    The aim of this research is to improve English descriptive writing skill through participatory strategy. This research is an action research in SMP Negeri 1 Gempol for students in the first grade.The data of this research was found from students in that class amounted to 38 students.The obtained data is qualitative and quantitative data. The qualitative data of this research is the student learning process of descriptive writing through participatory strategy in SMP Negeri 1 Gempol for students in first grade.The quantitative data is scores or results of students’ English writing test, both before or after learning process through participatory strategy.The obtained data indicates students’ improving English descriptive writing skill through participatory strategy. The result indicates that the use of participatory strategy is applied well.This research can be used by teachers in the school who want to improve their students’ English writing skill. This research can also give some benefits for the other students who want to make an action researc

    Syntax material has been introduced when we enter elementary school, in Indonesian language lessons, especially at the lower grade elementary school level, they have learned grammar based on their level of understanding and ability. This is seen in their textbooks that have been analyzed. The purpose of this study is to describe Indonesian language materials related to syntax in lower grade elementary school textbooks. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection technique in the form of simak catat. The data source in this research is a lower grade elementary school textbook published by Kemendikbudristek. The results showed that in grade 1 students began to recognize material about words and sentences, in grade 2 students had material about sentence functions, active and passive sentences. Then in grade 3 there is material on prohibition sentences, suggestion sentences and question words

    This research aims to describe the Rokat Birth Kembar tradition from the collection of short stories Kembang Selir by Muna Masyari along with the symbols and meanings contained in this tradition. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative because the aim of the research is to describe the Rokat Kandung Kembar tradition and the meaning contained therein. This research includes an anthropological study of literature. This research data collection technique uses note-reading techniques.     Evaluation of improving the quality of education to measure the achievement of student learning in the field of education is called a national assessment. This national assessment focuses on improving student achievement in the fields of literacy, numeracy, character, active learning processes, and a supportive learning atmosphere. National assessments are mandatory for all schools in Indonesia, including SMP Negeri 13 Semarang. This study was conducted to analyze and reconstruct the contents of the national assessment carried out at SMP Negeri 13 Semarang. This study was compiled with a qualitative research scheme that uses a qualitative descriptive method using three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results obtained from this study indicate that several questions in the fields of literacy and numeracy still need to be reviewed and adjusted to the cognitive level of students. The results of the reconstruction provided in this study are expected to provide new and useful insights in the field of education

    This research aims to identify factors of language difficulties among Arabic-speaking students at Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta from Yemen in learning Indonesian. The research method used is qualitative research with interviews as the data collection technique. The process involves open-ended questions that allow respondents to explain their views in detail, while the researcher takes notes, analyzing the data collected. The results of this research are that there are two factors of difficulty in speaking Indonesian among Arabic speakers from Yemen, students at Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta, namely internal factors such as feeling foreign to Indonesian, significant differences in structure and vocabulary with Arabic, and a lack of guidance in the learning process. And the second is external factors such as the use of regional languages ​​by the surrounding environment which makes understanding and communication difficult

    Studi Inflectional Affixes pada Teks Naratif: Implikasinya untuk Pengajaran Bahasa Inggris

    This study aims to examine the use of the inflectional affixes -es and -ed in the narrative text "The Enchanted Fish" and their implications for English language teaching. Employing a descriptive qualitative research method through content analysis, the study identifies the patterns of -es and -ed suffixes attached to verbs in the narrative text. The analysis reveals that the -es suffix represents verbs in the third-person singular form in the present tense, while the -ed suffix represents verbs in the past tense within the narrative. The findings suggest that the use of various tenses in narrative texts enhances storytelling depth and richness, aiding students in understanding contrasts between ongoing events, habitual actions or permanent states, and past occurrences. In this context, the analysis of -es and -ed inflectional affixes on verbs in narrative texts can serve as a resource for teaching students about word formation, which can then be expanded into sentence construction. Furthermore, mastering this grammatical aspect can simultaneously support students' competence in reading and writing narrative text

    Perlawanan Magi Terhadap Tradisi Kawin Tangkap dalam Novel Perempuan Yang Menangis Kepada Bulan Hitam

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bentuk perlawanan perempuan terhadap budaya patriarki dalam tradisi kawin tangkap di Sumba melalui tokoh Magi Diela dalam novel Perempuan yang Menangis kepada Bulan Hitam karya Dian Purnomo. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif untuk menggambarkan bentuk-bentuk perlawanan tokoh utama. Pendekatan kualitatif dengan teori feminisme psikoanalisis Karen Horney diterapkan untuk memahami dinamika psikologis perlawanan tersebut. Sumber data utama penelitian ini adalah novel, dengan data berupa kata, frasa, kalimat, hingga wacana yang mencerminkan bentuk perlawanan Magi. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui pembacaan berulang dan pencatatan, sementara analisis data menggunakan teknik alir dan hermeneutik untuk menggali makna mendalam dari perlawanan tokoh terhadap patriarki. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlawanan Magi Diela mencakup tiga bentuk, yaitu mendekati orang lain (mencari dukungan emosional), melawan orang lain (tindakan fisik dan verbal), dan menjauhi orang lain (menghindari situasi menindas). Perjuangan Magi tidak hanya mencerminkan keberanian melawan norma patriarki, tetapi juga menggambarkan dinamika internal perempuan dalam menghadapi trauma dan tekanan sosial.     This study examines the challenges of historical semantics research in the Arabic language in the modern era. While historical semantics investigates the evolution of word meanings over time, existing literature often overlooks the complex social, political, and religious factors influencing these changes, especially within Arabic. The gap lies in limited integration of socio-political contexts and contemporary linguistic shifts in semantic analysis. This research aims to fill that gap by analyzing semantic changes in Arabic words through both synchronic and diachronic approaches, emphasizing the socio-cultural and religious dynamics involved. A qualitative method combining document analysis and semantic theory review was employed to trace semantic shifts and identify key problematics. The study reveals that modern influences such as colonialism, digitalization, and ideological conflicts significantly affect meaning transformations, posing methodological and ethical challenges for researchers. Findings highlight that the reinterpretation of key terms often reflects broader socio-political struggles and cultural negotiations. The study concludes that a nuanced, context-aware approach is essential for accurate semantic historical analysis of Arabic, balancing respect for traditional meanings with recognition of evolving usages. This contributes to a deeper understanding of language dynamics and offers a framework for future semantic research in Arabic and other languages with rich historical background

    Analisis Pemerolehan Bahasa pada Anak Usia 38 Bulan Berdasarkan Mean Longh of Utterance

    Language acquisition is a natural process where children acquire language without meaning to. Mean Length of Utterance (MLU) is used to measure language acquisition in a child's speech. MLU measures the average length of a child's utterances which reflects the language products produced. The aim of this research is to determine first language development in children aged 3 years 2 months. The research method used was descriptive qualitative with the subject being a child named Arabella. Data was collected through documentation techniques, namely recording and transcribing children's speech. The analysis results show that Arabella has 100 utterances with 210 morphemes. The MLU is 2.1 which means Arabella is in stage III for 27-28 months of age according to Brown's theory. Arabela's age should be at Stage VIII MLU. In terms of phonological acquisition, Arabella has mastered the pronunciation of vowels and some consonants well. However, some consonants such as /f/, /q/, /r/, /v/, /x/, and /z/ are still difficult for Arabella to pronounce
