PERANAN PENYULUH TERHADAP PENGAMBILAN KEPUTUSAN PETERNAK DALAM ADOPSI INOVASI TEKNOLOGI PETERNAKAN DI KECAMATAN SANGKUB KABUPATEN BOLAANG MONGONDOW UTARA
THE ROLE OF EXTENSIONISTS TO THE DECISION OF FARMERS IN THE ADOPTION OF TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION FARMS IN SANGKUB SUB-DISTRICT, NORTH BOLAANG MONGONDOW DISTRICT.Extension activities is one of the goverment’s efforts that have an important role in improving knowledge, skills and attitude to livestock. Extension workers have an important role in the development of livestock breeding and improvement of livestock technology adoption process to farmers. The purpose of this study was to examine the role of extension workers in decision making farmers in the adoption of technological innovation farms in District of Sangkub North of Bolaang Mongondow regency. This research was done by survey method. Three  villages was selected using purposive method. Thirty respondents then selected from breeder groups, which is done randomly. Data collection was done by interview, observation and documentation. The sources of data taken include primary data in the form of respondent identity, the number of livestock kept, the technology applied and the role of extension workers. Secondary data obtained from agriculture office of north Bolaang Mongondow regency, agricultural and forestry extension agency (BP3K) of Sangkub sub-district and central bureau of statistics Bolaang Mongondow. Data were analyzed by using scoring method and descriptive analysis. Result of the research indicate that the tendency of farmer appraisal to agriculture extension role as motivator, dynamic and facilitator in district of Sangkub Regency of North Bolaang Mongondow was optimal The results showed that the process of adoption of cattle ranchers in Sangkub sub-district North of Bolaang Mongondow  regency is varied from respondents who do not know about farming technology, have tried and already apply. And the role of extensionists have and influence on the dicision of farmers in the adoption of farm technology innovation in Sangkub sub-district.Keywords : The role of extensionists, Adoption process, Decision – makin
SIFAT ORGANOLEPTIK NAGET AYAM YANG MENGGUNAKAN TEPUNG KEDELAI SEBAGAI PENGGANTIAN SEBAGIAN DAGING
ORGANOLEPTIC CHARACTERISTICS OF CHICKEN NAGET ENRICHED WITH SOYBEAN MEAL AS A PART OF MEAT REPLACER. The present study was designed to determine the utilization of soybean meal as a part of meat replacer on chicken naget characteristics. Materials used in the study were: breast part chicken meat, soybean meal, tapioca meal, milk, as well as spices. A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 35 replications was used in the present study. Variables measured were: organoleptic characteristics colors, textures, aroma, taste. Tukey test was further employed to analyze treatment differences. Different between treatment(s) was declared at P < 0.05. Research results showed that soybean meal as a part of meat replacer on chicken naget gave a significant effect (P < 0.01) on colors, textures, aroma, and taste. It can be concluded that the utilization of soybean meal as a part of meat replacer on chicken naget can be used up to 20 g and it is organoleptically accepted.Key Words: Chicken meat, Chicken naget, Soybean meal, Organoleptic characteristic
KUALITAS CHICKEN NUGGET YANG DIFORTIFIKASI DENGAN TEPUNG KACANG KEDELAI UNTUK PENINGKATAN SERAT PANGAN (DIETARY FIBER)
THE QUALITY OF CHICKEN NUGGET FORTIFICATED BY SOYBEAN FLOUR ON INCREASING DIETARY FIBER. This research aimed to determine the effect of soy bean flour as fortification ingredient to increase dietary fiber products to chicken nuggets. The meat used for nuggets chicken was taken chest. Soybeans are used as a fortification ingredient for the product of chicken nuggets. This experiment using a completely randomized design with five treatments consisting of a treatment R0 level 0% of soybean of the meat composition of 400 g (0 g of soybean and 400 g of meat), R1 level of 5% of soybean of the meat composition (20 g soybean and 380 g of meat) R2 level of 10% of soy bean of the meat composition (40 g of soybean and 360 g of meat), R3 15% of soy bean of the meat composition (60 g of soybean and 340 g of meat), R4 level 20% soybean of the meat composition (80 g of soybean and 320 g of meat). Each treatment was conducted three replications. If there was a difference of average in the analysis of variance then to DMRT test. The results showed that fortification with soy beans in chicken meat had a significant on the water holding capacity and fiber dietary, while the pH of the meat is not significant. The conclusion of this study that 80 grams of soy bean flour fortified in 320 grams meat can be used for the product chicken nuggets because it can increase the content of dietary fiber.Keywords: chicken nugget, soybean flour, dietary fibe
KARAKTERISTIK SEMEN SEGAR SAPI BANGSA LIMOUSIN DAN SIMMENTAL DI BALAI INSEMINASI BUATAN LEMBANG
FRESH SEMEN CHARACTERISTICS OF LIMOUSIN AND SIMMENTAL BULLS AT THE ARTIFISIAL INSEMINATION CENTER, LEMBANG. This study was conducted to evaluate the characteristics of fresh semen in Limousin and Simmental bulls at the artificial insemination center in Lembang. Results of this study showed that ejaculation frequency of Simmental bull was significantly higher than that of Limousin with the average of 5.37 and 4.60, respectively. Variables of volume, pH and motility were not significantly different between both bulls with volume ranging of 7.17 – 7.20 ml, pH ranging of 6.65 – 6.66 and motility ranging of 58.08 – 59.29%, respectively. The fresh semen colour of Limousin and Simmental bulls were indicated by dominant color of milk white color. Semen consistency of fresh semen from both bulls was moderate. The ejaculation frequency and pH variables indicated the correlation of -0.32 in Limousine bulls, meaning that the higher the ejaculation frequency, the lower the pH  (acid), but the ejaculation frequency and motility of semen had the correlation of 0,34, indicating the more the semen ejaculation frequency, the higher the motility of spermatozoa. The motility of semen had the negative correlation with pH (-0.49). The higher the pH (base), the motility of spermatozoa tended to decline. Simmental bull showed also that semen ejaculation frequency with volume had correlation of -0.40, indicating that the higher the semen ejaculation frequency yakni, the lower the semen volume. Semen ejaculation frequency had correlation of 0.5 with mortality, indicating that the higher the semen ejaculation frequency, the higher the motility of spermatozoa.Keywords: Semen, ejaculation, volume, color, consistency, pH, motilit
PENGARUH PEMBERIAN TEPUNG KEONG SAWAH (Pila ampulacea) SEBAGAI PENGANTI TEPUNG IKAN DALAM PAKAN TERHADAP KUALITAS TELUR BURUNG PUYUH (Coturnix coturnix Japonica)
SUBSTITUTION EFFECT OF FISH MEAL WITH SNAIL MEAL (Pila ampulacea) IN RATION Â ON QUILL EGG QUALITY (Coturnix coturnix Japonica). The objective of this study was to evaluate the substitution effect of fish meal with snail meal in ration on quill egg quality. Total of 60 quills at age of 5 weeks old were used on the period study of 8 weeks. The completely randomized design was applied in this study consisted of 4 treatments with 5 replications at each treatment. The treatments were levels of snail meal substituting fish meal in ration as follows: R0 = 0% snail meal + 15 % fish meal, R1 = 5% snail meal + 10% fish meal, R2 = 10% snail meal + 5% fish meal, R3 = 15% snail meal + 0% fish meal. Variables measured in this study were including egg weight, yolk index, albumin index, yolk color and shell thickness. Results showed that snail meal affected significantly (P<0.05) the egg weight and albumin index, did not affect yolk index, yolk color and shell thickness. Therefore, it can be concluded that substitution of fish meal with snail meal up to 15% in ration of quill produced good products of egg weight, yolk index, albumin index, yolk color and shell thickness.Key words: Snail meal, fish meal, quill egg quality
PENGARUH LEVEL BOKASHI KOTORAN AYAM DAN TINGKAT KEPADATAN POPULASI TANAMAN TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN VEGETATIF SORGUM BROWN MIDRIB (BMR)
EFFECT OF LEVEL BOKASHI CHICKEN MANURE AND PLANT POPÂULATION DENSITY ON VEGETATIVE GROWTH OF BROWN MIDRIB (BMR) SORGUM. The aims of this experiment was to study the interaction of bokashi chicken manure and plant population density on vegetative growth of sorghum Brown Midrib (BMR). Level bokashi were A1 = 0 G; A2 = 200 G; A3 = 400 G and A4 = 800 G/polybag interact with plant population density B1 = 2 plants; B2 = 4 plants and B3 = 6 plants/polybag. Treatments were arranged in a 4 x 3 factorial with 3 replications based on a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). Variable measured were leaf length of leaf, number of leafes and plant height. The results showed that the interaction of treatment had significant effect on leaf length (P<0.05), but did not have significant effect (P>0,05) on number of leafs and plant height. Each treatment gave significant different effect on these both variable (P<0.05). Based on this results can be concluded that to get optimal vegetative growth of sorghum BMR needs bokashi fertilizer by 400 G/polybag at density of 2 plants/polybag. Keywords: Bokashi level of chicken manure, plant population density level, growth sorghum, growt
PENAMPILAN TINGKAH LAKU SEKSUAL SAPI PEJANTAN LIMOUSIN DAN SIMMENTAL DI BALAI INSEMINASI BUATAN LEMBANG
ABSTRACT SEXUAL BEHAVIOR OF LIMOUSIN AND SIMMENTAL BULL BREEDSAT THE LEMBANG ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION CENTER. In order to provide the prominent bulls, the management process of animal selection was required for animal replacement stock. Animal selection was including the inspection of animal physical and sexual behavior. Based on this criterion, study was conducted to observe the sexual behavior of Limousin and Simmental breed bulls at the artificial insemination center in Lembang, Bandung. The objective of this study was to evaluate the characteristic of sexual behavior of the Limousin and Simmental breed bulls. The amount of 80 bulls consisted of 40 Limousin and 40 Simmental bulls at the age of 6 to 9 years old were used in this study. Data collections were conducted by focal animal sampling. Sexual behavior was observed during ten days at the time from 07.00 to 11.00 West Indonesian Time. Data collection were started at the period of bull was introduced into teaser.Based on t-test on sexual behavior of Limousin and Simmental bulls, the results showed that (1) The time need for courtship with teaser of Limousin bull was significantly shorter (P<0,01) compared with Simmental bull; (2) Time period use for the first time to start flehmen of Limousin bull was shorter significantly (P<0,01) compared with Simmental bull; (3) Flehmen frequency of Limousin and Simmental was non significantly.Based on the observation of sexual behavior, the Limousin bull need time of the 2,22 seconds to start courthip with teaser, while Simmental bull need time of 2,77 seconds to start courtship with teaser. The Limousin bull need time of 222 seconds to start flehmen, while Simmental bull need time of 239 seconds to start flehmen. The time periods used for the first time to mount teaser by Limousin bull were 214,87 seconds, while those by Simmental bull were 302,02 seconds. The flehmen frequency of Limousin dan Simmental bulls was similar of only one time during sexual behavior.Key Words :Limousin, Simmental, Sexual behavior, Lembang Artificial Insemination Cente
KARAKTERISTIK SARANG TARSIUS (Tarsius spectrum) DI CAGAR ALAM TANGKOKO BITUNG SULAWESI UTARA
Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan mengenai karakteristik sarang Tarsius. Diharapkan dengan deskripsi ini dapat dibuat suatu modifikasi sarang Tarsius. Manfaat yang diharapkan adalah memberikan informasi mengenai karakteristik sarang Tarsius di Cagar Alam Tangkoko dan sebagai referensi pengetahuan dalam bidang konservasi satwa langkah dan endemik. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Cagar Alam Tangkoko Batuputih Bitung Sulawesi Utara selama 61 hari dengan menggunakan 10 sampel sarang Tarsius. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode observasi. Variabel penelitian ini adalah Jenis vegetasi, bentuk sarang, lingkaran pohon dan ketinggian sarang dari permukaan tanah, suhu dan kelembaban sarang dan variabel penunjang antara lain adalah ketinggian sarang dari permukaan laut (mdpl) dan vegetasi sekitar sarang. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian jenis vegetasi, ditemukan bahwa semuanya adalah pohon jenis Ficus sp dengan rataan lingkaran pohon adalah 8,169 m. Bentuk sarang Tarsius tidak beraturan dan lubang sarang umumnya berbentuk bulat lonjong dan berbentuk persegi dengan ketinggian sarang antara 1,5 m sampai 13 m. Suhu dalam sarang Tarsius antara 20,97°C sampai 23,92°C dan kelembaban sarang Tarsius antara 77,3% sampai 81,4%. Rataan ketinggian sarang dari permukaan laut adalah 53 mdpl. Vegetasi di sekitar sarang Tarsius ditemukan 24 jenis vegetasi yang di dominasi oleh vegetasi jenis Leea indica dari famili Leeaceae
PENGARUH UMUR PEMOTONGAN DAN LEVEL PUPUK ORGANIK TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN VEGETATIF RUMPUT BRACHIARIA HUMIDICOLA (Studi Kasus Di Laboratorium Agrostologi Fakultas Peternakan Universitas Sam Ratulangi Manado)
THE EFFECT OF CUTTING AGES AND LEVEL OF ORGANIC FERTILIZER ON VEGETATIVE GROWTH OF BRACHIARIA HUMIDICOLA (Case Study At Agrostology Laboratory Faculty Of Animal ScienceSam Ratulangi UniversityManado)Brachiaria humidicola is a forages as animal feed. Defolation is a proces which is apart of vegetative removed by human or by grazing animals. Brahum is one of perenial species has stolon and has a good ground cover. From agrostology point of view Brahum needs a good agronomic management and it is not as weeds species.    The aim of this experiment to asses the effect of defolition and level of organic fertilizer on vegetative growth of Brahum Treatments consist of ages of cutting of 30 day and 40 day after triming, and level of organic fertilizer of P1=0 gr; P2=400 gr; P3=800 gr; P4=1200 gr/polybag. Variable measured was the number of stolon, long of stolon and number of tiller. Treatment was arranged factorial 2x4 based on completly randomized design (RAL) with 4 replication.    The results of this research show that the interaction of treatments significandtly effected on all variabel measured, and the best result found at interaction between cutting ages 40 day and level of organic fertilizer 400 gr/polybag. Based on this result it could be concluded that do get the best performance of Brahum need to cut at 40 days regrowth and dosis of organic fertilizer by 400 gr/polybag. Keywords : Age of cutting, organic fertilizer, Vegetative growth, Brahu
