    Genre Drama sebagai Favorit di Netflix Periode Januari – Juni 2021

    Netflix is a film exhibition platform in digital format. Netflix is one of the favourite platforms for film enthusiasts, especially among the respondents in this study. Netflix is included in the Non-Theatrical Exhibition Film category with its popular term Over-The-Top. Netflix is categorized explicitly as SVOD (Subscription Video On Demand). In this study, we do not only look at the categorization of films based on the primary genre but also look at the secondary film genres. According to respondents, the secondary genre of films is one aspect of selecting films on the Netflix platform.This study used a quantitative approach with a cluster random sampling method. The sample used in this research was students of the Film Study Program, Faculty of Art and Design, Multimedia Nusantara University. The results of this study show that in the period January - July 2021, the film Ali & Ratu Ratu Queens is an Indonesian film that many Netflix users watch. In addition, the film Sweet & Sour is the most-watched international film by respondents. Respondents in this study stated that there is a need for film categorization. Still, film categorization is not only based on the primary genre but there needs to be a secondary genre as well. Films in the drama genre are the favourite of the respondents in this study, both primary and secondary drama genres

    Efektivitas Video Youtube “Mengubah Sampah Plastik Menjadi Sumber Daya Energi Berkelanjutan” Menggunakan Model Epic

    ABSTRAKIndonesia merupakan negara penyumbang sampah plastik terbesar kedua di dunia dengan total sampah yang tidak terkelola dengan baik mencapai 3,22 juta ton per tahunnya. Hal ini tentu berdampak signifikan terhadap kerusakan lingkungan. Melalui penelitian ini digagaslah sebuah video yang bertujuan menginformasikan kepada masyarakat tentang permasalahan sampah yang ada di lingkungan sekitar dan bagaimana pengelolaan sampah yang sejauh ini sudah dilakukan di Indonesia. Melalui publikasi via Youtube, dilakukanlah analisis dengan menggunakan model EPIC yang dikembangkan oleh AC Nielsen untuk mengukur efektivitas video dalam mempengaruhi keputusan audiens dalam menyikapi penggunaan teknologi yang membantu dalam pengelolaan sampah plastik. Penelitian kuantitatif ini melibatkan 100 masyarakat Kota Batam sebagai populasi penelitian, adapun beberapa kategori masyarakat yang digunakan sebagai sampel penelitian, yaitu buruh, karyawan, pengajar dan pelajar. Penelitian ini mencakup variabel terikat yaitu keputusan audiens dalam menyikapi penggunaan teknologi pengelola sampah plasik, dan variabel bebas yang terdiri dari empathy, persuasion, impact, communication (EPIC). Penelitian ini melibatkan 100 responden dengan hasil kajian menyatakan bahwa EPIC rate Sangat Efektif yang menggambarkan keputusan audiens dalam merespons penggunaan teknologi yang membantu dalam mengelola sampah plastik, dengan nilai sebesar 4,26.  The Effectiveness of YouTube Video “Mengubah Sampah Plastik Menjadi Sumber Daya Energi Berkelanjutan” Using EPIC Model. As the second-largest contributor to plastic waste globally, Indonesia does not have a proper procedure to manage annual waste for about 3,22 million tones. It gives the significant damage for the environment. This study aims to give information to the audience about the waste problem as well as how Indonesia controls their waste. Youtube is utilized as a platform to publish the video in which several data from related publication will be analyzed using EPIC model. This method was used to observe how effective the video works on the audience’s decision in terms of deciding which kind of technology aids them on waste management. This quantitative study involved 100 respondents from people who live in Batam as the research population and there are several category of community, such as labor, employees, students, and teachers as the research samples. This study includes the dependent variable, namely the audience’s decision to use plastic waste management technology, and the independent variables that consist of empathy, persuasion, impact, and communication. The result of the study showed that within the scale of 4.26, the video is very effective to affect the audience’s decision on using the technology to assist the manage the waste

    Batik, a cultural artifact full of philosophical values, is now seen as just a part of fashion style and a sweetening element. Many people, especially children, do not understand the symbolic meanings of the aesthetic elements of batik. This problem is commonplace in Indonesia, including Cirebon. As batik centers, only a few schools in Cirebon provide opportunities for their students to learn batik. If the meaning of batik is to be taught to the younger generation, then an approach using new media can be an alternative to introduce it persuasively. One medium that is close and has the potential to introduce batik to children is 2D animation. The research method that will be used is qualitative. The animation process starts with several stages, from collecting data about the batik we want to make into a story theme: Batik Sawat Pengantin Cirebon. Data collection was done by direct observation and interviews. After the data is collected, the next step is to search for story ideas, create scenarios, design visual concepts, and create storyboards. Then, the animation production process can be carried out. This research will focus on the storyboard design part, namely the clean-up storyboard and animatic storyboard, which will guide in making 2D animation

    ABSTRACTThe Covid-19 pandemic, which occurred in the past 3 years, has forced art activists to reduce activities that involve many people. Meanwhile, art activities that gather many people are still needed as a means of publishing artworks from art activists. Augmented Reality (AR) technology has been widely applied to art exhibitions. To be able to take advantage of this technology, users must come to the exhibition site and scan an object at the exhibition site, resulting in a buildup of visitors at the exhibition site. For this reason, it is necessary to build an application that can be used to enjoy content from the exhibition without having to go to the exhibition location. This study aims to design an application that can be used by the audience to be able to enjoy the content of the art exhibition without having to go to the exhibition site. The use of AR Technology is applied as a tool to ostensibly bring artwork to the location of the application user, so that it can be enjoyed directly. The design of the ARt Exhibition application is expected to be a solution for art activists and connoisseurs to be able to enjoy art exhibitions anywhere personally so that the spread of the Covid-19 virus can be minimized. ARthibition: Mendesain Pameran Seni Rupa dengan Augmented Reality. Pandemi Covid-19 yang terjadi dalam tiga tahun terakhir memaksa para pegiat seni mengurangi aktivitas yang melibatkan banyak orang. Sementara itu, kegiatan seni yang menghimpun banyak orang masih dibutuhkan sebagai sarana penerbitan karya seni dari para pegiat seni. Teknologi Augmented Reality (AR) telah banyak diterapkan dalam pameran seni rupa. Untuk dapat memanfaatkan teknologi ini, pengguna harus datang ke lokasi pameran dan memindai objek di lokasi pameran sehingga terjadi penumpukan pengunjung di lokasi pameran. Untuk itu, perlu dibangun sebuah aplikasi yang dapat digunakan untuk menikmati konten dari pameran tanpa harus pergi ke lokasi pameran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang sebuah aplikasi yang dapat digunakan oleh penonton untuk dapat menikmati isi dari pameran seni rupa tanpa harus mendatangi lokasi pameran. Penggunaan teknologi AR diterapkan sebagai alat untuk membawa karya seni ke lokasi pengguna aplikasi sehingga dapat dinikmati secara langsung. Perancangan aplikasi pameran seni rupa ini diharapkan dapat menjadi solusi bagi para pegiat dan penikmat seni rupa untuk dapat menikmati pameran seni rupa dimanapun secara personal sehingga penyebaran virus Covid-19 dapat diminimalka

    Konstruksi Women Empowerment pada Film "Marlina si Pembunuh dalam Empat Babak"

    Women empowerment merupakan salah satu bentuk gerakan perlawanan perempuan dalam gender. Bentuk perlawanan tersebut adalah mengenai stigma perempuan yang masih dianggap lemah, bahkan di era ini. Salah satu bentuk perlawanan perempuan terhadap gender tampak terlihat dalam film Marlina si Pembunuh dalam Empat Babak. Berdasar pada latar belakang tersebut, penelitian ini bermaksud untuk menganalisis konstruksi women empowerment dalam film Marlina si Pembunuh dalam Empat Babak. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan melihat konteks-konteks yang tersembunyi dari adegan film. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif analitis dengan pendekatan literature film. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aspek mise-en-scene dapat mengkonstruksi women empowerment dengan didukung oleh dimensi penokohan.     Dokumenter “Mereka” merupakan proyek jangka panjang, menceritakan kisah hidup tokoh yang tekun dan berdedikasi di bidangnya masing-masing. Pemilihan genre biografi sebagai cara tutur memudahkan penonton untuk mengikuti rangkaian peristiwa yang dialami tokoh hingga membentuk ekspresi personal dalam setiap karya-karyanya. Dokumenter biografi seringkali digunakan sebagai media untuk menginspirasi dan memberikan pemahaman yang lebih dalam dari subjek filmnya. Episode kali ini, membahas ekspresi personal Risman Marah sebagai seorang maestro fotografer. Risman Marah, bukan nama asing bagi dunia fotografi Indonesia. Karya, kepakaran, hingga dedikasinya tak perlu diragukan lagi. Namun, seperti apa kehidupan Risman Marah dahulu kala? Tempaan alam dan kondisi seperti apa hingga ia menemukan jalurnya dalam fotografi. Kisah-kisah di luar proses memotret diyakini juga memiliki andil yang besar dalam kiprahnya pada dunia fotografi, baik sebagai pendidik maupun praktisi. Pertanyaan-pertanyaan tadi akan dirumuskan dengan membongkar arsip visual subjek dan diceritakan kembali lewat medium film dokumenter guna menjadi satu pemahaman tentang kisah hidup, cara berpikir, dan berkarya. Metode penciptaan film dokumenter menggunakan tahapan pra produksi, produksi, dan pasca produksi. Sedangkan hasil dari penciptaan film dokumenter akan dipublikasikan menggunakan media sosial sebagai medium promosi sekaligus edukasi dikarenakan kecenderungan akses masyarakat hari ini lebih dominan pada platform tersebut.Documentary Film “Mereka”: Episode of Risman Marah’s Personal Expression In Creating” Biography Genre As An Educational Medium. The documentary "Mereka" is a long-term project that tells the life stories of individuals who are diligent and dedicated in their respective fields. The choice of biography as a storytelling genre makes it easier for the audience to follow the series of events experienced by these individuals, leading to the formation of their personal expressions in each of their works. Biographical documentaries are often used as a means to inspire and provide a deeper understanding of the film's subjects. In this episode, we will delve into the personal expression of Risman Marah, a master photographer. Risman Marah is not an unfamiliar name in the world of Indonesian photography. His work, expertise, and dedication need no further confirmation. However, what was Risman Marah's life like in the past? How did the natural environment and conditions of that time influence his journey in the world of photography? It is believed that the stories beyond the photography process also play a significant role in his contributions to the world of photography, both as an educator and practitioner. These questions will be addressed by exploring visual archives of the subject and retelling them through the medium of a documentary film to provide a comprehensive understanding of Risman Marah's life, thoughts, and works. The documentary filmmaking process involves pre-production, production, and post-production stages.     ABSTRAKWisata kuliner di Yogyakarta menjadi daya tarik tersendiri. Namun karena pandemi, kondisinya tidak seramai sebelumnya. Salah satu strategi yang dilakukan adalah melakukan promosi secara masif dan menarik dalam bentuk video promosi dan disebarkan melalui media daring seperti Instagram, Facebook, dan Youtube. Permasalahan yang timbul adalah biaya produksi pembuatan video promosi yang dianggap masih berbiaya tinggi dan membebani para penyedia wisata kuliner. Oleh karena itu, tercetuslah gagasan untuk membuat video promosi wisata kuliner di Yogyakarta menggunakan microdrone yang dapat menekan biaya produksi. Microdrone adalah drone berukuran kecil, ringan, dan murah. Microdrone pada dasarnya adalah drone mainan atau hobi yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai alat pengambilan gambar yang berkualitas dengan menyematkan kamera high definition (HD) atau 4K.  Penggunaan microdrone seiring pemikiran tentang peran drone saat ini yang mendukung pencapaian pendidikan sehingga sangat perlu untuk selalu dikembangkan pemanfaatannya. Metode produksi video menggunakan kamera bergerak (terbang) dan statis (diam) menggunakan microdrone. Pengambilan gambar aerial hingga gambar informasi yang detail dilakukan sepenuhnya dengan menggunakan microdrone yang dioperasikan oleh pilot microdrone. Tahapan menggunakan standar tahapan produksi, yaitu praproduksi, produksi, dan pascaproduksi. Tujuan dari penelitian terapan ini adalah menyebarkan informasi wisata di Yogyakarta melalui video promosi yang menarik, efektif, dan efisien biaya namun tetap berkualitas. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan microdrone ini menghasilkan sebuah informasi yang disajikan dalam framing dan komposisi gambar untuk menggambarkan objek area yang luas dan detail dari objeknya secara menarik, dengan efesiensi biaya.Culinary tourism in Yogyakarta is an attraction in itself, but because of the pandemic the conditions are not as busy as usual. One of the strategies is to carry out massive and attractive promotions in the form of promotional videos, and disseminate them through online media such as Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. The problem that arises is the production cost of making promotional videos which are still considered high cost and burdensome for culinary tourism providers. Therefore, there is an idea to make a promotional video for culinary tourism in Yogyakarta using a microdrone which greatly reduces production costs. Microdrone is a drone that is small, light and inexpensive. Microdrone is basically a toy or hobby drone that can be used as a quality image capture tool by embedding an HD (high definition) or 4K camera. The use of microdrones is in line with thinking about the current role of drones in supporting educational achievement, so it is very necessary to always develop their use. The video production method uses a moving (flying) or static (still) camera using a microdrone. Aerial image capture to detailed information images is carried out in full using a microdrone operated by a microdrone pilot. While the stages use standard production stages, namely pre-production, production and post-production. The purpose of this applied research is to disseminate tourism information in Yogyakarta through promotional videos that are attractive, effective, and cost efficient but still of high quality.Keywords: promotional videos, Culinary tourism, microdron

    Analisis Wacana Kekerasan Seksual Terhadap Perempuan dalam Film "Demi Nama Baik Kampus" dan Film "Please Be Quiet"

    This study discusses the discourse of sexual violence in the short film Demi Nama Baik Kampus and the short film Please Be Queit to find out the representation of women as victims of sexual violence in the film. This study uses qualitative methods and Sara Mills' critical discourse. Based on its form, critical discourse analysis is divided into 3, namely the position of the subject-object and the position of the reader by selecting scenes that are considered representative. The findings of the analysis show that the position of the subject is carried out by a female character named Sinta who is a victim of sexual violence by her supervisor in the campus environment in the short film For the Good Name of the Campus. Whereas in the short film Please Be Queit played by Sarah who is considered a victim of sexual violence in the work environment. The position of the object is described as an actor that supports the subject's motion. Meanwhile, the writer positions Sarah and Sinta as parties who confirm the incident, so that the text is from the point of view that Sinta and Sarah experienced. The reader's position cannot change the discourse written by the author, because the reader cannot provide arguments to the writer, if there is no discrepancy in the content of the film's discussion

    Produktivitas Kreatif Tim Penata Kostum dalam Tekanan Waktu pada Program Variety Show Televisi

    Time pressure is unavoidable. This is also experienced by designers who work in the television industry who work with a faster pace. The costume stylist team as the designers whose fulfill the costume needs must also adjust to the conditions they have. The purpose of this research is to identify the factors that influence the costume stylist team in the costume arrangement process and the process they do in developing their ideas in the midst of their limitations. The data collection process in this study was carried out by concurrent experimentation with the protocol by recording and observing directly the creative process of costume styling on two teams of costume stylists, the recorded data was described and given a code classification based on the F-B-S onthology and processing through linkography. Through linkography obtained output data in the form of graphs of entropy, data distribution, and also the distribution process so that it can identify the influencing factors and the design process that is carried out. In this study it was found that (1) the expectations of the costume stylist team for what they wanted to serve and the available commodities were the most influential factors in developing ideas under time pressure during the costume arrangement process. (2) The costume arrangement process is carried out to deal with the time pressure they are doing, by adjusting the ideas developed, reprocessing the available costumes into new costumes, and reviewing ideas with similar experiences.

    Production Management of the “Asu (Prokontra)” Short Documentary Film

    This research focuses on the management of “ASU (Prokontra)” documentary film production, which includes three stages: planning, production, and post-production. This documentary raises the issue of dog slaughtering in Yogyakarta. This research utilized a descriptive qualitative method. The data were gathered through in depth-interview with the director and cameraman of the film. Moreover, secondary data on this research were obtained from the animal community website and social media (Instagram) of Jogja’s Animal Friend and news from local and national mass media. The results revealed three findings: (i)  the director of the “ASU (Prokontra)” documentary film researched to obtain information on dog slaughtering in Yogyakarta; (ii) the director of the film employed an observative approach to record events spontaneously and naturally. The flow of the “ASU (Prokontra)” film production emphasizes the informal shooting process without excessive technical tools and does not require prior design; (iii) the director approached the community as the subject well.
