The aim of this article is to put the interpretation of Carlo Michelstaedter’s La persuasione e la Rettorica on the basis of a textual application of the pragmatical category of perlocutivity. Starting from the assumption that the concept of “persuasion” (persuasione) is inexpressible, in accord with the formal/linguistic sense of “inexpressible” defined by Moritz Schlick, we assume that the notion of perlocutivity is useful to discuss the Michelstaedter’s work. We try to define an hermeneutical approach able to explain the text and also to solve some illusory aporias entailed by the work of the Author. At the same time our approach can be useful to discuss some relevant theoretical aspects of literary modernit

The Fictive and The Imaginary d’Iser possède plusieurs avantages. En outre, la conjugaison des deux visions respectives de l’expérience esthétique pourrait nous aider à cerner avec plus de précision les contours de l’anthropologie littéraire entendue comme la discipline référence de la recherche en littérature, capable d’expliquer « why we find an insatiable pleasure in making ourselves into our own possibilities ».Abstract :An analysis about the affinities between the Iser\u27s The Fictive and The Imaginary and Nietzsche’s The Birth of Tragedy approaches offers several advantages. Firstly, the comparison between the Apollonian/Dionysian dichotomy of Nietzsche on one hand, and the Imaginary/Fictive dichotomy of Iser on the other hand, could enrich the « philosophical » background that Iser, repeatedly, wanted to establish as a historical-critical conceptual basis for his conception of literature. Secondly, a comparison between the interpretative approaches of the two authors could be crucial for the introduction of Nietzschean philosophy, especially that of the "first period", so rich in content, in the current reflection in literary theory and more precisely in the contemporary narratological debate. Moreover, the conjugation of the two visions of aesthetic experience could help us to define more precisely the contours of the « literary anthropology » understood as a « main field » of literature research, capable of explaining « why we find an insatiable pleasure in making ourselves into our own possibilities »
Roles of Interpretation in Wolfgang Iser’s Theory of Reading and Systematic Poetics
On first glance, Wolfgang Iser seems to share little ground with pioneers of poetics like Tzvetan Todorov and Benjamin Harshav, who explicitly excluded interpretation from the province of poetics. Indeed, if Iser has any connection with poetics, and this article argues that he does, it is via the critical fringes of poetics, where excluding interpretation from systematic study of literature was never seen as an option one could choose. Although poetics versus hermeneutics was one of the major theoretical themes of the late 1970’s, Iser is better understood in the context of critical thought aiming to avoid the strict opposition between the two. Delving in turn into Iser’s theory, his analytical practice, and theory of poetics, this essay points out several points where dialogue between Iser’s work and the endeavor of systematic poetics can be productive

Modernism and Rhetoric. Pirandello and Michelstaedter
The article proposes to analyze the criticisms made by Luigi Pirandello (On Humor, 1908) and Carlo Michelstaedter (Persuasion and Rhetoric, 1909-1910) in regard to the classical idea of Rhetoric. It also proposes to show how the two different approaches derive from differing interpretations of the new modernist themes. For Pirandello, referring to the principles of imitation of the rules of rhetoric means to repropose, in works of art, universally accepted truths, suppressing in them the new modernist awareness that has upset the previous direct link between life and representation; Michelstaedter, instead, believes that the rejection of the old Rhetoric does not erase the imitative relation, because with the loss of the timeless referent of the metaphysical idea of Truth, the «mimetic regime» is simply shifted onto the historical referent of social consent.Pirandello’s analysis, based on the contrast between Life and Truth, becomes – in Italy – the perfect mirror of the new modernist themes regarding the inability of assuming Reality in the symbolisms of the I. Michelstaedter’s analysis of the same issues is meticulous but also critical, and he concludes that the crisis of the concept of Truth does not lead to the liberation of the Subject from the confines of metaphysical thought but forces it into the mimetic regime of a Truth that is, from time to time, the dominant ideology of a particular moment in history.

Weaving Intersectional Rhetoric: The Digital Counternarratives of Indigenous Feminist Bloggers
Indigenous feminist bloggers weave an intersectional, rhetorical story that lances the core of American popular culture and misinformed imaginations. The Native American women bloggers introduced in this essay are unknown to most non-Native Americans, most rhetoric scholars, and most feminists, but should be on our radar because of their refusal to be constrained by colonialist binaries, single rhetorical forms, or imposed boundedness to the margins. These Indigenous feminists practice in the digital space to reinforce and reclaim rhetorical sovereignty as an outcome for themselves and their communities. Once the weaving is complete, the resultant warmth of rhetorical sovereignty provides some protection from the cold colonial stories of erasure and absence
