Rekonstruksi Fiqh Pendarahan Pervaginam dengan Pendekatan Medis
This article discusses the reconstruction of fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) with regard to vaginal bleeding using a medical approach. The fiqh of vaginal bleeding discusses menstruation, postpartum, and isti???ah. The discussion of fiqh is normative in nature, as it is based on the Qur??n and Had?th. Technological developments in medical science affect the deconstruction of fiqh pertaining to vaginal bleeding. As a resut, the opinions of previous jurists become less relevant, and the fiqh of vaginal bleeding needs to be reconstructed accordingly. This reconstruction can be conducted by using the empirical-normative approach to the study of fiqh with regard tovaginal bleeding, redefining the fiqh of vaginal bleeding, reinterpreting the argument of fiqh concerning vaginal bleeding, and making medical experts as partners in determining vaginal bleeding
Islam dan Toleransi Beragama dalam Masyarakat Muslim Kanayatn Dayak di Kalimantan Barat
The object of this study is Islam in Dayak communities; a subject that is rarely being studied. It tries to expose some interesting facts about Islam in these isolated communities. Many have hitherto thought that the Dayak communities are primitive with no particular affiliation to any formal religion. This paper tries to show the reverse. The truth is that these communities do even have reasonably developed view of Islam especially that which has to do the problem of tolerance and social life. The basic premise that this paper adopts is that a practice is form of paradigm; the way a particular society performs social life reflects their orientation of religious understanding. Hence, although the Dayak communities do not have paradigmatic understanding of Islam?in the strictest sense of the word?they do nonetheless have a practical discourse that emerge out of their unique and perhaps simple understanding of their religion. Relevant to the study of this object is the issue of community identity and how this issue is related to the religious identity. Hence, the paper is interested in exposing the tension between the two identities in the context of the Dayak communities in West Kalimantan
Paradigma Islam tentang Pengembangan Pendidikan Islam
The main purpose of this article is to portray Islam as a paradigm of higher religious education. This paper is a result of a long research initially aimed at finding new perspective on the development of teaching and learning process in Indonesia. The paper finds that the Holy Qur??n is ample with references on education at all level. It is actually a book of education. The history of Islam has shown that the system, method, and materials of education in the Islamic world are all derived from it. It is this that the paper is interested to discuss. In doing so, it takes into account the conventional distinction between the religious and natural science as far as education is concerned. While the Qur??n does not make a clear-cut distinction between the two sciences, the difference between the two does serve as a meaningful entry?at least methodologically?into the world of education. The paper goes on to classify some Islamic universities in Indonesia along the line of this distinction. It finds that some of these universities believe in this distinction, while others do not. This belief will in turn shape the way these universities design their vision and carry on their mission
Pola Kerukunan Antarumat Islam dan Hindu di Denpasar Bali
This study attempts to review the religious life of multicultural society of Muslim-Hindus in Denpasar, Bali. Findings of the fieldwork reveal the prevalence of an ideal cooperation among religous communities in building harmony in religious life. This character constitutes an integral part of Balinese societal life. Building Bali Aga (Bali Sprouts Again) needs a long process and time through theological, ideological and socio-cultural dialectics. The local government and social institutions together with Balinese society have been struggling to maintain and protect the Hindu-inspired Balinese culture through preserving the tradition of menyama braya to establish a harmonious religious life. They also exhibit inclusive religiousity in social, cultural, economic, and educational spheres. It is with this openness that Muslim-Hindu community in Bali can live in a peaceful co-exisentence and respect each other
Dinamika Kehidupan Beragama Kaum Nahdiyin-Salafi di Pamekasan Madura
In principle, the Salafi-Islam attempts to call for genuine Islamic teaching as practiced during the period of the Prophet. Salafi-Islam came to Indonesia in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, then spread to different places in the Archipelago. In Larangan, Pamekasan, the spread of Salafi-Islam is still in its nascent stage, from person-to-person, and appears as a small phenomenon in the midst of predominantly mainstream Islam. Salafi teachings spread through different forms of communication media (radios, televisions, magazines, and books) and religious practices of its ?proponents. The movement manifests itself in the pratices of rituals, not in politics. The implication of encounter between salafi-Islam and NU as the mainstream religious group in Pamekasan is as follows: (1) religous life in Pamekasan becomes more dynamic; (2) there emerges inward-looking attitude at their own religous practices as well as outward-looking attitude to the others. This phenomenon can be observed among more educated members of the society. Among the common people, however, there are two types of attitude: ignorance and negative reaction; and (3) an attempt to search for the common ground and dialogue among different religious communities is being conducted
Pembacaan Dangding Haji Hasan Mustapa terhadap Sastra Sufistik Sunda di Era Budaya Popular
Dangding as a literary work is only meaningful when chanted. When one just reads in his/her mind silently, dangding becomes dry and lacks of meaning. This paper discusses the position of Mustapa?s dangding in literary context and their relevance to contemporary Sundanese discourse. The main focus of this study is the character of his mystical verses, structural aspects of dangding as a Sufism vessel, and to examine any discrepancy of meaning in reading process on his dangding for Sundanese literary today. Cultural studies approach is used to analyze the meaningfulness of his works in the current widespread popular cultural challenges. The study finds that with the decline of dangding tradition, Mustapa?s works receive a great deal of challenges seen from the development of modern literary: the influence of Indonesian literature (short stories, novels, etc.) to the Sundanese literary; dangding becomes marginalized along with the loss of many cultural institutions where it is appreciated; and the problem of meaning discrepancies on reading it in popular culture, which is dominated by massively printed works that lost the meaning behind words and melody. It is difficult for it to compete in popular cultural hegemony that relies on uniformity, profit-oriented and passive consumer
Epistemologi Penyembuhan Kiai Tabib
This article analyzes the epistemology of healing developed by kiai-traditional healer. In the Indonesian-Islamic tradition of healing, the kiai-traditional healer develops his own epistemological construct of healing, based on: (1) textual basis (bay?n?) referring to classical Islamic references, such as al-Awf?q and Shams al-Ma??rif; (2) intuitive power (?irf?n?) in the form of mystical practices, such as spiritual endeavor (muj?hadah), tawajjuh, self-cleansing (tazk?yat al-nafs), wara?, consistency (istiq?mah), and forbearance (?abr); and (3) pragmatic basis of the truth, particularly its utility value for the society. Normatively, the kiai-traditional healer uses different media of healing in terms of its easiness, belief or charm. Accordingly, it results in an impression that there are many modes of healing, i.e., medical, magical, mystical, and cosmic. The meaning of healing by the kiai-traditional healer constitutes a placebo effect of well-being, that is, an attempt of the kiai to implant evocation to recover the condition of human being
Kompetensi Guru PAI dalam Pembelajaran Berbasis Teknologi Informasi
This research focuses on the problem of information technology-based teaching activities by teachers of Islamic education in the regent of Sidoarjo. The research concludes that the learning activity on the subject of Islamic education is very much conventional where teachers play the major role in acquiring knowledge, while students were not involved. The research also discovers that teachers do have good teaching qualifications given that they meet 12 out of 16 competences criterion set by the national standard authority on the subject. But they on the other hand, are weak in terms of pedagogic qualification considering that they meet only 12 to 17 out of 42 competences. The research finds that the ability and skill of the teachers in using technology such as computer, laptop, LCD and internet are among the main factors behind their competencies. Teachers of SMAN 1 in Krian, and SMKN 2 in Buduran are among those who are familiar with the information technology system. Meanwhile, the poor infrastructure and limited availability of information technology in such schools as SMAN in Tarik, SMAN 2 in Sidoarjo and Porong are the main factors that hamper the process of developing the teaching standard
Pengalaman Muhammadiyah Membumikan Nilai-nilai Pluralisme
This article deals with the issue of religious pluralism in the view of the leading authorities within Muhammadiyah. The paper argues that the scholars of the organization develop a unique view of religious pluralism in line with the vision of the founding fathers. Apart from some ?discursive distortion? that these scholars might have undergone in the process of developing the discourse, their view deserves some appreciation for its depth and originality. The paper tries to show that there is indeed a tension between the cadres of the organization on the problem at hand. To dwell into this tension, the paper distinguishes between two major groups within the organization, namely that which accepts the notion of religious pluralism, and that which rejects it. The former includes such well-known scholars as Syafii Maarif, Amin Abdullah, Abdul Munir Mulkhan, and Moeslim Abdurrahman, whereas the latter includes the preachers and mosque-activists. Apart from these two groups, the paper will also look at the particular role that the Muhammadiyah?s Youth Movement has played in discourse-development among the members of the organization. Hence, the areas that the paper will cover include those that have been well-represented by the most admitted elements of the organization
Samâ dalam Tradisi Tasawuf
Samâ in Tasawuf has been a very important element in the dissemination of this spiritual dimension of Islam. Yet, it has received very little both from the practitioners of Tasawuf and its intellectuals. This paper tries to expose this simply in a hope to make it heard in the academic and popular circle. Here, Samâ is not only understood as a form of music, as many would do, but also as an art of listening of which music is certainly part. The paper will explore the meaning and definition of this term, putting emphasis on its many-faceted function in the formation and development of ones soul and spirituality. It is argued that soul is musical and artistic. Using art and music to talk to soul is therefore the proper way and means. The paper will also try to show that Samâ is also an indispensable part of spiritual method to reach and know God. Knowledge of God in other words, can be gained through this practice. Hence, Samâ is treated not only as a form of entertainment, but also a kind of practical epistemology
