    PENINGKATAN KETERAMPILAN MENULIS PANTUN DENGAN TEKNIK THINK PAIR SHARE MELALUI KARTU LIPAT BERGAMBAR PADA SISWA KELAS VII D SMPN 13 MALANG

    Keterampilan menulis pantun merupakan salah satu materi pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia dijenjang SMP. Dalam kompetensi keterampilan menulis pantun, kemampuan siswa kelas VIID masih belum optimal. Rendahnya keterampilan siswa disebabkan karena beberapa faktor, diantaranya kurangnya minat siswa dalam menulis dan kurangnya teknik serta kurangnya media pembelajaran yang menarik untuk siswa belajar menulis. Menulis merupakan salahsatu keterampilan berbahasa tertinggi yang berguna untuk mengekspresikan pikiran ke dalambentuk tulisan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menulis pantun pada aspek kelengkapan struktur dan ketepatan kaidah dengan menggunakan teknik ThinkPair Share melalui kartu lipat bergambar pada siswa kelas VII D SMPN 13 Malang. Sumber data adalah siswa kelas VII D SMPN 13 Malang tahun ajaran 2016/ 2017 dengan jumlah 33 siswa. Penelitian ini adalah  jenis PTK dengan menggunakan model Kemmis dan Mc Taggart yang meliputi: perencanaan, tindakan, pengamatan dan refleksi dengan menggunakan data kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Analisis data dilakukan dengan melakukan analisis peningkatan proses pembelajaran melalui observasi guru dan siswa, serta analisis peningkatan hasil pembelajaran keterampilan menulis pantun. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proses peningkatan keterampilan menulis pantun mengalami peningkatan. Penerapan teknik ThinkPair Share melalui kartu lipat bergambar dapat meningkatkan nilai siswa dalam menulisPantun. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari nilai rata-rata siswa setelah menulis pantun berdasarkan struktur dengan nilai 88,37 pada siklus 1 dan meningkat menjadi kategori sangat baik (93,43)pada siklus II. Di samping itu, peningkatan terjadi pada aspek ketepatan kaidah dengan nilai59,34 pada siklus 1 dan menjadi kategori baik (82,52) pada siklus II. Hasil observasi kegiatanguru pada siklus I mencapai 75,6% dan meningkat menjadi 87,5% pada siklus II. Sedangkan pada hasil observasi kegiatan siswa terjadi peningkatan sebesar 80% pada siklus I menjadi 84,1% pada siklus II.   Di samping itu, terjadi peningkatan persentase siswa yang lulus di atas KKM pada siklus I meningkat mencapai 66.66% pada siklus II dan 90,90% pada siklus II dengan kategori sangat baik, yaitu siswa sudah mampu menulis pantun berdasarkan kelengkapan struktur dan ketepatan kaidah.Kata Kunci : menulis, pantun, Think Pair Share, kartu lipat bergamba

    PELESAPAN SUBJEK DAN OBJEK TINJAUAN MAKNA PREDIKAT DALAM DRAMA HUNGRY! KARYA MOTOHASHI KEITA

    Kata Kunci: Pelesapan, Objek, Subjek, Batasan Berdasarkan Makna Predikat. Dalam kehidupan bermasyarakat, bahasa digunakan untuk berkomunikasi dengan orang lain. Seperti halnya bahasa lain di dunia, bahasa Jepang juga memiliki keunikannya sendiri. Salah satu keunikan tersebut adalah pelesapan. Pelesapan yang banyak dilakukan adalah melesapkan subjek dan objek dalam kalimat percakapan. Sebagai contoh, kalimat percakapan yang banyak mengalami pelesapan subjek dan objek dapat dilihat dalam drama Hungry!.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pelesapan subjek dan objek yang terjadi pada masyarakat Jepang. Pembahasan mengenai pelesapan subjek dan objek termasuk dalam kajian semantik, yaitu cabang linguistik yang mengkaji makna kata. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori Nariyama tentang pelesapan subjek dan objek dilihat dari batasan berdasarkan makna predikat.Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Data yang dianalisis berupa kalimat percakapan dalam drama Hungry! yang telah mengalami pelesapan subjek dan objek.Dari hasil penelitian ditemukan 28 data pelesapan subjek, antara lain: kata ganti orang (pertama dan kedua), dan kata benda.     ELIPSIS PARTIKEL (JOSHI) DALAM BAHASA JEPANG PADA DIALOG FILM BOKURA GA ITA PART I KARYA TAKAHIRU MIKI

    Kata kunci: Elipsis, Joshi, Kakujoshi, Partikel, SintaksisDalam percakapan sehari-hari, terdapat fenomena bahasa yang disebut elipsis. Elipsis merupakan suatu penghilangan unsur kalimat yang dapat dengan mudah ditafsirkan sendiri oleh lawan bicara. Hal ini, selain untuk menghindari pembicaraan yang terkesan berbelit-belit, juga untuk menghargai dan memberi ruang bagi lawan bicara untuk menyimpulkan sendiri makna ujaran. Dalam bahasa Jepang, elemen yang terelipsis tidak terbatas pada subyek, obyek atau frase, namun juga partikel (joshi). Dalam penelitian ini, penulis menjawab dua rumusan masalah, yaitu: (1) Elipsis partikel apa sajakah yang terdapat dalam dialog film Bokura Ga Ita Part I karya Takahiru Miki. (2) Bagaimana proses terjadinya elipsis partikel dalam dialog film Bokura Ga Ita Part I karya Takahiru Miki.Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif yang menggunakan metode simak. Data diperoleh dari 102 kalimat dialog dalam film Bokura Ga Ita Part I karya Takahiru Miki yang mengalami elipsis partikel. Penelitian ini mengkaji elipsis partikel dari segi sintaksis sehingga melibatkan pola kalimat beserta unsur-unsurnya. Analisis elipsis partikel dilakukan berdasarkan teori pola kalimat dasar bahasa Jepang menurut Sutedi (2011) dan Iori et al (2000) untuk menemukan indikasi elipsis partikel. Kemudian, untuk menentukan jenis elipsis partikel, analisis dilanjutkan dengan teori elipsis partikel oleh Tsutsui (1984) dan Maruyama (1996).Hasil penelitian ditemukan 119 elipsis partikel dari 102 kalimat dialog yang terdiri dari 37 elipsis partikel wa, 26 elipsis partikel ga, 13 elipsis partikel ni, dan 43 elipsis partikel wo. Elipsis partikel wa pada umumnya diindikasikan oleh letaknya yang berada di awal kalimat dan tidak diikuti langsung oleh verba, sedangkan elipsis partikel ga diindikasikan oleh letaknya yang berkaitan langsung dengan predikat. Elipsis partikel ni diindikasikan oleh fungsinya sebagai penanda tempat dan waktu, sedangkan elipsis partikel wo diindikasikan oleh fungsinya sebagai penanda obyek verba transitif.Hasil dari penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa indikasi elipsis partikel dapat diketahui dari letak elemen kosong, pola kalimat yang mengalami elipsis partikel, fungsi parikel dan verba yang digunakan dalam kalimat tersebut

    POWER RELATION DEPICTED IN JEANETTE WINTERSON’S ORANGES ARE NOT THE ONLY FRUIT

Power is not always relatedwith government institution but also it comes from small unit like a family. Power holds by parents in a family can give a major impact to their children. Parents teach their children based on their values and norms they hold dear. That is why, sometimes the children is also influenced by their parents’ belief. Power also comes from society and religion institution. Society shapes the “normal†norm while religion institution which is considered as the highly oppressive institution, shapes which one is wrong and which one is right. In addition, this study observes how power relation is depicted in Oranges are not The Only Fruit especially in mother and daughter relationship in which the mother is attached to the religion power. Sociological approach is used in this study since it deals with human social relationships and institutions. It helps to discover how society at that time views one of the themes of this novel which is LGBT and how religion institution’s power reacts about it. This approach leads to the use of power relation theory to analyse how power can influence how someone view certain conditions and it can give such a major impacts to their life. The last, to discover how power relation is depicted in this novel, the concept of power and discourse purposed by Michele Foucault is used.The result of this research shows that power relations work inside from three sources.The first one is family, second one is society, and the last is religion institution which is the church. Power in this novel is also transferred by Jeanette’s mother to her daughter through discourse based on her view and belief. Jeanette’s mother’s attempt to prepare her daughter to become a missionary is failed since Jeanette resists her power about heterosexuality norm and she wants to stay true with her identity as a homosexual, no matter how strong the rejection comes from the church and society.The following researchers are suggested to analyze what is an orange represents from. Orange plays significant role in Jeanette’s life since her mother does not recognize any other fruits. Besides this suggestion, the following researchers can analyze on why religion plays important role in shaping society’s view

Pawa hara adalah tindakan yang berlatar belakang kekuatan kekuasaaan di luar lingkup yang tepat dari bisnis, dimana melakukan perilaku yang melanggar kepribadian dan martabat secara berkelanjutan, dengan memperburuk lingkungan kerja pekerja.Skripsi ini menggunakan teori sosiologi sastra Ian Watt yaitu sastra sebagai cerminan masyarakat. Isi dari sosiologi sastra sendiri bertujuan untuk membahas masalah yang tersirat di dalam karya sastra dan menghubungkan sastra dengan masalah sosial yang terkait. Sumber data primer penelitian ini adalah drama. Penulis menggunakan teori mise en scene dan sinematografi untuk menganalis fenomena pawa hara pada Tsunoda Miki dalam drama Nakanai to Kimeta Hi. Selain itu penulis juga menggunakan teori penokohan.Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 5 bentuk tindak pawa hara yang terjadi pada tokoh Tsunoda Miki. Pertama adalah tindak pawa hara verbal. Kedua, tindak pawa hara mental. Ketiga, tindak pawa hara fisik. Ke empat, tindak pawa hara berbentuk tuntutan yang berlebihan. Dan kelima adalah tindak pawa hara berbentuk tuntutan yang kurang. Dari penelitian ini ditemukan juga motif dari tindak pawa hara terhadap Tsunoda Miki. Pertama adalah kurangnya kesadaran akan pelecehan pada diri pelaku, kurangnya hubungan saling percaya, dan kurangnya kesadaran menghormati Hak Asasi Manusia. Selanjutnya, adanya persaingan di lingkungan kerja dan percintaan. Dan terakhir kurangnya toleransi terhadap kesalahan.Penulis menyarankan penelitian selanjutnya dapat menggunakan drama Nakanai to Kimeta Hi dengan pendekatan psikologi sastra untuk menganalis dampak tindak pawa hara terhadap Tsunoda Miki

    PERSUASIVE LANGUAGE FEATURES ON MULTIMODAL TEXT OF INDONESIAN VERSION OF ORIFLAME PERFUME CATALOGUE OF JULY 2014 EDITION

Therefore, advertiser should consider attracting images and persuasive texts. The writer conducts a study concerning on some theories of persuasive language features proposed by Lakoff (1982) about linguistic novelty, Geis (1982) about linguistic techniques, and Searle (1999) about speech acts. The problem of the study is what the features of persuasive language related to multimodal texts on Indonesian version of Oriflame perfume catalogue of July 2014 edition are.This study used qualitative approach in relation to the use of phenomenon descriprion. It is included into document analysis because it is applied in written advertisements by analyzing the texts.The present study reveals that within four multimodal advertisements, there are ten findings about absence of subjects and verbal auxiliaries, eight uses of semantic anomaly, and two uses of pragmatic novelty, seven uses of imperative structures, one term of announcing, one rhetorical question, one elliptical comparative, one finding of constituting product name, seven assertives, eight directives, one expressive, and one declarative. It is shown that all of advertisements employ all theories of persuasive language features. It indicated that advertiser considers the strategy and effectiveness of persuasive language features in order to obtain act of the reader to purchase a particular product.The writer suggests for the next researchers who will conduct a study about persuasive language feature to employ the other aspects in analyzing the text, like stylistic analysis, word formation process, and language functions

    VOWEL SOUNDS RECOGNITION OF SEVENTH SEMESTER STUDENTS AT STUDY PROGRAM OF ENGLISH UNIVERSITAS BRAWIJAYA USING PHONEMIC RESTORATION EFFECT (PRE) TEST

    Keywords: Phonemic Restoration Effect (PRE), top-down processing, bottom-upprocessing, listening strategy Listening skill is one of four main aspects in learning foreign language. Nowadays, university or work entrance exams, exit exams, and other examinations often include listening aspect as an important part of the exams to measure applicant’s foreign language proficiency. In this study, there are two problems of study, they are: (1) What type of listening strategy is mostly used by the 7th semester students of Study Program of English in Faculty of Cultural Studies Universitas Brawijaya in recognizing the vowel sounds and (2) What are the main factors causing difficulty for 7th semester students of Study Program of English in Faculty of Cultural Studies Universitas Brawijaya in recognizing the vowel sounds.The research belongs to qualitative research. The data are obtained through a Phonemic Restoration Effect (PRE) test and some interviews of 28 seventh semester students of Study Program of English. The data are analyzed from combination between the participants’ test answers and interview transcription.The study reveals that 14 from 28 seventh semester Study Program of English students tend to use top-down processing in doing listening test. However, the most effective strategy for the participants in listening is using both top-down and bottom-up processing at the same time. This study also reveals that the most factor causing difficulty for participants while they are doing listening test is because they still have low level of concentration by reaching 32.14% of students who face that factor.The writer suggests the next researcher to be more cautious in developing the questions of the test. The writer also suggests the students to pay more attention in listening matters and some aspects related to listening proficiency. For instance, they should enrich the vocabulary and doing focus training to practice their ability in concentrating

    REFUSAL STRATEGIES USED BY MALE AND FEMALE STUDENTS OF ENGLISH LITERATURE IN CAMPUS SETTING OF UNIVERSITAS BRAWIJAYA

    Keywords: refusal, refusal strategy, gender, campus setting. This study aims to find out refusal strategies used by male and female students of English Literature, Universitas Brawijaya. There are two problems of the study: (1) what the types of refusal strategies used by male and female students of English Literature in campus setting of Universitas Brawijaya are, and (2) what possible factors that influence the differences of the use of refusal strategies by male and female students of English Literature in campus setting of Universitas Brawijaya are.This study used qualitative approach since the data were collected in the form of words. The design of this study was content analysis since it analyzed utterances produced by male and female students. Ten 7th semester students that consist of five males and five females were chosen based on certain criteria in which they are students majoring in linguistic that have done Pragmatics course in the fifth semester and come from different classes. The data were collected through a written Discourse Completing Task (DCT). The data were analyzed by classifying the types of refusal utterances produced by both male and female students based on FelixBrasdefer’s(2008) and using Wardhaugh’s (2006) theory to analyze the possible factors thatinfluence the differences in the use of refusal strategies by males and females.This study found that male and female students used different refusal strategies. All males tend to use reason/explanation strategy as many as 38 times whereas all females mostly used regret/apology strategy for 36 times toward their friends. The possible factors that influence the differences of the use of refusal strategies that male students use categorical statements to refuse some requests, offers, invitations and suggestion toward their friends. Meanwhile female students tend to involve their feeling and tended to maintain solidarity toward their friends by expressing their regret in refusing requests, offers, invitations and suggestion.The writer suggests that next researchers investigate refusal strategies from some different aspects such as age and power relation in using Bahasa Indonesia. They can also use different object, theory and method for their researches

    ANALYSIS OF VISUAL IMAGE OF SAMSUNG GALAXY S4 ADVERTISEMENTS: A METAFUNCTIONAL APPROACH

As one of the communicative social media, frequently the society interpret the message differently with the one that the advertiser wants. Therefore, this study is conducted to help the recipient in finding the message that the advertisers try to deliver. There are two objectives in this study, (1) to identify the meaning of image and verbal text of Samsung Galaxy S4 advertisements, and (2) to find out the relation of the image and verbal text in constructing the meaning of Samsung Galaxy S4 advertisements.This study uses qualitative approach because it aims to analyze the meaning of image and verbal text in the advertisements. The writer applies metafunction theory to find the meaning of image and verbal text and also the relation of image and verbal text in constructing the meaning of the Samsung Galaxy S4 advertisements.By applying metafunction theory the writer finds the meaning of the advertisements by elaborating the three functions; Ideational function, interpersonal function, textual function. The result of this study shows that all the elements contain image and verbal text in advertisement are to support the product itself. Besides, it is also considered as the invitation for curiosity of consumer.The writer suggests the next researcher to use the different theory such as semiotics theory, or use different kind of advertisement such as video advertisements. The writer also suggests the advertiser to consider the salience of the product since it will emphasize the product itself

    LANGUAGE STYLE USED IN THE SLOGANS OF INDONESIAN POLITICAL PARTIES 2014 CAMPAIGN ADVERTISEMENTS

In order to use language in spoken or written communication, people rather to have their own style. In this study, the writer is interested in investigating the types of language style used in the slogans of Indonesian political parties 2014 campaign advertisements based on the diction, based on the sentence structure and also the social factors. The research problems of the study are : (1) what types of language style are used in the slogan of Indonesian political parties 2014 campaign advertisements based on the diction (2) what types of language style are used in the slogan of Indonesian political parties 2014 campaign advertisements based on the sentence structure (3) what the social factors influence the types of language style used in the slogan of Indonesian political parties 2014 campaign advertisements.This study used qualitative approach. The data were the slogan of Indonesian political parties campaign advertisements. In analyzing t he data, the writer used theories by Keraf (2009), Chaer (2006) and Holmes (2001). There were five Indonesian political parties in this study.The types of language style based on diction that mostly found in the slogans of Indonesian Political Parties campaign advertisement is formal style, followed by informal style and the last is spoken style. While, the types of language style based on sentence structure that mostly found is parallelism style, followed by repetition style and the last style is climax. Regarding the social factors that influence the types of language style used in the slogan, the writer found that function factor is the most dominant factor that influence the slogan. Then the second factor is participants with seven slogans and the third factor is topic and the last factor that influence is setting.In short, the writer finds the type of language style used in the slogan of campaign advertisements based on its diction and sentence structure and also the social factors that influence it. The writer suggests that the future writer to find the types of language style in the spoken data so they can analyzed the types of language style based on the tone or meaning. It is also suggested for the future writers to analyze to use another theories beside Keraf and Holmes theory to analyze the language styl
