Assessing mental health literacy and its association with help-seeking behavior among youth participants
Approximately 15.5 million adolescents experience mental health problems, yet only 2.6% seek professional help. Without appropriate intervention, these difficulties may progress into more severe disorders, making help-seeking behavior critical for ensuring timely support. Youth Integrated Health Posts (Posyandu Remaja) serve as community-based platforms that promote adolescent health, including programs aimed at improving mental health literacy. However, low help-seeking behavior among youth attending these centers remains a persistent concern. This study aimed to examine the association between mental health literacy and help-seeking behavior among adolescents enrolled in Posyandu Remaja in Surakarta. Using purposive sampling, 114 adolescents participated in the study. Data were collected using adapted questionnaire-based scales assessing help-seeking behavior (α = 0.801) and mental health literacy (α = 0.528). Analysis was conducted using chi-square correlation tests in SPSS 25. The results indicated no statistically significant association between mental health literacy and help-seeking behavior among the participants, χ² = 0.631 (N = 114, p = 0.427). These findings suggest that improving mental health literacy alone may be insufficient to increase help-seeking tendencies among adolescents. Health service providers are encouraged to develop more comprehensive strategies beyond literacy-enhancing interventions. Future research may consider larger sample sizes, refined measurement tools, and the exploration of additional factors that may influence help-seeking behavior among youth in similar community settings
Integrating the Islamic concept of hikmah and positive psychology for holistic well-being: A literature review
In the face of increasingly complex challenges in modern life, there is a pressing need to integrate Islamic wisdom (hikmah) with the principles of positive psychology to achieve holistic well-being. Wisdom, as the capacity to comprehend and apply knowledge meaningfully, is deeply rooted in Islamic teachings. Concurrently, positive psychology emphasizes the cultivation of individual strengths and potential to promote psychological flourishing. This study aims to explore the intersections between hikmah as derived from the Qur’an and Hadith and the foundational tenets of positive psychology in promoting mental health, resilience, and life satisfaction as components of holistic well-being. A qualitative literature review was conducted using a meta-ethnographic synthesis approach. This method facilitates the integration of findings from multiple qualitative studies to generate new theoretical insights into a specific phenomenon. It is particularly suitable for research that investigates subjective experiences, perceptions, and behaviors in depth, with the potential to inform both theoretical development and practical applications. The literature search was conducted through major academic databases, including Google Scholar, SpringerLink, PubMed, and Cambridge University Press. Search terms included “wisdom,” “Islam,” “positive psychology,” and “well-being.” Inclusion criteria encompassed peer-reviewed articles published between 2020 and 2024 in either English or Indonesian. A total of eight relevant articles were selected for synthesis. The findings highlight a strong association between religiosity and social support with wisdom. Wisdom, in turn, exerts a positive influence on psychological well-being. Furthermore, religiosity and social support contribute indirectly to psychological well-being through the mediating role of wisdom. Positive psychology interventions were found to enhance wisdom, resilience, and cognitive flexibility. Additionally, spiritual and health-promoting behaviors were positively correlated with psychological well-being, with health-related behaviors serving as mediators. Wisdom was identified as a significant predictor of subjective well-being, particularly in later life stages. While spirituality supports mental health, its contribution to wisdom appears to be less pronounced compared to prosocial behavior and self-regulation. Interventions rooted in Islamic values have shown potential in improving psychological well-being, and multicomponent positive psychology programs have demonstrated efficacy in both enhancing well-being and alleviating depressive symptoms. Overall, wisdom and religiosity are positively associated with subjective well-being, with mastery and life purpose serving as mediating variables

Children and teenagers are at risk of being sexually abused targeted or performing risky sexual behavior. Appropriate sex education from their closest environment presented by parents or teachers is in demand. However, parents and teachers have limitations in giving sex education, especially in early childhood. Even though workshops or training for improving parents’ knowledge and skills are effective, specifically designed education tools are needed to support parents ad teachers in disseminating sexuality topics for kids. This research aimed to validate the picture storybook “Tubuhku Berharga” specially designed for preschoolers in two consecutive procedures. First, the content validation process to evaluate the design’s relevance and appropriateness. Next, a quasi-experiment protocol as an empirical validation process was conducted following the content validation. A one-group pretest-posttest design was used in a local kindergarten. The result demonstrated that the picture storybook “Tubuhku Berharga” is valid as a supporting tool in teaching sexuality matters to preschoolers. We suggested constructing other visual media with other topics in sexuality health, such as reproduction and body image that are age-suitable for preschoolers

Mental health literacy as a moderator relationship between self-diagnosis and help-seeking behavior in adolescent Posyandu
In the context of rapid societal changes and the digital era, adolescents are increasingly vulnerable to mental health issues, which are often reflected in help-seeking behavior. A significant 34.9% of adolescents exhibit symptoms of mental disorders, yet only 2.6% seek professional help. The establishment of adolescent health posts (Posyandu) serves as a platform for monitoring adolescent health. However, challenges remain due to the low response rates in help-seeking behaviors and limited interest in Posyandu activities. This study aims to examine the relationship between self-diagnosis and help-seeking behavior, moderated by mental health literacy, among adolescents in Posyandu in the city of "Y." The research adopted a quantitative approach, targeting all members of adolescent Posyandu in the city. A purposive sampling method was employed, selecting adolescents aged 10-23 years who were active in the Posyandu, resulting in 114 respondents. Data were collected using scales for help-seeking behavior (α = 0.801), self-diagnosis (α = 0.795), and mental health literacy (α = 0.528). Data analysis was conducted using Chi-Square correlation and PROCESS Macro Hayes version 4.2. The correlation analysis revealed a significant positive relationship between self-diagnosis and help-seeking behavior. Meanwhile, the PROCESS analysis indicated that the interaction between self-diagnosis and mental health literacy negatively affected help-seeking behavior. It can be concluded that while mental health literacy moderates the relationship between self-diagnosis and help-seeking behavior, it does not strengthen this association among Posyandu adolescents in the city of "Y.
