application/pdfThe clinical and histopathological features of two cases of cemento-ossifying fibroma were reported in this paper. In the first case, the lesion appeared at the lower right molar region of a 25-year-old woman. Radiographic examination revealed that this area had a well demarcated radiolucent lesion, containing small radiopaque spots (Fig. 1). In the second case, the lesion appeared at the upper right molar region of a 41-year-old woman. Radiographic examination showed that this area had a radiopaque lesion (Fig. 2.). Histopathological findings from resected specimens of these two cases revealed that both were composed of soft fibroma containing cementicles and small bone tissues (Figs. 3-8). So that they were diagnosed as cemento-ossifying fibroma.journal articl

application/pdfIn 1968 a 60-year-old female, suffered from acute suppurative mandibular osteomyelitis, had been treated by extraction of 456 with sufficient doses of antibiotics. After the lesions healed upper and lower full dentures were set. They were reconstructed after 6 months and one year respectively because of esthetics. In February 1975, she returned to the clinic with complaint of painless severe bleeding from the palatal mucosa, which had commenced about half a year previously. It was found that bleeding was mainly from many spots of 1-4 mm in diameter, which were not considered decubitus. No hemorrhagic diathese nor other systemic ill was found in blood examinations and doctors' consultation. It was diagnosed as either acquired local capillary damage by the full denture, or stomatitis or inflammation of small salivary glands which might be prolonged by wearing full denture. Hemostatics, local treatment and rebasing the denture were rendered. As repeated rebasing by the Soft-liner every 1-2 weeks or by the Hydro-cast every one month did not exerted favorable results, palatinaeless denture was made, and which finally improved hemorrhage after 17 months onset.journal articl

application/pdfThermal deformation of the mold was studied by means of the finite element method. The mold was prepared with phosphate or gypsum bonded investments, lined with a sheet of silica-alumina fiber or asbestos ribbon. Results were follows; 1. Mold lined with a sheet of silica-alumina fiber, was expanded without deformation. This result obtained from any kinds of investments and any variations of the mold form. 2. Mold prepared with phosphate bonded investment, was expanded similarly to its original form during heat. 3. Full crown type mold, prepared with gypsum bonded investment and lined with asbestos ribbon, was deformed by heating. In this mold, the inside part of the occusal surface was spread out more than the inside marginal part. The outside was shrinked by thermal expanding pressure with cocave deformation. 4. Bridge type mold, prepared with gypsum bonded investment and lined with asbestos ribbon, was deformed by heating. The mold of the dummy was not changed through thermal expansion. But the inside diameter of the crown was enlarged. The inside marginal wall of the crown neighbored to the dummy was expanded smaller than the inside occulusal wall, but the oposite wall was expanded similarly.journal articl

application/pdfThe lesion appeared at the root apex of the lower left third molar of a 63-year-old woman. The molar was half-impacted, laying horizontally, and only distal cusps were erupted (Fig. 1). Histopathological findings from extracted specimen were as follow. Cementum on the medial side of root was proliferated (Fig. 2). The cementum consisted of cellular regular lamellated (Fig. 3 cr), cellular irregular lamellated (Fig. 3 ci) and acellular tumorous cementum (Fig. 4) in outward order. These findings suggested that this lesion started as hypercementosis and then changed to a gigantiform cementma.journal articl

application/pdfA case of a three-rooted lower first premolar almost without wear was observed. Results are as follows. 1. In this case, the length, mesio-distal diameter and labio-lingual diameter of the crown were longer than those of the normal premolar in the Japanese. 2. The length overall was little shorter and length of the root was much shorter than those of the normal premolar. 3. When roots were measured from the separating point, the mesio-buccal root was the longest and the disto-buccal root was the shortest. 4. This tooth had three root canals. They were separated from the middl of the root.journal articl

application/pdfA dermoid cyst appeared in the floor of a the mouth of a 47-year-old woman (Figs. 1, 2). Incision of the resected specimen (Fig. 3) revealed that it contained many small globular inclusions (Fig. 4). The cyst wall had a lining of stratified squamous epithelium and sebaceous glands (Fig. 5) and foreign body giant cells (Fig. 6). Therefore, it was diagnosed histopathologically as dermoid cyst. Histochemical and biochemical analyses about the globular inclusions (Figs. 4, 7) showed that they consisted mainly of lipids especially cholesterol (Fig. 10; Table 1) and partly of proteins excepting collagen fibers (Fig. 9; Table 2) and polysaccharides (Fig. 8).journal articl
