STRATEGI KEPALA SEKOLAH DALAM IMPLEMENTASI PENDIDIKAN KARAKTER PADA SEKOLAH MENENGAH ATAS NEGERI 1 JULOK
Abstract: The ability of a principal in leading a school is highly influential in increasing the motivation of teachers. The implementation of character education is a strategy to improve the quality of education. The purpose of this study was to determine the efforts made by the principal in the implementation of character education in state Senior High School 1 of Julok. This study used a qualitative approach with descriptive method. The data were collected through interviews, observation and documentation. Subjects of this study were principal, vice principal, board of teachers and the committee at Senior High School 1 of Julok. The result showed that the principal has also prepared a program to implement character education. The implementation of character education improvement program requires each subject to make learning material according to the latest curriculum ang adjust textbooks of study field. The abstacles faced by the principal in implementing the character education were as follows: teachers still used the old teaching methods, tools and media, and the teacher did not dare to express desires and weaknesses in learning. On way performed by the principal of Senior High School 1 of Julok to overcome these obstacles is to call a meeting with the board of teachers, hat is monthly meeting, annual or emergency meeting if it is needed.Keywords: Principal strategic, and character educationAbstrak : Kemampuan kepala sekolah dalam memimpin sangat berpengaruh dalam meningkatkan motivasi kerja guru. Implementasi pendidikan karakter merupakan suatu strategi untuk meningkatkan mutu pendidikan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui upaya-upaya yang dilakukan oleh kepala sekolah dalam implemetasi pendidikan karakter pada Sekolah Menegah Atas (SMA) Negeri 1 Julok. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriktif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara, observasi dan studi dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian adalah Kepala sekolah, wakil kepala sekolah, dewan guru dan Komite di Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) Negeri 1 Julok. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kepala sekolah telah menyususun program dalam mengimplementasi pendidikan karakter. Implementasi program peningkatan pendidikan karakter dengan cara mewajibkan setiap guru bidang studi untuk membuat perangkat pembelajaran sesuai dengan kurikulum yang terbaru, menyesuaikan perkembangan buku pengangan guru bidang studi. Kendala yang dihadapi oleh kepala sekolah dalam mengimplementasi pendidikan karakter, masih ada guru yang menggunakan gaya lama dalam mengajar, baik dalam penggunaan metode, alat dan media. Juga guru tidak berani mengemukakan keinginan serta kekurangannya dalam pembelajaran. Salah satu cara yang dilaksanakan oleh Kepala Sekolah Menengah Atas Negeri 1 Julok dalam mengatasi masalah tersebut adalah dengan cara mengadakan rapat dengan dewan guru, baik itu rapat bulanan, tahunan atau pun rapat mendadak jika diperlukan.Kata Kunci : Strategi Kepala Sekolah, dan Pendidikan Karakte
STRATEGI KEPALA SEKOLAH DALAM PENGEMBANGAN PROFESIONAL TENAGA KEPENDIDIKAN PADA SMA NEGERI 5 DARUSSALAM BANDA ACEH
Abstract: The school head master of the school, who has a very important role and position in developing professional educational staffs. The aim of this research is to describe about the school head master strategy in the process of planning design, implementation, and avoiding program in developing the professional educational staffs at Senior High School 5 Darussalam, Banda Aceh. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative through the data collection through observations, interviews, and documentations. The findings show that the efforts being carried out by the school head master in planning was preceded by understanding the vision and mission as within it is described the future picture and insight that must be developed .The implementation of the professional development of education staff was through workshops, seminars, educational training, guiding through annual program, the implementation of the annual program, increasing the work disciplines, creating the loyalty. All these things were being conducted by the school head master, though in its implementation still experiencing the obstacles as it is because that some educational staffs at Senior High School 5 Darussalam, Banda Aceh are still do not deeply understand about their core works. While avoiding professional developing educational staffs carried out by the school head master is through controlling. Supervising, evaluating and guiding upon the program.Keywords: Planning, Implementation and AvoidingAbstrak: Kepala sekolah merupakan manajer pendidikan di sekolah yang mempunyai peran dan kedudukan yang sangat penting dalam pengembangan profesional tenaga kependidikan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan tentang strategi kepala sekolah dalam perencanaan program, pelaksanaan program, dan pengendalian program dalam rangka pengembangan profesional tenaga kependidikan pada SMA Negeri 5 Darussalam Banda Aceh. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan menggunakan tehnik pengumpulan data observasi, wawancara, dan studi dokumentasi. Dari hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa pengembangan profesional tenaga kependidikan yang dilakukan oleh kepala sekolah melalui perencanaan program yang disusun berdasarkan visi, misi dan tujuan sekolah sudah sesuai dengan unsur, syarat, dan fungsi perencanaan, dalam hal ini kepala sekolah telah dapat membuat program-program pengembangan. Pelaksanaan program pengembangan profesional tenaga kependidikan yang dilakukan oleh kepala sekolah melalui workshop, seminar, pendidikan, pelatihan, pembinaan melalui program kerja tahunan, pelaksanaan program kerja tahunan, meningkatkan disiplin kerja, dan membina loyalitas. Semua program kerja ini telah dilaksanakan oleh kepala sekolah, walaupun dalam pelaksanaannya masih mengalami kendala-kendala yang dihadapi, hal ini dikarenakan ada sebahagian tenaga kependidikan pada SMA Negeri 5 Darussalam Banda Aceh belum memahami secara mendalam tentang tugas pokok, fungsi dan tanggung jawab mereka masing-masing. Sedangkan pengendalian program pengembangan profesional tenaga kependidikan yang dilakukan oleh kepala sekolah adalah melalui pengawasan, kontroling, evaluasi, dan pembinaan terhadap pelaksanaan program.Kata kunci: Perencanaan, Pelaksanaan dan Pengendalia
SUPERVISI AKADEMIK KEPALA MADRASAH DALAM MENINGKATKAN KINERJA GURU PADA MIN 2 KOTA TAKENGON KABUPATEN ACEH TENGAH.
Abstraction: The improvement of teachers performance is strongly influenced by the role of principal as supervisor through academic supervision. This study was aimed at determining the academic supervision program of principal in improving teacher performance, implementing academic supervision program in improving teacher performance, and following up the principal academic supervision in improving teacher performance. This research used qualitative approach. The result showed that: (1) the preparation of academic supervision program was compiled at the beginning of the school year by involving the teachers. Academic supervision program was compiled based on the program faced by the teachers in learning process and adjusted to the needs of teacher, and (2) the implementation of academic supervision was based on the program that have been prepared by using several techniques such individual and group, and (3) the follow-up was conducted by the principal by giving guidance to teachers who have not met the standars and by giving reward to teachers who have met the standard. Based on the result, the implementation of academic supervision of the principal in improving teacherss performance at MIN 2 of Takengon, Aceh Tengah regency has not done well.Keywords: Academic Supervision and Teacher PerformanceAbstrak: Dalam meningkatkan kinerja guru, sangat dipengaruhi oleh peran kepala madrasah sebagai supervisor melalui supervisi akademik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui program supervisi akademik kepala madrasah dalam meningkatkan kinerja guru, pelaksanaan supervisi akademik dalam meningkatkan kinerja guru, dan tindak lanjut supervisi akademik kepala madrasah dalam meningkatkan kinerja guru. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian adalah kepala madrasah dan guru. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) penyusunan program supervisi akademik disusun pada awal tahun ajaran dengan mengikutsertakan guru-guru. Program supervisi akademik disusun berdasarkan permasalahan yang dihadapi guru tentang pembelajaran serta menyesuaikan dengan kebutuhan guru; (2) pelaksanaan supervisi akademik sesuai dengan program yang telah disusun dengan menggunakan beberapa teknik supervisi diantaranya teknik individual dan teknik kelompok; dan (3) Tindak lanjut yang dilakukan kepala madrasah dengan memberikan pembinaan pada guru yang belum memenuhi standar serta penghargaan pada guru yang memenuhi standar. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut, maka pelaksanaan supervisi akademik kepala madrasah dalam meningkatkan kinerja guru pada MIN 2 Kota Takengon belum terlaksana dengan baik dalam peningkatan kinerja guru.Kata Kunci: Supervisi Akademik dan Kinerja Guru
PENGEMBANGAN BUDAYA SEKOLAH UNTUK PENINGKATAN KOMPETENSI PROFESIONAL GURU PADA MTSN 1 TAKENGON
Abstract: Organizational culture is a key variable that could encourage the professional development of teachers, which in turn can improve school performance, success or failure of a teacher in the teaching and learning activities required good organizational culture to improve the quality of education. This study aimed to obtain data on organizational culture applied in schools so as to improve the professional competence of teachers. To achieve this study, researchers used a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Data collection techniques of observation, interviews, and study dokumentsi data analysis procedures are data reduction, data display, and verification, research subjects were principals, vice-principals, and teachers. The results showed that: (1) The development of a culture of discipline in obeying the school rules by principals can improve the professional teachers in improving the quality of school education, (2) development of a culture of responsibility by the principal is always met by the head of the school so that all teachers not play in carrying out its activities as an educator. (3) The development of the culture of shame by principals also continue to be the principal so that the teachers can not play games in the process of teaching and learningKeywords : Cultural School / Organization and Professional TeacherAbstrak: Budaya organisasi merupakan variabel kunci yang bisa mendorong pengembangan profesionalisme guru yang pada akhirnya dapat meningkatkan kinerja sekolah, berhasil atau tidaknya seorang guru dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar dibutuhkan budaya organisasi yang baik untuk meningkatkan mutu pendidikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan data tentang budaya organisasi yang diterapkan disekolah sehingga dapat meningkatkan kompetensi profesional guru. Untuk mencapai penelitian ini peneliti menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Tekhnik pengumpulan data observasi, wawancara, dan study dokumentsi prosedur analisis data adalah reduksi data, display data, dan verifikasi, subjek penelitian adalah kepala sekolah, wakil kepala sekolah, dan guru. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa : (1) Pengembangan budaya disiplin dalam menaati peraturan sekolah oleh kepala sekolah dapat meningkatkan professional guru dalam meningkatkan mutu pendidikan sekolah, (2) Pengembangan budaya tanggung jawab oleh kepala sekolah selalu dipenuhi oleh kepala sekolah sehingga semua guru tidak bermain-main dalam menjalankan aktivitasnya sebagai pendidik. (3) Pengembangan budaya malu oleh kepala sekolah juga terus dilakukan kepala sekolah sehingga guru-guru tidak bisa bermain main dalam proses belajar pembelajaran.Kata kunci : Budaya Sekolah/Organisasi dan Professional Gur
KEMAMPUAN KEPALA SEKOLAH DALAM PELAKSANAAN SUPERVISI PENGAJARAN DI SD NEGERI 4 PEUSANGAN KABUPATEN BIREUEN
Abstract: Teaching supervision is one of the efforts to improve teacher professionalism. The purpose of this study was to find out how the teaching supervision program, teaching supervision techniques, and supporting and inhibiting factor of the implementation of teaching supervision of principal were. This study used descriptive method and qualitative approach. Data were collected through interview, observation and documentation study. Subject of the study were principal, vice principal and teachers. The result showed that: (1) Learning supervision program prepared by principal including planning, scheduling, supervision model, supervision clues, feedback and follow up implementation. In the implementation, principal examine learning administration instrument such as syllabus, lesson plan, teaching and learning process, annual program, semester program, effective week, question item analysis. (2) Teaching supervision techniques was conducted by class visiting, class observation, individual talk, teacher meeting, and assigning the teachers for training, upgrading, and educational seminar. (3) Supporting factor of teaching supervision implementation were teacher readiness to be coached by the principal, the establishment of good relationship in school environment, in addition the principal can monitor the teachers teaching development or achievement. Therefore, the principal would now which teachers were successful and which teachers needed further coaching in teaching. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factor in the implementation of teaching supervision was the limited time due to the busyness of principal inside and outside of the school. Keywords: The Ability of Principal Teaching SupervisionAbstrak: Supervisi pengajaran merupakan salah satu usaha untuk mengembangkan profesionalisme guru. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui kemampuan kepala sekolah dalam menyusun program supervisi pengajaran, teknik-teknik supervisi pengajaran dan faktor pendukung dan penghambat pelaksanaan supervisi pengajaran oleh kepala sekolah. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara, observasi, dan studi dokumentasi. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah kepala sekolah dan guru. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Program supervisi pengajaran yang disusun oleh kepala sekolah melalui rapat pada setiap awal tahun ajaran baru dan pada awal semester mencakup perencanaan, penentuan jadwal, model supervisi, kisi-kisi supervisi, pelaksanaan (instrumen) umpan balik dan tindak lanjut. Program supervisi yang dilakukan kepala sekolah belum sepenuhnya terlaksana sesuai dengan program yang telah disusun. Hal ini terlihat dari frekuensi pelaksanaan supervisi yang dilakukan hanya dua kali dalam setahun sehingga tidak semua guru memperoleh pembinaan secara merata (2) Teknik-teknik supervisi pengajaran dilakukan dengan kunjungan kelas, observasi kelas, pembicaraan individual, pertemuan/rapat guru serta mengikutsertakan guru dalam pelatihan, penataran dan seminar pendidikan. Kegiatan supervisi dilakukan dengan dua cara, terjadwal dan tidak terjadwal. (3) faktor pendukung pelaksanaan supervisi pengajaran adalah ketersediaan sarana di sekolah, dukungan dinas terkait, kesediaan guru dalam menerima pembinaan dari kepala sekolah dan adanya hubungan kekeluargaan antara guru dan kepala sekolah. Sedangkan faktor penghambat dalam pelaksanaan supervisi pengajaran adalah kurangnya waktu kepala sekolah karena kesibukan dalam hal lain di sekolah maupun di luar sekolah.Kata Kunci: Kemampuan Kepala Sekolah dan Supervisi Pengajara
PENGARUH PROFESIONALISME DAN MOTIVASI KERJA KEPALA SEKOLAH TERHADAP KINERJA GURU PADA SMP NEGERI SE-KECAMATAN KUTA BARO.
Abstract: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of professionalism and work motivation of the principal on teachers performance at SMPs in Kuta Baro subdistrict.This study used a quantitative approach with descriptive methods. The techniques of data collection were done through observation, questionnaire.The study population was all the teachers in SMP Kuta Baro, the sample is determined by krejcie table, with a total sample of 44 people. The results showed that there was a positive and significant influence of the professionalism of principals (X1) on teachers performance (Y).that means there was significant influence between the professionalism (X1) and work motivation (X2) of the principal simultaneously to teachers work (Y).The level of the effect can be seen from the correlation coefficient professionalism and motivation of the school head on the performance of the school head is 0,003 . So there is a substantial relationship . Significant value ( 2 - tailed) is equal to 0,987.Keywords :Professionalism, Work Motivation, Teachers Performance.Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pengaruh profesionalisme dan motivasi kerja kepala sekolah terhadap kinerja guru pada SMP Negeri se-kecamatan Kuta Baro. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, kuesioner. Populasi penelitian adalah semua guru yang ada di SMP Negeri Kuta Baro, sampel penelitian ditentukan berdasarkan tabel krejcie, dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 44 orang dan siswa 44 orang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, terdapat pengaruh yang positif dan signifikan antara profesionalisme kepala sekolah (X1) terhadap kinerja guru (Y). Terdapat pengaruh yang singnifikan antara profesionalisme kepala sekolah (X1) dan motivasi kerja kepala sekolah (X2) secara simultan terhadap kinerja guru (Y). Besar koefisien korelasi Profesionalisme dan motivasi kerja kepala sekolah terhadap kinerja kepala sekolah adalah sebesar 0,003. Jadi ada hubungan subtansial. Nilai signifikan (2-tailed) adalah sebesar 0,987.Kata Kunci : Profesionalisme, Motivasi Kerja, Kinerja Guru
STRATEGI KEPALA SEKOLAH SEBAGAI SUPERVISOR DALAM MENINGKATKAN KOMPETENSI PROFESIONAL GURU PADA SMA NEGERI 3 SEUNAGAN KABUPATEN NAGAN RAYA.
Abstract: The purpose of this study was to determine the program, implementation, follow-up and the obstacles faced by principals in the implementation of academic supervision in improving the professional competence of teachers. This study used descriptive qualitative approach. The technique of data collection used were observation, interviews, and documentation. Subjects of study were principals, vice-principals, teachers and supervisors. Data were analyzed with data reduction, data display, conclusion drawing and verification. The results showed that: 1) Programs are arranged at the beginning of each school year based on the results of the follow-up implementation of supervision in the previous year based on the instructions given by the Department of Education. Teachers were not fully involved in setting the programs and it was planned twice in one semester. 2) Implementation of supervision begins with socialization activities for teachers and pre-observation meeting. Supervision activities were carried out by providing guidance and direction on the preparation of learning tools, learning implementation and evaluation of learning through meetings, discussions, individual meetings and classroom observations. Principal recorded all activities on a classroom observation on instrument sheet that will be used as input and consideration for guidance in improving teachers' professional competence. 3) Follow-up is done through discussions between principals and teachers to provide feedback from the results of classroom observation. Results of follow-up were concluded with concrete steps contextually as a way out of the problems faced by teachers in the learning process and as an improvement in the future to improve the quality of learning. 4) Obstacles faced were the supervision schedule was often shifted, the use of teaching methods were still centered on the teacher, the teacher felt clumsy when supervised and teachers were less active in seeking new information about learning.Keywords: Academic Supervision and Teacher Professional Competence.Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui strategi perencanaan program, pelaksanaan program untuk mengaktifkan kegiatan Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran (MGMP), strategi supervisi kepala sekolah dan kendala-kendala yang dihadapi kepala sekolah dalam meningkatkan profesional guru SMA Negeri 3 Seunagan Kabupaten Nagan Raya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui: observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian adalah kepala sekolah, wakil kepala sekolah, guru, komite sekolah, ketua MGMP, dan pengawas. Data dianalisis dengan cara mereduksi, display, mengambil kesimpulan, dan verifikasi data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Program kepala sekolah disusun secara bersama-sama dengan melibatkan seluruh personel sekolah pada setiap akhir tahun ajaran melalui kegiatan rapat dewan guru. Sekolah belum membentuk tim khusus dalam pengembangan kurikulum. Program yang disusun adalah: program tahunan, program semester, langkah-langkah perencanaan pembelajaran setiap bidang studi, model penilaian, kegiatan MGMP, menyediakan dan membagikan kalender pendidikan, buku tulis, dan alat tulis. (2) Strategi kepala sekolah dalam mengaktifkan MGMP adalah dengan memberlakukan absensi, pemberian insentif, mengikut-sertakan diri sendiri dalam kegiatan kelompok kerja guru, serta akan menegur bagi guru yang tidak pernah hadir. (3) Teknik kepala sekolah dalam melaksanakan supervisi dengan cara melaksanakan kunjungan kelas, observasi dan memperbaiki kekurangan dan kelengkapan perangkat pembelajaran. Pelaksanaan supervisi tidak semuanya berdasarkan jadwal yang telah ditetapkan dan masih ada guru yang belum siap secara mental untuk dilakukan supervisi, dan (4) Kendala-kendala yang dihadapi kepala sekolah adalah menyangkut tentang sumber daya guru, jadwal kepala sekolah yang sifatnya mendadak dan rendahnya motivasi guru yang mendekati masa pensiun untuk melaksanakan tugasnya masing-masing.Kata Kunci: Strategi Kepala Sekolah, Supervisor dan Kompetensi Profesional Guru
EFEKTIVITAS PELAKSANAAN SUPERVISI AKADEMIK OLEH KEPALA SEKOLAH DALAM MENINGKATKAN KINERJA GURU DI SMK NEGERI 1 MEULABOH.
Abstract: Academic supervision applied the principal of course very effective, because it can provide support, guidance and coaching to teachers to enable them to work better in guiding learners and be able to improve its performance in improving learning in schools. The research objective was to determine the effectiveness of the implementation of academic supervision by principals in improving teacher performance, through: (1) academic supervision program; (2) The academic supervision and (3) evaluation of the implementation of academic supervision. This study used a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Data was collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. Subjects were principals, supervisors and teachers at SMK Negeri 1 Meulaboh. The research found that:(1) The academic supervision principals compiled refer to the identification of the problems faced by teachers based on the results of monitoring the previous year as the assessment, coaching and helping the difficulties teachers, and SWOT analysis, then poured into a program Plan Supervisory Academic (PSA) according to the needs of teachers; (2) The implementation of academic supervision by school principals is done in three stages: a preliminary survey prior to supervise academic, classroom visits to determine the course of learning, and reviewing the results of the class visits and provide appropriate solutions in overcoming problems that dihdapi teacher; and (3) exercising their evaluation of academic supervision by the principal, includes evaluation of the job description and evaluation of documentary evidence, by means of direct view of the evidence that the task has been undertaken by teachers and then provide input if there are errors or deficiencies. Expected principals to be able to direct and supervise the performance of teachers, especially through the program, implementation and evaluation of effective supervision and efficiency, so that student performance can be improved.Keywords: Academic Supervision and Teacher PerformanceAbstrak: Supervisi akademik yang diterapkan kepala sekolah tentunya sangat efektif, karena dapat memberikan bantuan, bimbingan dan pembinaan kepada guru agar mereka mampu bekerja lebih baik dalam membimbing peserta didik serta dapat memperbaiki kinerjanya dalam meningkatkan pembelajaran di sekolah. Hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa: (1) Program supervisi akademik kepala sekolah disusun merujuk pada identifikasi permasalahan yang dihadapi guru berdasarkan hasil pengawasan tahun sebelumnya seperti penilaian, pembinaan dan membantu kesulitan guru, dan analisis SWOT, selanjutnya dituangkan ke dalam program Rencana Kepengawasan Akademik (RKA) sesuai dengan kebutuhan guru; (2) Pelaksanaan supervisi akademik oleh kepala sekolah dilakukan dalam tiga tahap yaitu: survei awal sebelum melakukan supervisi akademik, kunjungan kelas untuk mengetahui jalannya pembelajaran, dan mereview hasil kunjungan kelas serta memberikan solusi yang tepat dalam mengatasi masalah yang dihdapi guru; dan (3) Evaluasi pelakasanaan supervisi akademik oleh kepala sekolah, meliputi evaluasi terhadap uraian tugas dan evaluasi bukti dokumen, dengan cara melihat langsung terhadap bukti-bukti tugas yang telah dilaksanakan oleh guru kemudian memberikan masukan apabila terdapat kesalahan atau kekurangan. Diharapkan kepala sekolah agar dapat mengarahkan dan mengawasi kinerja guru terutama melalui program, pelaksanaan dan evaluasi supervisi secara efektif dan efesiensi, sehingga prestasi siswa dapat ditingkatkan.Kata Kunci: Supervisi Akademik, dan Kinerja Guru
KEPEMIMPINAN KEPALA SEKOLAH DALAM MENINGKATKAN KOMPETENSI PROFESIONAL GURU PADA SD NEGERI 13 KOTA BANDA ACEH
The principal is the person responsible for improving the professional competence of teachers in the school. The purpose of this research is looking at program arrangement, program implementation, and obstacles encountered. The research methodology used in this study was qualitative technique, and for data collection was done by way of documentation, observation and interview. The sources of data in this study were gathered from the principal and teachers. The result of this study showed that the programs used by the principal in improving the professional competence of teachers were to require the teachers to make RPP, syllabus, annual program, and prepare the teaching materials before the learning and teaching process implemented. There are two strategies used in improving the professional competence of teachers: Formal and Non Formal. Formal strategy were including teacher training, professional training, seminars, while the Non-Formal strategy were emphasizing discipline and motivating teachers. The obstacles faced by the head of SD Negeri 13 Banda Aceh were the lack of teachers and even some existing teachers did not master the IT, and the limited time obtained by teachers at the time following the training and so forth
KEPEMIMPINAN KEPALA SEKOLAH DALAM MENINGKATKAN MOTIVASI KERJA GURU PADA SMAN 1 CALANG KABUPATEN ACEH JAYA
Principal as a determinant factor of educational success in schools that have characteristics or skills that are conceptual skills skills, technical skills and humanitarian skills. This study aims to examine the policies taken by the principal in the field of administration, supervision and leadership of education to improve teacher work motivation. This research uses qualitative approach. The data were collected by using observation technique. The results showed: (1) the policy taken by the principal in the field of administration, done by providing direction and guidance for teachers relating to the management of learning that can increase motivation for teachers in carrying out their duties. (2) In the field of supervision to improve work motivation, conducted by providing guidance and direction related to the goals achieved by the teacher, guide the teacher understand the problems and needs of teachers, selecting tasks appropriate to the ability and academic background possessed by teachers and assessment of teacher. (3) Meanwhile, in terms of leadership of the principal as the leader of education in improving the motivation and performance of teachers in SMAN 1 Calang, Aceh Jaya District is done by fostering a harmonious relationship with the teacher and also with the community.
