IMPLIKATUR PERCAKAPAN DALAM SERIAL DRAMA GREAT TEACHER ONIZUKA 2012 EPISODE 1

Program Studi Sastra Jepang, Universitas Brawijaya Malang. Pembimbing : (1) Ismatul Khasanah (2) Ismi Prihandari  Kata Kunci:  Prinsip Kerja Sama, Prinsip Kesantunan, Implikatur  Percakapan, Maksim.  Bahasa sebagai alat komunikasi dalam kehidupan sehari-hari harus dipahami oleh pembicara dan lawan bicara.  Dalam komunikasi tidak hanya pemahaman makna tersurat, namun  pemahaman makna tersirat  juga diperlukan. Penyebab terjadinya implikatur  percakapan adalah  karena pelanggaran prinsip kerja sama dan prinsip kesantunan. Dalam bahasa Jepang implikatur percakapan juga banyak ditemukan,  untuk itu penulis meneliti implikatur percakapan dalam serial drama Jepang yang berjudul Great Teacher Onizuka 2012. Tujuan  penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui implikatur  percakapan  dan bentuk pelanggaran  yang terdapat dalam serial drama  Great Teacher Onizuka 2012 episode 1. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Kesimpulan  hasil penelitian  yaitu implikatur percakapan yang timbul adalah ungkapan rasa jengkel, rasa sesal, rasa malu, rasa takut, rasa terkejut, rasa marah, rasa senang, mengkritik, menasehati, menyindir, mengeluh, memohon, memerintah, menolak permintaan, meminta ijin, menjatuhkan mental, mengancam, menjuluki,  membuat kesepakatan.  Sedangkan  bentuk pelanggaran yang terjadi adalah pelanggaran prinsip kerja sama yaitu:  2  maksim  kuantitas, 2 maksim kualitas,  9 maksim relevansi, 3 maksim pelaksanaan. Pelanggaran prinsip kesantunan yaitu:  2  maksim kerendahan hati, 3 maksim pujian, 7 maksim kesepakatan, 4 maksim kedermawanan, 3 maksim kearifan, dan 3 maksim simpati
SUPERHERO CHARACTERISTIC COMPARISON BETWEEN 1938 SUPERMAN AND 21ST CENTURY IRON MAN AS A REFLECTION OF THE AMERICAN ERA

Andhy Nurmansyah (II) Nurul Laili.  Keywords: American Superhero, Popular Culture, Entertainment, American Society.   Superheroes are wellknown throughout the world, they appear in various medias to amuse the people as their role as entertainment. Most of  superheroes today come  from America, and superhero has become one of the representatives of American society. American superheroes have evolved through time and era along with the American society itself. Since its first appearance, marked with the born of  The Superman, at the times of World War II, American superheroes have managed to surive and merged together with the society and become one of its popular cultures.  This research is studying how American superhero develops his characteristics in its attempt to amuse the people reflected on how the social condition  at that time of consumption. The focus of this research is to compare the  characteristics of  the first American superhero stories with Amercian superhero stories today to find how the American society shaped their superhero stories. The first superhero is represented by The 1938 Superman while the present superhero is represented by The Iron Man as the most controvercial superhero today.  The result of this research is  expressing how the society is reflected within their superhero stories. The 1938 Superman amused his people with hilarious comical and mostly unrealistic. Superman raises the wartime issues and street criminals in his early stories to answer the call of people at that time. While in the other hand, The Iron Man is here to answer the more realistic and critical audience’s demands. Iron Man today appears with more human characteristics  with his  fragility and imperfectness which made him closer to his people.  The difference between these two superheroes has showed that superheroes are developing together with the society, superheroes are there to answer the people’s need of entertainment. Thus it can be concluded that American superhero stories are the reflection of American society itself
ANALYSIS OF ENGLISH LEARNING STRATEGIES USED BY THE DEAF STUDENTS IN SLB-B KARYA MULIA SURABAYA : A CASE STUDY

So now in Indonesia, English is  given to almost all students, including students with special needs  is also commonly called disables. However, the deaf students still have difficulty in applying English. This occurs because English is a foreign language in Indonesia. Another cause of difficulty in learning English is about students’ habit. Facing that phenomena, the language learning strategies are needed. This study only  focuses on the learning strategies performed by the deaf student when learning English. The approach used is qualitative study. This study was a case study. The respondents of this study were two students, male and female.  The  writer conducted the interview with the respondents and teacher. The writer collected the data by selecting deaf student attending class 2, recording  and conducting interviews, identifying the learning strategies used by the student, and classifying the learning strategies used by the student. The data analysis was conducted by analyzing the results of the interview, comparing the results of interview with students' English grades for learning  and drawing conclusion based on the problems of study and the result of data analysis. The result of this study shows that memory strategies are the most strategy used  by respondents whereas affective strategies are the  least strategy  used.  In addition to using these strategies, the support from teachers  and parents  is very important to help them learn a new language. The writer suggests for the students to  combine  learning strategies with each other. The writer also suggests the teacher to add other teaching  innovations that  can  help  students  learning  English lessons. The last suggestion  is  for the future researchers to do a closer and spacious study with deaf students
WESTERN ETHNOCENTRISM IN IP MAN 2: LEGEND OF THE GRANDMASTER MOVIE
Every human being is derived from certain ethnic group. They grow up absorbing valuesand norms of that ethnic group. Every ethnic group usually has certain characteristics which distinguish one ethnic group to other ethnic groups. A group of people who merges in an areausually has the same characteristics such as physical appearance, behavior and perspective inseeing life. Therefore, ethnic group of someone can be recognized through those characteristics. Human being generally assumes their own ethnic group is better than other ethnic groups. Ithappens because they are proud of their ethnic group and tend to humiliate other ethnic groups.In Ip Man 2: Legend of the Grandmaster, the story describes ethnocentric attitudes of the Britons as the Western ethnic group toward Chinese ethnic group in colonialism periods inChina. The Western ethnic group underestimates Chinese ethnic group and whatever the Chinesehas done seems to be wrong. The Westerners use their own standards value to judge Chineseethnic group. Moreover, the Western ethnic group values are opposite from Chinese ethnicgroup.The ignorance of the West to accept Chinese culture triggers ethnocentric attitude of British ethnic group. They refuse to see the Chinese culture, tradition and belief from theChinese way of thinking. They use their standard which is different from Chinese ethnic group.Ethnocentric attitude of Western ethnic group causes negative stereotype and discriminationtoward Chinese ethnic group. The movie Ip Man 2: Legend of the Grandmaster contains manythemes that could be applied to conduct a research such as colonialism, unity and solidarity, andoriental despotism. THE REGIONAL DIALECT CHANGE OF MAGETAN STUDENTS IN UNIVERSITAS BRAWIJAYA
Keywords: interference, dialect, lexical Language is important for human to deliver message and communicate insociety. There are hundreds languages in this world, one of them is Javanese.Javanese is a language with around 75.5 million users over the world. Those users spread over East Java, Central Java, Banten, Lampung, Riau, and included in some countries around the world such as Suriname, New Caledonia, Dutch, and west coast of Johor. Because of the big users of Javanese language, it shows many variations called dialect. There are three main dialects of Javanese, there are standard Javanese dialect, East Javanese dialect and Banyumas dialect. This study answers the following research problem. First, what are the lexical interferences of Magetan students in Malang, and the second what are the causes of dialect change by Magetan students in Malang.This study use qualitative approach. The data are utterances from conversation with the subject. The subjects of this study are Magetan students that studying in Brawijaya University. There are total three participants in this study. In analyzing the data, the writer uses Weinreich’s (1979) theory of lexicalinterference and individual factors of interference.The results of this study reveal that there are six lexical interferences of Magetan students in Malang. Those lexicons are mari, awakmu, kon, ndek, yo opo and arek. The factors of interference show there are different levels for each subject to accept lexical interference. This study also shows that interfered vocabulary is not always use by the subject.In conclusion, this study show there are lexical interference of Magetan students in Universitas Brawijaya and each subject has different level of interference. Finally after finishing this study, the writer hopes that there will be more students in Faculty of Cultural Studies use interference as focus of the study
THE NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF ENVIRONMENTAL DEGRADATION IN WALL-E MOVIE
Keywords: ecocriticism, environment, environmental degradation.Ecocriticism is a call to texts to connect to the issues of today’s environmental crisis. This environmental crisis or environmental degradation is caused by imbalance between living things and environment, so that if one of living things are destroyed, then other living things are exactly influenced. Then, as it can be seen that there are many negative effects of environmental degradation which appear in human life. In this study, the researcher analyzes what the negativeeffects of environmental degradation are, as portrayed in Wall-E movie.This research uses qualitative research because it concerns with the result related to human and their environment. So, by using qualitative design, the writer needs to read movie script of Wall-E movie to be analyzed. The study uses ecocriticism to help the writer understand more about the relationship between a product of popular culture and environment.The result of the study shows that there are many piles of trash which are from human activities that cover the earth. The trash causes many negative effects like land pollution, air pollution, water pollution, and so on, so that the earth does not anymore fit for occupancy. The trash which covers the earth causes many negative effects so that human have to move to a spacecraft, Axiom. Human do the activities which are handled by computer. To develop the earth, the Axiom launches project to search for the plant which remains on the earth.For the next researchers, the writer expects the use of environment theme as the object of the study. Furthermore, the next researchers can provide new perspectives in analyzing the issue. The writer also suggests the use of ecocriticism as an approach which can be applied in the other genres of literary works and products of popular culture to enrich the study of human and environment, for example a movie entitled Furry Vengeance which tells about how a clever racoon against human to save its habitat, nature, that has been destructed by human
PENGGUNAAN NINSHOU DAIMESHI OLEH TOKOH PRIA DALAM SERIAL ANIME NURARIHYON NO MAGO EPISODE 6-10
Kata Kunci : masyarakat, ninshou daimeishi, tokoh pria, anime.Penggunaan Bahasa Jepang dalam ragam lisan bisa didasari oleh hubungan bermasyarakat masyarakat Jepang yaitu antara lain hubungan pria dan wanita, hubungan uchi dan soto serta hubungan vertikal dan horizontal. Ninshou daimeishi adalah kata-kata yang menyatakan persona. Ninshou daimeishi terdiri dari tiga jenis, yaitu jishou, taishou dan tashou. Rumusan masalah dari penelitian ini yaitu, (1) Ninshou daimeshi apa saja yang digunakan oleh tokoh pria dalam serial anime Nurarihyon no Mago episode 6-10, (2) Bagaimana penggunaan ninshou daimeishi yang digunakan oleh tokoh pria dalam serial anime Nurarihyon no Mago episode 6-10 dilihat dari konsep masyarakat Jepang?Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Adapun teknik yang digunakan adalah teknik simak yang menghasilkan data sebanyak 170 kalimat.Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, ninshou daimeishi yang ditemukan adalah jenis jishou sebanyak 96 kalimat, taishou 54 kalimat, dan tashou 20 kalimat. Adapun fungsi penggunaannya bermacam-macam, contohnya sebagai bentuk penghormatan atau merendahkan, menyatakan penegasan, menunjukkan kesan akrab, maskulin, kasar, tidak sopan, atau sombong atau menyatakan kekesalan.Penulis beharap agar penelitian selanjutnya mengenai ninshou daimeishi menggunakan objek bahasa lisan langsung dari native karena penggunaan ninshoudaimeishi yang beragam
POLITENESS STRATEGIES IN TONY ABBOT’S SPEECH CONCERNING AUSTRALIA-INDONESIA TAPPING ISSUE
Key Words: Politeness, Face Threatening Acts (FTA), Politeness Strategies, Australiatapping Indonesia issue, Political Speech, Tony Abbott’s Speech, House of Representatives Politeness as one of linguistic phenomena always exists when people communicate with each other. We can find politeness not only in face to faceconversation, but also in a speech. There are many types of speech, one of the types is political speech. This study analyzed political speech from Australia’s Prime MinisterTony Abbot and it discussed politeness strategies in Tony Abbot’s speech concerningAustralia-Indonesia tapping issue. There two problems to be solved in this study: (1)what face is being threatened in Tony Abbott’s Speech concerning Australia-IndonesiaTapping Issue and (2) what are the politeness strategies in Tony Abbott’s Speech concerning Australia-Indonesia Tapping Issue. This study applied qualitative approach in which the data were collected in the form of words or sentences. This study used document analysis in analyzing thepoliteness strategies in Tony Abbott’s Speech concerning Australia-Indonesia Tapping Issue.This study revealed that the positive face and the negative face are threatened.The positive face of the speaker and the positive face of the hearer are threatened. Meanwhile for the negative face, only the negative face of the hearer is threatened. For politeness strategies, there are four politeness strategies that were found in this study,those are bald on record, positive politeness strategies, negative politeness strategies andoff record. Tony Abbott’s in his speech concerning Australia-Indonesia tapping issuemostly threatened positive face of the hearer and frequently used positive politenessstrategies because he wants to the hearer agree and corroborate his opinion thatAustralia intelligence is doing tapping to protect the country, advance national interest and help the allies. In other words, it is a kind of act of caring for what Australiaintelligence already did. In this study, Tony Abbott also threatened negative face usingpositive politeness strategies. It means that there is an effort of teasing the hearer ortoward the hearer’s attitude.For the next researchers, the writer suggests that the next researcher should use the other theory which is different from this study to enrich the analysis in the further research. Also, the next researcher can use the other objects in analyzing politeness strategies and FTA
MYTHOLOGICAL CHARACTERS REPRESENTING THE UNITED STATES ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES IN RICK RIORDAN’S PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS SERIES
Keywords: Greek Mythology, mythological character, environmental issues, AmericaMyth is a story that is produced in ancient time and represented the philosophy of life. Myth usually contains some earlier stories to explain natural phenomena that cannot be explained by human at that time. The collections of myth are called mythology. One of the famous mythologies in this world is Greek Mythology and the important part of Greek Mythology is the story of Gods and Goddesses. God or Goddess character is representation of natural life and it is represented interestingly in the novel written by Rick Riordan entitled PercyJackson and the Olympians Series. The representation of nature, especially which is related to environmental issues, becomes an interesting topic in in this novel. Due to this, understanding further about representation of environmental issues in America through the existence of mythical characters in this novel is significant to be done.Qualitative research is used in this research because it concerns with the description of condition of nature in America nowadays. Therefore, qualitative design is needed. Mythological study is used to help the researcher understands more about mythological characters and theirs functions within the realm of preserving natural sources. Ecocriticism is also used to analyze the environmental degradation which happens in America as portrayed in Riordan’s novels.The result of the study shows that some mythological characters symbolizeenvironmental issues in America, particularly about the degradation condition and the effort of make them better. They are Poseidon, Pan, and Satyrs. Poseidon is the a mythical character representing of water condition. The function of Poseidon here is to repair the condition of polluted water in America. Pan is the mythical character representing wild area or forest. His condition pictures the decreasing certain number of forest area in America. And the last character is Satyr who represents the environmentalist movement in America.The researcher suggests the next researchers who want to conduct similar research to have a better knowledge in analyzing this topic and look for other interesting mythical characters with different point of view. Furthermore, the next researchers can investigate also the psychological condition of mythical figures using psychological theories, since the existence of mythical characters imply psychological condition undergone by human beings
CORALINE’S DREAM REPRESENTED IN CORALINE MOVIE BASED ON CARL JUNG’S DREAM THEORY
Keywords: conscious, dream, collective unconscious, archetype, individuationDream is a daily phenomenon which is experienced by human being. Coraline movie is adapted from a novel with the same title. It tells about a child named Coraline who feels neglected by her mother and she reveals the repressed feeling in her dream.Carl Jung’s dream theory is applied in Coraline movie to points out the dream through the character’s individual psyche. In this case, dream theory is used to identify the imbalance both unconscious and conscious of the people’s psyche which express and appear on the dream. Dream also expresses both the collective unconscious and archetypes. The research employs psychological approach in order to serve more information focused on the subject being studied. This approach directs the discussion to use psychology theory to analyze and interpret the data in the Coraline movie that is Coraline’s dream.Coraline’s unconscious that is expressed in a dream depicts of an angel-parents who always care and give full attention to her. Mother archetype also appears in a dream that represents as a witch. The result of the study shows about the unconscious that was expressed in Coraline’s dream is indicated a solution through a symbol. Coraline realizes and approves that life with the parents in real world is better and more beautiful than the other mother as in dream.
