IMPROVEMENT OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS’ COMPETENCE OF READING COMPREHENSION THROUGH GENERATIVE LEARNING MODEL

Reading comprehension is a competence that everyone has to possess. It can broaden human’s insight in that we will not be left behind as time goes so fast. One of the teachers’ efforts as to enhance the reading comprehension competence is to apply a learning model that is able to explore a lot of students’ potency. The learning model considered to be capable of developing the students’ creative-thinking is a generative model. Based on the result of data analysis, it is known that the process of reading-comprehension learning runs well in full activity of students. The students’ tendency to the learning of reading comprehension using such a model is positive in the means of 75.10%. The generative learning model succeeds in enhancing the students’ competence of reading comprehension. The means of score before the treatment is only 53.80%, whereas after the treatment it gets 72% in which the index gain is 0.41 and it is categorized into mediocre. There is difference of reading-comprehension competence between the use of generative learning model and conventional model. It is proven by t-test, indicating that t-observed is higher than t-table. Therefore, the generative learning model is effective and reasonable to use for the teachers in the improvement of stduents’ reading-comprehension competence

This study aims to analyze literature learning material Class X SMA-MA-SMK in Curriculum Bahasa Indonesia 2016. The method is descriptive by referring to the stylistics study. The problem is how is the linguistic description of literature learning material above?. The findings can be concluded that the poet uses the single and complex sentences. It also uses the rhetorical sentence, parallelism, repetition, metaphor, and climax in poems. The chosen vocabulary by the author is the common vocabulary which they use in our daily life, however it has special meaning when it is arranged in the form of poetry. The imagination in their poems is very strong. It can be seen through visual, auditory, and tactile.

The connection of nature with literary works raises concepts about ecological problems in literature among literary critics. Many environmental problems that occur at this time. Through poetry, fairy tales and other literary works, the writers mention this in their works. Ecocritic has a basic paradigm that every object can be seen in ecological networks, and ecology can be a helpful science in this critical approach. Environmental insight can be obtained through a literary work. Some writers in Indonesia make nature and the environment a prominent part of their works. In addition to literary works such as poetry and novels, fairy tales have first explored nature. In fairy tales, nature is described as the place of life of the characters. That way, fairy tales indirectly invite the audience to come into contact with environmental insights that need to be studied and applied in everyday life.

Riantiarno. describe Individual violent expression plays in Bagong Republic, the Republic of Togog, Petruk and the Czech Republic Cangik by N. Riantiarno. The expression of collective violence theory is mapped into three variations of the basic idea. In the context of the structural repression of the rights holder, the social context of the horizontal dimension of community and individual contexts both psychologically or biologically.This is a qualitative research approach. Data collection techniques used in this research is the engineering documentation, read technique, as well as the techniques noted. Description of the analytical techniques used to describe data and content analysis was used to analyze the meaning of the message and reveal the message in the data.The results of this study (1) expression of structural violence in the data source, is dominated by the behavior of government officials to launch an interest group, (2) the expression of social violence in the data source, dominated by injustice policies and perspectives, (3) the expression of violent individual in the data source, is dominated by the behavior of retention of existence and desire control of power.

Mandarin language has been one of the subjects in 2013 Curriculum as one of the foreign languages taught in schools starting from elementary to universities. Due to high interest in Chinese language in opening career opportunities to people who can master the language, there is also an increase of interest on not only the language but also on how to teach the language. Teachers in this context the teachers of Mandarin language at least master the basic of teaching Mandarin language in the five elements. On this matter, there are errors in the writing of Han Characters that occurs during the learning process on learners and teachers. The errors cover the strokes misalignment on written texts of describing oneself. This study analyzes the common mistakes of Chinese stroke writing on Teachers of Chinese language teachers in Indonesia on training programmes.

INJUSTICE REPRESENTATION IN THE POETRY ANTHOLOGY NYANYIAN AKAR RUMPUT BY WIJI THUKUL (An Analysis Study of Critical Literacy)

The aim of this research is to do an in-depth study of the representation of injustice cointaned in the anthology of poetry Nyanyian Akar Rumput written by Wiji Thukul and its implication in learning Indonesian language. This research is a qualitative research using descriptive analysis method. The research concludes that the analyzed poems represent acts of injustice, such as commutative and recreative injustice. The results of this research showed: (1) Representation of commutative injustice was found in the poem entitled “Tanah†that revealed the people’s demand of justice caused by land expropriation;(2) Representation of recreative injustice was found in the poem entitled “Batas Panggung†that revealed the opposition caused by the lack of freedom in voicing their aspirations;(3) The implication of this research can be used by teachers and students as learning materials for literary study.

TWOFER: USING CDA IN THE CLASSROOM FOR ENHANCING STUDENTS LANGUAGE SKILLS AND CRITICAL THINKING

Nowadays, through technology, information spreads very rapidly. When something happens in one place, in a second it can be known by other people in other faraway places. Unfortunately the information is not always true. Many irresponsible people create misleading information and spread it massively which is known as hoax. This misleading information can provoke many bad effects even sometimes it is dangerous. The hoax can contain hatred, false health information, untrue disaster warning, and so on. This phenomena cannot be ignored. There have been many victims. To protect people from hoax can be done by training their critical thinking ability. One of the ways to make people able to think critically is through the implementation of critical discourse analysis (CDA). This research is aimed at building students’ critical thinking and also improving their English skills through the use of CDA. The method employed in this study was action research which was also completed by a focused group discussion. The research result shows that the students could improve their English skills and became more critical in writing a response to a text given by the lecturer by analyzing the text using the principles of CDA, not merely relying on their own opinion.

ANALYSIS OF THE ACRONYM WRITING ON THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION CAMPAIGN OF THE 2019-2024 PERIOD

This study discusses the renewal carried out by the acronym needed in campaign campaigns for presidential and vice-presidential candidates. To find out the errors related to the acronym that existed in the campaign viewer, this study used a qualitative descriptive method. The results of this study indicate the facts that appear on promotional devices. Mistakes in using this acronym are needed in campaign campaigns for the election of presidential and vice-presidential candidates. The error was issued by a selection error that was too imposing.

MORAL VALUE VIOLATIONS IN AN AMERICAN TRAGEDY NOVEL BY THEODORE DREISER (A Study of Psychoanalisis)

This research is a qualitative research. The technique is content analysis using the data in the form of words, phrases, and sentences. Writer uses a psychoanalysis study. In revealing moral values infringement, writer focuses on three questions; how are the type, cause, and effect of moral values violations in the story. Based on psychoanalysis, there is a moral value infringement. The type of moral values infringement is a murdering case. The cause of moral values violations is a self ambition to reach wealth and prosperity. The effect of moral values violations is a charge of death sentence. Based on the research, there are practical implications in education; to improve the quality and quantity of literature learning in high schools in accordance with the objectives contained in the curriculum. Teachers invites the students to enjoy literature study to differ on good and bad moral teachings and to enhance their ability in using English.

USING SOCIAL MEDIA AS A LEARNING MEDIA OF FOREIGN LANGUAGE STUDENTS IN HIGHER EDUCATION

Foreign language is an important component of someone in facing the era of Industry 4.0. The development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) will have an impact on the creation of a learning media innovation that will facilitate users in the learning process in higher education. Likewise in foreign language learning. Online-based learning has been designed in such a way as to increase learning knowledge and motivation. This study uses a qualitative approach with the survey method. Data and Sources of data in this study are students of foreign language study programs at universities in Indonesia. The results of the study show that students generally always use smartphones and use social media in all their activities. Students use a lot of social media in exploring vocabulary and increasing vocabulary mastery, learning as well as building networks for native speakers (Muttersprachler), and making social media a means of learning by accessing foreign-language songs and interesting media in student foreign language learning. Thus social media can be one of the means of education for students which ends in improving foreign language skills.
