WORD FORMATION PROCESSES IN ENTERTAINMENT ARTICLES IN THE JAKARTA POST
Get PDFKeywords: Morphology, Word Formation Process, Entertainment, Jakarta Post.Language is related to word formation processes because it is the process of creating new words and new uses of the old words and also how new words are being formed. This research was about word formation processes in entertainment articles. There are two problems to be solved in this study, namely: (1) what word-formation processes of the words found in Entertainment Article in Jakarta Post; (2) what types of word-formation processes frequently appear in entertainment article in Jakarta Post.The researcher used the theory of Yule (2010) to analyze this research. The researcher took 11 articles of entertainment in Jakarta Post as the data. This research used qualitative research to describe the terms in entertainment articles based on word formation processes. Qualitative research is used to find out the words of word formation processes in the entertainment articles in Jakarta Post. This study reveals that there were derivation is the most frequently types that appears in entertainment articles. The writer found 25 words of derivation, 21 of compounding, 7 words of borrowing, 3 words of acronyms and 1 blending. The research in field of morphology especially word formation process is a beneficial research because it takes an important part of the word formulation in language. The next researcher can try to find out theory based on the different expert. The writer also suggests for the next researchers who are interested in doing further research in this area to conduct the research with more variation in data collection

In this case, the writer isinterested in studying the registers used by Brawijaya Chess Clubs and wordformation processes. There are three problems of the study, namely: (1) What are the register used by Brawijaya Chess Club?(2) What are the meaning of register used by Brawijaya Chess Club?and (3) What are the word formation processes of the register used by Brawijaya Chess Club?This studyused qualitative research which has aims in getting the description about register used by Brawijaya Chess Club.The data of this study was taken in the form of utterance containing of register used by Brawijaya Chess Club.In this study, the writer observed 15 members and 3 national mastershad an interviewed of Brawijaya Chess Club to answer those problems of study.This study found 49 registers used by Brawijaya Chess Club.Based on theanalysis, the writer found out that those 49 registers and found 3 types of wordformation process.Type of word formation found are31borrowing, 1 blending and17 multiple processes. The writer suggests the next researchers who are interested in doing research with the same topicabout register to use other interesting objects in the society. The writer hopes to the further researchers to do similar researches on registers with different tehniques, theories and subjects in order to give a contribution to the study of linguistics and it make the sources will be more various
LANGUAGE STYLE USED BY MARIO TEGUH IN HIS MOTIVATIONAL PICTURES ABOUT LOVE

Language variation or language style is the way of someone in using his language in particular occasions by showing his/her personality and character. In conducting the study, the researcher formulated two problems of study namely: (1) What kinds of language style are used by Mario Teguh in his motivational picture about love seen from its diction, and (2) What kinds of language style are used by Mario Teguh in his motivational picture about love seen from its sentence structure. Based on those problems, the researcher formulates the objectives of this study as follows: (1) to find out the kinds of language style used by Mario Teguh in his motivational picture about love seen from its diction, and (2) to find out the kinds of language style used by Mario Teguh in his motivational picture about love seen from its sentence structure.   This study used qualitative analysis since the data of this study were texts in the motivational picture of Mario Teguh. In conducting this study, the researcher used some tables to categorize the data into language style based on diction and language style based on sentence structure. The main theory used in this study is the language style theory proposed by Keraf (2010), Wales (2001), and Chaer (2006). From 20 motivational pictures analyzed based on diction, the researcher found out that there were eleven texts categorized into formal language style, seven texts categorized into informal language style and two texts categorized into the combination of formal and informal language style. Based on sentence structure, it was found that nine texts were categorized into climax style, four texts categorized into anticlimax style, two texts categorized into parallelism, three texts categorized into antithesis style and five texts categorized into repetition style.Finally, the researcher suggests that the further study about language style be conducted in different ways according to the problems of study, object of the study and theory used in the study. EKSISTENSI TOKOH SHIMURA WATARU DALAM NOVEL GO NEN GO NO LOVE LETTER KARYA MURAKAMI MOMOKO

Demi mencapai transendensi, seseorang membutuhkan individu lain. Dalam novel Go Nen Go No Love Letter digambarkan hubungan antara tokoh Shimura dengan tokoh lainnya yang membawa tokoh Shimura Wataru mencapai eksistensinya. Karena itulah dalamstudi ini penulis akan menjawab rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini yaitu : (1) Bagaimana relasi yang terjalin antara Shimura Wataru dengan istri, sahabat dan anaknya berdasarkan konsep intersubjektivitas Gabriel Marcel (2) Apa bentuk eksistensi tokoh Shimura Wataru dalam pandangan filsafat eksistensialisme Gabriel Marcel.Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan deskripsi analisis secara tekstual yang bertujuan untuk menganalisis relasi yang terjalin dan eksistensi tokoh Shimura Wataru dalam novel Go Nen Go No Love Letter. Hasil studi menunjukkan bahwa relasi yang terjalin antara tokoh Shimura Wataru dengan istri, anak dan sahabatnya merupakan hubungan intersubjektivitas. Relasi yang terjalin ini membawa perubahan dan membawa tokoh Shimura Wataru mencapai eksistensinya. Eksistensi tokoh Shimura Wataru terus hidup walaupun Shimura Wataru telah meninggal dunia.Penulis menyarankan peneliti selanjutnya untuk meneliti kembali dan menggali lebih dalam novel Go Nen Go no Love Letter karya Murakami Momoko ini. Peneliti selanjutnya dapat menganalisa eksistensi tokoh Kondo Nao dengan menggunakan teori filsafat Gabriel Marcel. Peneliti selanjutnya juga dapat menggunakan teori psikologi sastra untuk menganalisa tokoh Kondo Nao
BARTHES’ SEMIOTIC ON THE GIANT COCKROACH IN “THE METAMORPHOSIS†BY FRANZ KAFKA

This research is aimed to know the significations behind the giant cockroach in “The Metamorphosis†by Franz Kafka based on Barthes’ semiotic perspective. In Barthes’ semiotic, the signification does not stop at the signifier and signified meaning but it continues to the meta-language meaning; myth. Then, this signification is called as the second order of signification. Cockroach is signifier and disgusting animal is the signified. In the first order of signification, cockroach denotes a disgusting animal. Inthis case, cockroach is not only viewed as a disgusting animal but beyond that, because Gregor’s transformed into disgusting animal which leads to him to be avoided by his family and society. His family avoids him because he cannot work again. Gregor isolated from the other after the transformation is the second order of signification.This research finds many clues in the novella that Gregor’s transformation symbolizes something else. As cockroach, Gregor dislikes milk and prefers to eat spoiled food means he can survive in in different way. Gregor dislikes what people usually like and Gregor needs what usually people do not need. It means the tolerance is important thing in real life because the difference is a certainty. Gregor sleeps under the chairmeans his father’s pressure for a long time makes him weak. His weakness relates to the sofa or chair that also means power. Indeed, Gregor’s conflict with his father makes him lose his power in his family. This behavior also means that Gregor has closed-personality and feelings, which Gregor always hides under it. Crawling all over the room means that he cannot be stagnant and he entertains himself to forget his nightmare and his suffering for a moment. Then, the impact of the transformation makes Gregor to be isolated from his job, his family, and even from his own thought. Gregor’s death is a way to escape from his strangeness and suffering
TINDAK TUTUR ILOKUSI DALAM KOMIK LOVELY COMPLEX VOLUME 2 KARYA NAKAHARA AYA

Komik dapat mengajak para pembacanya untuk ikut dan merasakan situasi yang disampaikan oleh penulis melalui cerita yang dibuat. Selain itu, bentuk percakapan di dalam komik tidak terlepas dari tindak tutur atau maksud yang hendak disampaikan oleh penulis kepada pembaca, sehingga diperlukan pemahaman makna kalimat dengan melihat konteks dari sebuah tuturan. Dalam penelitian ini, dilakukan penelitian dengan objek komik Lovely Complex volume 2 dengan rumusan masalah, yaitu (1) jenis tindak tutur ilokusi apakah yang terdapat dalam komik Lovely Complex volume 2 dan (2) fungsi tindak tutur ilokusi dalam komik Lovely Complex volume 2. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Hal ini digunakan agar dapat dapat menganalisis jenis tindak tutur ilokusi dan fungsi tindak tutur ilokusi dengan menggunakan teori dasar, dan mendeskripsikan hasil penelitian secara terperinci dan jelas. Adapun data temuan yang digunakan sebanyak 49 data. Dari hasil penelitian ini diketahui bahwa jenis tindak tutur ilokusi berdasarkan deskripsi Searle, yang terdapat dalam komik Lovely Complex volume 2 adalah (1) representatif yaitu menyatakan, mengusulkan, mengemukakan pendapat, dan mengeluh (2) direktif yaitu memesan, memohon, memerintah, memberi nasehat, dan menuntut, (3) ekspresif yaitu mengecam dan menuduh, (4) komisif yaitu menjanjikan, menawarkan, dan (5) deklarasi yaitu melarang. Fungsi tindak tutur ilokusi yang terdapat dalam komik Lovely Complex volume 2 berdasarkan deskripsi Leech adalah (1) kompetitif (competitive) yaitu memerintah, meminta, menuntut, mengemis, (2) menyenangkan (convival) yaitu menawarkan, mengajak, (3) bekerja sama (collaborative) yaitu menyatakan, mengumumkan, mengajarkan, (4) bertentangan (conflictive) yaitu mengancam, menuduh, menyumpahi, memarahi. Penulis menyarankan diadakannya penelitian lanjutan mengenai: (1) penelitian jenis tindak tutur ilokusi yang terbagi dalam kategori tindak tutur ilokusi, (2) penelitian tindak tutur ilokusi dengan menggunakan kajian teori yang lain dan (3) penelitian tindak tutur ilokusi dengan sumber data yang lain
THE CONTROVERSY OF ANNE BOLEYN CHARACTER AS POTRAYED IN THE OTHER BOLEYN GIRL MOVIE

They prove that they can make their own life better without following men’s instruction. Some women also show that they can reach her dream even some people said that is impossible. This phenomenon shows in a movie The Other Boleyn Girl which tells about an ordinary woman named Anne Boleyn who has an ambition to become the queen of England and she reaches her dream use controversial way. Thus, the aim of this research is to find out the controversy portrayed in Anne Boleyn character in the movie.The writer watches the movie so many times and then analyzes women character in Henry Tudor era, then the result will be use to discover Anne Boleyn’s controversy. Here, the writer also uses mise-en-scene to help gives more illustration related to the struggles that portraits in Anne Boleyn. Mise-en-scene help give more impression from setting, costume, lighting or the expression of the actors and actresses.This study reveals that woman struggle starts from feeling underestimated and controlled by others, especially men. However the movie The Other Boleyn Girl, shows that women in Henry Tudor era cannot make a movement or shows a struggle to change their fate. The action of Anne Boleyn character creates controversy at that time. Anne Boleyn’s struggles to shows the others that she as a woman can do something, woman can make everything possible. Anne Boleyn’s controversial act also broke assumption that woman is a weak person and was born to be men’sfollower.The writer suggests the next writers who want to analyze The Other Boleyn Girl movie to find out another special thing in the movie. If the next writer still wants to analyze the movie using feminism, maybe the next writer can choose another approach in feminism like woman subordination or patriarchy. If the next writers do not want to use feminism in their research they can use another approach like historical approach, because this movie adapted from England’s history
FLOUTING MAXIM OF RELEVANCE RELATED TO FACE THREATENING ACT STRATEGIES IN PESBUKERS REALITY SHOW SPECIAL EDITION “VALENTINEâ€
Get PDFLanguage is a device used by human beings to communicate in the society. In the process of communication, people take and give messages to convey their feelings, ideas, or things in mind. The process itself can be found in a reality show, such as Pesbukers reality show. Pesbukers reality show presents a comedy. The actors and actresses do flouting maxim of relevance because theyhave various purposes such as having hidden meaning, saving face act, avoiding face threatening act and making a joke. There are two problems of the study, namely: (1) what are face threatening act strategies applied in flouting maxim of relevance in Pesbukers reality show, and (2) what are the intended meaning of flouting maxim of relevance related to face threatenIng act strategies in Pesbukers reality show.This study focuses on flouting maxim of relevance and face threatening act strategies that are applied in Pesbukers reality show. The writer used qualitative approach because the writer collected the data in the form of words. The writer uses a transcription of Pesbukers reality show. She decided the utterances that are categorized into FTA strategies, and identified the intended meaning of the utterances based on Brown and Levinson’s theory (1987).The results of this study showed there were 12 utterances containing flouting maxim of relevance produced by the hosts and the guest stars. Those utterances were conforming Brown and Levinson’s theory (1987) of FTA strategies. There were three strategies used in Pesbukers reality show that werepositive politeness, negative politeness, and off record. The mostly used strategy was positive politeness which was shown by noticing the speakers’ interest, seeking an agreement to make a deal, and avoiding disagreement. The second strategy was negative politeness. The hosts and guest stars used negative politeness to minimize the imposition to others. The last strategy was off record. Mostly, they used off record by using an irony to tease each other.The writer suggests the further researcher conduct a research about FTAstrategies focusing on certain strategy for example positive politeness in any other subjects, such as movies, comics, magazines, speeches, dramas and so forth in order to have deeper analysis. Keywords: Flouting maxim, flouting maxim of relevance, face threatening act strategie
DEIKSIS WAKTU DALAM DRAMA CLEOPATRA NA ONNATACHI KARYA OOISHI SHIZUKA

(II) Sri Aju Indrowaty, M.Pd.  Kata Kunci: Deiksis Waktu, Referen, Referensi, Drama  Bahasa digunakan sebagai alat untuk saling berkomunikasi antar individu atau kelompok.  Ilmu yang mempelajari  bahasa disebut linguistik, salah satu cabang linguistik adalah pragmatik. Dalam penelitian  ini, penulis mengambil obyek kajian pragmatik yaitu, deiksis waktu dan menjawab dua rumusan masalah yaitu (1) Apa saja bentuk deiksis waktu dalam drama Cleopatra na Onnatachi? (2) Bagaimanakah  jenis  referensi pada deiksis waktu dalam drama Cleopatra na Onnatachi? Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Sumber data yang digunakan adalah deiksis waktu yang terdapat dalam drama Cleopatra na Onnatachi Karya Ooishi Shizuka. Analisis yang digunakan adalah dengan melakukan klasifikasi terhadap keterangan waktu, tabulasi dan analisis data. Dari kasil analisis pada penelitian ini  ditemukan 64 kata deiksis waktu yang terdiri dari 47 kata deiksis waktu bentuk perubahan ruang, seperti今日  (ãょã†/kyou/hari ini)  dan 昔  (ã‚€ã‹ã—/mukashi/dahulu).  17 kata deiksis waktu bentuk perubahan waktu, seperti æ—¥  (ã«ã¡/nichi/hari), 今  (ã„ã¾/ima/sekarang). Kata deiksis waktu yang telah terkumpul  tersebut mengandung 19 kata referensi eksofora, yaitu今日  (ãょã†/kyou/hari ini), 昔  (ã‚€ã‹ã—/mukashi/dahulu), é ƒ  (ã“ã‚/koro/ketika) dan今 (ã„ã¾/ima/sekarang). 19 kata referensi katafora, seperti今晩  (ã“ã‚“ã°ã‚“/konban/malam hari)  dan å°†æ¥ Â (ã—ょã†ã‚‰ã„/shourai/masa depan). 26 kata referensi  anafora, sepertiæ—¥  (ã«ã¡/nichi/hari), 時  (ã¨ã/toki/saat) dan後 (ã‚ã¨/ato/setelah). Penelitan serupa dapat dilakukan menggunakan jenis deiksis  yang sama atau menggunakan jenis deiksis yang lain, misalnya jenis deiksis persona, deiksis ruang, dll. Selain itu,  menggunakan  obyek penelitian yang  belum pernah digunakan agar hasilnya dapat lebih variatif, misalnya komik, novel, siaran berita dalam bahasa jepang

Pembimbing : (I) Ismatul Khasanah, M.Pd.,M.Ed.,Ph.D. (II) Febi Ariani Saragih, M.Pd.  Kata Kunci: Bilingualisme, Kode, Campur Kode, Alih Kode  Bahasa merupakan salah satu media yang digunakan manusia untuk berkomunikasi. Dalam berkomunikasi pada masa kini, seseorang dituntut untuk tidak hanya menguasai satu bahasa saja, tetapi lebih dari satu bahasa. Penguasaan lebih dari satu bahasa disebut dengan bilingual. Seorang bilingual biasanya mengalami peristiwa alih kode dan campur kode saat berbicara. Dalam penelitian ini, penulis menggunakan responden orang Jepang yang tinggal di Malang sebanyak lima orang. Untuk dua rumusan masalahnya adalah : (1) Apa saja jenis alih kode dan campur kode yang terdapat dalam percakapan para responden ? (2) Apa saja hal yang dapat menjadi penyebab campur kode dan alih kode dalam percakapan tersebut ? Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif untuk menganalisa data. Tahapan penelitiannya adalah merekam pembicaraan responden dengan voice recorder, melakukan transkrip data, dan membuat tabulasi alih kode dan campur kode yang ditemukan, kemudian analisis data. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dari transkrip percakapan para responden, ditemukan 47 peristiwa alih kode dan campur kode, yang terdiri atas 13 peristiwa alih kode dengan penyebab yang paling banyak ditemukan adalah pembicara. Selain itu ditemukan 34 peristiwa campur kode dengan penyebab yang paling banyak adalah saat membicarakan mengenai topik tertentu.  Â
