Abstract The Tabanan District Spatial Plan 2012-2032 states that Pandak Gede Village has a role as an environmental center that functions as the center of a residential area that serves the surrounding rural areas. The increase in population in Pandak Gede Village has caused changes in the number and distribution of settlement areas. The reduced area of agricultural land can be an indication of the conversion of agricultural land to non-agricultural land. Given these indications, research is needed to find out how the conditions of land use change in Pandak Gede Village are seen from the social, economic, cultural aspects. Are there developments that are not in accordance with the Spatial Plan for Tabanan Regency 2012-2032, is there any indication of the conversion of agricultural land in Pandak Gede Village and how alternative strategies can be taken to minimize the mismatch of regional development against the Tabanan District Spatial Plan 2012-2032. The method used in this research is the mix method. The analysis included: socioeconomic analysis, socio-cultural analysis, regional development analysis, land use suitability analysis, and analysis of agricultural land use control strategies. The results showed an indication of the conversion of agricultural land by 18.71 hectares into residential and non-agricultural land. Alternative strategies that can be done are facilitative, reeducative, persuasive and power strategies to the government, to Pandak Gede Village, to community owners and buyers of land, to environmentalists, to further research and education. &nbsp

The usage of plastic has been increasing from year to year for its durable, lightweight, sturdy, easy to form, and low cost production, so that plastic becomes a popular material. Plastics have affinities with persistent organic pollutant such as PCB, DDT, PAH and phthalates that can damage the ecosystem as well as harm to human. In this study plastic wastes were collected using nets in seven stations along Baturusa watershed, sorted based on its composing resin (RIC), then measured the abundance and the density rate on each station. 36% of the collected plastic wastes are Polypropylene (02), and 24% are LDPE (04). The highest density rate of collected plastic wastes was found on Mabet river (1.36 x 102 items/m3), followed by Baturusa river, and Rangkui river estuary. These three stations are located near the settlements so that the source of the plastic wastes comes from domestic activities. The variety of waste management showed a significant impact to the amount of plastic wastes on waters. One of the plastic waste management for the settlements is to carry out 3R (reduce, reuse, recycle), such as waste bank programs and implement EPR (extended producer responsibility) programme. The successfulness of this programme can only be achieved by the active participation of the waste bank customers and the implementation of 3R principle in daily life

Indonesia is rich with volcanic tuff-derived Andisols that contain variable charged minerals. This research was aimed at to extract nanoclays (diameter <200 nm) from volcanic tuffs, and to evaluate their potential as natural adsorbent of phosphate as contaminant in waters. Volcanic tuffs were taken from the 3rd (tv3) and 4th(tv4) layers of an Andisol profile at the foot slope of Salak Mountain Indonesia using dispersion-ultrasonication-centrifugation-dialysis separation procedure. By dispersing the materials in an acid condition (pH 4.0) followed with ultrasonication, it could be separated positively-charged nanoclays (nc3 and nc4) from the negative ones. The separated nanoclays were then purified using centrifugation and membrane dialysis techniques. Potential of the extracted nanoclays as natural phosphate adsorbent was evaluated by characterizing their adsorption maxima (b values) according to the Langmuir isothermal adsorption model. It could be extracted 2.82 mg nc3/g tv3 and 4.29 mg nc4/g tv4. The b values of nc3 at 12, 24, and 48 hours equilibration time (76.48, 92.10, and 117.54 mg P/g nc3) were higher than those of nc4 (50.17, 59.52, and 71.99 mg P/g nc4). The most effective equilibration-time was 48 hours. The extracted nanoclays were considered prospective as natural adsorbent for removal phosphate contaminant in water
