Light and Electron Microscopic Studies of Microcalcifications Appearing in Monomorphic Adenomas
application/pdfMicrocalcifications appearing in two cases of monomorphic adenomas were studied histopathologically, electron microscopically, and electron-microanalytically. One case was basal cell adenoma that occurred in a 56-year-old man and the other was canalicular adenoma in a 71-year-old woman. The calcified granules were observed both in the lumina formed by the tumor cells and in the stromal tissues. The surroundings of the granules were stained by alcian blue and showed a sulfur peak by EPMA. These facts suggest that the surroundings contain sulfated glycosaminoglycans and that sulfur has a significant role in the mechanisms of pathological calcification as well as physiological calcification.journal articl
歯周病患者の統計的観察第2報 昭和55~57年における初診時の主訴とその処置についての検討
application/pdfWe investigated the periodontal disease of 393 patients (240 males and 153 females) who visited the periodontics department in the Mastumoto Dental College Hospital, from January 1980 to December 1982. The records of the periodontal patients showed the chief complaint, plaque control score, location of the complaint, Gingival Index (GI), Plaque Index(PI), Calculus Index(CI), mobility, pocket depth, width of attached gingiva, degree of bone loss and other clinical findings from the first visit, the progress of the disease and its initial preparation. 1. In March 40-50 year-old patients of both sexes were most numerous, and in most cases the chief complaint was unpleasantness. 2. The location of the chief complaint was generally the anterior teeth of both arches, and there were many cases in which the Gingival Index was 3, the Plaque Index was 3, the Calculus Index was 2, and mobility was 1. 3. The plaque control score at the first visit was 81-85% and the state of oral hygiene was bad. 4. Cases in which the pocket depth was 4.0mm and the width of the attached gingiva was 2.6-3.0mm were numerous. 5. Almost all of the patients visited the clinic with diseases in the mild stage. 6. Besides scaling and brushing instruction, temporary splint by wire and resin ligature were the most commonly used methods of periodontal treatment.journal articl
Joseph FoxのThe Natural History of the Human Teeth(1803年刊)について
application/pdf"The Natural History of the Human Teeth," written by English surgeon, John Hunter, was first published in 1771, and is one of the most famous works in the history of dentistry. In 1803, another English surgeon, Joseph Fox, also published a book with the same title as Hunter's, but it is not as famous as the former. However, Fox's work is remembered for its description of appliances for correcting dental irregularity and his account of diseases which affect children during their first dentition. I will review Fox's book. It has ll capters as follows : 1. Of the Formation of the Temporary Set of Teeth. 2. Of the Formation of the Permanent Set of Teeth. 3. Of the Manner in which the Teeth are Formed. 4. Of the Shedding of the Teeth, 5. Of the Irregularity of the Teeth. 6. Of the Treatment to Prevent Irregularity of the Teeth. 7. The Treatment to Remedy Irregularity of the Teeth. 8. Of Supernumerary Teeth. 9. Of the Decay of the Temporary Teeth. 10. Of the Diseases which attend Dentition. 11. The Analysis of the Teeth, by Mr. Pepys. and illustrated with thirteen copperplates.journal articl
塩尻市内某歯科医院における補綴物の統計的観察
application/pdfWe carried out a statistical study on the prostheses fabricated in a dental clinic in Shiojiri City from January 1985 to December 1985. The total of the dental records obtained was 1809. The results were as follows; 1) Of patients, approximately 84% had lived in Shiojiri city. These were more women than men. 2) The type of health insurance used was most often dependants of insured person of employee's health insurance, followed by employee's health insurance and then national health insurance. 3) About 52% of the patients received prosthetical treatment. 4) Of artificial crowns, the first molar was the most often replaced, followed by the second molar. About 90% of patients whose age was between 10 and 20 received artificial crowns on the first molar. The average was about 2 crowns per patient, but the most patients received 1 crown. 5) Most of bridge were fabricated as 3 units and adapted to a missing first molar and then to a missisg second premolar. 4 units were often placed in a missing lower fist molar. In all the cases, full cast crown was used frequentry as a bridge retainer. 6) The number of repaired removable denture was higher than newly fabricated denture.journal articl
シリンダー型骨内インプラントの実験的研究
application/pdfThere are several different types and materials that are used in the endosteal implant, and recently, the root type implant has been used. In order to be acceptable as a material for implant, it is essential that it does not initiate an unacceptable inflammatory response in the tissue, and that it is biocompatible. In the present study, the acceptability of titanium for root type implants was examined in vivo histopathologically and clinically and its functional problems resulting from occlusal stress was considered. The right mandibles of 12 adult dogs, from which premolars had been removed, were used in the present study. After alveoectomy, a newly devised endosteal implant which contained a piece of transplanted bone was inserted and followed with closure of the surgical site. The insertion material was a cylindrical titanium tube approximately 5mm in diameter and 7mm in height. The tube wall was punched with many holes approximately 1mm in diameter. The tube was filled with fresh bone marrow, which is excised from the iliac bone, before insertion. After 3~18 months, the thick connective tissue layer surrownded the metal, and the bone tissue, which grew from spongy bone, came into contact with the metal. Inside the tube, the dense spongy bone was marked by a trabecular bone which enters the tube from the superior, inferior and lateral holes. The entering bone matrix made contact with the remaining transplanted bone.journal articl
失活歯の支台築造
application/pdfThe results from statistical surveys indicate that approximately 80% of abutment teeth for fixed prosthetic restorations are built as a replacements for missing tooth structures (caused by dental caries, endodontic access preparation, trauma etc.,) using post and core materials. However, it has been revealed that most failures of fixed prosthetic restorations with endodontically treated teeth are caused by unsuitable post and core. The causes of these failures are based on both wrong judgement of indication and faulty procedure for constructing post and core. This article describes the following clinical criteria for the use of post and core; (1) retention of post and core, (2) mechanical strength of post and core, (3) retention of restoration retained by post and core, (4) tooth fracture, and (5) secondary caries and periodontal diseases.journal articl
ミニプレートを用いて顎顔面骨接合術を施した12症例
application/pdfBecause the Champy's miniplate can easily be shaped and molded either by binding pliers or by hand, it can be adapted to all facial bones, especially in the case of mandibular fractures in the condyle, zygomatic complex, and upper or lower orbital rim. It can also be used in mandibular reconstruction with autogenous bone grafts after resection of the mandible. We reported on 4 cases, which were representative of 12 patients who were treated suitably with this technique during the past 6 months. Consequently Champy's miniplate is thought to be very valuable for the osteosynthesis of facial bone.journal articl
