BIOMASSA DAN KARBON TUMBUHAN BAWAH SEKITAR DANAU TAMBING PADA KAWASAN TAMAN NASIONAL LORE LINDU
Generally, at the growth phase of the forest, plants, for example ground plant can absorb CO2more higher than climax forest. This study was aimed to determine biomass and ground plants carbon around Tambing lake. Research was carried out in Tambing lake, Lore Lindu National Park area, from August through October 2013. Quantifying biomass was done by destructive method by collecting all ground plant samples in plots. Ten plots (1m x 1m) were established in south, east, north, and west part of the lake with distance between the plot is 10 m. The results showed that the biomass average were 0.26 ton ha-1, 0.48 ton ha-1, 1.12 ton ha-1and 0.93 ton ha-1 in south, east, north and west part of the Tambing lake, respectively. Hence, the average number of carbon were 0.12 ton ha-1, 0.22 ton ha-1, 0.52 ton ha-1 and 0.44 ton ha-1 in south, east, north and west part of the Tambing lake, respectively. KEANEKARAGAMAN JENIS VEGETASI TEPIAN SUNGAI KAILI DESA LABUAN KUNGGUMA KECAMATAN LABUAN
Kaili watershed aims to be a regulator of water system that has important role for society. This experiment employed systematic strip plot sampling method. It also aims to find out the species of the edge of tree vegetation varieties at Kaili river of Labuan Kungguma Village in Labuan Sub-district. Based on the observation on tree level, in Kaili river, the most dominating is Dracontomelon dao (Blanco) Merr. & Rolfe., tree which has IVI 32.19%. At the level of pole tree, it is dominated by Dracontomelon dao (Blanco) Merr. & Rolfe., which has IVI 29.71% of its important Index Value. At the level of stake, it is dominated by Magnolia champaca, which has IVI 19.42%. At the level of undergrowth, it is dominated by Thallophyta, which has IVI 14.47%. The level of this species varieties classified into high criteria. The level of species diversity (H’) at the level of tree reached 3.08% and it is classified into high criteria; at the pole level which reached 2.84% classified into moderate criteria; at the level of stake reached 3.27% classified into high criteria; and at undergrowth level reached 3.39% classified into high criteria. EFEKTIVITAS BAHAN PENGAWET ALAMI DARI TANAMAN TEMBELEKAN (Lantana camara L) PADA BEBERAPA JENIS KAYU TERHADAP SERANGAN RAYAP TANAH (Coptotermes sp.)
Many favorable properties of wood are available in almost all parts of the world, easily obtained in different shapes and sizes, relatively easy to process, as well as very decorative appearance. However, wood also has a weakness that could be damaged by a variety of factors either biological, physical, mechanical or chemical. In reality, the main factors causing damage to the wood are fungi, bacteria, insects and marine animals (marine borer). The organisms might damage the wood because they make as a shelter or as feed. Therefore, there should be conducted wood preservation to overcome the unfavorable properties of the woods. Wood preservation aims to extend the use of low-class durability of timber species such as Bayur (Pterospermum sp), Durian (Durio zibethinus) and Benuang (Octomeles sumatrana Miq). This study aimed at determining the effectiveness of a natural preservative tembelekan (Lantana camara L). The research was conducted at the Forestry Sciences Laboratory, Department of Forestry, Forestry Faculty, Tadulako University and Talise Mantikulore Sub-district, started from May to July 2013. The study was designed with the method of completely randomized design (CRD) with three wood species treatment, namely bayur, durian and benuang. Each was preserved with a natural preservatives of tembelekan extract with a concentraation of 13,04%. There were 10 samples of each type of wood, consisting of 5 test samples preserved and 5 controls (without preserrvatives). There were 30 test samples. The parameters observed were preservative effectiveness of the sample weight after feeding on soil termites. The study shows that highest natural preservative effectiveness on benuang wood was preserved with the sample weight loss of 2,25% and the lowest on bayur wood was preserved with the sample weight loss of 3,47% when they were compared with the control sample (without preservative). CADANGAN KARBON TANAH SEKITAR DANAU TAMBING DI KAWASAN TAMAN NASIONAL LORE LINDU
This research aimed to know carbon stock in the soil around Tambing Lake, Lore Lindu National Park area, Sedoa village, Lore Utara district, Poso regency, Central Sulawesi. The collection of soils samples was conducted in June-August, 2013. This study uses survey method two lines with size 20 m x 100 m were place in two sites, in the Lake buffer zone (distance 10 m from the lake shore) and outside of the Lake buffer zone (distance 150 m from the lake shore). Soil sampling was done in three depth layers ; 0-10 cm, 10-20 cm and 20-30 cm. Soil samples was divided into two types, namely undisturbed and disturbed soil. The soil carbon was estimated by analyzing bulk density and soil organic carbon by Walkley-Black method. The results showed that the average carbon stock in the soil around buffer zone of Tambing Lake were 130.95 ton ha-1, 62.02 ton ha-1, 42.71 ton ha-1, in the depth layer 0-10 cm, 10-20 cm and 20-30 cm, respectively. KOMPOSISI JENIS VEGETASI HABITAT ANOA (Bubalus sp.) DI CAGAR ALAM PANGI BINANGGA KABUPATEN PARIGI MOUTONG
Anoa (Bubalus sp.) is a wildlife species, endemic dan protected in Nature Reserve of Pangi Binangga. The research aim was to identify the vegetation species of anoa aabitat in Pangi Binangga Nature Reserve. The research was used purposive sampling. Analysis of vegetation on anoa habitat showed that 31 species of plants comprising 21 families. In addition, recorded that there were 15 plant species comprising 11 families used as food sources. The key indicator plants at anoa habitat were Ardisia celebica, Castanopsis accuminatisimma, Calamus sp, Dysoxyllum posasiticum, Eurya acuminata, Lithocarpus celebicus, Litsea densiflora, Litsea formanii, Syzigium accuminatisium, Zingiber sp. SIFAT KIMIA TANAH PADA BERBAGAI TIPE PENGGUNAAN LAHAN DI DESA BOBO KECAMATAN PALOLO KABUPATEN SIGI
Conversion of land use system can affect natural ecological processes such as soil properties. A study was conducted to determine the effects of different land use systems (primary forest, agroforestry and coffea plantation) on soil chemical properties in Lore Lindu National Park area, Bobo village, Palolo district, Sigi regency, Central Sulawesi.We measured these effects by quantifying some chemical soil analysis were done on soil samples taken at two depths (0-30cm and >30-60cm). Soil samples were collected from the field by using steel cylinders at three different land use types; primary forest, agroforestry and coffea plantation, respectively. The results of the study, on one hand, revealed that pH (H2O), C-organic, total N, P-available, total K and cation exchange capacities of the primary forest were 6.43, 2.22 %, 0.17 %, 19.77 mg/100g, 37.36 mg/100g and 30,18 me(+)kg-1, while at agroforestry, pH (H2O), C-organic, total N, P-available, total K and cation exchange capacities were 4.86, 1.61 %, 0.17 %, 19.84 mg/100g, 18.74 mg/100g, 14,56 me(+)kg-1, respectively. Furthermore, pH (H2O), C-organic, total N, P-available, total K and cation exchange capacities of the coffea plantation were 6.49, 1.56 %, 0,17 %, 14.16 mg/100g, 49.69 mg/100g and 2877 me(+)kg-1, respectively. KEANEKARAGAMAN JENIS BURUNG PADA AREAL DONGI-DONGI DI KAWASAN TAMAN NASIONAL LORE LINDU
This research was conducted on May 2013 - July 2013 in Dongi-Dongi area at Lore-Lindu National Park, to determine the species composition, attendance rates, species diversity, composition based on category guild and species evenness of birds. This rescarch used transect method. Data were collected using four units of 500 m line transect each. For residential area and around forest habitat, it was found there are 45 species of bird within 25 families where 22 of them are endemic. In residential area there were 8 species with attendance rate of 100 %, 2 species of 75 %, 5 species of 50 % and 16 species of 25 %. Meanwhile, the diversity index in residential area (H) was 3.19 , and 3.17 in forest habitat. In addition, evenness in residential area and forest habitat ispectively (E) are 0. 93 and 0.89. Based on the category guild, 7 compositions found in residential area and 9 in forest habitat. Keywords: Diversity, bird species, forest, Dongi-Dongi residential
NILAI MANFAAT HUTAN MANGROVE DI DESA SAUSU PEORE KECAMATAN SAUSU KABUPATEN PARIGI MOUTONG
Mangrove forest is a typical ecosystem in tropical regions, which have multiple benefits and effects especially on the social, economic and ecological aspects. This study was aimed to know direct and indirect benefits of mangrove forest by analyze and quantify its value to Indonesian currency (IDR). The study was conducted at Sausu Peore village, Sausu sub-district, Parigi Moutong regency, Central Sulawesi, from March through May 2014. The method used in this study was based on the market price. Respondents were selected by purposive sampling method. Identification and quantification of the use natural resources was done by assessment on the market and replacement price. The results showed that direct benefits of the mangrove forests in this area are firewoods, wood as construction materials, fishs, shellfish, crabs, and bats, while indirects benefits of the mangrove forests is as a buffer on coastal aberration. The economic value of direct benefits was IDR. 513,499,753, while the value of indirect benefits was IDR. 499,655,240, so the total value of all benefits was IDR.1,013,164,993. PERTUMBUHAN STUMP GMELINA (Gmelina Arborea Roxb.) PADA BERBAGAI PERBEDAAN LAMA WAKTU PENYIMPANAN
Gmelina arborea Roxb, is a fast growing species that has been cultivated widely in forest plantation. This species can be used for various purposes, such as the stems can be used for furniture and construction and material for pulp and paper industry. This study aimed to determine the effect of various saving time on the growth of Gmelina (G.arborea Roxb.) stumps. The research was conducted from October through December 2013, at Taipa Java Nursery, Maesa, Palu, Central Sulawesi. The experiment was laid out in a Randomized Complete Design (RCD) with ten replications, Control that without saving time (P0), Stump saved 3 days (P1), Stump saved 6 days (P2), Stump saved 9 days (P3), Stump saved 12 days (P4). Observation Parameters consist of seedling height increment, steam diameter increment, leaf number, total fresh weight, total dry weight. The results of the study showed that there were significant differences between the treatments in all the parameters assessed. Treatment stump saved 9 days resulting the highest value in all the parameters and was significantly different from the other treatments in seedling height, stem diameter, leaf number and total fresh and dry weight, while the control treatment showed least performance in this study. UJI RETENSI DAN EFEKTIVITAS TANAMAN KUMIS KUCING (Orthosiphon aristatus) TERHADAP SERANGAN RAYAP TANAH (Coptotermes sp) PADA KAYU DURIAN (Durio zibethinus)
Nowadays, utilization ofnon-durable wood species in Indonesia is one alternative to meet the needs ofthe wood. Use natural preservatives such as Orthosiphon aristatus in natural wood preservation processis highly recommended as environmentally friendly.This study was aimed to determine retention and the effects of Orthosiphon aristatus leaves extracts as preservation material of Durio zibethinus wood on the Coptotermes sp. Attacks. Regency and the laboratory of Forestry Science, Tadulako University, from May to June 2013. The study was using completely randomized design with factorial pattern. The treatment of study was applying two factors. First, concentration of Orthosiphon aristatus extracts with three levels, namely; 9.09% (A1), 16,67% (A2), and 23,07% (A3). Second, Dipping time with three levels,namely: 1 day (B1), 3 days (B2), and 5 days (B3). The results showed that the highest retention value (3,538g/cm3) was achieved by the combination treatment between concentration 23,07% and dipping time 5 days (A3B3) while the lowest retention value (0,562g/cm3) was achieved by the combination treatment between concentration 9,09% and dipping time 1 day (A1B1). Hence, the lowest effectivity of preservation materials indicated by the highest weight loss,was achieved by A1B1 combination treatment (3,37%) while the lowest (highest effectivity) was achieved by (A3B3) combination treatment (1,88%).
