    This study aims to investigate the case of the self-help skills in the orphanage children aged 4-5 years old. The study took place at Yayasan Arrohmaniyah Panti Asuhan Yatim Piatu Anni’mah, Cakung, East Jakarta. The method used in this research is a case study. Data collection techniques used was observation, interview, and documentation. In the data analysis, this study using Miles and Huberman. Activities undertaken in the analysis of data such as data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing / verification. Orphanage children who are in the age range 4-5 years to be subjects in this study. In the observations made during the study obtained data is that children aged 4-5 years living in orphanages have had self-help skills. Self-help skills possessed these children appear in fulfilling the needs and tasks that can be done without the intervention of an adult. Field data indicate that the opportunity to do the task and given caregiver needs. Attempts are made in the process of growing self-help skills provided caregivers on Yayasan Arrohmaniyah Panti Asuhan Yatim Piatu Anni’mah

    PENGARUH KEGIATAN BERCERITA DENGAN BUKU CERITA ISLAMI TERHADAP PERILAKU MORAL ANAK

    This study aims to obtain empirical data on the effects of storytelling activities with Islamic books on moral behavior of the children aged 5-6 years in Unwanul Khairiyah RA and RA Nurul Akbar. The research method used was ex post facto. The research samples were 20 children selected by simple random sampling. The techniques of data analysis conducted prior to the test requirements consisted of normality and homogeneity. This study concluded that there are significant positive storytelling activities with Islamic books on moral behavior of the children aged 5-6 years. The implications of the results of the study are that teachers should create learning activities that can develop the children’s moral behavior in a joyful method such as story telling with Islamic books. The teachers also need to be more creative in using methods and media

    This study aims to develop model of community of practice based on social capital for improving quality of the community entrepreneurship education and also to contribute the decision making process for community development, theory and practice development. The study used research and development approach which consisted of four steps: need assessment, designing of the conceptual model, and try out in limited field. Taking place in Yogyakarta Special Province, the study selected the community entrepreneurship education in Gunung Kidul Regency and the enterprise learning groups in Bantul Regency. In this study, data collection used interview, observation, documentation and questionare, and analysis of data used qualitative and quantitative technique. The result shows that it`s could be developed the model of community of practice based on social capital for developing the entrepreneurship education quality and also guidance for managing the model which was be validated. The other finding are actions of the model development could be able to encourage consciousness of the target groups to build, manage, and keep the community practice in their enterprise, motivated the target group to participate actively in their enterprise and find out new understanding and knowledge by held learning activities. So that, it is needs to implementation the community of practice based social capital model in developing community entrepreneurship education in future for continuing and controlling the quality

    MENINGKATKAN MINAT BELAJAR MATEMATIKA MELALUI PERMAINAN TEKA-TEKI

    This research aims to increase the early age children’s interest in learning math through puzzle game. This study was conducted in grade 1, SDN Kaloran Kidul in May to June 2012. The method used was action research conducted through two cycles each of which consisted of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects were ten children of with interest problems in learning math. The data were collected using tests and non-test and analyzed with the percentage technique agreed by the collaborator and researcher. The results show that the puzzle game can be used to increase the students’ interest in learning math. The implications of these results among others is the puzzle game can be used as an alternative method to improve the children’s interest in learning math. The interest increase can be seen from the children’s sense of love or interest, concern, desire, seriousness and satisfaction in learning mathematics

    PENGEMBANGAN MODEL PENDIDIKAN LIFE SKILLS BERBASIS KEWIRAUSAHAAN MELALUI EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING

    The existing life skill education program is not effective to reduce community poverty as the program just focus on producing more community hardskills than community softskills. This research aimed to create a model of entrepreneurship based 4-H lifeskills to decrease rural poverty. This research was conducted as from May through November 2013, in three regions of Gunung Kidul, Special Region of Yogyakarta. The data were collected by interview, documentation, observation and questionaire then analysed qualitatively and quantitatively. Research result shows: (1) most of the target research group members have dificulties in implementing several skills they obtained in the previous training; (2) the 4-H lifeskills model designed on the basis of empirical community condition is able to optimalize the use of the target group member resources; and (3) the model testing shows all of the three target groups have increasing mean of 4-H lifeskills perception. It means the model 4-H developed by researcher are effective

    KEMAMPUAN SOSIALISASI DAN GERAK MANIPULATIF BERBASIS KELOMPOK PADA ANAK USIA 4-5 TAHU

    The purpose of this study is to answer the problem of how to improve the social skills of children aged 4-5 years through group -based manipulative motion activity. The research was carried out in the children group of 4-5 years old at The Kindergarten of IPEKA Sunter, North Jakarta as from March through May 2011. The research method used an action research approach through cycles: initial assessment planning, action, observation and reflection, the research carried out in 2 cycles, data collected by the instrument type observation, interviews and documents,with mixmethod data analysis, and data validity by triangulation methods and sources. The results of data analysis show an overall group -based manipulative movement has increased the social skills of children aged 4-5 years was 76.77 % , makes no difference that drives the improvement of learning outcomes is through manipulative motion activity -based group has given children the opportunity to interact intensively, fun atmosphere, providing the freedom of choice of activity , active child, role sharing, collaboration, and empathy. The implication of this study is if the activity group -based manipulative movement properly made and programmed it will have a positive impact on the development potential of the socialization of children

    PENGARUH EFIKASI DIRI AKADEMIK TERHADAP HASIL BELAJAR MATEMATIKA TENTANG SOAL CERITA OPERASI HITUNG CAMPURAN

    The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of academic self efficacy on math learning outcomes particularly in solving mixed word problems. The study was conducted at SDN Pinang Ranti 04 Pagi, East Jakarta, in January 2013. Employing ex-post facto method, the study selected 32 students of the third grade. The data were collected using questionnaires and descriptive test and analyzed by t-test for the hypothesis. The results indicate positive significant influence of academic self efficacy on the learning outcomes in math mixed word problems. The implications of this research is high academic self efficacy needs to have as it gives effect to the students’ academic success. The students can enhance their academic self efficacy by increasing self efficacy experiences, observations on the other people’s success. The teachers and parents can help the students to their academic self efficacy by providing encouragement. The students’ learning outcomes can be influenced by internal and eksternal factors

    The purpose of this research is to improve speaking skills of children aged 6-7 years by playing a picture wheel in SDN Rawamangun 15 Pagi, Jakarta Timur. This research using action research method that was done by two cycle consisting of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The research subject are children aged 6-7 years who had problem in the ability of speaking as many as 8 childrens. The analysis of data was obtained from the comparison between the ability of childrens speaking before and after implemetation of the action. The final result from the overall analysis of data percentage reach to 78,3%. Based on the percentage of end the cycle of this research, so it was stated that the hypothesis can be accepted. Then it can be concluded that playing a picture wheel can improved children speaking ability of aged 6-7 years. The implication of this research is playing a picture wheel can be alternative for improving children speaking ability of aged 6-7 years. The reach of children speaking ability can showed by word producing, conveying the idea, asking the question, expressing emotion, and conveying the information

    The purpose of this research is to describe the implementation of functional literacy education towards the professional actuality of the community members in Kayumerah village, Lomboto Subdistrict, Gorontalo District. The research conducted as from April through June 2013, collected data by interviewing 20 resource persons with various professional backgrounds. The data were analysed qualitatively and concluded that the participants of functional literacy education are motivated to complete the program and the result has significant effect to do their jobs

    In the pluralistic society, the insight of multiculturalism is essential in creating peaceful life of the society. This article discusses how education plays in building mutlicultural character among the society members. If the children learn and understand multiculturalism at their early age, they will be tolerant of the differences. Having reviewing the existing literature critically, this article concludes that the institution of early childhood education has a strategic role in multicultural education. The early childhood education institution should design and develop multicultural learning environment in growing their appriciation of multiculturalism. The teachers are encouraged to work together with the parents, society members, and nongoverment organizations to meet the multicultural needs of the children
