Study on Introduction of Designated Manager System for Kominkans (Community Learning Centers) and Libraries in Kawasaki City
Full text linkapplication/pdf2023年10月13日、川崎市議会本議会で市民館と図書館の条例改正案がそれぞれ可決された。市民と自治体職員が協働して先進的と評価されていた川崎市の社会教育は、指定管理者制度導入という大きな政策転換をする。本稿は、その転換がどのように可能になったのか、どのような問題点があるのか、という視点から、川崎市の市民館・図書館への指定管理者制度導入過程において、外部有識者委員会の役割を考察する。具体的には、社会教育委員会議の会議録及び情報開示請求を行って入手した民間活用事業者選定評価委員会の摘録で、経緯を詳細にみていく。また、筆者が委員として末席をつらねている川崎市麻生市民館専門部会での、関連の質疑応答の状況も報告する。その結果、教育委員会に助言する役割の社会教育委員会議が機能しなかったこと、民間事業者評価委員会では、賛否を問うような審議はないまま「事務局案了承」になっていたことがわかり、外部有識者委員会の事務局である教育委員会の姿勢が明らかになった。departmental bulletin pape
Using Web Search-linked Advertising for Suicide Prevention : Patterns of Help-seeking Behaviors Among People at High Suicide Risk
Full text linkapplication/pdfBackground: By presenting advertisements during web searches of suicide-related terms, help-seeking behavior among persons at high suicide risk can be promoted. However, this type of outreach often involves more consultations with young women and less with middle-aged and older men. Aims: We explored the reasons for the low number of consultations from middleaged and older men. Method: The advertisement offering free email consultation was displayed between February 9, 2018 and October 31, 2021. We analyzed data extracted from Google Ads. Results: The number of times the advertisement was displayed was 2,688,805, with an average ad click rate of 5.48% and a conversion rate of 4.56%. There were marked gender and age differences in the number of times it was displayed but not in click and conversion rates. Limitations: User demographic information was estimated by Google. Conclusion: The main reason for fewer consultations from middle-aged and older men at high suicide risk is not the low click and conversion rates of the ads, but the low number of presentations.研究ノートdepartmental bulletin pape
An Extravagance in the History of Indian Tea : Signs of the Birth of Chaay (Chai) in Posters at Railway Stations
Full text linkapplication/pdfThis research note examines the beginnings of Chaay, which is now prevalent as Indianstyle milk tea in the tea culture that is prominent and deeply rooted as a necessity in the life and culture of South Asia, based on four poster images that the author happened to encounter and document during her and my travels.
The author has long wanted to know when and how tea drinking began in India, and the connection and developmental history of Chaay, which continues to evolve and is still consumed today .Here we explore the origins of Chaay, an unexpected bastard child of the Tea Board of India’s early 20th century national tea promotion campaign, which was born in a railway station as a cradle.
In 1920, shortly after the end of the First World War, the first generation of Chaay was born. This article traces the history of Indian tea up to that time and foreshadows the birth of Chaay, the tea drink that has swept South Asia.
Today, Chaay continues to grow in many parts of South Asia, but it has only been 100 years in the making.研究ノートdepartmental bulletin pape
Comprehension of Wearing in Pedagogy : Or Pitfalls of Clothing Education
Full text linkapplication/pdfWhy has pedagogy rarely dealt with fashion? It might seem that there are few affinities between pedagogy and fashion. Although the word ‘fashion’ might recall flamboyance, it is the way to express oneself and as a result the way to impress oneself. We are what/how we wear; that makes humans different from other beings. Fashion is part of the daily air, and hence it can be the primary lesson for children how to wear clothes. However, there are the pitfalls of clothing education today. It has taught about mainly sewing and washing, hardly styling. To express and impress oneself, it is necessary to learn not just what we wear, but how we wear.
This paper is on comprehension of wearing in pedagogy. In philosophical manner, it explores the educational methodology for children to develop competency of wearing as the primary lesson.departmental bulletin pape
Features of the Period of Introduction of Electronic Devices in Japanese Elementary School Music Studies : An Analysis of the Journal "Kyoiku Ongaku" from 1989 to 2007
Full text linkapplication/pdf本研究は、今日の小学校音楽科教育におけるICT 活用に資する知見を示すことを目的に、日本の小学校音楽科教育における電子機器の活用方法が、現場教員を中心にいかにして模索されてきたのか、雑誌『教育音楽』小学版を1989年度から2007年度までを通読し、整理と考察を行った。
その結果、電子機器を活用する主体を教員ではなく子どもに据えた音楽教育実践が存在していたことを踏まえ、コンピュータの存在によって、従来の楽器では発音できないような新しい音を子どもが探索する活動や、DTMやMIDI を活用した主体的な音楽学習を実践するための方途の模索が可能になったことを示した。それはすなわち、現在であればICTと呼ばれる電子機器を「学びの道具」あるいは「思考と表現の道具」として活用することの視座は、1990年代からの小学校の音楽教育現場に含有されていたことを意味している。departmental bulletin pape
Creation of a Confidence Scale for Communication about Contraception
Full text linkapplication/pdf本研究は、避妊に関するコミュニケーションに対する自信尺度の作成を目的とした。畑野（2010）のコミュニケーションに対する自信尺度（以下SCS）を参考に、「避妊したい場合の意図伝達」「避妊したい場合の意図理解」「避妊したい場合の意図抑制」で計15項目、「避妊したくない場合の意図伝達」「避妊したくない場合の意図理解」「避妊したくない場合の意図抑制」で計15 項目を用いて調査を行った。避妊したい場合としたくない場合それぞれの尺度の因子分析を行ったところ、「避妊したい場合の意図伝達」「避妊したい場合の意図理解」「避妊したい場合の意図抑制」の3 因子、「避妊したくない場合の意図伝達」「避妊したくない場合の意図理解」「避妊したくない場合の意図抑制」の3 因子が抽出された。いずれの因子においても、α係数が.70 以上であったことから、避妊に関するコミュニケーションに対する自信尺度の内的一貫性が確認された。併存的妥当性の検討を行うにあたり、畑野（2010）のSCS、石津（2006）の過剰適応尺度を使用した結果ある程度の妥当性が確認された。departmental bulletin pape
The Effects of Pedagogical Phonetics : Synthetic Phonics in Remedial English Classes for First-Year University Students
Full text linkapplication/pdfIn recent years, Japan’s English education policy has accelerated early English language learning and heightened content complexity, resulting in a 1.5-fold expansion in the vocabulary students must acquire by high school graduation. Prior research has highlighted vocabulary acquisition difficulties as a primary cause of setbacks and burdens for learners. This study addresses this issue at the word level by focusing on decoding skills involving linking sounds and letters. The potential of synthetic phonics is emphasized. However, its application beyond critical periodsremains poorly understood. This study aimed to ascertain whether synthetic phonics (used in early education) enhances decoding skills for university students beyond the critical period. Posttest dictation scores revealed significant differences between the experimental and control groups, confirming the effectiveness of synthetic phonics. Furthermore, an attitude survey conducted with the experimental group revealed that synthetic phonics enhanced students’ listening comprehension skills and English spelling abilities. Students also believed synthetic phonics should be taught in the initial stages of English language learning. These findings advocate using synthetic phonics to motivate first-year university students to enhance their decoding skills and vocabulary and recommence their English language learning.departmental bulletin pape
Food Regulations in the Pythagoreans
Full text linkapplication/pdf本稿は前作『魚嫌いの英雄たち──古代ギリシア文学における食文化についての考察』（野瀨2022）において行った研究方法を継続し、古代ギリシア文学作品に見られるギリシアの食文化について、考察を述べるものである。本稿では、古代ギリシアの伝説的人物であるピュタゴラスに焦点を当て、彼自ら設立したとされる学派「ピュタゴラス教団」で掲げられた、魚を含む多くの食品に対して定められた食物規定について研究を行っていく。ピュタゴラスに関する資料は乏しく、またそれぞれの資料間における多くの矛盾から資料としての正確性が疑問視されており、余り研究の進んでいない分野でもある。本稿において取り上げるピュタゴラス教団においてもある程度の憶測が含まれることは留意しつつも、前作において示したホメロスら古代の叙事詩作家たちが持っていたと考えられる食物に関するルールと類似するピュタゴラス教団における食物規定とを比較するため、今回の研究をまとめた。departmental bulletin pape
