This study was aimed to know the effect of problem-based learning model on the ability of students scientific literacy in reaction rate material. Scientific literacy that is examined in this study only on competency dimension of science. This research was conducted at SMAN 8 South TangerangCity. The method used was quasi-experimental with nonequivalent control group design. The sample was taken byusing purposive sampling technique. The data was taken by using an essay test of scientific literacy ability in competency dimension of science. The analysis of data used is t-test that obtained tcountvalue totaled 8.27 and ttable on significant level0.05is 1.99, so that thetcount>ttable. So we can concludethat Ho was refuse. This indicatesthatthe application of problem-based learning model provides a significant impact on the ability of students scientific literacy in reaction rate material. The purpose of this study was to obtain a pre-conception of learners and scientists perspective on the concept of climate change, global warming and relations between them; know the characteristics of teaching materials; and find an expert assessment of the design of instructional materials. The method used in this study is a mixed methods using sequential eksploratorisdesign by adapting the Model of Educational Reconstruction(MER). Instruments are interview form, text analysis sheet, validation indicators sheet and cognitive aspects of learning objectives and affective aspects, validation concept analysis sheet, validation design teaching materials sheet, readability test and scientific literacy test. Results of interviews to 10 junior high school students showed a pre-conception of learners with different perspectives of scientists on global warming and climate change. Characteristics of teaching material produced are (a) developed accordance reflection of learners pre-conceptions and the scientist\u27s perspective (b) accessible, (c) equipped with aspects of nature of science (NOS), and (d) using a sequence of teaching and learning of Science and Technology Literacy (STL) by adopting a learning phase Chemie im a Context (ChiK). The results of the validation of teaching materials to obtain an average value of CVI is 0,99. Results of the questionnaire responses obtain an average value of 4.46, while the test results showed therewere also significantly differences in the value of literacy students between before with after studying the teaching materials (p=0,00). This study aimed to analyze the correlation between Self-Efficacy (SE), Health Awareness (KHS) and Science Learning Outcomes (HB) on environmental pollution subject in Junior High School. Subjects in this study were 7th grade junior high school students in Bandung Regency which is located near to the market and the railway stationenvironment. The research method has been used was quasi-experimental. The research design has been used was The Matching -Posttest Only - Control Group Design. Experimental class received the treatment, it was motivation and knowledge of healthy living, while the control group was not given. The data collection instruments has been used was three instruments, it was; 1) Self-Efficacy (SE) Instrument, 2) Health Awareness (KHS) Instrument, 3) Learning Outcomes (HB) Instrument. Results showed that the experimental class gain a higher value of self-efficacy, health awareness and learning outcomes better than the control class. Results of correlation test showed that there is a positive correlation between self-efficacy (SE) with health awareness (KHS), self-efficacy (SE) with learning outcomes (HB), and health awareness (KHS) with learning outcomes (HB). Local knowledge of the Dayak Ngaju community in Gunung Mas regency, Central Kalimantan there were believed that many species of plants, animals and their surroundingscan be used as an indicator of a particular environtment. The local people experience is one example of local knowledge which needs to be studied scientifically through ethnobiology.Study of ethnobiology was confined to the local community\u27s knowledge about the medicinal plants (ethnobotany), local community knowledge about the utilization of existed nearby animals (ethnozoology) and knowledge of the local community in ecosystems around their living quarters (ethnoecology). Afterwards these studies was arranged into biology practical work material. The purposesof the studyare(1) to study theethnobiology of local knowledge of DayakNgajucommunitiesinGunung Mas regency, (2) to inventoryandidentifyseveral species that areusedin foodstuffs, pharmaceuticals, industry and utilization of the environment for the practical work in high school. This should be well documented and to be taught to the next generations to avoid the extinction of local knowledges.Integratingthe materialethnobiology into learningbiology is one of the best ways to deliverlocalknowledge in formal education. It was suggested to teach ethnobiology inbiology practical work, especially inhigh school who have forest environment as characteristic oftheir territory since ethnobiological material was very important. Biology lab exercise are an important aspect on learning process. However, the outcome of the lab activity might not come as the curriculum goals expected. It is due to several reasons. This paper try to measure the relationship between students’ character and students’ performance in Biology lab exercise. This study used self-confidence as a proxy of students’ character. A unique Indonesian high school datasets and simple regression analysis were used for this research. Evidence shows that pupils’ self-confidence 3% among other variables that determine students’ performance and it has positive but insignificant impacts on students performance. The evidence demonstrates there is a weak relationship between self-confidence and students performance in lab practice. Keyword: self confidence; performance of students; Biology practic

This survey research was conducted to understand the difference and level of environmental awareness and knowledge on solid waste management dan vegetation re-planting of students from Eco-School (adiwiyata) and Non Eco-School (non-adiwiyata). The number of respondents was 198 students from two high Eco-Schools (SMA N 1 Pengasih and MAN 2 Wates) and two high Non Eco-Schools (SMA N 1 Girimulyo and SMA N 1 Wates). Sample was chosen by random sampling. Students were given a set of questionnaires, which consisted section A tested students awareness and section B tested students knowledge. The data were statistically analysed using Mann-Whitney and descriptive statistics. The results of Mann-Whitney showed that there are significant difference on environmental awareness and knowledge between student taught in Eco-School and student taught in Non Eco-School (Sig.< 0,05). Meanwhile, the level of environmental awareness and knowledge between student taught in Eco-School and student taught in Non Eco-School are in the same level. The level of environmental awareness between student Eco-School and Non Eco-School is in the same low level and the level of environmental knowledge between student Eco-School and Non Eco-School is in the same low level. Keywords: Environmental literacy; Eco School (adiwiyata); solid waste management; vegetation re-planting

This study aims to determine the effect of application of POGIL model in improving student` understanding of the material on reaction rate. The method used in this research is Quasi Experiment with Non Equivalent Control Design research descriptions and sampling with purposive sampling technique. The instrument used in this research are 12 essay test instrument with conceptual understanding indicator covering ability to comprehend, apply, and analyze. In this reseacrh, obtained pretest score of control class as much as 26,10 and experiment class 24,86. Next, the score of posttest of concrol class is 62,48 and experiment class is 76,48. Based on the hypothesis test with the level of trust α (0,05) obtained by t-test of posttest data obtained that the value of sig (2-tailed) 0,00 < 0,005 and tcount< ttabel (6,521<2,045) which mean H0 rejected and H1 accepted so that it can be concluded that there is a significant influence on the application of POGIL model to student understanding of the material on the rate of reaction.
