application/pdfThe transition of the 638 wisdom teeth of 227 undergraduate students (239 males and 38 females) during the year 1983-1984 was investigated and compared with the results obtained in the reports I and II. 1) About 90.6% of the students were 20 to 25 years old. 2) The members of eruption teeth with complete and incomplete root apices in the maxillo-mandible were 1550 and 79 respectively. In impact teeth, the number of the teeth with complete root apices was 593 and that of the teeth with incomplete root apices was 192. This indicates that complete root apices are more numerous in eruption teeth than in impact teeth. 3) The inclination of most of wisdom teeth in the maxilla are vertical. The mandible also tended to have more vertical wisdom teeth. 4) Wisdom teeth did not appear to be utilized as the teeth for restoration. 5) The number of wisdom teeth that had received surgical treatment was 646. Their classification is as follows; anti-inflammatory drugs (+) and extraction (-)……33 teeth anti-inflammatory drugs (+) and extraction (+)……47 teeth anti-inflammatory drugs (-) and extraction (+)……566 teethjournal articl

application/pdfExamination, diagnosis, and treatment planning must be done very carefully before the insertion of an implant, but, no general rules have yet been established on them. In order to accumulate the fundamental data necessary for evaluating the results of implants, we examined the study casts, working casts, and post-operative casts of shape memory implants by the use of the occlusogram (DSC-618-A PHOTOPET), with which the materials could be photographed with 1:1 magnification. This equipment was shown to be quite useful for taking accurate occlusograms with gravure film. The results were as follows: (1) The majority of implant-heads were placed slightly buccally from the top of the alveolar ridge and each head turned toward the center of the central fossa, or toword the medial surface of the functional cusp of the opposite tooth. (2) Many of the super-structures were seen buccally from the tops of the alveolar ridges.journal articl

application/pdfWe have compiled the results of both an aptitude and psychological condition test which were taken by the students of Matsumoto Dental College, Dental Hygienist and Technician School for five years. Using these data, we could find some tendencies and changes of CPI among students from 1980 to 1982. We have also compared and inspected the tendencies of each year about YG character tests, and skill and technical ability examinations. We recognize that the students of Dental Hygienist are getting sense of security and developing some sense of self-confidence in their vocation through their professional education for two years. In the students of Dental Technician Class seemed to become more intellectual and show a sense of adult hood and responsibility in their role. Meanwhile, the students of Dental Hygienist Class had a sense of judgement and exactness in their role, and the students of Dental Technician Class got ability of observa-tion and conssideration. It's especialy remarkable that some C-type students in the YG character test were recognized developing abilities of technique and skill.journal articl

application/pdfThe handicapped is defined in the Fundemental Act for the Handicapped (1970) as "any person who has a considerable and long-pending limitation in one's daily life or social activities with a physical impairment of moving, seeing, hearing, balancing, voice or speech; a fixed organic disorder of the heart, respiratory system, and the like; or mental impairment such as mental deficiency". In those people, the dental health has much more importance than in the other normal people. For a person who is developing or has to recover from retardation should bite well. The infection following dental diseases is often dangerous in those who have serious organic disorders or low resistance associated with a congenital abnormality. Although, many people suffer from dental caries and periodontal disease, some of the severely handicapped differ from the normal, sometimes having not even the ability to inform others of their severe pain. We should correctly understand that most of the mentally retarded or the cerebral palsy patients have no ability to use dentures if they lose their own teeth. The most superior dental care should be provided for such severely handicapped people, and with the highest priority. Nevertheless, the handicapped are kept at a distance from dental service. The Welfare Ministry estimates that one in every 20 or so Japanese has some type of handicap, but few of them can receive adequate dental service. It is suggested that such regrettable situations are the result of a certain limitation of private practice, which makes up ninty-seven percent of Japanese dental service, and a lack of instruction in dentistry for the handicapped in the coventional dental education system. In the past decade, "Special Patient Care in Dentistry" has been developing. For dental needs beyond range of the usual service of general practitioners, the concept of "the special patient" was proposed. It includes those who require major oral surgery or complex orthodontic procedure at first, but now, in a narrow sense, it means those who require special medical or behavioral management, such as the handicapped, the aged, and the patient with an organic disorder. Tho special patient clinics in dental departments of hospitals and public dental service centers should be set up in every district. The substaniality of the secondary and the tertiary care such as hospital service is absolutely neccesary for treatment of severe and progressed dental diseases which are found frequently in the handicapped, but not enough for maintainance of their dental health. The other element is the primary health care provided by general practitioners. Indeed, the disabled person earnestly demands to receive dental service in his living environment. Periodical check, health education, tooth brushing instruction, prophylaxis, and preventive procedures, as well as early treatment if indicated, are much more powerful in such persons, and not so difficult for a general practitioner when he has the essential information of the handicapped and the behavior management. The concept of normalization should be introduced in the dental education system.journal articl

application/pdfIn the observation of frequency, location, and extention of cervical enamel projection on the maxillary molar teeth of Indian skulls, and in the measure of the distance between cervical line and alveolar crest of the maxillary molars, the following results were obtained. 1. Frequency and degree The cervical enamel projection on the buccal surface of first molars were most frequently 0 degree in 47.1%, followed by I degree in 44.2%, III degree in 3.4% and II degree in 2.5% The cervical enamel projection of second molars were most frequently 0 degree in 40%, followed by I degree in 29%, III degree 23% and II degree 8%. They were most frequently found in the maxillary molar teeth. The cervical enamel projection of third molars were most frequently 0 degree in 58%, followed by I degree in 28%, III degree in 10% and II degree in 3%. 2. Resorption of alveolar crest The average distance between the buccal cervical line and the alveolar crest of the maxillary frist molars were 0 degree in 2.87mm, I degree in 3.63mm, II degree in 5.83mm and III degree in 4.27mm. The average distance of the buccal side on the maxillary second molars were 0 degree in 2.36mm, I degree in 2.90mm, II degree in 3.34mm and III dgree in 3.05mm. The average distance of the buccal side on the maxillary third molars were 0 degree 2.00mm, I degree 2.52mm, II degree 2.50mm and III degree 2.83mm.journal articl
