    Some problems are often faced in educating children to be self-reliant. On the other hand independency is much required in their future life. This research conducted in RSPA Cisurupan, Garut, in April 2010 until April 2011, aimed at developing an integrated training model to improve function and social roles of the children in the independency. Employing research and development design with planning, preparation, implementation and maintaining, as well as evaluation, the model development involved the parents or the family members and the children. The research produced the Integrated Training Model to Improve the Function and Social Roles of the Children in Developing the Self-reliance, which had been validated in this research

    The role of inspectors is considered as highly strategic to helping the implementation of nonformal education in Indonesia. This research has aim to describe the inspectors’ performance in the implementation and quality control of nonformal education. With fenomologis approach, the data is collected by observation, interview, and document study. The result of this research showed that the inspector in Gorontalo not implement the entire main task and the function optimally yet. Because of that, this research suggested to increasing the competency of inspector by upgrading and another relevant forum

    This study was based on the researcher’s concern about worsening drugs abuse in the community. Drugs Rehabilitation Center Wisma Sirih Pontianak provides assistance for parents of drugs abuse victims by applying “Therapeutic Community†(TC) method. The method was considered as containing less religious faith values for character building, so it has further been developed into “Religious Faith-Based Therapeutic Community for Character Building of Drugs Addictsâ€. The study aims at describing the application of TC method, assessing the strengths and weaknesses of TC method, formulating a theoretical concept of religious faith-based TC model for good character building, and evaluating the effectiveness of TC model in fostering good character. The study adopts R&D method and qualitative approach. Data were collected with interview, observation, and literature review. Findings can be described as follows TC model could develop good behaviors of drugs addicts, the characteristics of the TC model include belief in the essence of Thoyyibah meaning, focused prayers, knowledge and reflection, ikramul muslimin, tash hihun niyyah, dakwah and tabligh, making the residents quit the drugs, recovered faster, get well, and invite their friends to stay away from the drugs

    The aim of this research is to deliver a training model that can increase the knowledge and skill of the parents of the early children to perform education in the family environment. To reach the goal it is developed the educative traditional game based on the local potency. After attending the training, it is expected that the skill and knowledge of the parents in applying the traditional game can be increased.The method of this study is research and development model. The subject of the research was the parents of the early-age children who were staying to take care of their children during their study at the PAUD Kota Gorontalo, 50 of which were used in the previous study and the other 40 were used in the model implementation, and they were divided into two groups, the experiment and control groups (20 for each).The purposive sampling, the test, interview, questionnaire, and documentation study were applied in this research. It applied the quasy experiment (Non Equivalent Group Pretest-Posttest Design). The research result indicates local potency based educative traditional game model has effectively increased the knowledge and skills of the early age children’s parents at PAUD Kota Gorontalo

    The purpose of this study is to describe the data of the educational qualification, tutor’s competence, and the administrators in equalizing education. This study is based on the fact tutors and the executing staff play a very important role in improving the instructional services. The study employed survey method with descriptive technique and questionaire. The study took place in PKBM in Jakarta on April to September 2011, with the research subjects include tutors and administrators. The findings indicate that the tutor’s qualification has met the requirement but there is a mismatch between the educational specialization and the courses to teach, the tutor’s competence is regarded low (at the average of 37,3) in pedagogy and andragogy and the administrators consist of head, secretary, and administrative staff as well as the educational staff

    The result of this research indicated that: (1) the couses of Dayak, Melayu and Madura ethnics in Sebangki Villages, Landak District, West Kalimantan avoided from conlict are because of the competition of jobsorder are very little. The limitation of physical infrastructures building like: streets, electricity, and telephone or celularphone that can be used for social movement, relatively long distance between village to village and the most of existing government and education institution, as well as institutions of religious, politics, and the family function still are efectif to maintain threir daily social life; (2) social interactional models between Dayak,Melayu and Madura can be conducted through married system, economic activities, institutions: of adat Dayak Kanayatn, social/ education, religious, and politics; (3) the construction ofsocial capital between those etnics is very strong ; (4) the social engineering which conducted by government institution and the existing institutions of: adat, social/ education, religious, politics, and the family function in Sebangki villages are very high. The methods of social control within multicultural ethnics in Sebangki use persuasive and coersief techniques. This techniques may be appropriate because they can give positive responses for the whole people as well as motivate people to have more interactions and consequently tighten the social capital and social integration among ethnics in Sebangki

    Paradigm shift in education has made significant change in the roles of teacher and student in teaching and learning process. In the new paradigm the student become the axis of teaching and learning process. The student makes the choice in learning objective, learning materials, and learning resources based on his/her learning style. The teacher acts more as a learning designer, learning manager, and tutor. The learning theory development tends to provide the learner with learning skills to enable them to be independent learners to life-long learning. However, the learning theories are mostly discussed in the formal eduacation situation, though the theories are also apllicable for nonformal education. This article discusses how the current learning theories can be implemented in nonformal education. The discussion is limited on the application of learning resources development in early childhood education and learning community centers. The discussion ends with a strong conclusion that resources based learning theory are potential and need to apply in nonformal education under a condition that there should be some changes in the roles of teachers/instructors, learners, and the nonformal institution

    PENGEMBANGAN MODEL PEMBELAJARAN BERBASIS MASALAH UNTUK MENINGKATKAN MOTIVASI BERPRESTASI WARGA BELAJAR PROGRAM PENDIDIKAN KECAKAPAN HIDUP

    This study aimed to develop a model of problem-based learning to increase the achievement motivation of the participants of life skills education programs and to examine the effectiveness of the learning model in accelerating the achievement motivation. The research conducted in Kemloko, Srimartani village, Piyungan Sub-district, Bantul, in the Province of Yogjakarta, employed research and development approach in an oyster mushroom cultivation training. The try out of the model used experimental design (quasi experiment - a non equivalent control group design), with 20 people for each group. The results showed that there is no difference in achievement motivation scores before and after training (p = 0.385) in the control group after an average of different test score achievement motivation, while there are differences in achievement motivation scores before and after training (p = 0.001). Effectiveness test also showed significant differences between the control and treat-ment groups (p = 0.012) so that the problem-based learning model is effective to increase achievement motivation compared to the conventional models (model control class)
