PENGARUH NAUNGAN DAN PEMUPUKAN NITROGEN TERHADAP KARAKTERISTIK MORFOLOGIS RUMPUT GAJAH DWARF (Pennisetum purpureum cv Mott)
THE EFFECT OF SHADING AND NITROGEN FERTILIZATION ON MORPHOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF DWARF ELEPHANT GRASS (Pennisetum purpureum cv. mott). This study was conducted to determine the responses of Dwarf Elephant grass (P. purpureum cv. Mott.) fertilized with different nitrogen levels and at different shading areas. A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) in a Factorial arrangement with 2 factors of nitrogen levels and shading areas arranged as follows: factor A = fertilization levels of P1 = without fertilization (0%); P2 = 200 kg urea/ha; P3 = 400 kg urea/ha; and P4 = 800 kg urea/ha; whereas factor B = shasing areas of N1 = no shading area (0%), and N2 = 70% shading area. Variables measured were including leaf length, number of mature leaves, and plant height. Research results showed that plants needed about 200 kg urea/ha in order to achieve maximum leaf length in shaded area;  whereas  plants  within  no  shading area needed about 800 kg urea/ha to achieve maximum leaf length. To achieve maximum number of mature leaves in open area without shading plants needed about 800 kg urea/ha, and no need for nitrogen fertilization in shading area for plants to achieve such a maximum number of mature leaves. The highest plant height was achieved at the level of 400 kg urea/ha fertilization at open area (no shading), and there was no need of nitrogen fertilization for plants in shaded area in order to achieve their maximum height. It can be concluded that shading positively contributed to the availability of nitrogen to be used by Dwarf Elephant grass (P. purpureum cv. Mott.). In open area without shading, plants need more nitrogen in the form of urea to produce leaf length, number of mature leaves, and plant height compared to shaded area.Keywords: Fertilization, Shading, Elephant Grass, Plant morphology
PENAMPILAN TERNAK KUDA BENDI DI KECAMATAN TOMPASO KABUPATEN MINAHASA
PERFORMANCE OF HORSE DRAWING CARRIAGE AT TOMPASO DISTRICT, MINAHASA REGENCY. This research was conducted to evaluate the performance of horse drawing carriage at Tompaso district was taken to be observed for the variables including chest circumference, body length, body heigth, and raising management, time duration of using horse power, horse feeding, feces observation, farmer environmental condition and general profile of Tompaso district. Result of this research showed that local horse at Tompaso was originally introduced from Makasar and Gorontalo, and body condition of this horse drawing carriage was this following standard performance, such as chest circumference of 131.5 cm, body length of 142.3 cm, body height of 131.38 cm, the average time duration of using horse power of 6.3 hours/day, worm eggs invested in horse faces of 237.5 eggs, and feed average consumption for animal of 25.12 kg/day with energy content in ration of 2.35 Mcal. Therefore, it can be concluded that performance of horse drawing carriage at Tompaso district, Minahasa regency was ideally good. Keywords: Horse drawing carriage, Tompaso District, Minahasa Regency
PEMANFAATAN ENZIM RENNET dan Lactobacillus plantarum YN 1.3 TERHADAP pH, CURD dan TOTAL PADATAN KEJU
UTILIZATION of RENNET ENZYME and Lactobacillus plantarum YN 1.3 ON pH, CHEESE SOLIDS TOTAL and CURD. The aims of thisresearch was to know the rennet enzyme levels and utilization of  Lactobacillus plantarum YN 1.3 on Cheese pH, solids total and curd. This research designed by a Completely Randomized Design, the treatments were the rennet enzyme levels and Lactobacillus plantarum YN 1.3. Each treatments has four times replications. The data obtained were analyzed using SPSS ver 20 tools and significant effects was test by Tukey HSD. The results of this research showed no significant difference (p > 0.05) on cheese pH. Cheese solids total and curd has highly significant difference effects (p < 0,01). Based on the discussion and data analysis, can be concluded that the utilization of the rennet enzyme level 2% and Lactobacillus plantarum YN 1.3 8% produced good performs of pH, total cheese solids and curd.Key words: cheese, rennet enzyme and Lactobacillus plantarum YN 1.
PENAMPILAN REPRODUKSI TERNAK SAPI POTONG DI KECAMATAN BINTAUNA KABUPATEN BOLAANG MONGONDOW UTARA
REPRODUCTIVE PERFORMANCE OF BEEF CATTLE IN BINTAUNA DISTRICT OF NORTH BOLAANG MONGONDOW REGENCY. This study was conducted to evaluate the reproduction performance of beef cattle in Bintauna district of North Bolaang Mongondow regency. Reproductive performance was studied to determine the productivity of livestock especially in population increase and availability of meat. This research used samples of farmer as breeder of beef cattle. The selections of village samples were determined purposively by consideration of the villages with the largest population of livestock including the villages of Pimpi, Kopi, and Bintauna. Selection of respondents using random sampling method involved 10 farmers for each selected village, with the total of 30 farmers as respondents. Data of the variables were analyzed using descriptive analysis model. The results showed that the age of puberty animal was 12.03 ± 4.81 months, service per conception was 1.19, conception rate was 73%, pregnancy period was 276 ± 2.53 days, and calving interval was 366 ± 3.21 days. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the reproduction of beef cattle in Bintauna district of North Bolaang Mongondow regency was categorized into good performance. Keyword: Reproduction performance, beef cattle, Bintauna distric
PENGARUH PENGGUNAAN TAHU SEBAGAI EXTENDER TERHADAP SIFAT ORGANOLEPTIK SOSIS AYAM
THE USE OF TOFU AS EXTENDER ON ORGANOLEPTIC CHARACTERISTIC OF CHICKEN SAUSAGE. This study was conducted to know about the use of tofu as an extender to sausage product of broiler on the organoleptic characteristics. The material used in this study were broiler meat (breast chicken), tofu and the ingredients for sausage making. Five treatments tested in this research consisted of T0 500 g of meat without tofu, T1 475 g of meat and tofu 25 g, T2 450 g of meat and tofu 50 g, T3 425 g of meat and tofu 75 g, T4 100 g of meat and tofu 100 g. This research used complete randomized design and was tested by 35 of panelist to determine organoleptic data of sausage product. The data measured in this research used hedonic scale. The variable measured consisted of color, flavor, texture, taste of sausages. Determination of the difference of average was done by BNJ test. The result showed that the treatment was significant effect on color, flavor, texture, taste of sausage. The conclusion of this study based on organoleptic characteristics, The use of 25 g tofu as extender ingredient to 475 g of meat can be used on making chicken sausage.Keywords: Sausages, Chicken, Tofu, Organoleti
HUBUNGAN KINERJA PENYULUH PERTANIAN LAPANGAN DENGAN KEBERHASILAN PETERNAK SAPI POTONG DI KECAMATAN KWANDANG KABUPATEN GORONTALO UTARA
ABSTRACTRELATIONSHIP BETWEEN AGRICULTURAL EXTENTION TASK EFFORTS AND BEEF CATTLE HOUSEHOLD FARMER SUCCCESS AT KWANDANG DISTRICT OF NORTH GORONTALO REGENCY. On basis of the ratio between total of villages and total of agricultural extension officers (AEO), meaning each AEO worked one village, the system of the AEO should run smoothly. Based on the initial survey, it showed that task effort of the AEO at several villages of Kwandang district, indicated minimum task effort by the AEO. Low task effort affected productivity success of beef cattle household farmers indicating it should be improved. The objective of this study was to evaluate the task effort of the AEO, the success of beef cattle household farmers, and to analyze the relationship between the AEO and beef cattle household success at Kwandang district of North Gorontalo regency. The purposive sampling method was applied in this study involving four villages of Ombulodata, Alata Karya, and Posso. The household respondents were choosed based on stratified random sampling of the total population of all household farmers at each village using Slovin formula, completed by the AEO working at the sample villages. Variable measurements were applied using Liker scale.The relationship between the AEO and beef cattle household success was tested using Spearman correlation coefficient test. Results showed that task effort of the AEO was included into good category with the percentage of 96.67 percents. The household success was also included into good category with the percentages of 57.58 percents. In addition, there was strong relationship between task effort and beef cattle household success with the correlation value of 0.6942 indicated by z-calculated of 3.9269 > z-table of 1.960. Therefore, it can be concluded that the task effort of the AEO and beef cattle household farmer success were categorized into good condition indicated by strong relationship between those two variables at Kwandang district of North Gorontalo regency.Keywords : AEO Performance, Succes of Beef Cattle Rancher
PENGARUH PENGUNAAN BEBERAPA JENIS FILLER TERHADAP SIFAT KIMIA CHICKEN NUGGET AYAM PETELUR AFKIR
THE INFLUENCE OF THE USE OF VARIOUS FILLERS TOWARDS THE CHEMICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF CHICKEN NUGGET. The objectives in this research is to observe and study the fillers that vary in producing the formulation of chicken nugget which were received by the consumers observed from the physical. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Animal Science Sam Ratulangi University Manado, The Laboratory of Nutrient Faculty of Animal Science Sam Ratulangi University Manado. The material used in this research was meat and fat of non-productive layer (culled) as much as 6400 gram, devided into 16 samples, each sample weighed 100 gram fat and 300 gram meat. The research was carried out through an experient, a completely randomized design with four replications. The fillers used in this treatment were; T1 (Sago), T2 (Tapioka) T3 (Maizena), T4 (Glutten Rice). The Quality of chicken nugget according to the parameter ini this research was as follows; the chemical characteristic (pH, water, ash, fat, protein, and carbohydrate level). From the result of this research it was concluded that the filler which used tapioca (T2) and Sago (T1), had produced chicken nugget which was much better, compared to the use of maizena (T3), glutten rice flour (T4), and generally accepted by the consumers, supported by their characteristics.Keyword: Filler, Chicken Nugget, chemical characteristi
EKSPLORASI FUNGI MIKORIZA ARBUSKULA (FMA) PADA RIZOSFIR HIJAUAN PAKAN
EXPLORATION OF ARBUSCULAR MYCORRHIZAL (AM) FUNGI IN FORAGE RHIZOSPHERES. This study aimed to determine the diversity of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF) in several kinds of hybrid forages Rhizospheres, either in grasses or legumes. Soil samples were taken from three different locations, consisted of: Mapanget (forages type: Leucaena leucocepala, Sorghum varieties numbu, Penicettum purpureum cv. Mott), Tateli (forages type: calothyrsus Calliandra, Gliricidia sepium) and Campus of UNSRAT, Manado (forage type: King grass). The soil samples which taken from forages rhizospheres were sieved using Brundrett method and then centrifuged. Thereafter, isolation and identification of spore were carried out based on spore morphology character, involves: shape, size, color, hyphae attachment, and ornament. Extraction and identification of spores on six types of rhizosphere were found 34 different types of AMF spores in shape and color. In grass, it was found three types of spores, i.e.: Glomus, Acaulospora, and Sclerocystis, meanwhile in leguminous just one type of spore was found, i.e.: Glomus. The difference of rhizosphere in grass and leguminosae resulted in different types of spores, where Sclerocystis and Acaulospora are found in grasses, on the contrary Sclerocystis and Acaulospora are not found in leguminosae. Based on the number of spores of AMF, it seemed that Glomus types found to have the most number, while Sclerocystis and Acaulospora had the lowest number of spores found. PEMANFAATAN TEPUNG MANURE HASIL DEGRADASI LARVA LALAT HITAM (Hermetia illucens L.) TERHADAP BERAT TELUR, BERAT KUNING TELUR DAN MASSA TELUR AYAM KAMPUNG
UTILIZATION OF MANURE DEGRADATED FLOUR BY BLACK FLIES (Hermetia illucens L) ON EGG WEIGHT, EGG YELLOW YOLK AND EGG MASS OF NATIVE CHICKEN. Native Chicken has been maintained by farmers as an effort to utilize the yard, to fulfill the family nutrition and to increase income. One of the functions of laying chicken is as an egg producer. Chicken eggs are often consumed and loved by the people of Indonesia. The quality of chicken eggs needs to be improved by providing balanced feed and nutrition. Manure Flour degradated by larva of H. illucens is one of alternative feed as a source of protein. MHD flour contains 51.15% protein. For this reasons, Because it can meet the needs of poultry. This will have a positive impact if the utilization of manure degradated by black flies larvae can be used as the substitution of some concentrates. Forty native chickens females aged 56 weeks had been used. Baterry system cages of 50x50x75 cm with an eat and drink. A randomized complete design (RAL) with 4 treatment and 5 replications was used as design methods. Treatmens was the following level of manure flour degradated by black flies larvae: R0 = 0% flour MHD: R1 = 5% flour MHD: R2 = 10% flour MHD: R3 = 15% flour MHD. Variables measured were egg weight, egg yolk weight and egg mass. The results showed that the there was no significant difference (P> 0,05) between treatmentsand egg weight, yolk weight and egg mass. Based on the result of data analysis and discussion, it can be concluded that the utilization of manure flour degradated by black flies larvae up to 15% will not give different results in egg weight, egg yolk and egg mass.Keywords: Manure, Larva, Egg
