Pelabuhan Petrokimia Gresik is one of the element to support the goverment regarding to maintain stability of fertilizer loading speed. The issue that occurs at Pelabuhan Petrokimia Gresik is the low speed of loading of fertilizer in the bag for the past 4 years. The low speed of loading fertilizer in bag tends to affect its cost. This study aims to simulate the process of loading fertilizer in bag at the Port of Petrokimia Gresik in order to find out the factors which influence the speed deterioration of fertilizer bagging process and applicable alternative scenarios to improve the process of loading fertilizer in bag. Simulations were executed using discrete simulation methods. The results show that loading speed downturn are influenced by significant factors as follows: high loading preparation time at the dock, which consumes 29,35% of loading activity; the high loading time at the dock, which reaches 23,15% of loading activity; also the extensive duration of truck commute from the warehouse to the pier which utilizes 22,95% of loading activity. This study evaluate 7 alternative improvement scenarios. According to ROI perspective, it is preeminent to additionally put field internal control personnel at each shift when loading fertilizer in bag, which can increase the loading speed to 668,29 tons / day, of investment (ROI) of 68% will be obtained within 1 year and the payback period will approximately result in 0,60 years. The best scenario in terms of loading speed is to add internal control personnel and apply a new method of loading fertilizer using a sling bag with an increase in loading rate to 804.17 tons / day, following ROI value of 23% within one year and a PP value of 0.81 year

Inspection companies supporting upstream oil and gas business activities with multi-owned businesses are demanded to compete and survive in increasingly fierce market competition. Differences in the characteristics and scope of each business unit makes the company encouraged to be more observant in seeing the position rate of development of each business unit. A strategy is needed to ensure the treatment of each of these business units in order to achieve company goals. Identification, clustering and analysis of influencing factors affecting the company business performance are carried out through the stages of collecting secondary and primary data to obtain a follow-up plan for each business unit of the company. We use the real case in one of Indonesian Inspection Company. The method used in this paper is the analysis of strategy formulation in determining business strategies by three stages. First stage IFE (Internal Factors Evaluation) matrix and EFE (External Factor Evaluation) matrix are prepared then follow by IE (Internal External Matrix). Second stage, by assesment the following matrixes, we matched up with SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, and Threat) matrix. Finally the final stage is taken by using QSPM (Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix) to determine reliable strategy for inspection company in the upstream oil and gas business activities

    Get PDF
Overstock spare part in the Electric Power Transmission System will affect the inefficiency in the asset management of the company. While the spare part stockouts in the company will disrupt the maintenance process of the electric transmission system, which then lead to power outages. Overstock spare parts are caused by several factors, such as forecasting errors in material requirements, intermittent requests, so it is difficult to determine the optimal order quantity. On the other hand, the unavailability of spare parts will affect the reliability of the electrical energy transmission system, which has the potential in causing a massive power outage. Monte Carlo simulations help to show the more concrete picture of the spare parts inventory condition using a periodic review (R, S) system approach. Divination of the combination of S and R parameters is very influential on the success of spare part control. Spare part classification is used for understanding the demand characteristics and the level of criticism. Moreover, the analysis of simulation results will show the information on supply fulfilment strategies to overcome the problems of either spare parts availability or spare parts overstock

Iron and steel industry is among the essential strategic groups of the national industry since iron and steel products are not only raw materials for metal-based manufacture industries but also as pillars of development in infrastructure. The development of the iron and steel industry requires comprehensive handling; in the mastering of processing technology and the resources added value. The iron and steel industry is the “Backbone” in supporting the development of the national economy. Therefore, the Government’s role becomes crucial in developing the national iron and steel industry. Initially, the Indonesian steel industry was the largest in ASEAN, however over time, the position of Indonesian declines and no longer the largest. DAN is one of the three top manufacturers of plants and machines for the steel-making industry in the world. The unavailability of adequate government protection to domestic producers made imported steel products streamed heavily in all upstream and downstream sectors. This situation made the steel producer cannot grow and become stagnant in income; it cannot compete in costs; therefore, cannot invest and innovate effectively. The unavailability of the significant investment made DAN business in Indonesia become tough to grow. The purpose of the research is to develop a business strategy for DAN representative office to grow its business in Indonesia and choose a value proposition to the Indonesian market. To achieve the research objective, data collection in the method of interviews into Indonesia iron and steel industry stakeholders, along with a direct survey questionnaire into the experts to understanding industry situation and stakeholders' perspective of DAN overall performance. The various analysis framework, named PESTEL, Five Forces Porter, SWOT, were utilized to understand Indonesia iron and steel market, and company internal advantages and disadvantages in responding to it. The result of strategies is implemented with sequences: costing evaluation, financing support, human resources, partnership development, and investment

    Get PDF
PT Y is a subsidiary of Y Group which specializes in producing speakers for local and international markets. At present PT Y's orders have not met the expected performance targets. Fulfillment of production orders reached 97.55% of the target of 100%. This is one of the concern of Y Group that PT Y need to improve themselves because it can result in companies becoming less competitive than competitors. Based on preliminary observations, there was indications of waste, namely defects, downtime, and process delays. The lean tool used for further waste analysis is Lean Assessment Matrix (LAM). The results of the research show that the waste which gives the most significant influences are transportation, waiting and inventory. The root causes of problems between work stations are not ergonomic, do not have preventative maintenance schedules, there are no standards for handling defective products, the layout of the room is not in the direction of material, the carrying capacity of hand trucks is small, and the Outgoing Quantity Check (OQC) processes are not included in the company’s time standards. The proposed improvement recommendations include conducting training to improve product repair skills, relayout of production plant, and making a preventative machine maintenance schedule

Sensitivity Analysis to Determine the Prospect of Tollroad Investment: Case Study Krian-Legundi-Bunder-Manyar Tollroad

    Get PDF
PT Waskita Bumi Wira as the Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT) is investing in the Krian-Legundi-Bunder-Manyar Toll road with a viability gap fund (VGF) scheme. In the 2016 Toll Road Concession Agreement (PPJT) between BPJT-BUJT-PII, several acceptable investment variables have been agreed, namely: total investment value = Rp12,224,389,000,000, average daily traffic volume (LHR) = 21,874 vehicle / day, loan interest = 12.5%, toll tariff for group 1 = Rp1,250 / km, internal rate of return on equity (IRRonEquity) = 17.64%, payback period of 14 years and net present value (NPV) = Rp. 3,731,695,000,000. During the construction, there was a design change and a delay in land acquisition, this causes cost overrun. With a concession period of 45 years, inaccurate risk factors in the prediction of traffic volume growth rates, specific and non-specific risk factors and other uncertainties greatly affect the investment prospects. Therefore investment needs to be reviewed before this toll road is divested in 2025 by sharpening the minimum attractive rate of return (MARR) and LHR variables, then comparing them with the initial business plan. The estimated selling price of the divestment is also examined in this study. The investment valuation criteria that will be used in the sensitivity analysis are NPV and IRRonEquity. The approach in determining MARR is the use of MARRpremium = 15.81%. Sensitivity analysis with a deterministic approach is carried out to obtain limits on changes in investment costs, land acquisition costs, LHR traffic, loans (syndicated loans) to NPV in several tariff scenarios. This research shows that the NPV value is very sensitive to changes in investment costs. It is also known that in the toll tariff scenario according to PPJT compensation can be given in one of the conditions: investment costs increase by more than 7%, LHR traffic is less than 75%, or an increase in loans (syndicated loans) of more than 9%. The analysis of the stochastic approach shows that the probability of not exceeding the investment budget revenue limits due to changes of 37.29% to 46.56%
