The Effectiveness of Fishing Gear’s Replacement from Cantrang into Gillnet Millennium at Banyutowo, Pati Residence
This study’s background was based on the prohibition of cantrang’s operation. To reduce impact of this ban, the Government was replacing cantrangs with another fishing gears which are considered more environmentally friendly. In Banyutowo, Pati Residence, “cantrang” was replaced with Gillnet Millennium. This study aims to determine the pattern of fishing season of some of the dominant fish species caught around Banyutowo and to analyze the effectiveness of replacing fishing gear, from cantrangs into gillnet millenium at Banyutowo. The fishing season indeks was analyzed using the moving average method. The types of fish analyzed in this study were the dominant fish caught in the Banyutowo waters with cantrang and gillnet such as Kuniran, Squid, Pari, Manyung, Beloso, Kuro and Tigawaja fish. Analysis of the effectiveness of replacing cantrang with the gillnet millenium in Banyutowo was carried out at the process, and output stages. The results showed that some of the most landed fish in PPI Banyutowo had different fishing seasons. The peak season for fishing in Banyutowo occurs in December (West season) and lowest in July (East season). The evaluation of the effectiveness of replacing cantrang into the gillnet millennium in Banyutowo at the process stage shows ineffective results, and at the output stage shows very ineffective results
Composition of Plants and Spread Analysis of Langkap (Arenga obtusifolia Mart.) in Ujung Kulon National Park
Langkap (Arenga obtusifolia) is one of the species of the Arenga clan, which has a wide distribution in Ujung Kulon National Park (UKNP). The aim of study was to determine the pattern of spreading langkap in order to support the management of Javan Rhino habitat. The vegetation analysis method used is a combination method between the line method and the path method. Langkap is the dominant species in UKNP at the sapling growth rate, with a density of 480-624 individuals/ha and INP value of 61.47% -78.30%, while the catch density at seedling growth rate is 900- 2,200 individuals/ha with INP value of 21.31% -49.41%. The standard Morisita coefficient value of langkap in each research block and growth rate is obtained in the range of values (-0.32) - 0.51, the spreading pattern shows a clustered spread pattern (Ip> 0) and uniform (Ip <0). The tendency of langkap domination in the research block can be seen from the ratio of catch density compared to the total density or its relative density at various growth rates. This shows that in the dominant catchment area there is a reduction in the density of plants other than langkap, especially the Javan Rhino feed plants.Langkap (Arenga obtusifolia) is one of the species of the Arenga clan, which has a wide distribution in Ujung Kulon National Park (UKNP). Soil redox potential as predictor of heterotrophic respiration of an oil palm plantation-peatland in Riau, Indonesia
Identifying blue swimming crab (Portunus pelagicus) stocks with truss network analysis approach in Indonesian Fisheries Management Area 712
Stocks concern in sustainable management is needed as an effort to maintain its availability. The objective of this study is to identify the stock unit of BSC based on Truss Network Analysis (TNA) of morphometric characters in FMA 712. The BSC was collect in five different locations, i.e. East Lampung, Lancang Island, Cirebon, Rembang, and Southern Madura. Measurements on TNA were carried out at 14 landmark points with 29 characters in carapace to analyze its morphometric characters. The cluster analysis showed that TNA method revealed two stocks units of BSC in FMA 712. The first stock was the BSC population of Southern Madura, and the other stock was the other four population. The longest Euclidean distance was found at Southern Madura indicating similarity level with other populations was low. The discriminant analysis demonstrated the different result. There were three group populations, which every population in one group were able to represent the other population, namely Lancang Island-Cirebon, East Lampung-Rembang, and Southern Madura. Regarding to this study, it is recommended to manage BSC in Southern Madura separately
Pengaruh Pola Pemanfaatan Ruang Terbuka Hijau terhadap Dinamika Perubahan Kualitas Udara Akibat Pandemi Covid-19
The Covid-19 pandemic has had a global impact on all sectors including the environment. The spread of Covid-19 is very much influenced by human activity and mobility. Human activities are also closely related to air pollutant emissions. High concentrations of air pollutants during the Covid19 pandemic will increase the risk of being exposed to Covid-19. Jakarta and its surrounding area (known locally as Jabodetabek) have high population density. These cities are economic and industrial centers. Air pollutant emissions in these cities are very high. High concentrations of air pollutants during the Covid-19 pandemic will increase the risk of being exposed to Covid. To anticipate this problem, the government made a Large-Scale Social Restriction Policy (PSBB). Limited human activities, in addition to having an impact on reducing the risk of humans being exposed to Covid-19 from the droplets released by tested-positive of Covid-19, also have an impact on reducing emissions of air pollutants so that they can reduce the risk of being exposed to Covid-19. Several variables that influence vulnerability and risk to exposure to Covid-19 are the distribution of settlements, roads, economic centers (markets, business centers, industrial centers), and human mobility. In this study, we will also analyze the role of green open space on the risk of exposure to Covid-19. Green open space plays an important role in reducing air pollutants so that it will also affect the risk of being exposed to Covid-19. This study aimed to 1) examine the distribution of air pollutants based on the vulnerability and risk of COVID-19 in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek), and 2) examine the results of the overlay between land cover and vulnerability and risk to Covid-19.Pandemi covid-19 telah menimbulkan dampak secara global pada semua sektor termasuk lingkungan.
Peatland management without burning: alternative restoration efforts in (re)wet peatlands
Sejalan dengan penataan hidrologi gambut, pertanian di lahan gambut fungsi budidaya perlu memperhitungkan zona air dari kesatuan hidrologi gambut yang luasThe last two decades, peatland management has resulted in susceptibility of peatlands to fires due to peat degradation associated with drainages, climate, and culture in opening peatlands. Rewet peatlands is the ultmate goal of peat restoration. Nevertheless, the needs for production in peatlands require a milestone to bridge the measure to restore peatlands hydrologically. Peatland management without fires is a method, and the combination with methods to supply nutrient in wet/moist/anaerobic peatlands would be innovative technology. It is aimed to provide nutrients of organic materials without stimulating decomposition of peat materials. Along with restoration measure hydrologically, agriculture in cultivation zone of peatlands shall consider water-zone as a specific and small unit within a wide peat hydrological unit.
Pendugaan Zona Potensi Penangkapan Ikan Pelagis di WPPNRI 711 (Studi Kasus Laut Natuna)
The sea resources is the future for the people of Indonesia, especially the fish as a main commodity. One of the potential fish are pelagic fish are spread throughout the waters of the sea of Indonesia. Pelagic fish is one of his life-cycle patterns of fish that move or migrate to foraging and also spawning. Based on habitat and the distance of the migrated fish, pelagic fish are differentiated into small and large pelagic fish. Therefore, the research on the distribution of pelagic fish is very important for Indonesia\u27s economy and the realization of a sustainable fish resources. WPPNRI 711 has choosen to be research location since known as shallow water which has nurient wealth of sea water. WPPNRI 711 consist of South China Sea, Karimata Strait, and Natuna Sea that to be sea waters of migration of pelagic fish. The research was conducted during of May and June 2016 in WPPNRI 711 Nagtuna Sea waters by research and training vessel Madidihang 02. The data taken during research is fish density. Analysis of spatial data is used to display the information of the regional fisheries. The results show that fish density is highest in WPPNRI 711 Natuna Sea waters was in the waters around island of the Tambelan Islands, Anambas and around
BIODEGRADABILITY OF BIOPLASTIC IN NATURAL ENVIRONMENT
Biodegradation of the bioplastic composite based on cellulose from oil palm empty fruit bunches was investigated in this study. Microbes consortium from landfill soil collected from top soil were used as the inoculums for the biodegradation process. Biodegradation test of the bioplastic from oil palm empty fruit bunch samples compared with oxodegradation and conventional plastic samples were conducted in the glass jar. The biodegradation rate was evaluated from CO2 generated from the biodegradation process and absorbed by 0.1 N sodium hydroxide solutions. The generated CO2 was titrated with 0.1 N HCl and using phenolphthalein (PP) followed by methyl oranges indicator. The results showed that the highest CO2 production on landfill soil indicating the highest rate of biodegradation was found on bioplastic from oil palm empty fruit bunch followed by oxodegradable plastic and conventional plastic. The rate of biodegradation for bioplastic from oil palm empty fruit bunch, oxodegradable plastic and conventional plastic were 0.067mg CO2/day, 0.052 mg CO2/day and 0 mg CO2/day, respectively
PENDUGAAN PARAMETER DEMOGRAFI DAN PREFERENSI HABITAT TANGKASI (Tarsius lariang) DI KAWASAN TAMAN NASIONAL LORE LINDU
Tarsius lariang, also called tangkasi is one of the endemic animals which is found in Lore Lindu National Park (LLNP). The threat to the tarsius population are the limitation of the distribution area, the escalation of forests exploitation, and hunting. People around the forest tend to think the tangkasi as a pest which eats cultivated plants. Therefore, population and habitat research is important. The purpose of this study is to estimate the demographic parameters and identify the characteristics of the habitat of the tangkasi, so that it can be known that the habitat component is important for the existence of the tangkasi in LLNP. The results of this study indicate the density of individual tangkasi across the LLNP region is 95.55 individuals per km². Individual density on Primary Dryland Forest Cover (PDFC) was 80.21 individuals per km² and in Dryland Secondary Forest (DSF) cover was 218.29 individuals per km², which still in normal level. The population density of tangkasi groups in the LLNP area is 35 groups per km², for the PDFC 32 and for the DSF of 54 groups per km². The total population of tangkasi based on age structure located in the research area of LLNP, PDFC, and DSF shows that the age of the juvenile is very low compared to the sub-adult age classes. It shows that tangkasi population is decreasing (regressive population). The preferred habitat of the tangkasi is the type of Dryland Secondary Forest (SDF) with a very steep slope of < 45% and altitude between 1301 and 1800 m asl
