    WALES-WALES DALAM TRADISI KEMATIAN DUSUN MELOAN DESA SIDOREJO KABUPATEN MALANG

    This study aims to discuss the Wales-wales system in the Javanese tradition of death, especially in East Java. In the community structure of Dusun Melon, Desa Sidorejo, Malang Regency, the Wales-wales tradition (returning the favor) is known as an activity to help residents who are experiencing death. This tradition has been carried out for generations and is thought to be able to become the social glue of the lives of the residents of Dusun Meloan, Desa Sidorejo. In the activities of Wales-wales there is a reciprocal relationship that is mutualism between one individual and another, thus fostering social cohesion that persists to this day. This study uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation and intermittent interviews with informants. Through Talcott Parson's AGIL concept, this study seeks to answer problems related to (1) how the Welsh-Wales tradition has survived to this day and (2) the extent to which the local community has adapted to the Welsh-Wales tradition in their social life. Based on the results of field data analysis, at least this research yields several points, namely (1) the Wales-wales tradition is a form of social communication in rural communities, especially Sidorejo Village, Malang Regency; (2) the Welsh-Wales tradition became the glue for the social relations of the Sidorejo Village community when the Covid-19 pandemic hit; and (3) the Wales-wales tradition is a local value that is agreed to be a principle of life and must be preserved as part of efforts to strengthen social relations in rural communities

    Marriage according to Banjarese custom in Martapura, Banjar Regency is the business of all parties, both the bride and groom, but is the obligation of both parents, tengganai, formal leaders, and traditional leaders. In Banjar traditional marriage procedures, there is a bridal shower ritual ceremony. The purpose of this study is to describe the implementation of the bridal shower ritual and the meaning contained in the ritual in the Banjar traditional wedding ceremony. The research method used in this study is a qualitative approach. The results of the study found that the bridal shower ceremony aims to purify physically and spiritually because on the next day the bride and groom will carry out one of the sacred tasks in life in the world, namely undergoing marriage mahligai. The bridal shower only purifies the body, but the implied meaning is that the bride and groom are ready to purify themselves physically and mentally. As well as to fortify the bride and groom from various unwanted disturbances. The meaning contained in the bridal shower ritual is that a blessed life has the hope that in carrying out a relationship in the household, happiness is always given. Behaving well in pisit is symbolized by nyiur (coconut). Nyiur has the meaning of the tree of life which is very useful for others. The meaning of living together is symbolized by baras lakatan (glutinous rice) which means a form of hope for the safety of the bride and groom. Habang sugar has a sweet meaning and is red in color, the hope is that everything that is done always bears sweet fruit or has a meaning that the sugar can symbolize a beautiful life that is lived with his life partner. hintalu (egg) has the meaning of a symbol of life as a generational strength which is expected to have a strong future generation and always be useful for others

    Changes in the teaching and learning process from online to offline have an effect on students' learning motivation. So this also has an impact on the lack of students' understanding of the learning material. In this case, of course, the teacher's role is needed in increasing student learning motivation, so that students can understand the learning material provided. The purpose of this study was to describe the role of sociology teachers in increasing students' learning motivation after online learning. The theory used in this study is the Behavioristic theory proposed by B.F Skinner. The research was conducted at SMAN 1 X Koto Nagari Aie Angek, X Koto District, Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra. This study uses qualitative research methods with descriptive research type. The withdrawal of informants was carried out by purposive sampling technique. The data collection method in this study began with observation, in-depth interviews, and document studies. Data analysis was carried out in several stages, namely, data collection, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results showed that in increasing students' learning motivation the teacher acted as a motivator, where the things the teacher did were to be open, arouse students' interest, give gifts, give reprimands or punishments, and give assessments to students

    The background in this study discusses student interest in learning geography during the covid-19 pandemic. This study aims to determine how happy feelings, student interest, student attention, and student involvement in learning geography online. The research method used is qualitative research. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 2 Sungai Raya by interviewing seven students in class XI Social Sciences based on the recommendations given by the teacher and geography teacher for class XI Social Sciences at SMA Negeri 2 Sungai Raya. The study results indicate that students are diligent in attending and have feelings of pleasure in participating in online geography learning activities. Students are less interested in studying geography outside class hours because they only learn when there are assignments or tests. Students sometimes have problems understanding the material given by the teacher, but students want to try to understand the material provided by the teacher. The involvement of students in learning, including less due to the absence of discussion between teachers and students. This study concludes that students still are interested in learning geography online, but the overall indicators are not good. Because there is a lack of student involvement in online geography learning, most students feel obstacles in understanding the material given by the teacher

    This study aims to determine the form of implementation of the scientific approach to developing 21st-century competence of elementary school students. The technique used in this research is qualitative with the literature study method. The data obtained are sourced from scientific books, research reports, scientific essays, theses and dissertations, regulations, and written sources, both printed and electronic, that are relevant to the research objectives. The results showed that the scientific approach developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills, creativity and innovation, communication, and collaboration in elementary school students. The development of essential thinking competence is applied in argument analysis and evaluation activities. The result of creative thinking competence tends to be encouraged by the school environment, for example, through work independence, stimulation, and utilization of surrounding objects. Communication competence can be developed through role-playing activities and productive language activities. Then, the development of collaboration competencies can be carried out by working on group project activities. Thus, the scientific approach is considered ideal to be applied in learning activities to develop 21st-century skills of elementary school students

    The coffee shop is a second home for modern citizens amid the rise of coffee culture in male society. One way to attract customers with the existence by using women as waiters and even accompanying customers as in a small coffee shop. This study aims to find out: (1) how is the relationship between female waiters and customers in coffee shops, (2) the reasons why women are willing to work as waiters in cetol coffee shops, and (3) the views of the surrounding community on the existence of cetol coffee shops. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The results obtained from this study indicate that the interaction pattern between the waiter and the cetol coffee shop customer uses symbols in providing services to customers, such as wearing tight clothes, sounding spoiled, and others. They work as servants because of economic factors, lack of job opportunities, and also want to fulfill their own needs independently, so these female servants do not care about the negative public response to their work

    The purpose of this article is to analyze the phenomenon of Covid-19 vaccine rejection among Indonesia society which occurred in the midst of Covid-19 pandemic. This research uses qualitative approach by employing secondary data related to the phenomenon of Covid-19 vaccine rejection. This article itself brings the concept of social action offered by Max Weber as a conceptual framework. The main finding of this research is that there are various reasons behind the phenomenon of Covid-19 vaccine rejection. Those reasons portray the rich variety of meanings which also mean that there are many socio-cultural contexts behind it. Therefore, we need the appropriate strategy to face such phenomenon. Thus, the goals of Covid-19 vaccine promotion could be reached well

    This pandemic period provides a new perspective on bureaucratic management. Bureaucracy in any situation must continue to meet the needs of customers (society) because it is related to public services. So even though there is limited space for movement due to following health protocols during the current pandemic, people are still given their rights as citizens to be served by adjusting the situation, one of which is through electronic services. The Covid-19 pandemic is a condition that makes the bureaucracy adapt to changes in service models from habits in serving the community with normal conditions to the new normal. In this study, the author uses a qualitative descriptive method, with the type of library research (library research). The results of the survey indicate that bureaucratic changes occur in the dimensions of the organization and the measurements of the new work system. In the organizational size, there has been a change in the bureaucratic model which was initially run usually, then a disturbance; in this case, Covid-19 requires the organization to make changes to the continuing to new normal, while in the work system dimension, there are two choices, namely working at home and work at home. Office but still comply with health protocols

    This research was conducted in Kayu Raja Village, Keritang District, Indragiri Hilir Regency, to know the activities of women workers in the copra processing business and describe the social interactions of women workers in the copra processing business. To obtain accurate data using descriptive qualitative research methods with data collection using in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation. The results of the analysis show that there are various kinds of work activities carried out in the copra processing business, starting from the process of opening the chest, cleavage, transportation, drying, collecting coconuts, gouging, the process of dividing the shell and the process of burning the surface which will become charcoal. Copra processing workers come from the Bugis tribe, so in interacting, they use symbols, namely the Bugis language. The analysis of research observations showed an excellent interaction between female workers in the copra processing business. Female workers are housewives who also have a role in the domestic sector, like housewives in general

    PENGARUH PENGGUNAAN SMARTPHONE SEBAGAI PENUNJANG PEMBELAJARAN IPS DI MASA PANDEMI COVID-19 TERHADAP HASIL BELAJAR

    This study examines the effect of smartphones as learning support during the COVID-19 pandemic on junior high school students learning outcomes in social science subjects. The research method used is a quantitative approach in an ex-post facto form. The data collection techniques used were an indirect form of communication using a closed-ended questionnaire, and a documentary study using the final even semester assessment of social science subjects for class VII and class VIII. Based on the data analysis, (1) the use of smartphones to support the learning process during the COVID-19 pandemic has a 58.9% ratio and is categorized as adequate. (2) A total of 56.3% of students have social studies learning outcomes with a predicate of C (adequate). (3) Based on a simple linear regression test, obtained a significance value of 0.919 > 0.05, showing that Ha is rejected, while H0 is accepted. In conclusion, the use of smartphones as a support for the learning process during the COVID-19 pandemic does not affect the learning outcomes of junior high school students in social science subjects
