Sandwich Plate System (SPS) with Polyurethane Elastomer for Submerged Floating Tunnel (SFT)
Submerged Floating Tunnel (SFT) i.e. Archimedes Bridge (AB) is a tubular structure that floats at a certain depth below the surface of the water carrying capacity exploiting derived from Archimedes lift. Various studies have been conducted on SFT but but no SFT has been constructed yet. The most important for design and build for SFT is the section. Research for the tube section of SFT has been doing for oval and circle shape with steel and concrete for the material, the conclusion is the section of the steel material with a circle is better than the cross section of the concrete. The section of SFT, which is identical to the vessel so that it is suitable when applied methods used on ships. One method that was developed in the vessel is Sandwich Plate System (SPS). SPS is a lightweight material that consists of two steel plates separated by a core in the form of elastomer. Elastomers which began much studied at the SPS is polyurethane. SPS advantage with polyurethane as the core has many advantages such as resistance to chemical reactions seawater, vibration and noise as well as strong against explosions.The tube shape is circle where inside diameter is 5 m, length is 150 m. Wave height is 5 m and wave period is 1.2 s with seabed -20m. Wave load will be applied to the tube as hydrostatic wave load arround the tube and dynamic wave load to the one side. Anlysis using Abaqus 6.14 and obtain the maximum and minimum stresses in x, y and z direction occure to the hole of cable in the belt and yied at the point. Maximum deflection in z direction is 83.466 mm in the same direction of load and y direction is 9.83 mm to the up side. Increament the step time makes the displacement is increase too
Technical and Non-Technical Factors of Risk Identification for Sustainable Coastal Development in Malaysia
¾ In recent years, human casualties and economic losses caused by natural disasters in Malaysia have been increasing, with infrastructure development is becoming concentrated in disaster-prone areas. Urbanized coastal cities are also growing in number and size with high-rise buildings widely built along the shorelines. Every community is at risk from natural hazards, which creates an urgent need for public policies and strategic plans to manage the inevitable risks. Thus, this study aims to explore the technical and non-technical factors of disaster risks pertaining infrastructure development for sustainability along the coastal areas of Malaysia. It is also intended to find the common aspects of these technical and non-technical factors that can be built as an integral part of disaster risk management. Specifically, this study presents evidence using a quantitative analysis for classifying and ranking technical and non-technical factors of disaster risks from an open-ended feedback on a given hypothetical case study pertaining infrastructure development along coastal areas. The results reflect that the technical factors of disaster risks include engineering measures and construction of hazard-resistant and protective infrastructures, while the non-technical-factors include policies, awareness and the provision of information. Determining the risk factors that enable communities and policy makers make well-informed decisions for long-term sustainable development represents national and local priorities with a strong institutional basis for implementation
Sources of Funds in Light Rail Transit Financing
The construction of Light Rail Transit (LRT) infrastructure requires a large amount of funding, larger than the existing Regional Budget (APBD), and therefore requires a funding scheme with high financial feasibility to cover this financial gap. This research is aimed at identifying and determining suitable sources and their respective proportion for such scheme using secondary data from literature study and records on the capacity of funding sources, and primary data from in-depth interviews, descriptive analysis and analysis on the capacity of each funding source. It is expected that the result of this research can identify feasible sources of funding and their proportion to be applied in the construction of LRT.
Purification and Components Identification on Spinach (Amaranthus sp. L.) and Broccoli (Brassica oleracea L.) Fermented by Kombucha Culture as Source of Folic Acid Through Stirred Microfiltration Cell (SMFC)
Purifying spinach (Amaranthus sp.) and broccoli (Brassica oleracea L.) fermented by Kombucha culture through microfiltration (MF) membrane of 0.15 µm fitted in Stirred Microfiltration Cell (SMFC) produced subsequently both fermented spinach and broccoli concentrates with compositions of folic acid of 58.9 µg/mL and 28.1 µg/mL, total solids of 6.29 % and 5.76 %, total acids of 0.57 % and 0.93 %, polyphenol of 0.25 % and 0.06 %, and reducing sugars of 105.34 mg/mL and 66.09 mg/mL. In these conditions, recovery of both fermented spinach and broccoli concentrates mentioned above were 1.07 times and 0.64 times, 0.95 times and 0.97 times, 1 times and 1 times, 3.57 times and 0.85 times, 1.22 times and 0.68 times compared to feed, Based on both the best molecular weight (MW) and relative intensity, dominant monomer was reached for fermented spinach extract and gave folic acid fractionation, folic acid and polyphenol with MW of 219.57 Dalton (Da.), 442.99 Da. and 192.11 Da., and relative intensities of 19.78 %, 0.81 % and 1.65 %, respectively
Factors Affecting the Decision to Use Just-In-Time Method for Precast Components in Surabaya Construction Industry
Lack of management of precast components lead to decreased productivity of work. The use of Just-In-Time (JIT) method in construction projects aimed to reduce production costs, improved quality, and increased productivity. However, not all construction companies implement JIT on the Surabaya construction project. This study aimed to identify factors that influence to use JIT method decisions for precast components in Surabaya construction company. Data from questionnaires were collected and analysed using Relative-Importance-Index analysis and Confidence-Interval. The results of research that Surabaya construction company have knew and understood but still not implemented. Factors that influence at construction project were planning and efficient communication between all stakeholders.Kurangnya pengelolaan komponen pracetak mengakibatkan produktivitas kerja menurun. Penggunaan metode Just-In-Time (JIT) dalam proyek-proyek konstruksi bertujuan mengurangi biaya produksi, meningkatkan kualitas dan produktivitas. Namun, tidak semua perusahaan konstruksi menerapkan pada proyek konstruksi kota Surabaya. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi keputusan menggunakan metode JIT untuk komponen pracetak dalam perusahaan konstruksi kota Surabaya. Data dari kuesioner dikumpulkan dan dianalisis menggunakan analisis Relative-Importance-Index dan confidence-interval. Hasil penelitian bahwa perusahaan konstruksi Kota Surabaya telah mengetahui dan memahami namun masih belum menerapkan. Faktor yang mempengaruhi dalam proyek konstruksi ialah perencanaan dan komunikasi secara efisien antara semua pemangku kepentingan
Waste Management Analysis at Tps 3R Mandiri Sejahtera Singosari Malang
TPS 3R Mandiri Sejahtera using reduce, reuse, and recycle principles are established by government to solve the problems of wastes in the area of the district of Singosari, Malang. According to the monitoring and evaluation processes conducted by the Directorate General of Human Settlements, Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing in 2013, it shown that there were several things at the waste management at TPS 3R had been not in accordance with the Guidelines of waste management of Directorate General of Human Settlement. This research aimed to analysis waste management at TPS 3R Mandiri Sejahtera in order to optimize the waste management. This research using descriptive Analysis. The research result showed that the function of existing waste management condition was poor, with score is 167. The result indicated that by optimizing the service up to 3% in every year until 2021, the management of TPS 3R needed to add one tricycle, eight workers for separating waste and one worker for transporting waste and to enlarge the area up to 146 m2 from 578 m2 of current area. The potential optimization processes can be conducted by increasing the coverage of services by 44.81%, the amount of waste which could be transported is 22,30 m3/day
Seismic Behavior of Hybrid Coupled Wall System
Reinforced concrete (RC) couple wall systems, where RC beams couple two or more RC walls in series, are frequently used in high-rise buildings. Generally, coupling beams are made of RC materials. Steel coupling beam is an alternative for RC coupling beam which has a complex and and unefficient detailing construction. This paper presents a study on the use of Hybrid Coupled Wall System (HCWS) in seismic resistant high-rise RC structures. In the study, 25 storey office buildings with three types of coupling beams and three types of walls distributed over the height of the structure and located in a region with high seismicity are designed. Applying a performance-based design approach, this study developed an efficient design for RC structures having Coupling Ratio (CR) values 64.55% and affect the behavior of the wall pier in the upper region of the structure where widespread plastification and earlier crushing failure happen. Based on this findings, steel coupling beams can be used as an alternative with statisfying all performance criteria and perform at Life Safety(LS)
Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA) in Road Organization Application in Supiori Regency of Papua Province
Road plays an important life in human life in the present and in the future. Road serves to connect one area to another. Good road condition can support land transportation, development, economy, and government can run smoothly, and vice versa. Many factors result in road damage so that service life of road is not as planned. The objective of research is to compare two roads: Aminweri-Yendoker Street constituting the road in Supiori Regency Biak-Korem-Supiori Street constituting the national road connecting Biak and Supiori Regencies. This research employed Pavement Condition Index (PCI) to assess road damage level and condition and Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA) to determine the economic cost during the road’s service life. The result of assessment using PCI method showed medium PCI score of 51.6 for Regency road and 69.3 for National road. Using LCCA method, the most efficient road management to achieve the service life of the two roads can be determined
NOx Emissions Cost Assessment Due to Rapid Mass Transport Development Plan (Tram) in Surabaya
One program Surabaya City Government to repair the transport sector is build a mass transit rapid that one of them is a tram. The rapid development of mass transit is also expected to support the improvement of air quality in the city of Surabaya due to the effects of vehicle emissions. On of harmful vehicle emissions are Nox. One danger is the Nox can cause lung inflammation and paralysis. On the other hand, rapid mass transit development plan in Surabaya planned to use a portion of the road as the tram line. This will certainly reduce the capacity of roads. Therefore, a comparison between a reduction in the number of private vehicle users with the capacity reduction of the cost of air pollution in this case is the cost of Nox emissions into the topic of this research. The location of this research is Basuki Rahmat Street and Urip Sumoharjo Street which is one of the roads that traversed the tram line which is often congested. The method of calculating the amount of Nox based on the vehicle speed on the exixting condition and the condition of the plan. Based on calculations, the level of Nox reduction in the time before the tram operates when compared to when the tram operates on Urip Sumoharjo Street amounted 7.38%. While the level of Nox reduction in the time before the tram operates when compared to when the tram operates on Basuki Rahmat Street amounted to 11.81%. Then from the calculation of the cost air pollution, decrease the cost of air pollution due to Nox in Urip Sumoharjo Street is 9,185,321.87 rupiahs/year, while the decline in the cost of air pollution due to Nox in Basuki Rahmat Street is 14,664,554.40 rupiahs/year
Determination of Shelf Life with Accelerated Shelf Life Testing (ASLT) in Beverage Seaweed
In this research has been made beverage seaweed from main ingredient of red seaweed type Eucheuma cottonii with added other food ingredients that serve to improve the taste. In addition to labeling and commercially produced, it is necessary to determine the shelf life in seaweed beverage. Determination of shelf life of beverage seaweed was done by Accelerated Shelf Life Testing (ASLT) method. Beverage seaweed studied there are two flavors of original taste and green tea. Based on parameters of pH value, shelf life of original taste is 17 days and the taste of green tea is 34 days. The result is for storage at room temperature 30 °
