PERFORMANS COVER CROPS HIJAUAN PAKAN TERHADAP LEVEL PUPUK BOKASHI DAN KEPADATAN POPULASI
RESPONS OF FORAGES COVER CROPS ON LEVEL OF ORGANIC FERTILIZER BOKASHI AND PLANT POPULATION DENSITY. The objectives of this research was to asses the interaction of bokashi levels and plant population density on vegetative growth of sorghum Brown Midrib (BMR) and Leucaena leucocephala legume trees. Level bokashi were LB1 = 0 G; LB2 = 200 G; LB3 = 400 G and LB4 = 800 G pot-1 interact with plant population density of KP1 = 2 plants; KP2 = 4 plants and KPB3 = 6 plants pot-1 of BMR, and for Lamtoro plant density were KP1= 1 plat, KP2= 2 plant, KP3= 3 plant and KP4 = 4 plant pot-1. Treatments were arranged in a 4 x 3 factorial with 3 replications based on a Completely Randomized Design. Variable measured were leaf length of leaf, number of leafes and plant height. The results showed that the interaction of both treatment had significant effect on leaf length (P<0.05), but did not have significant effect (P>0,05) on number of leafs and plant height of BMR. On the otherhand the optimum plant density was 3 plant per pot. Based on this results can be concluded that to get optimal vegetative growth of sorghum BMR needs bokashi fertilizer by 400 G/polybag at density of 2 plants/polybag, but up to 3 plant per pot for lamtoro. Keywords:Bokashi level of chicken manure, plant population density level, growth sorghum, growth
PENGGANTIAN SEBAGIAN JAGUNG DENGAN TEPUNG BATANG PISANG GOROHO ( Musa acuminata, sp) DALAM RANSUM TERHADAP PERFORMANS BROILER
A study was aimed to evaluated the effect of partial replacement of corn with goroho banana stem mealon broiler chicken performans. The study was conducted at Faculity of Animal Science, University of Sam Ratulangi Manado. Using sixty three weeks broiler CP 707. Research used a complete randomized design, consisting of 4 treatmenst and 5 replications, ie Ro : ration without goroho banana stem meal, R1 : 5% corn meal replaced with goroho banana stem meal, R2 : 10% corn meal replaced with goroho banana stem meal , R3 : 15% corn meal replaced with goroho banana stem meal . The variables which measured were : ration consumption, body weigth gain and ration conversion. The data were analyzed using analysis of variance ( Anova), and any significant differences were further test using Tukey test. The treatment was non significantly diference ( P > 0,05) on ration consumption, but significantly difference ( P > 0,05 ) on body weight gain and ration conversion. The results of analysis of variance showed that the was non significantly difference (P>0.05) on ration consumption, while the addition of body weight and ration conversion were significantly difference ( P> 0,05 ). The Tukey test showed that the body weight gain of R0 non significantly diference ( P > 0,05 ) to the treatment of R1 however R0  was significantly diference to R2 and R3, while the treatment of R1 with R2 and R1 with R3 showed significantly difference (P>0.05 )Based on this study, it could be conduded the Goroho banana stem meal (musa acuminata, sp) could substitute a part of corn up to 5% which made a better performance for broiler chicken Keywords : Broiler, Goroho banana steam meal, broiler performan
PERFORMANS PRODUKSI BURUNG PUYUH BETINA (Coturnix coturnix japonica) PADA LAMA PENCAHAYAAN YANG BERBEDA
PRODUCTION PERFORMANCE OF FEMALE QUAILS (Coturnix coturnix japonica) UNDER DIFFERENT LIGTH ILLUMINATIONS. The objective of this study was to evaluate the duration effect of light illuminations on egg production performance of female quails (Coturnix coturnix japonica). Total of 80 female quails at the age of 3 weeks old were used in this study. The total of 4 birds were raised in the cage of 40x30 cm. Birds were randomly put in the cage using completely randomized design for the four treatments consisting of cage without light illumination (R0), cage with light illumination during 4 hours per day (R1), cage with light illumination during 8 hours per day (R2), and cage with light illumination during 12 hours per day (R3). Variables measured were feed consumption, age at first laying egg, egg production and egg weight. Results showed that light illumination did not significantly affect feed consumption, age at first laying egg, egg production and egg weight. Therefore, it can be concluded that production management of female quails (Coturnix coturnix japonica) did not need light illumination during 4, 8 and 12 hours per day. Key words: Female quail, Light illuminations, Production performanc
PENGARUH PENGGUNAAN FILLER YANG BERBEDA TERHADAP NILAI pH, KADAR AIR, CITARASA DAN KEKENYALAN BAKSO DAGING SAPI
THE EFFECT OF DIFFERENT FILLER ON pH, WATER CONTENT, FLAVOR AND ELASTICITY OF BEEF MEATBALL. This research was aimed to determine the effect of different fillers on pH, water content, flavor and elasticity of beef meatball. This study used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and four replicates at each treatment. The treatments were involving 15% concentration of different fillers (R) including: R1 = tapioca flour, R2= sagu flour, R3 = corn flour, and R4 = wheat flour. The Variables were pH, water content, flavor and elasticity. The mean difference was tested using BNJ Test. The results showed that the filler of each flour in beef meatball significantly affected (P<0.05) on flavor, but did not affect the pH value, water content and elasticity onthe beef meatballs. It was concluded that the use of wheat flour(high protein) produced the best meatball quality of flavors, very preferred by panelists.Key words: beef, meatball, fillers

INFESTASI CAPLAK PADA SAPI DI DESA TOLOK KECAMATAN TOMPASO KABUPATEN MINAHASA
INFESTATION OF TICKS ON CATTLE IN TOLOK VILLAGE TOMPASO DISTRICT, MINAHASA. The tick is one of the most commonly encountered ectoparasites on livestock and can degrade its quality and quantity significantly. Risks caused by tick infestation include local skin damage, anemia, paralysis due to toxins, and disease transmission. A research project on tick infestation was conducted for 1 (one) month in Tolok Village of the Minahasa District due to counted the prevalence of tick infestation on cattle, the preference of tick infestation based on body parts, sex and age. The research used the survey method, in which tick samples were collected during the day, preserved in a 70% alcohol solution, and then counted in the laboratory of Faculty of Animal Science, Sam Ratulangi University of Manado. The results showed that tick infestation on cattle in Tolok Village yielded  100% prevalence  (all the cattle observed (n=53) were infested by ticks). Infestation preference based on body parts showed the highest on the crotch region (average 6,70 ticks) compared on the head  ( average 1,75 ticks ),  the neck (average 5,55 ticks), the back ( average 3,4 ticks), 4,44 ticks on the abdomen ( average 4,44 ticks), and the legs (1,11 ticks). Infestation preference based on sex showed the highest on female (32,05 ticks) compared  on male (20,65 ticks). Finally, based on the cattles’ age, the infestation preference were a average of 27 ticks on calfs and 26,15 ticks on adult cattles. Higher infestation preference was found in calfs rather than adult cattle. Keywords: Infestation, Tic
