertilizer recomendation, morphological and physiological response, nutrient balanc
Peningkatan Toleransi Rendaman Padi Lokal Rawa Lebak dengan Introgresi Gen Sub1
ABSTRACTOne of efforts to increase rice production at swamp area which is frequently flooded is the use of submergence tolerant rice varieties. The objectives of this research was to improve plant tolerance after submergence stress for 14 days in BC1F1 of crosses between local superior varieties and Sub1 gen donor (FR13A). The studies were carried out in two stages: 1) Crossing local superior varieties, i.e., Pegagan (Pgn), Siam (Sm), Payak Selimbuk (Pys), dan Pelita Rampak (Plr) to submergence tolerant variety FR13A; and 2) submergence tolerance evaluation of the progeny. The first study was conducted at green house of Graduate Study Sriwijaya University, Palembang. The second study was carried out at field experiment of Central Research and Development of Agricultural Biotechnology and Genetic Resources in Bogor. All studies were conducted from March 2011 until March 2013. The first study was the introgression of Sub1 gene into local genotypes Payak Selimbuk, Pegagan, Siam and Pelita Rampak from FR13A. The second study was evaluation of BC1F1 plant performance after submergence treatment for 14 days. The results showed that introgression of Sub1 gene into local varieties improved submergence tolerance as indicated by higher percentage of survived plants, lower decrease of plant dry weight, and lower decrease of grain weight per panicle compared to parents.Keywords: Sub1 gene, local swamp rice, submergence toleran
Radiosensitivitas dan Keragaman Ubi Kayu (Manihot esculenta Crantz) Hasil Iradiasi Sinar Gamma
ABSTRACTHigh genetic variability is one of important determinants in successful breeding of clonally propagated crops such as cassava. Induced mutation, including mutagenesis using gamma irradiation, is one strategy to increase genetic variability. The objective of this research was to obtain information of lethal doses (LD20-LD50) from five cassava genotypes (Jame-jame, Ratim, UJ-5, Malang-4, and Adira-4), to analyze the variability, and to obtain potentially high yielding cassava mutant candidates. Cuttings of several cassava genotypes were irradiated by 0, 15, 30, 45, and 60 Gy gamma rays. The results showed that genotype Malang-4 had the lowest LD20 (7.53 Gy) and LD50 (18.47 Gy), while genotype Jame-jame had the highest LD20 (24.94 Gy) and LD50 (33.24 Gy). The highest phenotype variability was obtained in the cassava population irradiated by 15-30 Gy gamma rays. The highest phenotype variability was also determined by the source of tissue, i.e., cuttings from the middle stem resulted in the highest phenotype variability.
