Get PDFapplication/pdfVarious globular materials appeared in the stroma of a low malignancy type of mucoepidermoid carcinoma (24-year-old woman: MDC 073-76) were studied by electron microscopy and by x-ray microanalytic method. Results were as follows: 1. These globular materials may be classified into five types. 2. Type I was electron-lucid vesicle with unit membrane, and was considered to have matrix vesicle-like functions. 3. Type II was electron-lucid globular materials with a electron-dense periphery, which had no evidence of calcification. 4. Type III was closed or round layer structure being composed of minute granular crystals. 5. Type IV was globular material, composed of both minute granular and needle-like crystals. 6. Type V was globular material only with developing needle-like crystals. 7. Type III and IV were mainly composed of P and Ca, therefore these structures were thought to be calcified. 8. It was considered that type V was similar to the matrix vesicle in initiation site of bone calcification, according to its ultrastructure and the results of analysis.journal articl

Get PDFapplication/pdfA tooth fragment found in food was investigated morphologically to identify the animal species and tooth kind. After that, the blood group of the material was examinated. The results were as follows: 1) The material was identified as a human permanent tooth based upon the shapes of enamel rods and peritubular matrix in dentin. Although it was closely allied to the upper left molar, the kind of tooth was undistinguishable, because the fragment was too small. 2) It was supposed that the patient would be more than 50 years old according to the heavy attrition, and might be female from its imagined bigness. 3) The blood group of the tooth fragment was judged as AB in the ABO-blood group system.journal articl

Get PDFapplication/pdfTwo cases of mucoepidermoid carcinoma were reported in this paper. The one was appeared in the soft palate of a 24-year-old female, belonging low grade malignant type. The other occurred in the maxillary sinus of a 48-year-old male, and was thought to be in high grade malignant type. An analysis of 30 cases of the tumor appeared in the palate and maxillary sinus, reported in Japan last 10 years, revealed that the cases of the palate had tendency to belong to low grade malignant type, while the cases of maxillary sinus were in high grade malignant type.journal articl

Get PDFapplication/pdfThis paper is a case report of functional Class III malocclusion treated by lingual arch appliance and edgewise appliance. Characteristics of this malocclusion are as follows; 1) lingual inclination of upperincisors 2) normal or slight lingual inclination of lower incisors 3) anterior displacement of mandible. The objectives of teatment at the first stage are to correct anterior cross bite and to guide favorable jaw growth. Lingual arch appliance can flare upper inceisors easier than labial arch appliance such as edgewise appliance and also is invisible. Lingual arch appliance is an ideal tool for functional Class III cases with Angle Class II molar relation at centric occlusion, because this appliance can move the upper first molar distally as a favorable side effect of flaring the upper incisosrs.journal articl

Get PDFapplication/pdf乳前歯の修復治療を受けた2-7歳の小児歯科患者105名とその母親とを対象として,前歯の審美的影響についての意識調査を質問紙法で行い,下記の結果を得た.1.来院の動機として「痛くはなかったが,ムシ歯ができたのでその治療のため」と答えた者が全体の2/3近くもあり,母親の歯科的健康についての意識の向上がうかがわれた.2.約半数の者が,真先に治療してほしい部位として「上の前歯」を挙げた.また,その理由として「みっともないから」が,母親では3位,子ども自身では1位を占め,上顎前歯の審美的修復の要求が極めて強く存在することが明らかとなった.3.前歯の状態が子どもの心理や行動に及ぼす影響については,1-2歳児では必ずしも明らかではないが,3歳半以降では,ムシ歯や薬物塗布による黒変が消極的な行動特性と関係し,それがきれいに修復されることにより劇的な行動変化を生じることを認めた母親が少なくなかった.家庭や保育園などのエピソードが数多く報告され,特に子どもの対人関係において大きな影響があることが明らかにされた.4.圧倒的多数の母親が,子どもの前歯の状態が心理や行動に影響を及ぼすことが認め,「どんな子どもでもきちんときれいに」治してほしいと望んでいた.「乳歯だから齲蝕の進行抑制のみでよい」との答えはわずか2%にすぎなかったjournal articl

Get PDFapplication/pdfUsing disected materials from two cases of mucoepidermoid carcinoma, the ultrastructural appearances of tumor cells were studied. Ultrastructural atypy of the nuclei and the cytoplasms appeared in both cases of tumor cells. It was considered that the existance of ultrastructural atypy proved this neoplasm to be a true malignant tumor. Based upon the above mentioned results, the biological behavior of this neoplasm was discussed. It was determined that the name of this neoplasm was mucoepidermoid carcinoma, and was classified into two groups : the well-differentiated (low-malignant) type and the undifferentiated (high-malignant) type.journal articl
