    Fonotaktik Bahasa Jawa Kuno

The phonotactics of Old Javanese has been described by Ogloblin (1991), Mardiwarsito and Kridalaksana (2012), and Suarka (2018). In general, these studies explain the phonotactics of Old Javanese based on the number of phonotactic patterns found along with examples of words that represent each of these tribal patterns. However, the three studies have not explained the specific types of phonemes that are distributed in the tribal patterns in Old Javanese. The purpose of this research is to describe the distribution of Old Javanese phonemes in monosyllabic words. This research uses a qualitative method. The data sources used are the Old Javanese-Indonesian dictionary (Zoetmulder, 2006) and the online dictionary of the Old Javanese language http://sealang.net/ojed/. This research uses the classification of Old Javanese tribal patterns by Suarka (2018); there are 11 phonotactic patterns in Old Javanese. Data collection was done by searching and recording words containing the 11 Old Javanese tribal patterns in the Old Javanese-Indonesian dictionary (Zoetmulder, 2006). The data were grouped based on the type of phonemes that occupy the existing tribal patterns. This research produces a type of phoneme that tends to be distributed to occupy the position of the tribal pattern in monosyllabic words

People sometimes do not clearly state what they mean, but instead, use other statements that are certainly understood by their speaking partner. This is an implication. Implications can also be found in the form of Javanese language statements because of the characteristic of Javanese people who tend to be indirect in expressing something. This article aims to discuss the implications and the meanings of Javanese language statements in the anthology of cerkak (cerita cekak)/'short stories' entitled Simbar Menjangan (2022) by Impian Nopitasari. This object was chosen because the speech in it is pragmatically close to everyday life and contains various Javanese speeches against the backdrop of plural Javanese life stories, such as urban and rural life, migration, relations between two cultures, and so on. This article is a descriptive-qualitative study with data collection through the observe-record method and data processing and analysis using the contextual pragmatic matching method. The theory of implication is used to examine the principle of cooperation through four maxim principles developed by Grice (1989), that's quantity maxim, quality maxim, relation maxim, and manner maxim. The results of the study show that (1) there are seven meanings in implications, including allowing, convincing, providing reasons, agreeing (as politeness), inciting gossip, rejecting/avoiding gossip, and opening/inciting conversation; (2) the meanings of implications in the Javanese language statements have their characteristics, i.e. many statements are found that have different meanings or convey meanings or information that are not direct. This is certainly based on Javanese social and cultural aspects, such as habits, politeness, formality, and familiarity.

This study aims to find out the types of repetition and how they were translated in children-story books for emergent readers. The data were taken from five children story books, and they show the variety of repetitions. They are mesodiplosis, anaphora, epistrophe, sentence repetition, epizeuxis, dan syploce. Through four stages data analysis, this research found six translation techniques used in translating the repetitions: established equivalence, implicitation, explicitation, discursive creation, reduction, and paraphrase. Some of them contributed to change the types of repetition. The techniques are paraphrase, reduction, and discursive creation. The result shows that those three techniques decrease the accuracy for not accommodating the repetitions. However, there is only one technique that contributed to decrease the acceptability. It is discursive creation. Afterwards, the translation of the children story books for emergent readers gains 2.9 out of 3 in terms of accuracy and acceptability

In the current era of globalization, there is a lot of competition in the field of electronic sports (e-sport). In these matches there are commentators who often combine two or more languages in one speech and elements of other languages into one speech. This study aims to determine the form of code mix in the commentator's speech in the seventh game of the M5 Global Championship match and analyze the causes of code mix. This research is descriptive qualitative in nature with data collection techniques in the form of free listening techniques. The data obtained is then analyzed using the interactive model analysis technique. The results showed that there were 95 forms of code mix. In the data, only one of the three types of code mixing was found based on the absorption element, namely outer code mixing. Meanwhile, based on the level of linguistic devices, three types were found, namely word code mixing, phrase code mixing, and clause code mixing. Factors causing code mixing are the limited use of code and the use of popular terms

Insecurity in Implicature as Found in Taylor Swift’s Midnights

People must have insecurities. In expressing the insecurities, they have their own ways, either in explicit or implicit ways. When people implicitly express their insecurities, they flout Grice’s four maxims, which generate implicature. Implicature is not only happening in spoken form but written form as well, like in song lyrics. Taylor Swift is a singer/songwriter who pours her personal experiences into lyrics, and Midnights (3am Edition) is her album filled with such experiences. This study aims to discuss the insecurity signs in the Midnights (3am Edition) song lyrics and then identify the types of implicature in those insecurity signs. This study employed psychological insecurity theory from Maslow (1942) and implicature theory from Grice (1989). This study used descriptive qualitative as the method to analyze the data. Among the 73 data found, the insecurity sign number 4 (Feeling emotionally unstable; feeling tension, conflict, etc.) dominated the findings with 28 data. This result ties in with the album’s concept: about ruminations. Generalized implicature dominated findings with 42 data. Generalized implicature is dominantly used for the purpose of the songs’ reception in the market so broader audiences can understand the songs without having to understand the context or background knowledge about Taylor Swift

Game subtitle must be translated using proper techniques to avoid misunderstanding when the game is played. In addition, Indonesian and English have different systems of personal pronouns, which must be known and understood by the translator. Indonesian has several parameters of personal pronouns heavily influenced by various aspects of interpersonal relationship between speakers. This research used the descriptive qualitative method. Data in the form of sentences containing personal pronouns were taken from Dreadout 2’s English subtitle and its Indonesian translation. This research used two sets of theory: Molina and Albir’s translation technique (2002) and Moeliono, et al.’s parameters of Indonesian personal pronouns (2017). Results show that the translator used three techniques, i.e. established equivalence, particularization, and variation, to translate the English pronouns. Besides that, the selection of Indonesian personal pronouns as equivalents was found to be deeply influenced by the parameters of social status and kinship
