Garrido de Villena, who translated Orlando innamorato into Spanish. To this purpose, the text and paratext of his works have been surveyed at length, as well as the news and writings of some of his contemporaries with whom he established a personal or a literary relationship. This paper attempts to throw light on a hitherto unknown episode in Kafka’s life in which two different paths of literature and Jewish identity delineate themselves, two paths which, according to Rabinowitz, exclude each other: the abstract-calculating path of the western Jewish writers and the path bound to the sanctity of «Reality» of future Hebrew literature in Palestine

Get PDFThe study deals with dialectics in the context of the Prague Linguistic Circle, particularly in the context of Jan Mukařovský’s thinking. The essay presents 1) main sources of Mukařovský’s dialectics, and outlines 2) Mukařovský’s dialectical method. The notion of dialectics appears in Mukařovský’s scholarly work in a set of connections. He applied dialectics as a method, manner or form of rationality. It served as a means of gaining knowledge about the world, specific phenomena and objects, their essence, interconnectedness as well as development. Mukařovský also used it as a procedure for resolving contradictions (antinomies) that he encountered in his scientific explorations and in ordinary practical activities. He understood dialectical thinking as dynamic, open, and pluralist thinking striving to reflect reality as a constant process. Gradual coming together of dialectics and materialism, evident in Mukařovský’s scholarly works from the mid-1930s, resulted, ten years later, in a public adoption of dialectical materialism
Storytelling in Miniature: Microfiction and Reader Participation
Get PDFThis article proposes that Iser’s work on gaps and blanks, as well as recent enactivist-inspired cognitive-narratological extensions of Iser’s work, can enlighten an under-theorized genre of experimental narrative, microfiction, typically identified as stories under 300 words (though often considerably shorter). The extreme brevity of microfiction results in stories that are similar, to a degree, to short stories, though experientially quite different; in the most thorough narratological treatment, William Nelles (2012) makes the case for a generic distinction between microfiction and the traditional short story. As I have argued elsewhere (Author 2016), borderline-narrative texts (microfiction included) make for oddly compelling reading experiences, largely due to the increased degree of reader participation necessary in narrativization. A main point of investigation here is as follows: while there is general agreement that Iser at least somewhat underestimates the extent to which narratives are perpetually fraught with gaps to be filled in by readers, there is still arguably a noticeably greater gap-per-capita (in a manner of speaking) in microfiction set against higher-narrativity texts; readers need to do more, in other words, to narrativize the typical piece of microfiction. Further, the extreme brevity of microfiction potentially affords readers a uniquely full experience of perceptual presence over the course of the micro-story
Cognitive literary Anthropology and Neurohermeneutics. A theoretical Proposal
Get PDFFollowing Wolfgang Iser’s studies, literary criticism could no longer avoid a confrontation with the phenomenology of the act of reading. This has led the analysis of a literary text towards new researches regarding the reader’s response theory. In particular, it is impossible to define the field of literary investigation, its coordinates and characteristics, without considering the anthropological dimention which defines the epistemological nature of literature itself. We propose in this study a new approach that we call “neurohermeneutic approach”. Unlike an analytical or descriptive approach, the neurohermeneutic approach investigates broth the relations that the reader’s mind establishes with the text figurations and how these figurations stimulates the reader’s mind in that inexhaustible, always new and surprising act of the reading. A partire dagli studi di Wolfgang Iser, la riflessione critica non ha più potuto evitare il confronto con la fenomenologia dell’atto della lettura, e questo ha condotto l’analisi del testo fino alle recenti ricerche in merito alla reader’s response theory. Soprattutto risulta ormai impossibile definire il campo di indagine letterario, le sue caratteristiche e coordinate, a prescindere da un affondo nella dimensione antropologica che definisce la natura epistemologica della letteratura stessa. Proponiamo in questo studio un nuovo approccio che definiamo “neuroermeneutico” e che, a differenza di un approccio analitico o descrittivo, indaga sia le relazioni che la mente del lettore instaura con le figurazioni del testo, sia come queste figurazioni sollecitino la mente del lettore in quell’atto inesauribile, sempre nuovo e sorprendente, della lettura.
Le antologie di poesia italiana nel XXI secolo. Note per un primo bilancio
Get PDFDa almeno un secolo, l’antologia costituisce il principale veicolo di formazione del canone letterario e di scontro delle interpretazioni per la poesia italiana. Nei primi quindici anni del Ventunesimo secolo la discussione intorno alle antologie è ripresa, dopo una fase di stasi, soprattutto grazie alla critica online. Poco più di dieci anni fa sono state pubblicate tre antologie d’autore: Parola plurale. Sessantaquattro poeti tra due secoli (a cura di Alfano, Baldacci, Bello Minciacchi, Cortellessa, Manganelli, Scarpa, Zinelli, Zublena, Sossella, 2005); Dopo la lirica (a cura di Testa, Einaudi, 2005); La poesia italiana dal 1960 a oggi (a cura di Piccini, Rizzoli, 2005). Sono seguite nuove raccolte, che potremmo classificare come antologie generazionali oppure crestomazie «dei poeti d\u27oggi»; queste ultime hanno spostato il dibattito sul canone più recente. Si è molto discusso, ad esempio, di Poeti degli anni Zero (a cura di Ostuni, Ponte Sisto, 2010), ma anche di La generazione entrante. Poeti nati negli anni Ottanta (a cura di Fantuzzi, Ladolfi, 2011); nonché di due antologie di genere come Nuovi poeti italiani/6 (a cura di Rosadini, Einaudi, 2012) e Le parole tra gli uomini. Antologia di poesia gay italiana dal Novecento al presente (a cura di Baldoni, Robin, 2012). Questo intervento si propone di fare un primo bilancio delle crestomazie poetiche pubblicate dal 2000 al 2016 e del dibattito critico che le riguarda. In particolare, per ciascuna antologia verranno considerati i seguenti aspetti: categorie critiche impiegate, ordinamento e struttura dell’opera, estremi cronologici, proposta di canone, postura critica del curatore (militante, copoetica, d’autore)
