Learning mathematics through games is one of the solutions. Games is a creative method that can help to create a more enjoyable atmosphere for the learners to study mathematics. Games also helps the learners memorize better than that of the other methods because the learners are not only passive listeners but they are more involved in the learning

    Tutors play an important role in executing Non-formal and Informal Education program at Learning Activities Center, Therefore, technical orientation activities are organized to improve the tutors’ ability to manage equivalency education. This research was conducted to obtain complete data and information needed to present a clear and complete description of the implementation of technical orientation program in P2PNFI Regional II, Semarang. To meet its objective, this research employed mixed method. Quantitative was used to obtain the tutors’ competence in managing equivalency education after they were given technical orientation. Qualitative method was used to describe the implementation of technical orientation in equivalency education. The result of the research indicates the technical orientation program has improved the competence of Learning Activities Center tutors

    The purpose of this study was to know the correlation between tutuor's performance and the learner's motivation. The study was conducted at the Learning Center of Nurul Fikri in Petukangan, South Jakarta as from July through November 2008. The population covered 115 with 50 learners selected by cluster technique. The data were collected by using questionairs, observation, and document study. Employing correlation formula of Rank Spearman, the study proved the positive correlation between tutor's performance and learner's learning motivation. Besides this study also indicated the tutor's low performance in instructional process, and the tutor's poor knowledge in tutor's functions and competencies. The study also provides a set of recommendations to improve the tutor's performance

    This study aims at finding out how far the English Package C curriculum meets the Package C learnerS needs Of English to pass the national examination (UN) and identify whether the learners* needs in learning listening, speaking, reading, and writing, skills are acommodated by he curriculum. The subjects Of the Study were 27 learners of Package C Program, consisting of 7 Terampil learners and 20 Mahir learners at the Community Learning Center (PKBM) 33 Malaka, East Jakarta. Questionnaires and interviews were conducted to get the data. The study revealed that the curriculum contents, though not complete, could accommodate most of the Package C learners' needs to learn reading, writing, listening and speaking skills although the tutor did not teach all the four skills. It was also found that the learners had some expectations: they needed more time to practice the four language skills in class, and sufficient teaching aids to SUDDort the Jearning-teaching process so that the learning would be more efficient

    The purpose of this study is to find out the effects of quantum learning method to the learning achievement in English subject for the learning participants at the Community Learning Activities Center in Pisangan Lama area, East Jakarta. The study was conducted at Miftahul Jannah Community Learning Activities Center, Pisangan Lama, East Jakarta, for one semester, from August to December 2008. It observed the effects in cognitive, affective, psychomotor aspects to the learning participants of Package C. The method employed was experiment in which the researcher was directly involved. The data were collected from 40 Package C participants randomly selected as the samples out of 70 participants of Grade III. The experiment proved that there are significant effects of quantum learning method to the learning achievementin English subject for the learning participants at Miftahul Jannah Community Learning Activities Center, East Jakarta

    The research was conducted to evaluate the performance of Community Learning Activities Center (CLAC) as an educational institution in empowering community. The research which is an evaluative study using the Stakes‘s evaluation model, took place at CLACs in Bantul, Yogyakarta Province. The findings show, firstly, each function of the CLACs has been put into practices. However, the implementation is not done effectively based on the criteria. It indicates that the performance is not organized professionally. Secondly, the CLACs have been able to produce meaningful learning outcomes such as creating positive behavior changes of targeted individuals or communities. However, the CLACs do not assign a greater impact on broader and multidimensional context of community empowerment.. Thirdly, there are threats that give negative influences on the implementation of the CLACs in terms of structural, interactional, and cultural aspects resulted from both internal and external environment of the CLAC institution. Therefore, bases on the findings, in the future the development of the CLACs should be planned and oriented to create the community toward more developed and comprehensive aspects of lives accompanied with the continuous development of strong commitment from stakeholders

    PENGARUH ASSESMEN PORTOFOLIO DAN USIA TERHADAP PENINGKATAN KEMAMPUAN KEAKSARAAN BAGI WARGA BELAJAR KEAKSARAAN FUNGSIONAL

    The objective of the research is to know the differences in reading and writing achievement between non-formal participants with conventional evaluation and those with portfolio evaluation treatment and between those of 15 years age or under and those of above 15 years age or above, and the interaction type of evaluation and age variable. The design of this research used Factorial Experiment 2X2. Research population covered all of those who learnt at Community Learning Activities Center in Makassar. Eighty respondents were selected by multi stage random sampling. Data on reading and writing learning achievement were obtained using a test and analyzed using descriptive statistic analysis and inferential analysis with Multivariate Analysis of Variants (two-way MANOVA). The research conducted in 2005 indicates that there are significant differences in reading and writing achievement between non-formal participants with conventional evaluation and those with portfolio evaluation treatment and between those of 15 years age or under and those of above 15 years age or above. These findings imply that in implementing functional literacy program, the application of different evaluation models to different age group need to be considered

    This research aimed to find out the influence of competence-based education and training (CbET) and motivation on the performance of civil service. This research was conducted from November 2008 to April 2009 at Dinas Ketrentaman dan Ketertiban DKI jakarta. A quasi method using stratified cluster random sampling was applied to involve 80 civil service out of 8000 members. The result of this study shows that (1) motivation influences the civil service's performance, (2) the form of CBET influences the civil service's performance; (3) the interaction between the training model and the motivation determines variations in civil service's performance; (4) there are differences between those who join CBET and those who do not. Those who join CBET have higher motivation to perform better. It is expected that these research findings can be used as a guidance to produce a new concept and strategy in education development and training for civil service
