Karakterisasi Sifat Agronomi Tanaman Padi Beras Merah Dihaploid Berpotensi Hasil Tinggi Diperoleh melalui Kultur Antera Antera
Observation and identification of rice germplasm with advanced traits are important activities in the process of obtaining a variety of rice because every genotype will show unique characters. Genotype derived from breeding program as anther culture need to be characterized to identify the doubled haploid lines that are potential to be developed in red rice breeding. This research was aimed to obtain agronomic characters of doubled haploid lines of red rice. Materials used were 59 genotypes, i.e., 57 doubled haploid (DH0) lines with red grain and 2 check varieties (Inpari 24 and Aek Sibundong) as control. The experiment used a randomized complete block design with three replications. The results exhibited there was agronomic variation among DH0 of red rice lines. Variance analysis showed that genotype affected most characters, except for grain dry weight per hill. Plant height, number of productive tiller, harvesting age, panicle length, number of grains per panicle, and number of filled grain per panicle can be used as a reference for effective selection to develop high productivity of red rice variety
Penampilan Pertumbuhan dan Hasil Beberapa Genotipe Jagung Calon Hibrida Umur Genjah di Lahan Kering
Maize is commonly developed in dry land areas with limited irrigation water in Indonesia, thereby posing a threat to its poductivity. Thus, availability of early harvest varieties able to adapt to limited water is important. The aim of this study was to analyze the performance of maize hybrid genotypes candidates in dry land. The research was conducted from April to July 2016 at Gowa, South Sulawesi. The experiment was designed with a randomized complete block design consisting of 8 genotypes, namely GJ1, GJ2, GJ3, GJ4, GJ5, GJ6, GJ7, GJ8, and two control varieties, i.e., Bima 7 and Lamuru. The results showed genotypes GJ1, GJ6, GJ7 and GJ8 had higher plant growth as compared to Bima 7 and Lamuru. All genotypes were harvested less than 90 days. Genotypes GJ6, GJ7, and GJ8 yielded 6.85 tons ha-1, 6.51 tons ha-1 and 8.31 tons ha-1, respectively, which were higher 13-45% than the Lamuru control variety. Because this experiment was carried out in an optimun condition, it would be necessary to further study the three genotypes in drought stress conditions before being developed for early harvest and high yielding hybrid varieties
Pendugaan Kehilangan Hasil pada Tanaman Padi Rebah Akibat Terpaan Angin Kencang dan Curah Hujan Tinggi
AbstractRice lodging due to incident of extreme weather, i.e., combination of strong winds and high rainfall is eviden in Indonesia. However, yield loss in the area is rarely studied. In order to estimate yield loss on rice, a model for calculating the yield reduction was developed. The objective of present study was to analyze the effect of strong winds and high rainfall incidents on yield loss of rice in the field. The study was conducted at the Sawah Baru IPB, Bogor, Indonesia from February to April, 2016 on rice plots severe from natural incident of strong wind and high rainfall. The results showed that rice lodging from strong wind and high rainfall formed patterns and specific formations. We determined four major lodging formations, five lodging degrees, and eleven different patterns due to wind direction. Overall, lodging occured on research area of 27.6% with production loss up to 11.89%. This research showed that estimation of yield loss due to incident of extreme weather could be conducted in the level of field based on area of coverage and degree of lodging. Application of the model on wider area needs further evaluation. Keywords: Agronomic character, extreme weather adaptation, modelling, lodging, rice variet
Kemiripan dan Potensi Produksi Aksesi Pohpohan (Pilea trinervia Wight.) dari Beberapa Daerah di Jawa Barat
Pohpohan (Pilea trinervia Wight.) is potential indigenous vegetable to be developed as a commercial vegetables. The objectives of this research were to observe similarity and production potential of pohpohan landraces from several areas in West Java. Result based on cluster analysis at nine similarity scale, thirteen exploration pohpohan landraces were grouped into three clusters. Clusters I consisted of Warung Loa, Tugu Selatan, Palasari, Langensari, Kayu Ambon, Lebak Muncang, Situsari, Sukalilah and Lebaksiuh. Clusters II consisted of Curug Rendeng, Argalingga and Linggarjati and clusters III was Bobojong. Result from further test using Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT), Warung Loa is a leading landrace because showed the best result on plant height, primary branches number, leaf width, yield per plot and plant productivity. Keywords: Cluster analysis, exploration, indigenous vegetabl
Penentuan Indeks Seleksi Toleransi Kekeringan Galur Dihaploid Padi Sawah Tadah Hujan pada Fase Perkecambahan
Rainfed rice tolerant to drought and high yielding would be an alternative to rainfed lowland areas prone to drought stress. Selection in the early phase of plant growth will accelerate the effort to obtain rainfed varieties. The objective of this experiment was to identify characters that significantly affect the selection of drought tolerance using PEG 6000 concentration of 25% in the germination phase. The experiment was conducted in greenhouse of ICABIOGRAD, Bogor, using a factorial randomized complete block design with three replications. The first factor was 32 rice genotypes while the second factor was 2 levels of PEG 6000, i.e., concentrations of 0 and 25%. The results showed that the correlation analysis and principal component analysis obtain the important characters namely the germination percentage, seminal root length, and the dry weight of seminal roots. Based on discriminant analysis, the index matching value of 96.77% was suitable to distinguish tolerant and sensitive genotypes using PEG 6000 concentration of 25% in the germination phase
Karakterisasi Morfoekotipe dan Proksimat Pala Banda (Myristica fragrans Houtt.)
A field research was conducted to study morpho-ecotype and proximate aspects of Banda nutmeg (Myristica fragrans Houtt.) in three ecotypes: Banda Islands, Ambon Island, and Ceram Island in Maluku. The objectives of the study were to characterize morpho-ecotype of the Banda nutmeg, to investigate the trees productivity across three ecotypes, and to identify the proximate characteristics of the fruit. Ten productive nutmeg sample trees aged ranging 25 to 50 years were chosen for observations. In morphological observation, 21 items were described based on IBPGR procedure, and then subjected to UPGMA cluster analysis. The proximates of nutmeg flesh including edible portion (EP), water content, protein content, fat content, and pectin content were analyzed by AOAC procedure. Morphological and proximate data were analyzed using SAS. Results show that Moluccas ecotypes characterized by hill and mountain has tectonic mountain physiography and karst soils with a slope of 16 to 40%. Ambon and Banda ecotypes are mainly composed of volcanic soils, whilst Luhu has sediment. The climate of Moluccas ecotype is dominated by IIIC type, except Banda Island which has IIB. The morphological traits of the nutmeg are stabile across three ecotypes (similarity index, SI 90%). Productions of fruit, nutmeg, and mace show no difference between the three sites. They are 137.73, 19.27, and 3.07 kg per tree, respectively. All proximate parameters analyzed are not statistically different, except EP. EP of Ambon ecotype is statistically different from that of Ceram but it is similar to Banda ecotype
Karakteristik Daun Jarak Pagar (Jatropha curcas L.) dan Hubungannya dengan Fotosintesis
The objective of this research was to study the morphology and physiology of jatropha leaves and its relation to photosynthesis. Research was conducted using Randomized Complete Block Design with single factor, i.e., leaf ages at the canopy with ten replications. The results showed that jatropha had phyllotaxy 5/13 with angular divergence 1380 . In early growing leaf enlarged sharply and then constant after 9 week, remaining green for 14 weeks. Chlorophyll a, b, and total achieved maximum at 9 week, i.e., 0.45 g/cm2 , 0.19 g/cm2 , and 0.62 g/cm2 , respectively. Photosynthesic rate was maximum at 6 week, i.e., 8.99 µmol/m2 /s, while number of stomata was maximum at 9 week (289.47 mm2 ). This finding implies that leaf number 11 to 13 or age 6 week after emergence could be used as reference for photosynthetic evaluation
