Penerapan Produksi Bersih untuk Meningkatkan Efisiensi Proses Pelapisan Logam
Metal coating wastes generally bring about environmental health problems resulting from liquid wastes that contain heavy metals. The waste processing carried out thus far does not solve the problems because it just move wastes to other media. Cleaner production comes to be an alternative in minimizing liquid wastes, for water consumption, and for raw material. The present research was intended to identify wastewater resulting from the production stage, get cleaner production opportunities that can be applied, and give priority to clean production opportunities. The research stages began with a quick scan to identify the sources of wastes in production process and to determine an alternative of cleaner production chance, and then an economic computation was done, including B/C ratio and payback period. The determination of the priority of cleaner production technique given to a company was conducted by using exponential comparison method. The results showed that liquid wastes were originated from the process of fat removing, metal coating and process of cleaning up the remaining oxides. Liquid waste or loss in the form of contaminated fat solvents, the quite great loss of water due to evaporation and leakage. Cleaner production opportunities that can be applied by modifying/adding tools so as to prevent alkali solutionfrom being contaminated, reducing evaporation and reducing leakages by good housekepping. Three opportunities for cleaner production obtained to have B/C Ratio of more than 1 is can be implemented. Based on the exponential comparison method, the main priority of cleaner production is found, that is pipe changes in the residual oxide cleaning process to avoid leakage, technically and operationally the easiest to implement and followed successively with modifiying/adding tools to process of fat removing and metal coating
Kebijakan Pengembangan Budidaya Tanaman Bambu untuk Pengelolaan Berkelanjutan DAS Aesesa Flores
The existence of Aesesa Flores (AF) watershed is very important for people in Ngada and Nagekeo Regency of Flores island. The AF watershed provides water, land use, economic and other environmental services. However, the excessive exploitation is a major threat for the existence of the AF watershed. The degradation of the AF watershed function such as reduction in river debit, increase of critical land, land use change as well as the problem of poverty. The upstream area is intended as a conservation area where Watu Ata nature preservation park is located, the bamboo forest and Bajawa as the capital city of Ngada Regency. The downstream area is not only as capital city of Nageko Regency but also as paddy field area. One of the activity to improve the watershed function is through a comprehensive and sustainable management policy design based on characteristics and carrying capacity of the AF watershed. This research was conducted in April-May 2018 and the the purpose of the study is to analyzed key factors and establishing an alternative for sustainable management policy development of AF watershed using a prospective method. This study using mainly primary data obtained from the seven local experts through the filling of the questionnaire. The result shows that there are 22 attribute factors and it identified as 10 key factors. The main two key factors are bamboo cultivation, processing technology of bamboo, enlargement of bamboo cultivation area and practicing the soil and water conservation technique. The 10 key factors then become input for designing the management policy of AF watershed. Bamboo become the dominant and key factor because bamboo could be developed into biomass energy plant and it serves social, economic and ecological values for the local people of Ngada and Nagekeo Regency. Bamboo cultivation has a good prospect financially for the local people
Dapatkah Pembayaran Jasa Lingkungan Mencegah Deforestasi dan Meningkatkan Kesejahteraan Masyarakat? Pelajaran dari Hutan Desa Laman Satong, Kabupaten Ketapang, Kalimantan Barat
In order to reduce deforestation, the Government of Indonesia has introduced several initiativies, including a Hutan Desa (village forest) program to bring local communities to become actor in the forest management. The Reduced Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation plus (REDD+) and Payment for Environmental Services (PES) scheme for the hutan desa is one of the alternative scheme to provide economic incentives for their effort to manage their forest sustainably. This study aims to evaluate the impact of the initiation of REDD+ and PES funds for hutan desa to deforestation and community wellbeing. The impact to deforestation is measured through quantitative approach by comparing quantitatively forest cover on 1070ha of village forest through satelite image analysis. The impact to community wellbeing is measured through participatory wellbeing assessment involving 30 informants during a focus group discussion. An attribution to the variables are conducted qualitatively by in-depth interviews to 25 key informants. The result shows eventhough the benefit provided by the initiation of REDD+ and PES (the money) is much less than the opportunity cost, the community is still accepting the scheme and succeeds reducing deforestation. However, the benefit is not sufficient enough yet to improve community wellbeing
Delaying Timber Harvesting Loan for Smallholder Private Forest: Who Accessing it? (Case Study: Smallholder Private Forest in Bojonegoro)
Trees are important for rural people livelihood, because of its function as savings for urgent need. The recognition function of trees has increase by using it as collateral to access loan. The aim of this study is to discover the household and smallholder private forest characteristic that acces delaying timber harvesting loan for smallholder private forest (PTT-HR) in Bojonegoro, Indonesia as one of the loan scheme using trees as collateral initiate by Public Service Agency of Ministry of Environment and Forestry (BLU KLHK). About 170 farmers were involved in this study which is devided into two groups; debtors and non-debtors Result of this studies indicate that farmers accessing this loan are from prosperous farmer, which characterized by young aged, high education level, have the main job not as farmers, have greater household income, wider total area owned, forest relatively far from house, and do not having experience of logging. This condition also supported by the result of poverty level determination from World Bank which indicate only 27% farmer with poor condition who access this scheme. According to the perspective of formal lending institution, giving loan to prosperous farmer is not risky, but according to the program perspective this condition is less suited to poverty alleviation mission
ANALISIS EVALUASI PENGAWASAN ZONA DI KAWASAN KONSERVASI PULAU MENJANGAN, BALI
Abstrak Masalah yang muncul dalam sebuah pengelolaan suatu kawasan konservasi adalah tidak sinergis dan tidak harmonisnya antar kegiatan di masing-masing zona, atau adanya tumpang tindih pemanfaatan ruang.Hal tersebut menimbulkan dampak negatif bagi kelangsungan ekosistem dan lingkungan, maka perlu dilakukan evaluasi untuk mengetahui penyebab ketidak efektifan maupun strategi pengembangan dan mengupayakan solusi.Tujuan yang ingin dicapai penelitian ini adalah, menganalisis efektifitas pengawasan kawasan konservasi Pulau Menjangan, Bali.Metode pengukuran efektivitas pengawasan dilakukan menggunakan kuesioner.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai efektifitas adalah 75.6%. Berdasarkan Tabel Indikator Efektifitas Pengawasan Kawasan Konservasi, tingkat efektifitas pengawasan kawasan konservasi termasuk dalam kategori “efektif”.
Kerentanan Sosioekonomi Rumah Tangga Petani Akibat Konversi Lahan (Studi Kasus Kabupaten Bogor Jawa Barat)
Land conversion is one of the consequences of population growth. Bogor as a buffer zone of the capital city and Bekasi, Depok, Tangerang has significant increase number of developed land. The urban sprawl drove land use change from farmland, paddy fields, and forest area. This study tries to identify livelihood assets and livelihood structures and to analyse the socioeconomic vulnerability index of farm households as a result of land conversion in Cibungbulang Sub-district, Bogor Regency. The research focused on two villages, Cemplang and Situ Udik. We surveyed 35 households from each village to collect data on various vulnerability domains and 27 socioeconomic indicators. We built and weighted these indicators base on local stakeholders, farmers, prior researches and literature studies. The research results showed that both villages are moderate in vulnerability and are still able to deal with the existing shocks. SeVI of Cemplang is 0.51 and Situ Udik’s 0.37. Uji Efektivitas Inokulum Fungi Mikoriza Arbuskula Terhadap Pertumbuhan Bibit Jati (Tectona Grandis Linn. F)
Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi is a phylum of Glomeromycota. Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) propagule are spores, mycor-rhizal fungal hyphae and infected root fragments. The aims of this research were to analyze the effectivity of root inoculum of AMF to enhance teak (Tectona grandis Linn F.) seedling growth. The research was used complete randomized design (CRD)-split plot design. The main plot was root inoculum of AMF, sub plot is a media sterilization and media is not sterilized. The results showed that root inoculum of AMF and media effectively improved teak growth, especially in height, diameter, and shoot dry weight. Root inoculum of AMF is able to be used as the source of inoculum for the growth teak seedling. Fresh inoculum was found to be better than root inoculum stored at room temperature and root inoculum stored at refrigerator temperature (5°C). Storage of root inocu-lum at room temperature and refrigerator temperature (5°C) for two weeks decreased the effectiveness of inoculum. Type of mixed inoculum and inoculum of Acaulospora sp. root resulted in better growth compared with G. clarum root inoculum
Perilaku Pengguna Jasa Karantina Pertanian dalam Mendukung Perlindungan Sumberdaya Alam Hayati
Agricultural quarantine is the forefront of Indonesia’s natural biodiversity and technical barrier in agricultural commodities trade. This study aimed to analyze the user behavior of service users in utilizing agricultural quarantine services in relation to supporting the protection of natural resources biodiversity. This study used primary data, with purpossive random sampling as the sampling technique. Multiple regression analysis, Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI), and Structural Equation Modelling(SEM) were carried on this study. Through CSI calculation obtains the CSI value is 78.26% at satisfied range.The result of multiple re-gression analysis test indicated that emphaty, responsiveness, reliability, assurance, and tangible have significant influence to service user satisfaction. Hypothesis testing using SEM so that it is known that the perception and service quality have significant influence on user behavior characterized by participation and compliance level. By knowing the level of participation and compli-ance of service users is useful in determining and formulating strategies to increase protection of natural resources biodiversity through quarantine action
Land Suitability and Availability Evaluation for Shallot Farming Development in Brebes Regency, Central Java
Land suitability and availability is needed to be evaluated in Brebes Regency because the utilization of unsuitable land area is increasing to pursue high production targets as the impact of increased shallot demand. The objective of this research was to evaluate the land suitability and land availability for shallot farming development in Brebes Regency, an agricultural regency in Java island. The method used was the matching method between shallot growing pre-requirement criteria from Indonesian Center for Agricultural Land Resources Research and Development (CALRRD) with land quality and characteristics in Brebes Regency. Since limited data, we used an interpolation techniques from 14 sample point by using geostatistical wizard tool in ArcGIS 10.3 with inverse distance weighting (IDW) method for nutrient retention and climatologicaldata, while soil physical propertiesfrom soil map atribut data ekstraction, meanwhile terain data were constructed from digital topographic maps (countur line). The result indicated that suitable land for shallot farming development was 29.3% or 50,440.7 hectares included in the Moderately Suitable (S2); 55.5% or 95,819.9 hectares in Marginally Suitable (S3); while Not Suitable (N) was 14.8% or 25,678.3 hectares. The available land for agricultural farming based on legality was 59,076.0 hectares (without considering the existing shallot farming), while the suitable land area on available land was 56,642.6 hectares. The existing shallot land area was 49,840,3 hectares, so the available and suitable land area on existing land for shallot farming was 49.099,5 hectares, and potential extensification was 6.417,9 hectares as shrubs, grasslands, open land, and forest. The huge potential extensification area was Salem, Bantarkawung and Ketanggungan Sub-districts, it means that those area have an opportunity and potency for agricultural extensification program development for shallot commodities in Brebes Regency in order to enhance the national shallot productivity and food security.

Adsorptive Removal of Mercury by Zeolites and Montmorillonite
The environmental pollution by the drainage containing heavy metals such as Hg is a serious problem in mining activities in Indonesia. We examined the effect of coexisting thiourea on the adsorptive removal of Hg by zeolites and montmorillonite. To a 100 mL of 10 mg/L (0.05 mM) HgCl2 solution in the absence and presence of 0.5 mM thiourea, different amounts of zeolite (A4, P or mordenite) or montmorillonite was added, shaken for 24 h, centrifuged, and supernatant Hg2+ concentration was measured. In the absence of thiourea, the ratio of the negative charges in the adsorbents to the positive charges in Hg2+, Ads/Hg ratio, needed to attain >80% Hg2+ removal were >70 for mordenite, >1625 for P, >600 for A4, and montmorillonite showed no Hg2+ adsorption. In contrast, in the presence of thiourea, nearly 100% removal was attained at lower Ads/Hg ratios: the ratios were 1 for montmorillonite, <10 for P and <18 for A4; the presence of thiourea had little effect for mordenite. These results indicate that Hg2+-thiourea complex has extremely high adsorption affinity for negative charges of montmorillonite, A4 and P, and the complex can fully penetrate into the interlayer space of montmorillonite. However, with increasing the Ads/Hg ratio, the Hg2+ removal percentage for montmorillonite, A4 and P decreased. Therefore, for the effective removal of Hg2+ in the presence of thiourea, the choice of adsorbents and the dose of the adsorbents should be carefully determined
