ANALISIS STRUKTUR EKSPERIENSIAL PADA TERJEMAHAN UNSUR POST-MODIFIER DALAM KELOMPOK NOMINA DAN DAMPAKNYA TERHADAP KUALITAS TERJEMAHAN DALAM BUKU TO BEE OR NOT TO BEE KARYA JOHN PENBERTHY
Get PDFThis research aims to determine the forms of post-modifier on nominal group, the use of translation technique, and the impact of the translation technique to the translation quality in the book To Bee or Not to Bee. The elements have their roles and functions experientially. In order to get the aspect of readability of the nominal group, the translator must have understanding of how the nominal group is formed based on the experiential structure. This research uses descriptive and qualitative based on Systemic Functional Linguistics Approach. The data collecting techniques used in this research are criterion- based sampling and document analysis by using document analysis, questionnaire and interview in order to obtain the data by giving some questions to the informants. The results of this research show that there are 536 used in this research which consist of non-finite clauses such as relative clauses, participle clauses (past and present) and to-infinitive. The results show there are 124 data (59,61 %) unchanged, 78 data (37,50%) shifting and 6 data (2,89 %) untranslated. Adjective phrases consist of 54 data (10,08 %) with 39 data (72,22 %) unchanged, 14 data (25,93 %) shifting and 1 data (1,85 %) untranslated. Preposition phrases consist of 274 data (51,11 %) with 143 data (52,19 %) unchanged, 97 data (35,41 %) shifting and 34 data (12,40 %) untranslated. The applications of the translation techniques used in this research are single techniques, double techniques, and triple techniques. They have impacts to the translation quality especially in the forms of post-modifier in the nominal groups

The method of collecting data in this research are observation, quotation, document and in analysis data use structural analysis and Semiotic for type analysis. Analysis function use approach hermeniutik. The research result that we know the type of Lelakaq Sasak in Mataram regency campaign. Based on structural analysis including theme; advice. Linguistic; Metaphor, perbandingan, Hyperbola. Sounds; Aliterasi and Asonasi Diksi or rau and rimba. Lelakaq Sasak’s function as entertaint, stimulus and advice. The purpose of Lelakaq Sasak is about describe event and feeling. The final result of this research: type, function and purpose of Lelakaq Sasak in Mataram candidate regency election campaign and to give moral value, material, spiritual and people’s visualisation.Key words: type, function and meaning of Lelakaq Sasak in Mataram candidate regency election campaign
THE ANALYSIS OF A CERTAIN TECHNIQUE THAT IMPACTS ON THE QUALITY OF TRANSLATION IN THE STATEMENT OF RESPONDING TOWARD ARGUING SPEECH ACT IN THE NOVEL ALLEGIANT
No full textABSTRACT This research discusses about how a certain technique can impact on the quality of translation in the statements of responding toward arguing speech act. It aims to determine the impact of choosing a certain micro technique of translation toward the quality in terms of accuracy, acceptability, and readability. This research can be classified as a descriptive qualitative research which focuses on a single case. The source data of this research is the novel Allegiant, its translation in Indonesian, and the two raters. Then, the data are collected from the statement that responds toward arguing. Furthermore, Focus Group Discussion that has been done by two raters and the researcher is used to assess the three aspects of translation quality and determine the micro technique that has been applied to translate the statement that responds arguing speech act. The result of this research is that the application of micro technique of translation that is mostly applied is established equivalent technique that has been applied 172 data 52,9 % that has been influenced the quality of translation because he total average of quality translation is 2,97 that is considered as a good translation. In other words, the establish equivalent has a good impact toward quality of translation toward statement that responds of arguing speech act.
PERGESERAN BAHASA DAERAH LAMPUNG PADA MASYARAKAT KOTA BANDAR LAMPUNG

It is located at the Southern of Sumatra Island that makes Lampung as the only gateway for those who want to go to Sumatra Island. The complexity of the society in Lampung, especially in Bandar Lampung city, has an impact on the survival of indigenous people of Lampung itself. One of the effects is the waning of the indigenous languages of Lampung in the city. The aim of this study is to find out the reasons why Lampung is starting to be abandoned, to know how to use Lampung Language, to know what areas still survive in the use of Lampung Language, and to describe what efforts have been made to preserve the Lampung language in the Bandar Lampung city. The qualitative approach is used in this study. The data are obtained by applying the methods of observation, interview and document analysis. This study found that in Bandar Lampung city Lampung language experience a language shift which then will be extinction if not preserved optimally
KOHESI GRAMATIKAL DAN LEKSIKAL DALAM KUMPULAN JOKES "THE GOD LOVES GOLFERS" KARYA RAY FOLEY
Get PDFPenelitian ini menganalisis kumpulan jokes berbahasa Inggris. Pendekatan yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan analisis wacana. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk: (1) mendeskripsikan penanda kohesi gramatikal dalam teks jokes karya Ray Foley, (2) mendeskripsikan penanda kohesi leksikal dalam teks jokes karya Ray Foley, (3) menjelaskan peran kohesi gramatikal dan leksikal dalam penyampaian isi jokes kepada pembaca.Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah dokumen. Sumber data yang didapat dari dokumen berupa teks bacaan yang terdapat di dalam kumpulan jokes berbahasa Inggris. Data penelitian ini berupa teks bacaan dari kumpulan jokes berbahasa Inggris karya Ray Foley.Dari hasil analisis data, disimpulkan bahwa teks bacaan bergenre jokes karya Ray Foley merupakan sebuah wacana yang padu karena didukung oleh penanda kohesi. Dalam wacana ini ditemukan empat penanda kohesi gramatikal, yaitu referensi 38 Substitusi 2 ellipsis 1 dan konjungsi 4 Selanjutnya, dalam teks berbahasa Inggris karya Ray Foley juga ditemukan penanda kohesi leksikal, yaitu repetisi 211 Sinonimi 3 Antonimi 4 dan kolokasi 8. Kohesi gramatikal yang paling dominan dalam teks jokes berbahasa Inggris karya Ray Foley adalah referensi, sedangkan kohesi leksikal yang paling dominan adalah repetisi. Penanda kohesi tersebut memiliki peran dalam memunculkan alur cerita pada isi teks jokes karya Ray Foley.Kata kunci : Kumpulan Jokes berbahasa Inggris, Kohesi Gramatikal, Kohesi Leksikal, Peran Kohesi
TELAAH FUNGSI MAKNA LOGIS PADA CERITA RAKYAT TIMUN EMAS DAN TERJEMAHANNYA
Get PDFThis article discusses the function of logical meaning which can be identified from logico-semantic and taxis interdependence. This descriptive-qualitative research employs systemic functional linguistics approach. The data sources are all clause complexes in the Timun Emas folkflore written by the best IKAPI writer and translated into English by the translator of Litte Serambi. The function of logical meaning (projection, enhancement and extension) in source and target language spreads to all text structures, started from orientation, complication, evaluation, resolution and coda. The complication had distinctive feature of projection showed by dialogues between characters. Temporal series in the enhancement (time) plays pivotal role in constructing events. Then, the the extension function in Timun Emas folklore and its translation is worthwhile to give information for the comprehensible narrative with the help of chronological series from enhancement (time) function.Next, some changes of the logical meaning after translation process do not seemingly influence to the text structure of this folklore. Artikel ini membahas fungsi makna logis yang bisa dilihat dari hubungan semantik logika dan ketergantungan klausa dalam klausa-klausa kompleks. Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif kualitatif dan menggunakan pendekatan linguistik sistemik fungsional. Sumber data berupa seluruh klausa kompleks dalam cerita rakyat Timun Emas yang ditulis penulis terbaik IKAPI beserta terjemahan yang dihasilkan penerbit Little Serambi. Fungsi proyeksi, ganda dan ekstensi baik pada bahasa sumber maupun bahasa sasaran terdapat pada seluruh bagian struktur teks dimulai dari orientasi, komplikasi, evaluasi, resolusi dan koda. Bagian komplikasi menjadi khas dari fungsi proyeksi lokusi parataksis yang berupa dialog antar tokoh. Rangkaian temporal dalam fungsi ganda (waktu) memerankan peranan yang penting dalam konstruksi kejadian. Kemudian, kemunculan fungsi ekstensi cerita rakyat Timun Emas dan terjemahannya bermanfaat untuk memberikan informasi agar pembaca mudah memahami cerita dengan bantuan rangkaian kronologis fungsi ganda (waktu). Terakhir, beberapa perubahan fungsi logis setelah diterjemahkan tidak berpengaruh kepada struktur teks narasi cerita rakyat ini
MODALITAS SEBAGAI REALISASI MAKNA INTERPERSONAL PADA TALKSHOW MATA NAJWA ON STAGE "SEMUA KARENA AHOK"
No full textArtikel ini akan membahas modalitas sebagai realisasi makna interpersonal pada sebuah talk show. Mata Najwa on stage adalah sebuah talk show yang dipandu oleh Najwa Shihab membahas mengenai berbagai topik dengan tokoh-tokoh masyarakat. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengidentifikasi jenis modalitas yang digunakan oleh Najwa Shihab dan menjelaskan hubungan antara modalitas dengan makna interpersonal pada talk show Mata Najwa on stage “Semua Karena Ahok”. Data penelitian ini diambil dari dialog yang terjadi antara Najwa Shihab dan narasumber (bintang tamu). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Najwa Shihab menggunakan 25 probabilitas tingkat tinggi, 5 probabilitas tingkat sedang, 1 probabilitas tingkat rendah, 5 obligasi tingkat tinggi dan 1 inklinasi tingkat rendah. Penggunaan modalitas tingkat tinggi serta adanya obligasi menunjukkan bahwa posisi Najwa Shihab tidak sejajar dengan partisipan lain pada talk show tersebut.Kata kunci: makna interpersonal, modalitas, obligasi, probabilitas, statu
ANALISIS TEKNIK PENERJEMAHAN ADAPTASI DAN VARIASI PADA SUBTITLE FILM BATMAN VERSI BAHASA JAWA MATARAMAN
Get PDFThe aim of this study is to identify and describe the cultural elements translated using adaptation technique and linguistic elements translated using variation technique in Batman movie subtitled into Mataraman Javanese. Then explain the translator’s reason of using the adaptation and variation technique, and describe the effect of both techniques towards the translation quality. This is a prescriptive qualitative study and categorized as an embedded research. The sources of data are 1) script of Batman movie and its translation in Mataraman Javanese, 2) the raters as informant who evaluate the translation in terms of accuracy and acceptability, and 3) the target audiences to rate the comprehension.Based on the research result, the researcher collected 110 data which consist of 48 adaptation data and 62 variation data. The adaptation data in this study are ecology, material culture, social culture, procedure/ activity/ artistic term, economic system and language. Meanwhile, the variation data contain the personal pronouns for first person, second person, and third person translated into speech level of ngoko (showing low politeness), madya (showing middle politeness) and krama (showing high politeness). The use of adaptation and variation techniques by the translator is in line with the purpose of Mataraman Javanese program held by local TV station to accommodate the local wisdom. For that reason, the translation ideology of this subtitle is domestication by employing those translation techniques which are closes to the target language culture. Generally, the use of adaptation and variation techniques in this study is quite accurate, acceptable in the target culture and comprehensible to the target audience
KEMENANGAN DONALD TRUMP SEBAGAI PRESIDEN AMERIKA SERIKAT KE-45 MELALUI ANALISIS KONSTRUKSI KLAUSA RELATIF BAHASA INGGRIS DAN BAHASA INDONESIA SECARA SEMANTIS
Get PDFThis research aims (1) to comprehend the relative construction of English and Indonesia language on some texts relating to Donald Trump is elected as the 45th President of USA in 2016 semantically, and (2) to describe the analysis of relative constructive clauses between English and Indonesia language semantically. The research method is descriptive qualitative. Meanwhile, method of collecting data is agih method and the techniques are substitution, expand, interuption, and mutation. Based on the texts relating to Donald Trump is elected as the President of USA in 2016, it is found that the analysis of relative constructive clause of English and Indonesia language is based on the use of conjunction. In Indonesia language texts, there is one conjuction, namely: “yang”, meanwhile in English language texts, there are five conjuctions, namely: “who, whom, which, whose, and that”. If it is viewed from its semantics adjacent, relative clause can be divided into two sections based on its orthographics, namely: (1) restrictive relative clause which refers to the explained antecedent or as the integral unity from antecedent and unmarked by comma, and (2) non-restrictive relative clause as the additional information from antecedent explained and marked by comma

Research studies conducted in the form of text with the approach of critical discourse analysis (CDA). The data collected from the text unit of the novel trilogy of Sheikh Siti Jenar by Agus Sunyoto. The result of this research is, asceticism as individual morale leads to social and political morale. And the ascetic ethos of Sheikh Siti Jenar as a human person provides the impetus and limitation to act in his daily behavior.
