    Get PDF
Having a job is apparently not enough to ensure that the person is able to make ends meet, because the problem of unemployment is actually not the main problem of eradicating poverty. Poor people do not have the privilege of not working, they inevitably have to work to earn income. But the income from the work they do is of low value, so it is unable to meet their needs, especially basic needs. About 8.25 percent of working population in Indonesia are working poor, meaning they work, but the income is not enough to meet the needs. Using 2018 National Socio Economic Survey (SUSENAS) data, this study tries to dissect the labor conditions in Indonesia. The working population is still dominated by workers with low education, and there are still many who work as family/unpaid workers showing as a form of inefficiency. The characteristics of poor workers in Indonesia are male, living in rural areas. Still in prime age range, but poorly educated, only at elementary school level or less. These characteristics at the individual level are closely related to the mechanism of low wages which makes a person more at risk of becoming a working poor

The heavy equipment maintenance system cannot be separated from the problems of Human Resources (HR). Some literature has defined HR as a success factor for the successful implementation of maintenance systems. The Asset Maintenance Division as an organization which responsible to maintain the Company's assets routinely, including the Doosan S500’s 50-tonne class excavator. But in fact, excavators that are currently still operated often breakdown and its physical condition are in a bad condition. From the observation of 9 (nine) units excavators, the Key Performance Indicator (KPI) target was still not achieved, especially on the items Mean Time To Repair (MTTR) and Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF). Mechanic’s technical competencies needed in achieving KPI are divided into four sub competencies: Maintenance, Repair & trouble shooting, Remove & install and Overhaul. This study aims: analyzing mechanic’s competencies against company‘s standards, analyzing the influence of mechanic’s competencies on achieving KPI targets, providing recommendations on the influence of mechanic’s competencies for achieving KPI targets. The primary data used in the study were obtained through interviews and the questionnaires as well as secondary data obtained from various literatures, research results and supporting books. The method of processing and analyzing data uses the method of gap analysis and the Non-Parametric Statistics (Multiple Regression). The results of the gap analysis are known that there are still gaps in the actual competence of employees with competency standards set by the company. Factors that cause the competency gap are generally known because of a lack of understanding of the basic skills  required, mastery of work techniques and consistency in applying work quality standards. Recommendations from this study as an effort to improve the skills and knowledge of mechanics to improve work effectiveness that affects MTTR and the quality of work that affects MTBF so that the KPI are consistently achieve

Industrial Labor Social Movement against the Issue of Neoliberalism (Case Study on the Movement and View of Trade Unions in Indonesia on the Global Issue of Neoliberalism)

    Get PDF
In December 1999, there was a large demonstration in Seattle, United States which triggered large demonstrations elsewhere to oppose neo-liberalism. An ideology of the capitalists in uniting a world economy free of national boundaries. Neoliberalism policies also occur in Indonesia, such as through privatization, the application of a flexible labor market or outsourcing The problem discussed in this paper is how the trade union movement and response to the policy of neoliberalism theoretical studies in this study use Marx's Conflict Theory, Smelserian social movements and Gramsci's Hegemony. This research uses descriptive, qualitative type The results showed that there were two types of trade unions that emerged after the reform, namely moderate trade unions and radical trade unions. The responses of these two types of trade unions differ in their response to the policy of neoliberalism. The first union prefers compromise while the radical trade union prefers confrontational methods. The emergence of labor awareness about the dangers of neoliberalism is a step forward when compared to the image of the previous labor movement. which only moves at the level of normative issue

Improving supply chain management is one way to excel in competition. The selection of suppliers is an important part because the lack of proper supplier selection can lead to losses for the company. In its practice, the supplier selection process is more frequently based on a supplier that can provide the lowest price. This happens because the supplier selection process is considered to be at the operational level and not at the strategic level. The number of raw material suppliers on the construction project makes the developers be careful in choosing the material that is according to the developers’ plans. All this time, the selection of suppliers involves many factors, sometimes a supplier has a good performance in terms of the delivery process, yet lacks in terms of quality compared to other suppliers and vice versa. Therefore, research must be done with a method that can take the factors, both the qualitative and quantitative, into consideration. This study is conducted to identify the factors of the selection of construction raw material suppliers and the support of alternative decision support in the selection of construction raw material suppliers. The purpose of this research is to identify the factors of the selection of raw material suppliers and the support of alternative decision in the selection of construction raw material suppliers. This research is expected to help the construction industry, especially in the city of Jember regarding the importance of knowing the factors of the selection of construction raw material suppliers and the decision of the selection of construction raw material suppliers especially if the selection of the construction raw material is in the power of the developer. The method used is the integration of AHP and Vikor using rough number. This research is expected to facilitate the process of selecting raw material suppliers and the selection of its alternatives. The results of this study gain the order of priority of 9 criteria and 23 sub-criteria. The recommended selection of suppliers based on its ranking on the sand suppliers is sand supplier P3, sand supplier P2, and sand supplier P1. Meanwhile, the ranking for the coral suppliers is coral supplier K3, then coral supplier K2, and lastly coral supplier K

IPAM Karangpilang’s water quality has fluctuated and there are several parameters whose quality is not in accordance with the quality standard. Therefore, IPAM Karangpilang II needs to carry out quality control to maintain the quality of drinking water products according to the applicable quality standards. This research aims to analyze the application of the quality control system for drinking water products at IPAM Karangpilang II and look for the causes of decreasing production water quality at IPAM Karangpilang II. So that alternative improvements can be determined to maintain drinking water quality at IPAM Karangpilang II. Quality control method in this study using Statistical Process Control (SPC). Analysis were using primary data on drinking water quality starting from March to April 2019. Measurement parameters used include pH, Total Dissolved Solid (TDS), Turbidity, and Organic matter. Determination of a process controlled using control chart and then implemented using a fishbone diagram to determine the factors that result in decreased production of water quality. Control charts are in a statistically uncontrolled condition on the pH parameters in the clearator and filter units, Total Dissolved Solid (TDS) parameters on the clearator unit, turbidity parameters in the pre-sedimentation unit, clearator and filter, and organic matter parameters in pre-sedimentation and filter units. While in the production of water control chart in a state of uncontrolled statistically in the turbidity. Based on the fishbone diagram, factors that cause the control chart to be in an uncontrolled condition are that the overflow rate clearator does not appropriate with design criteria, technical errors such as clogging of the tube settler on the clearator, congestion coagulant pump stagnation, tube settler replacement in the clearator, seldom using coagulant dosage , decrease in the quality of raw water in the parameters of organic matter and raw water conditions that fluctuate due to the rainy seaso
