SPEECH DISORDER FOUND IN THE MAIN CHARACTER OF RECTOVERSO MOVIE

There are some factors that make language skills different, such as when people cannot communicate well with each other or in other words, speech disorder. The writer is interested in analyzing stuttering phenomenon in Rectoverso movie. Stuttering is a generic term that describes speech that does not follow normal, conventional rhythm. In this research, the writer investigates the characteristics of stuttering produced by the main character, “Abang†and the factors causing “Abang†to stutter in Rectoverso movie.The writer used qualitative research in document analysis in order to answer the research problem. The data were utterances produced by “Abang†and scenes containing of stuttering phenomenon in Rectoverso movie. The writer used the theory proposed by Lavid (2003) and Campbell & Hill (1987) to analyze the characteristics of stuttering. Moreover, the writer also used the theory proposed by Indah (2011), Lavid (2003) and Owens et. al (2007) to analyze the factors causing “Abang†to stutter.This study found that there are two characteristics of stuttering experienced by “Abangâ€; namely audible & silent blocking and monosyllabic whole-word repetitions. This study also found three factors causing “Abang†to stutter; stress factor, factor of neurotic famial and habit factor.It was found that mood and condition are the important aspects or factorsinfluencing “Abang†to stutter. This study suggests the readers who speak withstuttered people to be patient, understand the condition to make them comfortablewhile speaking and also create a good atmosphere or mood while speaking withstuttered people. This study also suggests the next researcher to use another movieor media to reveal the characteristics of stuttering and the factors causing peopleto stutter
ENNIS DEL MARR’S FLUID GENDER IN ANNIE PROULX’S BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN SHORT STORY

The researcher conduct a research on gender fluid in “Brokeback Mountain†short story where Ennis del Marr shows the gender fluid.The aims of this research are to analyze and explain the meaning of the message inside the short story. This research is analyzed by using the qualitative research design that the data are collected from the short story to be analyzed. The data are analyzed with Judith Butler’s queer theory. Since the problems that appears deal with the confusion and the trouble of the gender, Judith Butler’s queer theory is used in this research. Therefore, from Butler’s statement it helps to understand the character’s identity and inner conflict which shifting since it is violate the values in the society.The result of the study shows that gender as an unstable identity appears as the effect of the social construction. Someone’s identity also recognized with following some steps that will help the identity to be understood. The steps which appear are: gender is unstable identity, gender is performative, and there is no identity behind the expression of the gender. The gender identity also appears as the effect of the social judgment that will reconstruct the gender itself

Get PDFKata kunci: Gairaigo, majalah, kata pinjaman atau kata serapan, perubahan bentuk dan makna. Bahasa selalu berubah mengikuti perkembangan manusia sebagai mahluk yang berbahasa. Adanya perkembangan kebudayaan, ilmu dan teknologi juga merupakan salah satu faktor yang mempengaruhi perubahan bahasa. Perubahan yang paling sering terjadi adalah peminjaman kosakata dari bahasa lain atau bisa disebut kata pinjaman. Kata pinjaman juga mengalami perubahan. Dalam penelitian ini terdapat 3 rumusan masalah yaitu: (1) Kosakata gairaigo apa saja yang mengalami pergeseran dan perubahan dari bahasa asli pada majalah WIRED? (2) Termasuk dalam golongan pergeseran gairaigo apa kosakata gairaigo yang terdapat pada majalah WIRED? (3) Apa sebab penggunaan gairaigo dari bahasa asing pada majalah WIRED? Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Data yang digunakan adalah kata serapan yang ada dalam majalah WIRED edisi no. 10 tahun 2013. Analisis dilakukan dengan mengklasifikasikan kosakata, mentabulasi, dan menganalisis perubahan makna, serta sebab penggunaan gairaigo.Dari data ditemukan 547 kata gairaigo. Dalam 547 kata gairaigo ditemukan 22 kata yang mengalami pemendekan gairaigo, 21 kata yang mengalami perubahan kelas kata pada gairaigo, 35 kata yang mengalami penambahan sufiks na pada kelas kata adjektiva, 65 kata yang mengalami perubahan makna, 11 kata adalah konshugo (gabungan gairaigo dan bahasa Jepang), 393 kata yang tidak mengalami perubahan gairaigo. Mengenai sebab penggunaan gairaigo terdapat 105 kata yang berlatar belakang ketiadaan kata di dalam bahasa Jepang untuk mendeskripsikan sesuatu yang dikarenakan budaya, 117 kata yang berlatar belakang nuansa makna yang terkandung pada suatu kata asing tidak dapat diwakili oleh padanan kata yang ada pada bahasa Jepang, 99 kata yang berlatar belakang kata asing yang dijadikan gairaigo dianggap efektif dan efisien, 226 kata yang berlatar belakang kata asing menurut rasa bahasa dipandang mempunyai nilai rasa agung, baik dan harmoni.Penelitian serupa dapat dilakukan dengan membandingkan hubungan perubahan gairaigo dengan latar belakangnya

No full textKata Kunci : setsuzokushi, naskah, pidatoDalam bahasa Jepang terdapat banyak konjungsi. Sebagai contoh desukara, shikashi, shoshite dan lainnya. Konjungsi tersebut sering digunakan dalam perlombaan bahasa Jepang. Alasannya ialah untuk menghubungkan konteks kalimat serta alur percakapan yang disampaikan dalam bahasa Jepang. Konjungsi yang biasa dipakai yaitu junsetsu, gyaku setsu, wadai tenkan dan masih banyak yang lainnya. Konjungsi tersebut bukan hanya dipakai untuk menghubungkan saja, namun juga berguna untuk memberikan pemahaman yang lebih kepada pendengar tentang alur pembicaraan yang disampaikan.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui konjungsi jenis apakah yang dipakai dalam sebuah teks pidato. Kemudian apakah fungsi konjungsi tersebut serta permasalahan yang muncul dalam penggunaan konjungsi dalam teks pidato bahasa Jepang. Metode yang digunakan yaitu metode deskriptif kualitatif. Sedangkan data yang dipakai yaitu berupa 13 naskah pidato bahasa Jepang Tingkat Nasional Tahun 2012 yang telah dilaksanakan di Jakarta.Kesimpulan yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini ialah dalam teks tersebut ditemukan 104 buah konjungsi yang tersebar kedalam jenis junsetsu, gyakusetsu, heiritsu, sentaku, tenka, setsumei, dan wadai tenkan. Hal ini membuktikan bahwa tujuh jenis konjungsi dalam bahasa Jepang ada pada 13 naskah pidato tersebut. Dan yang paling banyak digunakan yaitu konjungsi shikashi dan soshite. Konjungsi yang dipakai dalam teks pidato sebagian besar berfungsi sebagai penghubung antar kalimat. Sedangkan yang berfungsi sebagai penghubung antar kata hanya ditemukan satu buah. Dalam pemakaiannya dijumpai pula teks pidato yang memakai konjungsi shikashi sebanyak 6 kali secara berturut-turut. Ini disebabkan karena konjungsi tersebut merupakan konjungsi yang paling populer di kalangan pembelajar bahasa Jepang. selain itu dikarenakan minimnya media pembelajaran serta informasi mengenai konjungsi bahasa Jepang serta faktor intern dari mahasiswa yang kurang aktif mencari informasi. Dalam penelitian ini ditemukan pula penggunaan konjungsi soshite dan soredemo yang tidak sesuai dengan aturan yang telah ditentukan
KATHRYN BULKOVAC’s STRUGGLES AGAINST WOMEN TRAFFICKING IN WHISTLEBLOWER MOVIE

Similarly, the phenomenon of social system exists in Bosnia. Patriarchal system coupled with the chaos after the Balkan wars, has put this country in trouble trafficking of women. The number of Bosnians who are victims of war, especially men, resulting lost of social stability, both in the state and the family. A phenomenon which is also depicted in the film Whistleblower in which Bulkovac as the main character also struggle for women trafficking victims. To analyze this movie, the author uses the theory of feminism with a focus on how women are treated as an economic commodity.The results of this study show how the conditions of women trafficking victims from the point of view of Bulkovac as the main character. The victims here become economic commodity, shows how women snare to work, coupled with the dominance of patriarchy in Bosnia. Starting from the hopes of finding a better life, one of the key witnesses Bulkovac, joined the services of illegal labor brokers. The agencies have promised them to work as a waiter in a restaurant with high salaries. Without realizing it, a trap like this can pushed them down into the net that a lot of women trafficking in Bosnia as a country still ravaged. The victims, which has entered a country illegally causing them hesitate to seek legal counsel, especially due to their illegal status and also because many Bosnian police officers who took part in the woman trafficking. Furthermore, the victims must accept the fact that they are trapped in sexual commerciality, although it is not the victim's willingness. The conclusion, to be able to make up for their rights back, the victim must be willing to work for women trafficking of as sex labor. In this case Bulkovac as peacekeeper tasked to restore the social order was messed up due to the Balkan wars in Bosnia, as well as to help restore the rights of victims of trafficking of women who had taken away by the trafficker

One of the language phenomenon is in the practice of  language  used in  online shop business specifically clothes online shops  sold in Blackberry Messenger  in Blackberry Smartphone. Clothes online shop  is  a  popular shopping  way  nowadays  because  it  offers the practical way of shopping  for the buyers.  People as the consumer  prefer  to buy  their clothes  practically  by using Internet  in clothes online shops  rather than  going to  the  clothes  shops  such as boutiques, mall, department store,  or  traditional market. Clothes  online shop is the clothes shop which sells many clothes of man, woman and also children by uploading their pictures via Internet as the main marketing tool. It is sold via websites or social media  such as  Twitter,  Facebook,  Instagram,  Blackberry  Messenger, and many others.  In this case,  the writer observed  the  clothes  online  shops which are  sold  in Blackberry Messenger  through the group conversation  and clothes information in clothes online shops. THE VOICE OF FREEDOM IN BOB MARLEY’S SONG LYRICS

Supervisor: Juliati; Co-supervisor: Aris Siswanti.  Keywords: Bob Marley, voice of freedom, song lyrics, the kinds of freedom Song lyrics can express the social condition of the society. Song lyrics can also be used to deliver messages of freedom and peace. Some of the song lyrics that reflect the social condition are Bob Marley’s songs. Bob Marley is a well known Jamaican singer. Bob Marley’s song lyrics entitled Blackman Redemption, Rebel Music, Redemption Song, Smile Jamaica and Slave Driver reflect the voice of freedom. These songs reflect what happens to Jamaican people who used to be colonized by Spain and British.  The research employs sociological approach as the grounding theory to analyze the voice of freedom which is reflected in each song based on the kinds of freedom such as self freedom, collective freedom, spiritual freedom, and political freedom. The biography of Bob Marley and references about social condition in Jamaica are used as supporting information for the analysis.  The result of this study shows that Bob Marley’s song lyrics express the four kinds of freedom.  Self freedom is the first dominant theme. The  second is spiritual freedom,  and the  third is collective freedom, and the last is political freedom. Through  his songs, Bob Marley spreads the messages of freedom and peace by referring to the Jamaican’s experience in the colonial era. It is suggested that further researchers use semiotic approaches in Bob Marley’s other songs because many of his songs use symbols related to the Jamaican culture as the Rastafarians

Language production occurs in the human brain. One of language disorders  caused by the damage of the brain is called aphasia.  There are three broad categories of aphasia: fluent or Wernicke aphasia, non-fluent or Broca aphasia, and pure aphasia or Alexia. In this study, the writer only investigated the language production disorder  of someone suffer’s from  Broca aphasia.  This disorder will trouble someone in producing the language. The aim of this study was to find out the characteristics of language production of Mr. Arifin as a Broca aphasic. This study used  qualitative approach because it analyzed  the language production disorder from a Broca aphasic. Case study was applied in this study to get the detail description from the subject. To investigate the language production disorder from the Broca aphasic, the writer did interview and analyzed  the characteristics by using theory from Garman (1990). The data of this study were utterances produced by Mr. Arifin. This study revealed that there are seven  characteristics of language production of Broca aphasic encountered by Mr. Arifin. Those are the output rate is low, the utterances have articulation disorder, are typically short, have  fluency disorder, have disruption of normal intonational patterns,  often omits  the formation of affixes and function words, and mostly concern in content words. The writer found that the subject found difficulties in producing clear articulation, getting fluency disorder, and producing short utterances as the major characteristics encountered by Mr. Arifin. In this study, the writer concluded that Mr. Arifin cannot produce language as fluent as other people since he encounters seven characteristics  of Broca aphasia.  Producing language will give him hard situation and  trigger  language production disorder during speech. However, the result of this study cannot be generalized to other Broca aphasia cases.   The last, the writer suggests  the readers to be aware of the characteristics of Broca aphasia by knowing the  characteristics  of a Broca aphasic. Next, the writer suggests to the next  researcher who wants to analyze  the same field to compare the characteristics of language production disorder of a Broca aphasic with other aphasia. It  is to enhance and enrich the study about language disorder, especially aphasia that is still limited in number in Indonesia
GAMBARAN MAID CAFÉ DALAM ANIME KAICHOU WA MAID-SAMA! KARYA SAKURAI HIROAKI DENGAN PENDEKATAN POP CULTURE

Maid cafes are not only popular in Japan, but the popularity also venturing abroad such as America, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore.  Not only popular in real life, in  the animation  film  , maid café was so popular  too.  Anime  is the Japanese term for animation with various types  of stories.  Anime  that will be used in this  study  is  Kaichou  Wa Maid-sama!  by Director Hiroaki Sakurai. This  study  uses   pop culture approach to  the service, cosplay, and events aspects at the maid café. This aspect is used to determine the reason for the Maid Latte’s café  is so popular in the  anime Kaichou wa Maid-sama!.  The results of this  research indicate the service, cosplay, and events aspects that make the Maid Latte become popular. Maid Latte is not only favored by the otaku, but also loved by the ordinary people In addition,  recommended  to use the same anime  for  further  reseach, but used the concept of gambaru  to find out   the never give up attitude of Japanese society that pictured through the main female character.  Keywords : Maid Cafe, Pop Culture, Kaichou Wa Maid-sama
THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN MEN AND WOMEN LANGUAGE STYLES IN WRITING TWITTER UPDATES

The language which is used by people has so many differences. The differences itself are associated with men and women which belong to gender. If there are differences in spoken language, written language also has differences among men and women especially in social networking site as it is connecting people all around the world through internet services. In this study, the writer is interested in investigating the differences of language style and different purposes in language use among men and women on twitter updates and also the purposesbehind it. The research problems of the study are (1) what kinds of language styles that are mostly used by men and women in writing twitter updates (2) what are the purposes of using certain language styles in writing twitter updates used by men and women on twitter.This study used qualitative approach. The data were the twitter updates written by men and women users on twitter. In analyzing the data, the writer used theories by Adelaide Haas (1979) and A. Mullac (2001). There were eight twitterusers consisting of four men and four women.The twitter updates of men and women users were mostly talking about the same language contexts: 1) Form: directive, expressive, the use of emoticons,slang and obscene words, and hyperbolic words, 2) Topic: life-style, life’s trouble, human relation, and social life, 3) Content: positive and negative valuejudgment, 4) Use: assertiveness, argument, command, and request. However, their types and their aspects are found different. Men and women have different words choice. Men language form is found harsher while women language form is weaker and more polite. It means that, men and women still have their ownlanguage style because of the different types and aspects. In the communication purposes, the analysis shows that both men and women users on twitter mostly communicate or write twitter update to express feeling and opinion rather than the other communication purposes such as report fact, solving problem, and develop and maintain rapport.In short, the writer finds the language style and communication purposesbetween men and women twitter updates. The present writer suggests the futurewriters to find men and women differences in language style from literary workssuch as novel, short story, or next writers can examine other twitter feature such as twitter mention or also analyze the differences between men and women inconversation like in the movie or debate show on television. It is also suggestedfor the future writers to use another other theories beside Haas theory to analyze the phenomenon in sociolinguistic area especially in language and gender
