Get PDFThe Javanese ethnic community is widespread throughout the archipelago, although it is not well-known as an ethnic group that likes to wander. One of the places that later became the new residence of this ethnic group was the city of Merauke in Papua. The area at the easternmost tip of Indonesia. Far from the area of origin and have never even been to the island of Java, it is common for the Javanese people who live in Merauke to live. This can be a factor causing the weakening of the "Javanese" of the Javanese ethnic community in Merauke, especially the younger generation. Based on this hypothesis, this research was conducted to find out how the Javanese people use the Javanese language in Merauke. This research is qualitative. Researchers used a questionnaire in the form of open and closed questions to collect data. The population of this study was students of Javanese ethnicity, Musamus University, Merauke. Based on the data found by the researchers, it can be seen that the younger generation of Javanese living in Merauke has a low level of mastery of the Javanese language, especially the Javanese Kromo language
HOW YOUTUBE INFLUENCES CHILDREN LANGUAGE ACQUISITIONS AND IMPACT THEIR ADVANCEMENT?: AN INVESTIGATION TO THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL’S KIDS
Get PDFThis study aims to investigate the children language acquisition advancement based on YouTube platform influence. To achieve this aim, this research applied qualitative methods as qualitative research. The participants of this study were three children at the elementary level and their parents in a different place. The data of this study were attained from interviews using open-ended questions and observations. Thematic analysis was implemented in this study. The result of the analysis showed that YouTube has positively influenced the children’s language acqusition development. The duration of watching is directly proportional to the level of children language acquisition development. The variations in children’s vocabulary are influenced by the type of content. Video blogging is part of informal environment for children in learning new things as also language given the benefit in this research which is hoped to lead more research in the language acquisition development in children level

The aim of this research is to present an edited text of Suluk Linglung Seh Malaya that is undefiled by error, so that the general public is able to read and understand a manuscript. Furthermore, content analysis is to analyze the contents of the manuscript. This research used Philology approach. The method used a mixed-method by mean of the standard editing method. Which is to correct. It used a standardized dictionary or ruler. From this research, it appears the efforts the Seh Malaya or Sunan Kalijaga, in seeking the perfection of life and drawing out knowledge from Sunan Bonang afterwards

Get PDFThis study aims to describe the rattan craft as a cultural heritage of the Dayak Lundayeh in the perspective of local wisdom in the Pulau Sapi tourist village, mentarang sub-district, malinau district. The sources in this study are rattan handicraft makers, rattan collectors who produce rattan crafts in the Pulau Sapi tourist village, Mentarang sub-district, Malinau district. Type of qualitative descriptive research. Data collection method by conducting literature review, observation, in depth interviews and documentation. Based on the results of the research as follows: 1) how to choose a good rattan to use in making rattan crafts. First: clean around the rattan to be taken. Second: the types of rattan that can be taken are leaves that have peeled off from the rattan stem which are brown in color and the texture of the rattan is not too old and easy so it is good to. 2) the value of local wisdom contained in rattan crafts is the value in the manufacturing process. First: patience in weaving rattan crafts, so that it can be applied in everyday life to be patient to get good results. Second: accuracy, get maximum results to have good quality. Third: perseverance, good use of time in doing something in a short time. Fourth: neatness, to get good results and become an attraction to the model and a neat arrangement. Fifth: beauty, in addition to neatness, the important thing to note is also about beauty as an added value in appearance. Sixth: don’t give up easily, in making something everything doesn’t always go well there must be mistakes, so in making rattan crafts you must have an unyielding spirit and want to try

The portrayal of Chang'e's character in the film has undergone several changes and “Alih Wahana” by filmmaker's. Therefore, researchers are interested in analyzing the depiction of Chang'e in the film "Over the Moon". The purpose of this research is to analyze the portrayal of Chang'e's character in the film "Over the Moon". This study uses qualitative research methods with data collection techniques in the form of documentation from the film "Over the Moon". The approach used is a narrative approach that focuses on the study of an individual. Chang'e's character in the film has changed from the story in the Chang'e legend, some of these changes are character and visual changes. Chang'e's character in the film is made narcissistic because of her loneliness, while Chang'e's visuals in the film are made attractive with bold makeup and magnificent and diverse clothing
GENRE OF APPLICATION DESCRIPTION ON GOOGLE PLAY STORE; A FUNCTIONAL LINGUISTIC STUDY
Get PDFStartups are growing massively at the national and international level. Many applications with similar features are available in application markets. This demands application developers to present their competitive advantage to convince users to download and use their applications. This study used a qualitative descriptive method with functional systemic linguistic approach to identify the elements that make up the genre of application description. The data in this study are application descriptions from the 10 best startups according to startupranking.com. The data, in the form of clauses, were analyzed based on three language metafunctions, namely ideational, textual and interpersonal. The results of this study indicate that there are certain patterns used by the application descriptions of the 10 best startups in the world. The most common linguistic elements found are: the use of process materials to describe experiences in using applications; the use of relational attributive processes to provide assessments and descriptions of applications; the use of rhemes without themes and residues without subjects in imperative sentences that aim to invite readers to download applications; the use of textual themes which are manifested in conjunctions; and some interpersonal themes in the form of rhetorical interrogative sentences

Javanese society has a characteristic that is fond of carrying out traditions related to life, such as the life cycle tradition, namely the neloni tradition. The people in Ponorogo Regency are Javanese people who have lived through a long period and various problems related to their lives so that a cultural system is formed in their identity. The neloni tradition according to the Ponorogo community is a tradition to ask for safety and blessings when a pregnant woman is about three months old. In the neloni tradition, there are offerings or sharpening devices. Sharpening has various forms and names. The focus of this research examines the meaning of "name" or "term" asahan as a prayer medium in the Neloni traditional ceremony in Ponorogo Regency. Asahan can be in the form of offerings or food that is formed according to the purpose of holding the traditional ceremony. The method of collecting data is done using interviews and observations of the community who carry out the tradition and who understand the tradition in Ponorogo Regency. After analyzing the data, the results obtained are 17 names of asahan which have the meaning of a medium of prayer asking for safety, happiness, and performance
THE ASPECTS OF HINDUISM IN POE’S TALES, “LIGEIA” AND “MORELLA”: A STUDY OF REINCARNATION
Get PDFThis study is an attempt to discuss (1) what Hinduism is. (2) what the concept of reincarnation is.(3) what aspects of Hinduism reflected in Poe’s tales “Ligeia” and “Morella”. This study used American Studies theory that is the reconciliation of time (past, present, future), of space and of academic disciplines that are philosophical, historical, and literary approaches. The literary approach used, in this case, is the expressive one. The method applied in this study is analytical descriptive that utilizes library research and concentrates the attention on reference sources related to the topic discussed. The Result of the study shows that there are the aspects of Hinduism namely the wandering spirit and the reincarnation. In Poe’s tales, “Ligeia” and “Morella” the wandering spirit happens when they died. Ligeia, the main character reincarnate into Rowena and Rowena becomes Ligeia again. Morella reincarnates into her baby, Morella. It is the same name

Oral literature is literature that includes expressions of the citizens of a culture caused and passed down by oral literature (by word of mouth). As part of culture, oral literature cannot be separated from the influence of values that live and develop in society. These positive values can shape children's character and can foster a love for regional culture. Oral literature can also introduce the culture of the archipelago to students. This study seeks to contribute to literary learning in elementary schools, in this case oral folklore in Sundanese folklore can be used as a source of literary learning material so that folklore can be used as an alternative source of teaching materials by teachers during the learning process.
