Numerical Study of Savonius Wind Turbine with Fluid-Rotor Interactions

    Get PDF
Previous numerical studies in the Savonius wind turbine mostly used constant angular velocity as input data, where the values were obtained from experiments. This process cannot be used in the design optimization of the turbine, in which the angular velocity of the modified turbine is not known a priority. In numerical simulation, the use of loading system to get constant angular velocity to control the tip speed ratio (TSR), tends to have fluctuating value on output data. Moreover, the values of angular velocity shall be the results from freestream flow and Savonius rotor interaction. This condition can be simulated by using fluid structure interaction (FSI) method. Three dimensional Savonius S wind turbine is simulated using unsteady Reynolds Averaged Navier Stokes (RANS). Inlet velocity and wind turbine inertia are used as input data. The flow is assumed to be incompressible, viscous, and uniform at the inlet. The turbulence model used is the Eddy Viscosity k-ω SST, with y+ < 1. The domain consists of a sliding mesh, which rotates in the overset mesh region. Simulation results Power Coefficient (CP) and angular velocity and compared with experimental result. This study is resulted a standard method for the Savonius wind turbine numerical stud

Drinking water is human essential need. However, there are so many contaminants contained in drinking water sources. One of the solutions to overcome this issue is using technology to produce clean drinking water which called mineral water. Mineral water industries come to understand that maintaining quality is the fundamental principle to increase sales. One of the mineral water industries in Indonesia is company X. Yet it does not have a thorough management and supervision method to control the product quality. The quality management and supervision method is used only on several aspects of production and after acquiring customer complaints. This emerges the need of company x to form an applicable, comprehensive, and standardized management system. To produce high-quality mineral water, company X can apply HACCP method. HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) is a system used for measuring risks and determine the control system that focused on prevention. There are five primary principles in HACCP method. Accordingly from this analysis, maintaining the unit performance, adding more detailed SOPs, and employee knowledge enhancement are the main focused of HACCP method in company X. Therefore, HACCP is a suitable method to monitor company X production system and increase the product qualit

The aim of this study is to do research about non-financial aspect that has influence toward the companies’ financial performance, that will highlight the scores of companies’ ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) disclosure. Nowadays, investors take into account the non-financial aspect into their investment decision, such as ESG performance as a risk measurement. The mixed of results found in the previous studies regarding the correlation between company ESG/CSR and financial performance warranted us to conduct more research in this particular topic. We conducted research on companies in the real estate sector since its long-term nature of investment is aligned with long-term ESG goals. The samples of companies were collected from seven countries with the strongest economy worldwide, the G7. The financial performance is measured by both in the perspectives of accounting and stock market, which are ROA, ROC, Stock Price, and P/E. The panel data was collected over five years (2014-2018), using STATA to run multivariate regressions to test for the correlations. The results indicate that there is a statistically significant positive relationship between the ESG disclosure with firm’s ROA and ROC, but no significant relationship with Stock Price and P/E. Furthermore, we found that there is a statistically significant positive relationship between the Environmental factor towards the firm’s ROC and Stock Price. Lastly, the study also reveals that there’s no significant relationship between the Social factor and Governance factor with firm financial performance. The results show that a high transparency regarding ESG information could improve the financial performance. Thus, it is advisable for investors, company management, decision-makers, and industry regulators to consider the importance of the ESG disclosur

The development of Madura area has its own challenge due to its low development indicators which become the complexity barometer of development problems in this area. The development of Madura area has main obstacles, such as the limitation of infrastructure and transportation acces from and to Madura that weakens the economic development in this area. However, there are many promising potentials of the island that can be developed although until now because of its limitation, the development of Madura is not yet optimal. This research used area marketing concept called Strategic Place Triangle model with nine elements that are categorized into three dimensions, namely strategic (segmentation, targeting, positioning), tactic (differentation, marketing mix, and selling), and value (brand name, service, and process). The data that is used in this research is primary data (derived from questionnaries), and secondary data from some related institutions. The conclusion of the research showed that resource-based industrial sectors (agricultural and natural industries) are the recommended sectors that shall be developed in Madura area. While the segmentation result showed that there were two main investors, namely PMDN and Non Facility. PMDN investors tend to invest in agricultural-intensive resources and labor intensive (Sumenep and Pamekasan districts), whereas Non Facility investors tend to invest in natural- intensive resorces (Bangkalan and Sampang districts). Compared to its main competitor, Sidoarjo district, Madura has some added-value, such as inexpensive price of land, investment opportunity, loading and unloading harbor in Bangkalan district, and agricultural and natural resources for industry
