No full textOne way to assess the success of collection development in the Library of Law Faculty of Gadjah Mada University (UGM) by conducting a collection evaluation with citation analysis techniques. The purpose of this study is to determine the use of UGM Faculty of Law Library collection as a reference source in the final work of students. The research method used in this research is descriptive quantitative. The sample of the research is 80 thesis of final student's work of Faculty of Law in 2016. The result of the research shows that the majority of references used using the book literature and the level of literature availability in the Library of Law Faculty is 64%

No full textThis research discusses the role of Librarian Forum at UGM. The purpose of this paper is to examine the role of Librarian Forum to develop professionalism and competence for librarians and to understand the inhibiting factors from librarians to actively involve themselves in the Forum. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the data collection method was literature study and interviews. The result indicated that the role of Librarian Forum in the last 3 period: 2011-2013, 2013-2015 and 2015-2018 has been indicated important to support 4 competencies in SKKNI (Standar Kompetensi Kerja Nasional Indonesia). But of the 60 activities, the core competence of “conducting information literacy activities” showed the highest. Challenges faced by the members to utilise the Librarian Forum as a professional development arena and competence was the schedule. Another challenges were that, the content of activities didnot match with what the members needed

No full textThis study aims to determine the characteristics and level of user satisfaction on the facilities available at the library of the Faculty of Psychology UGM. This descriptive quantitative study, population are users of the library at the Faculty of Psychology of the period from August to October 2016 with a sample of 174 people. Methods of data collection using a questionnaire, to determine the characteristics and user satisfaction of the library facilities at the Faculty of Psychology. Characteristic variables include: gender, study program, as well as the number of semesters that are taken when shooting data. Variable library user satisfaction focused on the following five indicators: collection, services, information technology, human resources, and infrastructure. Measurement of each indicator by using univariate analysis. The results show that: (1) Characteristics of the higher percentage of women (79.88%) than men (20.12%), undergraduate student of the highest percentage (64.94%) among other courses, and most of them (53.44%) has been studied in the range 1-4 semester. (2) User satisfaction on the facilities available at the library of the Faculty of Psychology UGM grade average score of 74.38% is included in the category of very satisfactory
Evaluasi Persiapan Perpustakaan Stikes 'Aisyiyah Yogyakarta Dalam Membangun Perpustakaan Digital
No full textThe development of information technology becomes necessary to serve library users, particularly to develop digital libraries. The aim of this study is to examine the preparation of the library of STIKES Aisyiyah Yogyakarta to build digital libraries, users and policy makers expectations, and ways to solve the challenges. Using qualitative descriptive approachand purposive sampling, data collection technique was conducted by using observations, in-depth inteviews, and documentations. The data was analysed by using validity of test data. Evaluation of the results was framed by the works of Ian H. Witten- David Bainbridge and Lucy A. Tedd. The results showed that most of the components were already prepared in the library of STIKES Aisyiyah Yogyakarta’ s in developinga digital library, however, but there were several components that need to be prepared better, such as human resources and time management. Several efforts have been and will be made to address those concerns to avoid failure to build a digital library. The idea to outsource should be considered. . The addition of experts from outside of the library as part of the team are needed to further strengthen the digital library development.The author suggested that the library staff continue to increase knowledge about the digital libraries, to overcome the technical obstacles emerged
E-Learning : Implikasinya Terhadap Pelayanan Perpustakaan Perguruan Tinggi dan Peran Pustakawan
No full textInternet, website, and online learning (e-learning) will give a great impact for the library. The library is located at the transition between electronic and printed literature, between traditional education on campus and online learning (e-learning) outside the campus. The progress of journals and electronic books also gives effect to all library users. The concept of virtual library can be a bridge between students or lectures to utilize library collections without visiting to the library. The virtual library offers the opportunity in supporting online learning (e-learning). The virtual library has the potential to change fundamental aspects of the classrooms by using the ways that can give great impact in teaching and learning. Technology changes the views of the librarians to their professions, the needs of students and faculties that will lead the change. The librarians need to be proactive in working with students to develop the collection and encourage students in thinking dependently and analyzing critically of available information. Now days, the role of librarian will change according to the changing demands of its users. In the past, the librarians only process the printed information but now they have to process the non-printed collections such as online journal.
Analisis Pemanfaatan Rumah Baca Apung oleh Masyarakat di Desa Tambak Lorok
No full textRumah Baca Apung located in Tambak Lorok Village is a valuable asset belonging to the community that can be used as meeting hall and village library. In fact Rumah Baca Apung has not been utilized optimally in accordance with the function and purpose of building a library. Based on preliminary observations of the researchers, can be knew that the location is more often used as a place for discussion by the local people.Therefore, this study aims to further study the utilization of Rumah Baca Apung and the reasons behind the utilization. This research uses qualitative approach of case study with using data collection technique through interview, documentation study, and observation. The results of this study show that the use of Rumah Baca Apung has not been based on the function of education, research and preservation function of a library. Rumah Baca Apung also has not been used as a place to increase reading habit. Rumah Baca Apung is now used as a place of recreation, a place to discuss, socialize and counsel for the local people. The utilization of Rumah Baca Apung which has not yet represented the function of the village library is due to the limited quantity and quality of the collection books, the lack of educative games equipment, and the absence of learning companion teacher as a volunteer for the coastal children of Tambak Lorok

No full textThis study aimed to examine the use, utilization ratio, and recency of journal publications in the country and abroad that are used as references in the thesis of Psychology UGM 2012. This quantitative descriptive study using documentation method for data collection. Study subjects such as Psychology UGM thesis in 2012, with the object of study of the entire bibliography contained in this thesis. The analysis was performed on 163 thesis, and data analysis using frequency tables and the counting frequency using a percentage formula. The process of data analysis with MS Excel 2010 program. The results showed that the use of psychology journals published abroad subscribed (12.72%) was higher than psychology journals published in the country (2.44%). Both of these percentages included in the low category yet. Comparison between the use of psychology journals published abroad and domestic use as a reference the result that the journal published abroad 94%, and journals published in the country of 6%. Thus the utilization ratio of journals published abroad are higher than journal publications in the country. Recency of the journal is used as a reference thesis Faculty of Psychology in 2012 included in the category of advanced as much as 67.76%, while the category is not advanced as much as 31.81%

No full textA significant development of open science movement has been witnessed in the last five years. This could bring a fresh start to Indonesian academia. The objective of this paper is to showcase the advancement of open science concept and implementation that can be adopted to increase impact. We did a literature review on peer-reviewed papers, websites of funding agency, open science blogs, and threads on Twitter.We believe the values of research output are not limited to a paper in a high reputation journal. Data is now considered as separate output, as well as, data management protocols, and laboratory notebooks. Publishing research results as a preprint is also used to disseminate findings as rapid and as fast as possible. Post publication peer-review is also added to the reviewing system to add openness, transparency, and objectivity. It offers credit to the reviewers. We also see the growth of impact indicators as the results of San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA) statutory. More initiatives and technologies have been introduced to make science more open, transparent, and inclusive.With so many developments have been made, therefore it’s not wise for Indonesian academia to rely themselves only to the old perception of research outputs and impact indicators.

No full textThis research aims to know librarian literacy information in the Library of Faculty of Engineering UGM based on the big6 model and to know the stages of librarian literacy information in the Library of Faculty of Engineering UGM for each stage based on the big6 model. The method that the researchers use in this research is descriptive quantitative. This research is a population study, where the entire population is used as a research sample. The population in this research is all librarians in the Library Faculty of Engineering UGM which amounted to 4 people. Data analysis using mean & grand mean formula. Based on the data that has been processed it is known that librarian literacy information in the Library of Faculty of Engineering UGM belong to the category well proved with the grand mean value of 3.20. From the stages the definition of the problem is very good with a value of 3.28. From the stages of information search strategy, classified very well with a value of 3.27. From the stages of the location and access stage, it is very good with 3.38. From the stages of the use of information, quite well with the value of 2.88. From the synthesis stage, it is quite good with a value of 3.21. From the evaluation stage, it is good with 3.20. This research is expected to provide input to the library to maintain and improve skills in the field of information literacy.

No full textThis study assesses the level of achievement of the information society through the implementation of the program KIM. KIM is the Kelompok Informasi Masyarakat which is a program of the Indonesian government to seek the realization of the information society in Indonesia. KIM is designed as a group formed independently so that the development will be an independent community group. The purpose of this study was to see how the achievement of the information society through the implementation of the program is reviewed KIM. So as to provide input to the government related to how the achievement of the information society and also related input KIM program. With a qualitative research approach, the method used in this research is a case study. The case studies carried out in two different areas of the rural areas and urban areas in East Java. Based on the results obtained, that the condition of the people is still far from the realization of the information society. The condition of society is still at the level of society aware of the information, even in rural areas there are still many people who are less aware of the information. It is caused by the KIM program implementation is still less than the maximum. There are many obstacles, so that the KIM program requires evaluation to achieve program objectives which is to make the people of Indonesia as an information society
