Get PDFapplication/pdfSummary.In this case,marked root resorption of maxillary incisors on both sides due to impaction of maxillary canines on both sides was observed.Treatment for impacted maxillary canines includes induction in the row of teeth using fenestration and traction,extraction,transplantation,observation,and so on.It is necessary to select a method of treatment taking into account the position of the crowns and roots of the impacted teeth,the amount of movement in the direction of traction,and the effect on neighboring teeth and periodontium,as well as the degree of invasiveness and the prognosis.In this case,in the first stage of treatment,the maxillary lateral incisors on both sides were extracted and fenestration and traction of the maxillary canines on both sides was performed.Subsequently,observation was conducted till the end of the growth spurt.However,because vigorous forwards growth of the mandible was observed,at the start of the second stage of treatment,skeletal mandibular prognathism accompanying loss of the maxillary lateral incisors on both sides was diagnosed.In the second stage of treatment it was decided that surgical orthodontic treatment would be performed to improve the chief complaint.However due to the patient’s desire,surgical orthodontic treatment employing osteotomy of the mandible in isolation was performed.It was feared that performing Angle Class II finishing conducted with extraction of maxillary lateral incisors and no extraction of mandibular teeth would result in the amount of recession of the mandible becoming large and retraction.Therefore,treatment consisting of extraction of mandibular second premolar teeth and Angle Class I finishing was performed,and the canines on both sides were arranged in the lateral incisor area.We report that as a result of this treatment,a favorable treatment result and stable post–treatment progress were obtained.journal articl

Get PDFapplication/pdfSummary Full–coverage restorations made of titanium have been covered by Japanese health insurance since June 1,2020,considering the sharp rise in the prices of precious metals and presence of metal allergies.We expect clinical applications of titanium restorations to in -crease in the future.However, due to its high melting point and high affinity for oxygen at high temperatures, titanium has not been widely used in prosthetic clinical cases.We reported the actual use of full–coverage metal restorations surveyed from medical records and dental technician slips at Matsumoto Dental University Hospital in 2020.This study aimed to survey it in 2021.Patients who had full–coverage metal restorations placed on their molars from January 4 to December 29,2021 were consecutively enrolled, and data on the type of metal, placement site, and time were recorded. In all, 627 molars received full–coverage metal restorations.A titanium crown (Ti–R)was used in 192 cases, and a 12% Au–Pd–Ag alloy crown (Pd–R) in 435 cases;99 upper and 93 lower teeth, and 92 first,93 second,and seven third molars received Ti–Rs,208 upper and 227 lower teeth,233 first,197 second,and five third molars received Pd–Rs.The number of patients who received Ti–Rs in 2021 was higher than in 2020,suggesting that Ti–Rs will be a widely used for metal allergy–friendly prosthetics in the future.We plan to continue the survey and study the prognosisjournal articl

Get PDFapplication/pdfSummary.The majority of accidental ingestions and aspirations of dental foreign bodies occur during dental treatment.However,most of them are naturally excreted without any problem although the time to excretion varies.Among dental foreign bodies,removable partial dentures involve the risk of causing perforation of the digestive tract due to the morphology of the clasp;therefore,improper treatment or measures may cause serious complications.Now,there are increasing opportunities to proactively use an endoscope to remove foreignsubstances from the gastrointestinal tract.We report a case of accidental ingestion of a removable partial denture,extracted by upper gastrointestinal endoscopy.It is important to remove blunt foreign substances by endoscopy at an early stage.Simultaneously,it is imperative to enhance cooperation between dentistry and medicine and take appropriate measures.journal articl

Contribution of transglutaminases and their substrate proteins to the formation of cornified cell envelope in oral mucosal epithelium
Get PDF松本歯科大学博士（歯学）2021甲第246号application/pdfCornified envelope formation is crucial for the final differentiation of keratinized epithelium.However,the mechanisms of cornified envelope formation in the oral epithelium remain unclear.The aim of this study was to clarify the differences in the distribution and expression of cornified envelope related proteins and genes between keratinized and non-keratinized oral epithelia.We immunohistochemically investigated the distribution patterns of transglutaminase1(TG1),transglutaminase3(TG3),and their substrate proteins involucrin(IVL),loricrin(LOR),and small pro[1]line rich proteins(SPRs),in 19 keratinized and 14 non-keratinized oral epithelium samples.TG1 and TG3 mRNA levels were investigated in both types of epithelium by real time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)using paraf[1]fin-embedded specimens.Data were analyzed to identify factors involved in cornified envelope formation.We demonstrate that 11 localization patterns show statistically significant differences between keratinized and non-keratinized oral epithelia.These factors clearly drove the separation of the two groups during cluster analysis.TG1 mRNA levels in keratinized oral epithelium were significantly higher than those in non-keratinized oral epithelium.In conclusion,the characteristic distribution of trans[1]glutaminases and their substrates and the mRNA levels of TG1 can regulate cornified envelope formation in keratinized oral epithelium, together with the contribution of TG3 first reported in this paperdoctoral thesi
歯科補綴学実習におけるインプラント埋入実習導入効果の検証
Get PDFapplication/pdfSummary Matsumoto Dental University has been offering lectures on oral implantology to fourth– year dental students since 2007 and a hands–on program since 2019 as part of it’s under graduate program. In order to evaluate the educational effects of oral implantology and identify areas for improvement, 85 fourth–year dental students (59 males and 26 females) in the 2020–2021 academic year and 78 fourth–year dental students (54 males and 24 females) in the 2021–2022academic year were enrolled as subjects, and questionnaires were administered after the hands–on training.The questionnaire surveyed the interest in this program, the level of understanding, and the usefulness of implant treatment for their future. As statistical analysis,anindependent sample t–test was used to examine the questionnaire results of the years at a significance level of 5%.There was no significant difference in any of the items.The level of understanding and interest in content was high in both years.These results suggest that this hands–on program will help teach students oral implantology.journal articl
