OVERLAP TYPES IN GOLDEN GLOBE AWARD INTERVIEW BY THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER
Full text linkThe aim of this research is to categorize what types of overlap are constructed in Golden Globe Award Interview 2020 with Nicholas Braun by The Hollywood Reporter. In an interview, it is one of turn taking violations which still becomes a rife phenomenon where many speakers aren’t aware yet about it. The approach used in this research is descriptive qualitative by documentation technique. The main theory of overlap types is based on Schegloff (2000) and French & Local (1983). There are 13 data found which contain 11 non-competitive: 1 terminal overlap, 5 continuers, 4 conditional access to the turn, 1 choral and 2 competitive: 2 high pitch and increased loudness. So, it can be concluded that the most dominant of overlap type is continuers that categorized as unproblematic for the speakers and conversation structure. Because the next speakers used it to respect the current speakers. Therefore, this result is expected as one of overlap examples which can be applied
ANALISIS GENRE WACANA SURAT HAMID KEPADA ZAINAB DALAM NOVEL DI BAWAH LINDUNGAN KA’BAH
Full text linkThis study will examine the genre analysis of the contents of Hamid's letter to Zainab contained in the novel "Di bawah Lindungan Ka’bah" by Buya Hamka. The subject of this research is Hamid's letters. The object of research is genre. The data obtained is the documentation of their letters contained in the novel. The method used to analyze the data is a qualitative descriptive method. Data analysis uses genre theory because it can conclude the analysis from the types of discourse, as well as describe its substance. The results showed that Hamid's letter to Zainab contained 6 purpose sentences, 1 rhetorical structure. Meanwhile, for the realization of the use of linguistic forms using the LFS (Systemic Functional Linguistics) method, there are data; Mental processes = 9 processes, Material processes = 11 processes, behavioral processes = 2 processes, relational processes = 5 processes. Then after conducting further analysis of this research, we can conclude that Hamid's letter to Zainab belongs to the type of descriptive discours

Full text linkLiterary works are the result of imitating or depicting the reality of phenomena that occur in human real life because literary works themselves are a reflection of society. Therefore, literature is an expression of human life that cannot be separated from the problems that exist in society. One of the literary works that express the reality of social life is a novel, one of which is a novel entitled Ayat-Ayat Cinta. This study aims to examine the description of social problems in the novel Ayat-Ayat Cinta by Habiburrahman El Shirazy and find out the driving factors of these social problems. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach to the sociology of literature. Data was collected using the technique of observing and noting using the observation method. The findings obtained in this study indicate that there are descriptions of social problems in the novel Ayat-Ayat Cinta by Habiburrahman El Shirazy, in the form of discrimination, domestic violence, family disorganization, school bullying, prostitution, polygamy in the western paradigm, and poverty. The various social problems found indicate that factors are driving these social problems in the novel Ayat-Ayat Cinta by Habiburrahman El Shirazy, such as psychological factors and cultural factor

The drill method that does not require additional media, and only relies on the five human senses is an advantage that deserves to be maximized. This study aims to offer ten elements that can encourage better results in the process of memorizing Mandarin with the drill method. By using qualitative research methods, elements, such as, relying on continuity, familiarizing with Mandarin language culture, determining the appropriate mindset for improving mastery of Mandarin memorization with the dril method, are a summary of the results in the elements offered and in the discussion will be presented with in-depth elaboration

However, the problem in the world of education today is that there is still unpreparedness and gaps in the use of technology in the educational sphere. The purpose of this research is as an effort to transform the development of learning media that makes more use of information technology and keeps up with the times. The Canva application can support the learning process because of the many designs provided so that learning materials can be designed more attractively. Then, the Quizlet application provides various features for creating interactive quizzes. This study used a qualitative descriptive method with interview data collection techniques with informants. Based on the results of the research, Canva and Quizlet media for learning fables at SMP Muhammadiyah Purworejo are considered to be very effective. The use of these applications does not make students bored and more interested in learning, so it is hoped that the Canva and Quizlet applications can be used as references or alternatives for teachers in improving student learning outcomes, especially in junior high school students' fable text materia

Full text linkThis research is qualitative research with a discourse analysis approach. The purpose of this study is to describe the elements of sentences contained in news headlines in newspapers. The research data used in the form of written text containing the omission of sentence elements. The source of the research data was obtained through the September 2022 edition of the SOLOPOS newspaper. The data was collected by means of a documentation study using reading and note-taking techniques. This research uses analysis technique of agih and insertion. The results showed that the omission of sentence elements contained in the news title of the September 2022 edition of the SOLOPOS newspaper occurred in two elements, namely the omission of the subject and the verb. The process of removing the title on the news is carried out by writers and editors to adjust the layout of small newspapers and make the news more interesting because it arouses the curiosity of readers. The results of the analysis of 10 news headlines found that there were 1 complete sentence that were not omitted and 9 sentences that were omitted by nouns with subject functions, verbs with predicate functions, and affixes to verb
THE ANALYSIS OF LANGUAGE STYLE USED IN MERRY RIANA’S YOUTUBE CHANNEL ON THE PLAYLIST ‘SPOKEN WORD’
Full text linkThe aim of this study was to find out the types of language styles and identify the dominant style of language used by Merry Riana in her selected motivational speech videos as a motivator. The data of this study were taken from Merry Riana’s YouTube Channel and the researchers chose 3 motivational speech videos in the "SPOKEN WORD" playlist. In analyzing the data, the researchers used descriptive qualitative method. The researchers used the theory proposed by Martin Joss (1967) to identify the types of language styles. According to Martin Joss (1967), there are five language styles: frozen style, formal style, casual style, consultative style, and intimate style. The researchers found that in Merry Riana’s motivational speech used three language styles from five language styles proposed by Martin Joss. There were 64 formal styles, 42 casual styles, and 4 intimate styles from the 117 sentences uttered by the speaker in the selected video. The most dominant style of language found in this study was the formal style

Full text linkThe purpose of this article is to identify grammatical and lexical forms of cohesion in the discourse in the april 2022 issue of the kompas.com site's online news. This article uses a descriptive qualitative method with a text analysis type of research. Data collection techniques are carried out by recording words, phrases, clauses and sentences that have grammatical and lexical cohesion forms. Based on data analysis obtained in the form of grammatical cohesion and lexical cohesion, namely efficiency, substitution, demonstrative, comparative, ellipsis, and conjunction. while in lexical cohesion, namely repetition, synonymy, antonymy, collocation, and hyponymy. The total of the total data found amounted to 32. Grammatical cohesion data totaled 19 data, with details: persona reference 3 data, demonstrative 4 data, comparative 1 data, substitution 4 data, ellipsis 2 data, and conjunction 5 data. Meanwhile, the lexical cohesion data totaled 13 data with details: reps 4 data, synonymy 2 data, antonymy 3 data, collocation 1 data, and hyponymy 3 data

Full text linkThe Ministry of Education and Culture develops the Independent Curriculum (Which previously called as curriculum prototype) as a learning recovery effort in the midst of conditions that are expected to improve. Learning recovery is carried out to overcome the learning loss experienced by students during the pandemic. The purpose of this study was to find out whether the independent curriculum had been properly implemented at SMP Negeri 2 Batang. This study uses qualitative methods and research techniques in the form of interviews with teachers women lesson language Indonesia Of Junior High School Negeri 2 Batang as well as field studies or field research. Project strengthening profile student Pancasila has been implemented with the theme of Local Wisdom in the form of exploring herbal ingredients, all things in the Tiban market, traces of ancestral lands, and old school culinary delights. So, from this study it can be concluded that SMP Negeri 2 Batang has implemented independent curriculum-based learning and has developed and implemented projects to strengthen the profile of Pancasila students in accordance with the recommendations of the Ministry of Education and Cultur

Full text linkThis article aims to describe the subordination of women in the Novel Perempuan yang Menangis Kepada Bulan Hitam by Dian Purnomo. This research is a qualitative research with a descriptive method and uses a feminist literary approach. The data in this study are in the form of words, phrases, clauses, sentences, and paragraphs that describe the subordination of women in the Novel Perempuan yang Menangis Kepada Bulan Hitam by Dian Purnomo. The results of the study show that subordination to women appears in stories as a result of customary and cultural constraints. Subordination that occurs in the form of women's status is degraded and does not consider women's existence important. Disclosure of women's subordination in the Novel Perempuan yang Menangis Kepada Bulan Hitam will provide information and knowledge for readers to carry out adat in the right way, so that no more women become victim
