    THE EFFECT OF EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND LANGUAGE COMPETENCE ON STUDENTS’ ARABIC LANGUAGE MOTIVATION

    This research was based on the assumption that if a person starts knowing a language from under 12 years of age, he/she will have the opportunity to be able to speak the foreign language as fluent as the native speaker. This research was aimed at determining whether educational background and Arabic language competence influence Arabic language motivation. This research used survey research with a quantitative approach, with the population of PBA students in the academic year 2017/2018. 89 students were chosen as the sample of this research by using purposive sampling technique. Data analysis carried out in this study was normality test, linearity test, multicollinearity test, and heteroscedasticity test. Hypotheses testing include correlation test, regression, t-test, and F-test. The results showed that there was a positive and significant influence of educational background and Arabic language competence on motivation in learning Arabic with the amount of 37.5%. The student background was dominated by students who had known Arabic since early childhood that the students experienced a lateral and positive transfer process.Furthermore, the competencies possessed by students are dominated by students with high competence of 39% of these two variables, obtained by 2 types of motivation, namely intrinsic and extrinsic motivation in Arabic language learning

    LANGUAGE ENVIRONMENT BASED ON MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES AT ISLAMIC BOARDING SCHOOL

    The purpose of this study was to find and analyze informal language environment based on multiple intelligences theory, and to find the achievements of Darul Muttaqien Islamic Boarding School Bogor in learning Arabic, both academic and non-academic achievements.This research was field research conducted at Tarbiyatul Mu\u27allimin wal Mu’allimât al-Islâmiyyah (TMI) class II and class V which is equivalent to the level of Madrasah Tsanawiyah class II and Madrasah Aliyah class II Darul Muttaqien Islamic Boarding School Bogor since July 2017 up to August 2018. This research was qualitative, using case study methods with steps: a) Analysis of findings continuously in the field, b) Grouping and organizing data, c) Making systematic notes and reading literature about other studies about relevant issues to obtain a framework that fits the findings in the field, and d) Evaluate each of the steps taken to avoid mistakes or sharpen the focus of the ongoing research. Data collection methods were in-depth interviews, participant observation, focus group discussions, and documentation. There were two types of data in this study: First, primary data was obtained from interviews, observation results, Focus Group Discussion results, and Lessson Plan/RPP/I\u27dâd Tadrîs, informal language environments, and learning evaluation. Second, secondary data is obtained from books, research journals, magazines, print and electronic media. This study proved that learning Arabic with Howard Gardner’s Multiple intelligences theory approach has a positive effect and very effective in improving students\u27 language skills. Islamic boarding school with integrated, integrative and comprehensive education system has applied this theory in the process of learning Arabic, both in class and in the Islamic boarding school environment with the support of kyai, teachers, and representative facilities

    This research aims to develop Individual Differences-Based Speaking Skills Learning Model in Arabic Language Education Program of Institute for Islamic studies Batusangkar. The Research questions to answer are how to design, how is praticality and than effectiveness of the model. The Research and Development Method appload Dick and Carry Development Model. The results of this research are as follows: 1) The design of the learning model is based on three student groups; 2) In terms of practicality, 87% of the students are able and to solvie problems in the process of learning Arabic, 67% of the students are confident to be able to speak Arabic; 3) In terms of effectiveness, the use of this learning model has an effect on improving  the  student’s learning outcomes, This is indicated by  the “ t “ test result 2,036 ˂ 7,110 ˃ 2,036. The research concludes that the model is feasible, practical, and effective in improving, the student’s speaking skills

    This study aims to reveal; 1) the structure and characteristics of the style of Isti\u27ârah (metaphor), 2)  causes of beauty and implications of using Isti\u27ârah on meaning in Yâsîn Fadhîlah based on the theoretical perspective of Abd al-Qahir al-Jurjani. Researchers use descriptive qualitative research method by narrating the analysis of the object of study. The results showed some types of structure of Isti\u27arah al-Jurjani in verse and Yasin Fadhilah prayer, namely Isti\u27ârah which gives meaning benefit, Isti\u27ârah in verbs and nouns, Isti\u27ârah which similar form similarity, Isti\u27ârah whose form of similarity in the form of the meaning of nature, and Isti\u27ârah whose form of similarity is taken from the sensory and non-sensory delusion. The characteristics of Isti\u27ârah in Yâsîn Fadhîlah is the appointment of short, concise, hyperbolic style in showing the greatness of God as well as the conditions and torture of the unbelievers

    ANALYSIS OF TEST ITEM ON THE FINAL TEST SEMESTER EXAM ON ARABIC SUBJECTS

    This research is aimed; (a) to give a description about Arabic final semester test questions arrangements procedure at the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training in UIN Imam Bonjol Padang. (b) to give a description about the quality of the test as seen from its validity, reliability, difficulty, and differentiation capacity. (c) to give a description that the lecturers never did an exam questions analysis of Arabic exam subject at Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training in UIN Imam Bonjol Padang. This research uses the descriptive method with quantitative and qualitative data. The population within this research is the college students of Tadris major in faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training who follows the final semester exam of 2017-2018 tenet years, especially in Arabic test subject. The sample taken during this research is the college students from the Tadris major, who followed the final semester exam on Arabic subject, by using the purpose sampling technique. The data collecting technique used was documentation, interview, and questionnaires. The results of this research are (1) the types of this tests are achievement test from the teaching objectives aspect, teacher-made test from the arrangement aspect, summative test from the time of implementation aspect, written test from the method of performing aspects, and subjective test from the answer scoring aspect, (2) the quality of Arabic test year 2017/2018: (a) validity sufficient, (b) test reliability is high which is 0,74, (c) the difficulty is easy earning it a ‘bad’ category, which is 45 numbers of questions or 11,11%, (d) the differentiation capacity is bad, which is 45 numbers of questions, or 22,22%, (3) the reason why the lecturers and question maker team did not held a question analysis are as follows: (a) some of the Arabic lecturers in faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training in UIN Imam Bonjol Padang are not scholars of Arabic education major or not lenient with S-1 and S-2 academic degree, (b) they have zero experience in doing test analysis, (c) there is no order from the authorities which motivates the lecturers in doing test analysis, (d) the lack of understanding about analysis, and (e) there are lecturers who have never received training or seminar about evaluation and analysis

    CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT AND ARABIC LEARNING PROCESS BASED ON MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

    This study addressed to explore classroom management and Arabic Learning process based on Multiple intelligences theory implemented by the teacher. The study was a case study with descriptive qualitative approach. The data were collected by interview, documentation, and observation. Then, the data were analyzed with the following steps: data collection, data reduction, data display, verification, and affirmation conclusions. The result of this study revealed that the students were classified based on their intelligences with interview and appropriate test of multiple intelligences done by MIR team. Therefore, Arabic teacher implemented a suitable method in the Arabic learning process for each class based on their needs. Yet, the teacher faced an obstacle when teaching the students with logical-mathematical and interpersonal intelligences. Another data indicated that classroom was not only the class for learning, sometimes the teacher challenged the students to study outdoor, school environment. The school environment and facilities contributed to support learning process and give the students more space to be creative and aware with what they found in the school environment

    THE MAPPING OF ARABIC LANGUAGE LEARNING IN SENIOR HIGH SCHOOLS AND VOCATIONAL SCHOOLS IN MALANG REGENCY

    This study aims to map the learning of Arabic in Senior High Schools and Vocational Schools in Malang Regency covering the aspects of 1) teacher qualification, 2) curriculum and development, 3) teaching materials, 4) teaching strategies, 5) instructional media, and 6) evaluation implementation. The research was conducted with a descriptive model. Of the population 183 Senior High School and Vocational Schools, 12 schools were taken using a cluster sampling. The data were collected using questionnaires filled by Arabic teachers in all sample schools. The data analysis was performed according to the steps a) identification of data, b) tabulation of data, c) data grouping, d) data quantification, and e) description of data. This study found (1) all Arabic teachers in Senior High Schools and Vocational Schools in Malang Regency have a standard qualification of Arabic teacher in school, (2) Senior High Schools and Vocational Schools in Malang Regency using the Ministry of Education and Culture KTSP curriculum which was elaborated by teachers into syllabus form and Lesson plans, (3) teaching materials used were in the form of textbooks and student worksheets with various titles and publishers, (4) reading and vocabulary learning was carried out with translation techniques; speaking skills were trained by giving students time to practice dialogue, and writing skills were trained through sentence exercises, copying texts, combining two sentences, and completing paragraphs; (5) teachers utilized instructional media, drawings, original objects, hearing, charts/scheme, or language lab; and (6) the majority of teachers evaluated the lessons at the end of each unit

    This research aimed at finding out how the orientation is towards Arabic language computing, the efforts contributed to this approach, the difficulties encountered in linguistic computing, and the solutions to these challenges in an applied and theoretical approach at the same time. One of the outputs of the research was to develop a proposed vision and a mission (digitization or computerization of the Arabic language) within the programs of the Arabic language at Sultan Zainal Abidin University in Terengganu, Malaysia. The study concluded several recommendations, the most important was the need for concerted efforts in the field of Arabic computer linguistics between linguists and students, and to spread computer awareness among linguists by encouraging universities to allocate a course on computerization of the Arabic language and creating a new specialization in Arabic language, to develop the linguistic councils in fulfilling the challenges of computerization of Arabic, translating all scientific works written and published in the field of Arabic computer linguistics in foreign languages by Arab and foreign researchers and transferring them into Arabic, creating a dictionary for the computer linguistics terminology in Arabic, and applications of developments of instructional technologies such as machine translation, electronic dictionary and so on

    PENGAPSAHAN: TRANSLATION MODELS, LOCAL LANGUAGE PRESERVATION, AND LANGUAGE ACCULTURATION PROCESSES IN KIAI BOOKS OF COASTAL JAVA

    Pengapsahan model is a translation model that has long been used by Kiai in several traditional pesantren (Islamic boarding schools) on coastal Java. During this time, the conjugation model is only understood as a tool for analyzing text structures, whereas far more than that, there is a variety of Javanese typically used in pesantren having a social role so that the variety of Javanese is still preserved by pesantren communities. This paper examines the model of analyzing the pesantren books. The study will also look at the formulation of Kitabi Javanese language and the reasons why the variety of Javanese of the pesantren that continues to be preserved and maintained by the pesantren community, as well as how the process of conjugation has become a part of the process of acculturation in Javanese and Arabic in the texts of religious books. The results of this study, First; the conjugation model is a special model for Arabic texts created by Islamic boarding school scholars with various analytical tools in it; Second, the variety of languages used in the conjugation of the book is a variety of Javanese of coastal dialects and it has become a corpus of its language which is called Jawa Kitabi (Kitabi Javanese); Third, the process of acculturation of Arabic-Javanese in the tradition of conjugation is characterized by the emergence of the pegon script, the emergence of Javanese translation books with the Arabic structure of fusha, the existence of mixed code phenomena in the writing and translating pesantren books, both mixed codes of Javanese-Arabic, Javanese-Indonesian and mixed codes of Javanese Krama-Ngoko

    A SEMANTIC ANALYSIS OF WORDS “KHALAQA, JA’ALA, BADA’A, SHANA’A, FATHARA” IN REVEALING THE CONCEPT OF HUMAN CREATION

    This qualitative research argues that the concept of human creation in the holy Quran can be revealed by analyzing the words khalaqa, ja’ala, bada’a, shana’a, and fathara. In doing the analysis, the meaning of words is characterized based on lexical, grammatical, and contextual aspects. This research found that there are only two words used in verses concerning human creation, namely ‘خلق، جعل’ / ‘ja’ala, khalaqa’. The word khalaqa is an intransitive word (fi’il muta’addy) consisting of a single object (maf’ul). Furthermore, the word ‘جعل’ is a transitive verb consisting of two objects (muta’addi bi maf’ulaini). In the context of human creation, the word is used to describe the function of human beings. The word جعل functions as an element to describe the role of an object in the respective verses
