Analysis of Bulk Cement Distribution Network Considering Market Share and Operating Income after Acquiring the Competitor
The distribution network is the most important strategic decision issues that need to be optimized for the efficient operation of whole supply chain. When a company make a business acquisition that brings more distribution facilities, the location allocation planning of the distribution network needs to be reconsidered. The distribution network includes the link from factories to packing plants and from factories or packing plants to demand points. The linear programming model was developed as a solution to solve optimization problem which involves multisource, multiproduct, and multipored in multi-echelon distribution network. We build numerical experiments from two scenarios to show the behaviour of this model. This model will determine the decision of distribution facilities location should be used and quantities should be allocated to achieve the optimal operating income considering the market share policy to satisfy the customer demands
Factors of Competencies on Client Project Performance in a Public Transportation Company
In terms of producing good performance during company activities, an employee must have an ability/competency to carry out the assigned tasks according to their main tasks and functions. However, in its implementation, not all companies place their employees in their suitable positions/positions that are well-fitted with their capabilities/competencies. In the project client company, there is an allegation that the lack of competencies by their company employees is the cause of delays, poor quality, and the occurrence of disputes during the project cycle which causes the poor performance of a project. This paper reports several competency factors on client employees that affect individual client project performance in PT. K. The research sample of this study are employees of PT. K. Data collection using a questionnaire, the data on the questionnaire is analyzed using factor analysis. The results of this research resulted in 8 individual competencies that affect the performance of employees of PT. K formed in 2 factors. Factor 1 is a basic competency on individual characteristics consisting of technical/theoretical knowledge, procedural knowledge, willingness to establish good relations, psychomotor skills, job specific skills, tacit knowledge, and understanding of interaction and conflict objectives. In factor 2 of the top-level competence on the development of individuals, there are critical and creative thinkin
Development of Lean Assessment Tool for Healthcare Industry
The concept of lean is originated in manufacturing industry. However, this concept also has been widely adopted in service industry, from airlines to retailers. There are several healthcares or hospitals in various countries that has implemented Lean. The hospital that has adopted lean, shown various improvements, such as increase on efficiency and flexibility, reduction cost and infections cases. It is important to have lean assessment to measure leanness level after implementing lean. Lean Assessment Tool is utilized to measure effectiveness and efficiency of lean implementation in a particular company. There are many studies on Lean Assessment Tool for manufacturing and service industry in general. However, Lean Assessment Tool that is specific for hospital is not yet available. Therefore this study aims to develop a Lean Assessment Tool (LAT) for healthcare. First, quantitative and qualitative dimensions and indicators are gathered from literature study. Proposed dimensions and indicators are then selected and validated using the Fuzzy Delphi method. There are seven quantitative dimensions, which are quality, time, internal transportation, employee involvement, cost, customer, and inventory. While, there are six qualitative dimensions, which are quality, process, employee involvement, vertical information system, technology upgrading, and management commitment. Measurement method by using fuzzy logic to calculate leanness level for both quantitative and qualitative indicator is then applied. Leanness level will be mapped using radar plots
Analyzing Factors That Influence the Behavior Intention of Consumer in Purchasing the Surabaya Apartment
The supplies of apartments in Surabaya keep increasing, which was predicted from 2018 to at least 2022. However, this supplies were contradicted with the demand from market, which is stagnant or decreased. The present research tries to measure the consumers' behavior intention towards the purchasing apartment. The well famous Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) is used in this research as the measurement model. Furthermore, the TPB is extended with several factors. The extended TPB consists of seven factors namely: Attitude (ATT), Subjective Norms (SN), Perceived Behavior Control (PBC), Perception (P), Lifestyle (L), and the Behavior Intention (BI). Five hypotheses are proposed. The analysis on this research is confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) with structural equation model (SEM). The factors are instrumented through questionnaires. The questionnaires are distributed through offline and online sample with purposive sampling method. In more detail, the sampling will be taken from marketing events, brokers, and building management and the 300 respondents are targeted. The expected result from this research can be used as references for developers, consumers, and brokers in order to enhance the knowledge regarding the consumers' perception. From the results of the analysis of several factors from the Extended Theory of Planned Behavior mentioned above, it is known that the factors that are proven to influence consumer behavior intentions when making apartment purchases are 3 factors including the following: Attitude (ATT), Perception (P) and Lifestyle (L) while two other factors Subjective Norms (SN) and Perceived Behavior Control (PBC) are proven not to influence consumer behavior intentions when making apartment purchase
The Impact of the Trans-Sumatran Highway Development on Logistic Cost Efficiency
The development of transport infrastructures of the Trans-Sumatran Highway is the policy of the Indonesian government to boost the economic growth. However, on the other hand, this idea needs to be proven since Indonesia has unique regional characteristics in terms of natural, social, and cultural conditions that bring impacts on congestion, low levels of travel security, and illegal costs or surcharges. This problem triggers inefficient logistics activities which can be seen from the high costs of shipping, transportation, and administrative. Therefore, this paper aims to examine the impact of the Trans-Sumatran Highway construction on logistics cost. The result of this study indicates that there are several benefits obtained from the toll road development. For the manufacturers, they may get a faster shipping process so that inventory turnover is getting higher. High inventory turnover can make inventory costs lower. While for the transporters, faster travel times and smooth toll road conditions can reduce the costs of vehicle maintenance and fuel. In addition, the toll road is able to eliminate the surcharges that previously often arise on trips between Lampung and Palembang. This paper argues that the Trans-Sumatra Highway can enhance the transportation and logistics activities
Dynamic Simulation to Minimize Inventory Cost of Coal Considering Uncertainty Demand of Product
This paper briefly discusses the inventory management of coal in a cement industry. The cement company uses coal as fuel in the production process. Continuous production process must be maintained, thus the coal supply must be met to the production demand. In this study, we develop a dynamic simulation of coal inventory control system. We implemented periodic review system (P system) and continuous review system (Q system) method. Our simulation scenario consider some decision variables such as supply, variation of demand, and fluctuation of demand in order to understand the behaviour of the proposed model. This method is expected to provide recommendations for improve the inventory control policies in determining the optimum amount of coal in the warehouse and the optimal interval between orders with a minimum total inventory cost at uncertainty demand condition of product clinker and cement.
Market Reaction of Stock Split Announcement on Listed Companies in Indonesia Stock Exchange
The Issues of stock split is still debatable in the economic field. This is indicated by the mismatch between the theories referred to with practices in the capital market. The focus of the research is to investigate the determinant of the market reaction in the period before and after the announcement of a stock split. This study is designed by qualitative research by using theoretical review based and supporting by previously research. The basic concept underlyed the theoretical review are dimension of trading volume activity, abnormal return, and bid-ask spread. By critical review and classifying the result of previous research, the research found some propositions : (1) stock split have effect on trading volume activity (2) stock split have effect on abnormal return (3) stock split have effect on bid-ask sprea
Key Performance Indicators for Sustainable Freight Transport and Scenario-based Impediments in Pakistan Freight Industry
Freight transport enables economic growth, market connectivity, and access to the global supply chain systems which contribute to the societal progress and inclusive development of a country. However, it may undermine the sustainable operations by incurring external costs, inefficiency, and economic losses due to non-reliability, poor services, and information systems. In this research study, the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Sustainable Freight Transport Systems (SFTS) are discussed based on available literature review and standards of sustainability measurement in freight transport. Then, based on KPIs some of the scenario-based impediments are highlighted which hinder the performance of the freight transport in Pakistan for achieving sustainable development goals. The core impediments included are Strategic Determinants (SD), Information Systems (IS), Infrastructure Management Systems (IMS) and City Logistics (CL). The negative direct impacts of the key identified factors are also highlighted and linked with each scenario-based impediment. This research study would provide an opportunity for the stakeholders to get tangible idea for policy making and upgradation of the freight transport industry in the country. The highlighted implications will also be validated via expert surveys and Delphi-analysis in the future study.
