KEADAAN MIKROBIOTA SALURAN CERNA PADA ANAK SEKOLAH DASAR YANG MENGALAMI STUNTING DI LOMBOK BARAT
The purpose of this study was to compare the population of gut microbiota between the normal height and stunted in primary school children in West Lombok. The study design was observational study with comparative design. The study involved 115 primary school students with age 9-12 years old by simple random sampling. The research data included the measurement of height for age and gut microbiota analysis of faecal samples. Based on the results of t-test, the number of bacteria Lactobacillus in stunting group (6.96±0.94 log CFU/g) were significantly (p <0.05) lower than normal group (7,38±0,98 log CFU/g). The population of Bifidobacteria, Enterobacter, and E. coli were not different between the two group. However the trend of Bifidobacteria count in stunting group (8.19±0.74 log CFU/g) was lower than normal group (8.22±0.79 log CFU/g) while the number of Enterobacter and E. coli in stunting group (7.82±0.68 and 7.03±0.97 log CFU/g) were higher than the normal group (7.71±0.81 and 6.96±1.22 log CFU/g)
PENGEMBANGAN PRODUK PANGAN DENGAN SUBSTITUSI RED PALM OIL SEBAGAI ALTERNATIF PANGAN FUNGSIONAL TINGGI BETA KAROTEN
The objective of this study was to develop a bagelen cookies with Red Palm Oil (RPO) substitution as an alternative of functional food high in beta carotene. Complete randomize design with level of RPO as a treatment was applied in this study to produce three substitution formulas and one basic formula. The selected bagelen was determined by sensory evaluation by considering the highest average value and level of RPO substitution. Bagelen with 42% Red Palm Oil (F3) was preferred by 70% panelist. This formula contained 3.11% water, 0.94% ash, 26.72% fat, 41.95% saturated fatty acids and 35.07% unsaturated fatty acids, 8.53% protein, 60.70% carbohydrate, 18.29 ppm (mg/kg) β-carotene, antioxidant activity 75.11% with AEAC value was 43.44 mg/100 g. With its high beta carotene as natural antioxidants, this product may be classified as functional food that are beneficial to health for preventing atherosclerosis
Efek intervensi minuman tempe terhadap tekanan darah penderita hipertensi dan hiperkolesterolemia
The aim of this study was to determine the effect of tempe drink intervention on blood pressure of hypertension and also hypercholesterolemia subjects. This study used a Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) design with 30 males and females subjects, who were divided into three treatment groups-tempe drink of A formulated from local sprouted soybean (TDA), tempe drink of B formulated from imported soybean (TDB), and control. The inclusion criterias were adults aged 25-55 years, not being menopause and pregnant, total cholesterol levels ≥200 mg/dl, systolic blood pressure level 121-139 mmHg, diastolic blood pressure level 81-89 mmHg and willing to partcipate in research by signing an informed consent. The tempe drink was given three glasses a day for four weeks continuously, contained at least 25 g of protein/day. The control group was not given the tempe drink. Blood pressure data were collected every week during intervention. The results showed that the effect of TDA and TDB compared to control subjects on systolic blood pressure was significantly different. Other ways the effect of TDA and TDB compared to control subjects on diastolic blood pressure was not significantly different, but the trend was decreasing
POLA ASUH DAN STATUS GIZI BALITA DI KECAMATAN LAPE, KABUPATEN SUMBAWA, NUSA TENGGARA BARAT
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between caregiving behavior and nutritional status of under five children. This research used the quantitative cross-sectional design. The number of samples were 70 mothers taken by a multistage random sampling. The data was gained through in-depth interview and observation. Nutritional status was obtained by anthropometric measurement based on the z-score weight-for-age index. Caregiving behaviors that consist of attention to the mothers and feeding practices were poor, while home health practices were adequate. Most of the nutritional status of children under five was good (57.1%). Correlation analysis showed that attention to the mothers (r=0.321; p<0.05), feeding practices (r=0.252; p<0.05) and home health practices (r=0.358; p<0.05) were related positively to nutritional status. The study showed that caregiving behavior that affects nutritional status was attention to the mothers, feeding practices and home health practices
ESTIMASI ASUPAN KAROTENOID PADA USIA DEWASA DI INDONESIA
The objective of this study was to estimate carotenoid intake of Indonesian adults. A cross-sectional study design was used in this study. Secondary data was analyzed from the national consumption survey 2014 that was conducted by Research and Development Department of Indonesia Health Ministry. The number of subjects were 86,036. Assessment of food consumption used food recall 1x24 hour. Carotenoid content was obtained from the various references that have been matched to survey’s food items. The total carotenoid intake was the sum of five carotenoid sub-classes (α-caroten, β-caroten, β-cryptoxanthine, lutein + zeaxanthine and lycopene). Median of total carotenoid intake was 551.62 µg/day. Intake of total carotenoid was significantly difference by subject characteristics (gender, age, area, education level, job) and food groups consumption (p<0.05)
JUS BUAH JAMBU BIJI MERAH (Psidium guajava L.) DAPAT MENURUNKAN SKOR ATHEROGENIC INDEX OF PLASMA
Objective of this research was to investigate the effect of red guava juices (Psidium guajava L) on score Atherogenic Index of Plasma (AIP) on toll collectors. Experimental studies with randomized pre-post control group design. Subjects were selected by clustered random sampling. Subjects is Fourthy toll collectors in Semarang. The treatment group received 250 ml red guava juice for 21 days while the control group did not. Measurement of score AIP with log(Triglyceride (Test GPO) & High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) (CHOD-PAP)) before and after study, food intake was measured by 3 x 24 recall hours. Data analysis by paired t-test & independent t-test, Wilcoxon & Mann Whitney test general linear model. The effect of red guava juice to AIP scores was not significant before controlled by age, level of carbohydrate intake and initial conditions(p>0.05). Multivariate analysis showed that the effect of red guava juice to AIP score was significant after controlled by age, carbohydrate intake and initial conditions (p<0.05)
