`STILISTIKA, RETORIKA DAN PEMBANGUNAN
Manusia pemakai bahasa merupakan ciptaan Tuhan yang paling sempurna. Kesempurnaannya justru karena manusia secara eksistensial bersifat labil. Ia selalu mempersoalkan adanya. Ia tidak pernah menganggap bahwa sesuatu bersifat final. Daur kehidupan manusia selalu berada dalam proses menjadi. Tidak pernah jadi-jadi. Oleh karenanya manusia berperadaban. Pertanyaannya, jika eksistensi manusia bersifat labil dengan ciri seperti tersebut maka apa dan bagaimana implikasinya terhadap pemakaian bahasa (stilistika dan retorika) dalam konteks pembangunan?Ada dua kerangka berfikir yang akan dipakai untuk menjawab pertanyaan tersebut. Pertama, empirisme-positivisme memosisikan bahasa hanyalah representasi realitas, mirror of reality karena realitas dan kebenaran dianggap riil-faktual atau alamiah-objektif. Dengan logika berfikir tersebut maka orientasi pemakaian bahasa lebih ke arah kategori benar atau salah dan baik atau buruk. Logika berfikir ini akan memberi peluang untuk dimanfaatkan kelompok atau golongan tertentu yang secara politik dan ekonomi dominan untuk menghegemoni.Kedua, logika berfikir kaum fenomenologis dan kritis. Realitas, makna, dan dunia menurut mereka hanyalah ada dalam kata atau bahasa. Dunia dalam kata atau bahasa tersebut hanyalah hasil berduel (retorika) dan konstruksi sejarah yang masih bersifat semu dan labil. Pertarungan atau duel itu merupakan konsekuensi logis bahwa realitas itu ada apabila sudah dalam bahasa. Bahasa sebagai sekretaris sang ada. Logika berfikir ini dapat bernilai positif-produktif karena dapat memberi peluang kepada manusia, masyarakat, dan bangsa yang sedang membangun untuk terhindar dari praktik-praktik sosial, politik, ekonomi, dan budaya yang bernuansa otoritarian-hegemonik
The Use of Box Culvert Precast as a Main Bridge Structure in Arterial Highway Road: An Analysis Study
A bridge is a construction that connect two parts of the road cuts off by both natural and artificial obstacles. Meanwhile, a box culvert is a rectangular precast concrete structure that has a basic function as underground construction in the form of culverts, drains, and other supporting constructions. Those function of the box culvert is now developing as the main structure in the construction of bridges and highways. Thus, a research and evaluation should be done. The performance of the existing box culvert structures is in accordance with SNI 1725: 2016 regulations. The research methodology is done by manual calculation to get the load and reinforcement needs, while for static analysis by modelling the structure in SAP 2000 V.14.2.5 program. The material used is the existing material for top-bottom box culvert type (4000 x 4000 x 1500) fc '= 30 MPa and fy = 400 MPa. The results shows the reinforcement does not meet the minimum requirements of strong box structure reinforcement against bridge construction loads. The reinforcement ratio in plate slab area are almost close to the maximum ratio of reinforcement requirements. Whereas in the box culvert wall area, there is an over-reinforcement so the dimensions must be increased
Investigation on Structural and Optical Properties of ZnO Film Prepared by Simple Wet Chemical Method
ZnO thin layer has a broad potential application in electronic and optoelectronic devices. In this study, vertically align ZnO layers were deposited on ITO glass using wet chemistry method. The seed layers were prepared using electrodeposition technique at 3°C. The growing process was carried out using chemical bath deposition at 90°C. To improve the structural properties, two different hydrothermal treatment variations were applied separately. From the experiment, it is shown that the hydrothermal process using N2 gas has given better results, compared to the conventional treatment
Effect of Volume Fraction Filler on Sound Insulation in Oil Palm Fronds Fiber Composite Polyester Matrix
In this study, the effect of adding palm fiber rods to the polyester matrix for sound insulation purposes was investigated. The type of fiber used is short fibers with random orientation with the percentage difference in the amount of fiber in the composite as a comparison. Testing loss of voice transmission using impedance tube method is done to know the ability of material to reduce or prevent sound. The data obtained from the TL test results were analyzed and the STC (sound transmission class) values were calculated on each sample. The best results obtained are in the first and second samples with the percentage of fiber 0% and fiber 30%. The calculated results of the STC values in samples one and two each have 32.1 dB and 31.6 dB which indicates sufficient ability to defeat the loud noise. Based on these results, a composite with a 30% fiber content can be used as a sound insulation material and can reduce waste of palm oil that is underutilized
Study of Organic Substance (Myrmecodia pendans) Extraction Using Soxhletation Method as an Organic Inhibitor
Extract of natural substance is currently being developed as an organic inhibitor. Organic inhibitor can be used to inhibit corrosion rate of metallic material especially steel. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of soxhletation extraction methods and the quality of inhibitor of Sarang Semut (Myrmecodia pendans) extract. The variations implemented in this research were the composition of the solvent-material and the content comparison of flavonoid compounds. The results of Sarang Semut (Myrmecodia pendans) extract inhibitor using soxhletation extraction method was observed qualitatively and quantitatively This research used soxhletation extraction method, simplicia Sarang Semut (Myrmecodia pendans) powder as the organic substance, and a mixture of acetone and distilled water as the solvent. Ratio variation of the solvent-substance composition used are 1:10, 1:15, and 1:20. Tests used in this study were Extract Parameters, FTIR, TLC and UV-Vis Spectrophotometry and weight loss. The highest yield was shown when using 1:10 ratio which was 13.943%, the total ash content and the lowest extracted water content shown at a ratio of 1:10 with amount of 4.26% and 4.2483%. FTIR test results indicated functional groups of flavonoids compounds and TLC test showed positive results of Flavonoid compounds which were characterized by blackish discoloration. The highest percentage of flavonoid compounds of 0.22025% found at the 1:10 ratio. The highest efficiency inhibition happened when weight loss testing showed 500ppm with the result of 84.3%
Kajian Traffic Separation Scheme di Wilayah Perairan Teluk Bintuni
Pengembangan fasilitas bangunan laut seperti platform, subsea pipeline, subsea cable, maupun mini FLNG di wilayah perairan di teluk Bintuni mengakibatkan penyempitan area olah gerak kapal-kapal yang beroperasi di wilayah tersebut. Pengembangan infrastruktur tersebut juga berpengaruh terhadap meningkatnya lalu lintas kunjungan kapal. Hal ini dapat berdampak pada peningkatan resiko tabrakan, baik tabrakan antar kapal, tabrakan antara kapal dengan platform, maupun kemungkinan terjadi kapal kandas. Untuk itu, pada studi ini dilakukan Kajian Traffic Separation Scheme (TSS), dengan tiga alternatif desain shipping lane. Kajian ini menekankan pada perbandingan tingkat resiko kecelakaan yang terjadi pada masing-masing desain shipping lane, serta mitigasi yang direkomendasika
Delays in Construction Project : A Review
Delays in construction projects schedule is one of the most noticed problems. Delays may be caused by several project parties and further categorized into excusable non-compensable delays (EN) caused by many factors beyond parties’ control, excusable-compensable delays (EC) caused by the owner, and non-compensable delays (NE) caused by the contractor. Another issue is concurrency in delays. The result of concurrent delay often leads the project parties into complicated situations. Thus, understanding the causes and identifying the types of delays are essential to be done before executing the delay analysis methods in order to allocating the liability of each party. This study concludes that some existed schedule delay analysis methods produce different results, therefore, the practitioners or schedule delay analyst should understand the anticipated results that can be accepted by all construction projects parties
Analysis of Zig-Zag Gas Inlet Design Effectiveness to The Reduction of CO2 and H2S Gas at Purifier Equipment using Four Absorber Types
Design of inlet gas in purifier equipment was affected on the reduction of CO2 and H2S.This study has been conducted on the analysis of the effect of zig-zag gas inlet design on the level of CO2 and H2S gas reduction in purifier using 4 types of absorber. Ferrioxide, iron gram, limestone (CaO), and natural zeolite were used as absorber material. The objective of this research is to determine which the most effective type of absorber in reducing CO2 and H2S gas and create an economical and useful purifier equipment for society. The results was found that the natural zeolite absorber was an effective absorber in reducing CO2 gas, CO2 content before purification was 40.98 % and after purification was 25.80 %, decreasing of CO2 was 15.18 %. Meanwhile, ferrioxide absorber, iron gram and CaO was not effective in reducing CO2. Ferrioxide was found to be effective absorber in reducing H2S, average decreasing was 16.95 ppm. Average decreasing of H2S in natural zeolite and iron gram absorber were 2.13 ppm and 0.16 ppm, respectively. CaO was found to be ineffective absorber for H2S due to increasing in H2S levels after purification
Pengembangan Prototype Software Real Time Monitoring Berbasis Data Automatic Identification System (AIS)
Perangkat Automatic Identification System (AIS) adalah salah satu perangkat yang wajib dipasang pada kapal berukuran lebih besar dari 300 GT. Penggunaan perangkat AIS dimaksudkan untuk meningkatkan keamanan dan keselamatan di laut (SOLAS, Safety of Life at Sea). Penelitian ini merupakan kelanjutan dari penelitian yang telah dilakukan sebelumnya terkait dengan pemanfaatan AIS untuk inspection score pengawasan kapal dan monitoring pipa bawah laut. Hasil-hasil penelitian tersebut mendasari pembangunan konsep dasar sebuah prototype software real time monitoring berbasis AIS. Prototype yang dikembangkan saat ini adalah monitoring real time untuk anjungan lepas pantai dan pipa bawah laut, skor inspeksi kapal, dan ship tracking. mengolah data AIS sedemikian rupa dan membandingkan dengan lokasi fasilitas anjungan lepas pantai dan pipa bawah laut. Monitoring anjungan lepas pantai dan pipa bawah laut memungkinan dalam kondisi bahaya, sistem akan mengirimkan peringatan dini melalui notifikasi telepon seluler, surat elektronik dan media komunikasi lain. Sistem inspeksi kapal bermaksud untuk memonitor lalu lintas kapal dalam daerah perairan tertentu. Oleh otoritas pelabuhan, fitur ini dapat digunakan untuk memudahkan dalam menentukan prioritas kapal-kapal yang akan dilakukan inspeksi. Fitur lainnya yang dikembangkan adalah sistem data historis, yaitu penampilan kembali vessel track dalam kurun waktu, batas daerah perairan atau untuk memperlihatkan jalur/track beberapa kapal tertentu. Pengembangan prototype software ini diharapkan dapat berkontribusi dalam meningkatkan keamanan dan keselamatan operasional kapal dan fasilitas lepas pantai/bawah laut serta meningkatkan efisiensi dalam melakukan monitoring terhadap lalu lintas laut
Design Proposal for Riverbanks Settlement Resilience through Respect to Site Approach
In urban environment, the growing number of population increases the high level of housing needs, while publicly provided housing is sufficient. This is the main cause of the emergence of slums. This design research aims to upgrade the riverbank slum into a green settlement with improved housing quality by implementing six principles of Green Architecture into design. Field measurement and interview were conducted to obtain data for simulation using Ecotect Analysis and ANSYS Fluent software. The result highlighted that resilience design conducted through respect to site as on of the green architecture principles has the capability to achieve compatibility between user and environmen
